The main segment of Cuban society which did not benefit under Batista were the poor and lower classes along with rural Cubans, who then lived a rather hard life. None of the economic gains went to them, only to city dwellers and collaborators of American corporations which dominated Cuba at the time.
Fidel Castro's father owned a large sugar plantation at the behest of the United Fruit company, so he was from a rather well off family from the beginning. Indeed, Fidel's mother never forgave her son for his treachery- after he had moved to nationalize all of Cuba's industry and private businesses to impose a system of Marxism. It meant Castro's parents and many of his relatives losing their former status with only Fidel and Raul being greatly enriched by their communist revolution.
And? Had the US annexed it Batista would never have been a dictator. I said Cuba was doing pretty well BEFORe the coup. Which never would have happened had the US annexed the place.
it would've also not happened if the us hadn't helped batista in the coup
