Subject: Counteroffer

I do not agree with you here Senator. The penny has three major values to it. It provides a mild cost reduction to the poor, it is a rare check on inflation, and it is an item of national heritage. Eliminating the penny would have negative effects ranging from forcing copper miners into unemployment to increasing our dependence on electronic currency. Even children's penny drives and school penny wars would be harmed.

But you did make an attempt at bipartisanship so I will try to make one as well. Another bill about the treasury. I am drafting a resolution to formally recommend adding Harriet Tubman onto the $20 bill, to replace Andrew Jackson. If you are interested in bipartisanship, I could have you on as a co-sponsor.

Liberty Always,

Senator de Peña,

Your arguments for the penny will be taken into consideration when I present the bill in the Senate, though I understand that you are mostly likely not willing to participate, so I will not badger you about it. Changing focus, your resolution for adding Harriet Tubman is very well-placed, and I will be happy to co-sponsor it.

Donald Johnson then embraced people and took Pictures and had fun and it was really Good.

Lincoln, New Hampshire

Jack Stephens, a 51 year old, charismatic, successful ski resort owner, walked out of the front doors of his ski resort, onto a large outdoor staircase leading down the hill on which the resort was situated. At the bottom of the hill, about 3000 people from Lincoln and other surrounding town in Northern New Hampshire. The moment he was in sight the crowd went wild.

Stephens got to the bottom of the hill where in front of the crowd was a podium with his campaign sign on it. When he arrived at the podium adjusted the microphone and cleared his throat. He started speaking. "Hello Lincoln, New Hampshire!" he said, he smiled and shouted, "Are you ready to vote for me, Jack Stephens on November 8!" They cheered. "Well then, sounds like you are ready for a new direction for this state, we need to make a sharp u-turn from the path the tyrant, her highness, Irina Kuznetsov has put us on. Now get this, it appears that the Democrats are going to nominate this disgusting woman as their candidate for President, can you believe that! The crowed booed. "Now I need your help to end her political career, she needs to go. Not only do I want to become Governor of our great state. I want to be the one to deny her the presidency and elect Calvin Reed as President. On November 8 the Republicans are going to take New Hampshire by storm, from the lowest city position, to me as Governor, we are going to win! We are going create jobs, lower the debt, and cut taxes, something her highness couldn't do! A vote for Stephens is a vote for a brighter future!

"God bless New Hampshire, and God bless America."

Miami
Unemployment was the bane of Ferdinand's rule. At least his second term of rule. Term numero uno was as good as could be, happiness spreading far and wide and jobs for everyone. Maybe he'd write a book about it one day, and how he'd pulled it off. But term one was gone, and term two was the present. Unemployment, was the present. Homelessness too, but they went hand in hand. When people have no jobs, they can't afford homes. When people don't have a home, how could they hope to have the energy to look for a job? Miami could theoretically pay for homes for all, but they could kiss that balanced budget goodbye. So Ferdinand had to think of something else. As always, the Libertarians had the answer.

In downtown Miami, Ferdinand is giving a speech on his grand plan. He is dressed in a fine tweed suit with a golden watch, to look good. A bundle of pages with his speech written down is held in his hands. Giving a big smile to the audience, he begins:

"Hello Miami! It warms my heart to see you all come out here on this warm sweaty day. I'm so happy to see you all care enough about your city to come here today. And you won't regret it, because I have some big news." The audience gasps and whispered began.

"I, Ferdinand Simpson, am hereby announcing the formation of the Ferdinand Fund. This Fund will be a non-profit organization, dedicated to finding homes and drapes for our citizens out there who go without warmth and shelter. It brings a tear to my eye to see them on our street corners, going hungry and catching diseases while others go without that sort of trouble. For the Miami government to pay for all them would be lovely, but I'm very sorry when I say that we just can't afford it." Some of the crowd boos.

"I know, I know. But with this Fund, the government can forget about this issue. Libertarianism has taught me that those in times of roughness need support from others through charity, religion, family, and community. This Fund is going to be part of that charity! The charity to help all of Miami's homeless." There is a small cheer from the audience.

"Thank you, thank you. I'll be starting off with a $10,000 donation, from my own pocket. If you donate, then all you homeless will have a little more hope this time of year. If you don't donate, then that's your choice as a free citizen. Thank you Miami!" As Ferdinand walks off, the crowd begins to cheer more and more. Hopefully this would reverse his approval dip.

Concord, New Hampshire

It was a a larger gathering than Lincoln, maybe 5000 people gathered on the tarmac at the small Concord Airport, Stephens walked around the small makeshift stage as he smiled. The crowd cheered. Stephens said, "Okay, thank you, but quiet down now." The crowd stoped cheering. "Well it's great to be in Concord! Now, let's cut to the chase, Kutzenov has ruined this state, and we have a long way to go before we can get back on the right track. She has raises our state debt dramatically, sent thousands of jobs to other states and across seas, and created a heroin epidemic right here in New Hampshire, and Concord is the center of it all. Look at us, it's a disgrace!

"Now some are telling me, including some overrated congresswoman, who's name I'm not even going to try to pronounce, stop attacking Governor Kutzenov, don't you know, she just went through a major medical problem, and yes I'm praying for the Governor, I don't want her dead, but I really don't feel bad, and I know you don't feel bad either!" They cheered.

Stephens then sarcastically said "Now seriously, look at the polls, the GOP is going to sweep the nation, it looks like we are going to flip Liberal states Washington, Oregon, and New York, and we brought California and Hawaii to the swing category! Though I can't say the same for our neighbors to the west, look at them, seems like they will never embrace the values of Conservatism." Everybody laughed. "That's how great we are going to be! But guys, seriously, on November eighth get out and vote, and if you do the next four years are going to be the best times since Reagan!"

"As Governor, I'm going to stop the flow of refugees, Help our state congress pas reform to bring help to young people who are struggling with heroin addiction, lower income tax, Enact statewide community policing, bring cleaner energy to New Hampshire, and be the Governor to sign in to law the toughest restrictions on planned parenthood!"

"Thank you Concord, I'm sure to be back for my inauguration soon."

The crowd went wild.

Rally at UC Santa Cruz

There was a silent murmur that filled the air in the room. The audience anticipated Carter's entrance. He was nervous, Carter felt more at home with the small townhall type of events; he had never filled up an auditorium. His staff told him that the interview on TNS did make waves in California, polls suggested people were interested to see how a Republican could fare in a blue state. Carter's palms began to clam up a sign of insecurity , a sign that his emotions were getting the better of him. He tried to calm himself down with a generic pep talk, nothing seemed to work. The thought of more than a thousand people attending the event only served to further his uneasiness. Pacing back and forth his campaign manager meandered over to Carter. Reviewing the points the words "Ladies and Gentlemen, please welcome Representative and Senatorial candidate Johnathan Carter Fox!" The room lit up with applause, for a second John's heart dropped. A wave of stage fright briefly overcame him, he pulled out his hankerchief, wiped his forehead, and prepped himself to the major applause. Fox waved proudly as he walked towards the podium, lipping the words thank you. The audience continued to applause.

"Thank you, thank you. Thank you UC Santa Cruz for having me here today." The applause faded as students began to take their seats.

"I can remember it like it was yesterday.... when I had student loan debt." Some in the audience chuckled along with the Representative.

"I was 100 grand in debt, I barely came out of college and was struggling to find a job with my master's degree. And this problem is something relatively new, new to the 21st century but also new to the millennial generation. Rising tuition rates, falling incomes, and many of these amazing students earning degree's but cannot for the life of them find a job. It seems ever more apparent that these degree's are being reduced to nothing more than words on paper. The State of California's tuition rates have increased nearly 40% in the past decade. These tuition rates are crippling, not only the family struggling to put their child or children through college, but the next generation of American innovation. These tuition hikes are not unique to California, on average nationally since 2000 the US tuition hike is anywhere from a 25% to 30% increase in rates. We have a serious issue this nation has refused to address, our leaders in Washington are turning a blind eye to this implosion of our University system." Many in the audience nodded to Fox's sentiments. He peered at the crowd;making sure to swivel his head towards every angle of the audience from left to right. He straightened his posture a bit, firmly placing his hands on either side of the podium.

"Compound the situation with rising interest rates on student loans. It's a viscous cycle. Rising tuition rates means students will have to borrow more to pay through school, the private lender's know this. They know that student's will be backed into a corner and forced, in many circumstances, to take these predatory loans with insanely high interest rates. How many of you have accepted these loans because they were no other financial alternatives?" Many hands immediately sprung up. "When it comes to our children, when it comes to our students and the aid they receive and take Wall Street needs to be regulated. Burdening our next generation with crippling student debt is moronic and counter-productive. When I see these politicians come up here and champion students I can't help but have a feeling of resentment, anger, sadness. Hypocrisy at its best. The only solution to this madness is to regulate how much these private lenders can hike interest rates. Adjust with inflation and base it off income from both the student and family. Predatory loans busted the bubble back in '08 with the housing market, we are seeing a repeat of it except this time the predatory lending is aimed and targeted at you the student's."

"The fundamental question our leaders need to ask themselves is: why? Why are we already hindering the next generation with crippling debt? Why are forcing our kids to take these loans? They have no choice but too. What I'm here to tell you is that it doesn't have to be this way. What this country need's, what all of America needs is a new start. A fresh start. If we want true reform to come, if we want meaningful progress taken in strides, we need to start with the change of leadership. We have ineffective leadership, many politicians in Washington who benefit off the gridlock. A New Start! The University system is imploding, our student's are graduating with insurmountable amounts of debt. They are graduating with degree's but cannot find a job, honestly this is the worse time to graduate with a degree; in a sluggish economy, with stagnating incomes, no sense of job security or security in general. There is an aurora of uncertainty in the air, I want to bring that sense of security back. Our student's are our nation's most precious resource, I've fought for education reform, shepherd a number of bills through congress aimed alleviating the crippling debt of students."

"I'm a public servant in the truest sense, I'm here to serve you. Send me back to Congress and our voice will undeniable, everyone deserves a Fresh Start. I'm a man of my word and I've kept my promises since day one, so let me say this here and now. If I'm blessed enough and have the gracious opportunity to continue to serve this great state and people, we will protect our student's , we will shield them from these predatory loans. Let's send a message to these private lenders that we will not be harassed or pushed around. United in our resolve, our voice will be undeniable. Let's give America the New Start it deserves! Thank you and God bless you all." Fox began waving, the climax of his words was met with a massive stand and ovation. The deafening applause filled the auditorium and the ears of anybody passing by the auditorium. Fox grinned like a kid in a candy store. All of his pre-event nerves were laid to rest, replaced by a euphoric sense of confidence. He had more events scheduled but he made sure that he wouldn't feel overwhelmed.

Dartmouth College
Hanover, New Hampshire

The energy was high in Thompson Arena, a hockey arena, on the grounds of Dartmouth College. A Tennessee born, lawyer who attended the College named Amanda Wilson was running for Governor of the state as an Independent. The stadium was packed and everywhere people were cheering for Wilson. Suddenly they cheering got ten times louder, Wilson was walking out to the middle of the arena on a red carpet put over the ice, she was smiling and waving. The crowd screamed "Wilson! Wilson!" She got up to the podium.

"Well isn't It great to be back!" Everyone erupted in cheers. "Been a long time since I watched a game here in grad school! Now come on now, this is amazing, a start of a movement here in New Hampshire, isn't it!" Cheers came from the crowd. "Now, for too long this State has been suffering under bad leadership. My opponent Mr. Stephenson thin...." Everyone in the arena started to boo, Wilson smiled, "Quiet down now guys." She clared her throat. "Mr. Stephenson thinks that Kutzenov was a bad leader, who by the way i'm praying for; he would be disastrous for this State, the guy is a delusional, heartless, egomaniac, and he needs suspend his campaign or apologize to Governor Kutzenov!" Cheers broke out in the arena.

"I now want to get into policy and my beliefs. I am a Conservative, and will stand up for Conservative beliefs. In New Hampshire I want to employ more state workers by starting an extensive highway and interstate extension project that will not only build us better ways to get across the state, but will also repair many of the older roads that have not seen work in years. I want help many New Hampshire who commute to Boston everyday by collaborating with Massachusetts to build a large commuter railway from Concord, down south through Manchester, to Nashua, and then to downtown Boston and back. It's going to create jobs, and in a few years create a steady source of income for the state. And finally, I want to be the Governor to fight the heroin issue that has been an epidemic among our children. I will create programs that these children can enroll in to receive counselling, and the help they need. Not judgement." The crowd clapped.

"Now finally I would like to say, on November eighth you don't have to vote for the usual "mainstream conservative" or "mainstream liberal" politics my opponents offer. Republicans and Democrats alike! If you want a better future for New Hampshire, and not another two years of bad leadership, choose Amanda Wilson!"

The crowd erupted in to cheers and shouts of "Wilson!" "Wilson!" as she exited the stage.

Old Town Hall, Babylon, New York 2nd Congressional District

The crowd that filled the thin sidewalk in front of the town-hall-turned-museum was anxious waiting for Torres, who was set to appear on the balcony and give a speech. They held signs and wore buttons with his campaign logo on them. The crowd was made up of mostly people of Hispanic heritage, who made up the majority of the Congressman's supporter-base, as he himself was Hispanic. The crowd was confident, that like the other two election years, he would win by a safe majority.

Meanwhile Torres was preparing; he dusted off his suit, readjusted his button and glasses, and repeated some phrases.Soon, the doors were opened by two local police officers and the Congressman stepped out. The crowd cheered and waved their signs higher. He soon began, "Mis hermanos, mis hermanas, I would like to thank you for coming to this humble rally! It is very apparent that it has come down to that time where you wonderful people express your opinion and make your voice heard by casting your ballots. So, indeed, it has come to that o-so familiar situation where I run for reelection, hold a rally, and give a speech. But first before that, I would like to thank the Babylon Historical Society for allowing me to use this wonderful building for our rally. Truly wonderful people."

He took a quick pause in speech read the faces of his audience, who thankfully seemed to be enjoying his speech. Quietly as possible, he cleared his throat and began again.

"Now, I have to tell you, as a young immigrant dreamer, I never thought I would be where I am today. I would've never seen myself as lawyer and politician, or even a Republican. But, it wasn't through some magic spell that my life went that course, it was through hard work and determination in School. As my wonderful parents, who gave me the tools I needed to be successful, would've told any of their friends or relatives, I was a studious and bright child, well according to them." He chuckled and the audience did with him. "The opportunities that I had were amazing as a child. I had the support of my amazing parents, I attended a great school district right here in Babylon, and had great role models. Using these tools, I worked hard in school. Because of that, I was able to get a scholarship to Hofstra, and from there, be able to do what I do today."

"Now, as you could tell, I'm going to talk about education. While I am no teacher or have any relations to the field of education, I've started to notice worrying trends. 30% of High School Students fail and don't graduate, more and more young people live at home, drop out rates are increasing, and the U.S. is falling behind global average in education. This is worrying. These problems have multiple roots; whether it be a bad situation at home, student apathy, or the one I'd like to focus on, under-performing schools. Schools whose grades do not meet national standards. Schools that lack student resources. Schools that suffer under terrible administration. Schools with outdated or incorrect curriculum. And want to know what the worst thing is? We keep throwing money at schools like this. It's terrible! It's a tragedy! We can't just throw money at the problem and hope it goes away! We need to intervene or shut it down. This is where I get to my next point: charter schools. Charter schools are amazing! They are wonderful experimentation grounds to see what works and what doesn't. They provide parents with amazing alternatives to failing schools. It's reasons like these that makes me a hard-line supporter of school choice. It's wonderful, really."

"Now sadly, I have been only recently aware of this issue, so I cannot say that I have an impressive voting record on legislation like this. I too was once one of those who wanted to keep throwing money at failing schools. But I do promise you, the amazing people of Long Island, that if you send me back to congress, I will fight tooth and nail for charter schools and school choice!. With your help, we can allow parents across the nation to send their kids to schools their comfortable with! This is something that make things for a long time! We can make change in this country! I, as your pubic servant, as with your permission to return to congress and fight for your needs and wants! God bless!" With that, the crowd started chanting his name, and he walked back inside, confident that this rally went well.

Nashua City Hall
Nashua, New Hampshire.

Wilson stood before the large crowd at the Nashua City Hall. "Hello Nashua," she said "It's great to be here! Now, my challengers, including Mr. Stephens have not held rallies in response to the the one I held at Dartmouth a few days ago. Now, I think they are afraid that my campaign is going to set both of them back, and I can't blame them. I have met voters, Democratic and Republican, that live around this state, that have told me they are going to forget the same old partisan politics, and have pledged to switch their support and vote for me. Isn't that great everyone? I feel like when the time comes down to it, the people of New Hampshire are going choose to retake the state!"

"Now, I fell like it is the right time to get into policy and some of my ideas to make New Hampshire, better than it already is. The first day I am Governor, I'm going meet with the leaders of our state's legislature to see what they they believe the biggest problems facing this state are and how we can fix them together. This will slowly create the bipartisanship this state urgently needs. I am also looking at possibilities for a large tax break for qualifying small business struggling to get ahead in this State."

"Finally, I would just like to say thank you for your support. If we can continue this, and hold more rallies around the state that are this large I will make a big difference in the future. But now I ask you to go out tell your friends, tell your family, to vote on November eighth, and to vote for Amanda Wilson, and great things will happen! Thank you Nashua!" Everyone cheered.

Office of Representative Torres, Rayburn Office Building, Washington D.C

"Listen Rich, you can't just not endorse Reed. He's the NOMINEE. This can go back to hurt you!" lectured Torres' Chief of Staff, Scott Border, to the Representative, who was slummed in his chair.

"I know that! But I can't bring myself to do it! He doesn't represent my wants! Tax increases! Welfare! Healthcare! He's a tree huger, dammit! Have you heard of any Republican that shares these policy ideas?" Argued back Torres, who was now sitting up straight.

"But think about his values and other policies! He supports the second amendment, he's pro-life, pro-military, and pro-marriage. All good Republican ideals."

    "I know-"

Listen to me Rich, he's the nominee, he's going to win, he is the face of our party. Just endorse him. It could do no harm to you. At best, you lose a couple votes in your district. Either way, your'e still going to have your seat."

"Pass me my phone, I'm not making this formal."

    "Any other endorsements needed?"

"Yes. Some Representative from California running for the senate. John C. Fox. His team sent us a request."

"He's going to lose, but I will say something."

Shouldn't we have MLK on money before Harriet Tubman or someone like that?

@SenConti
@AlohaSenator They are not mutually exclusive. I hope that we can make it to the Senate to support the resolution encouraging the addition of great women like Harriet Tubman to our national currency. Besides, it's about time women get the recognition they have earned time and time again.
