If it allows for communication outside of a light cone, it has the same causality-violation problems as any other method of FTL.

Any information that goes through a wormhole remains within its light cone. Any other interpretation requires special relativity to be true while general relativity is false, a highly unlikely proposition.

Since FTL intrinsically involves finding a way to, at least, get around relativity and more probably renders it obsolete, I think we can safely assume that any real-life method of FTL travel would find a way around relativity's implications towards causality.
Regardless, I'm of the school of thought that FTL is likely only possible with the construction of a permanent bridge between places we've already been.

That the science dosen't yet exist, doesn't make it wrong. And the technicalities are very important, since you can't travel faster then light in normal spacetime without messing with relativity. (Mass effect Is a lie!)

I honestly thought Mass Effect did a pretty good job of making it's science woo seem pretty feasible tbh.

Word order does not matter in classical Latin. Latin grammar indicates syntax associations with grammatical declension of nouns/adjectives and conjugation of verbs, not their proximity.

Well whoever does find the proof will likley win the Nobel prize for physics, since they will have discovered the basis for future space travel.

They did, but it was all based on a lie. They even had a line in ME3 suggesting that the mass effect universe is in a different dimension where the mass effect totally isn't cheating. :)

In that case, future Terran societies could put regulations in place that would dictate the minimum distance from a planetary system a ship could drop out of warp. A few hundred thousand to a million kilometers out is a pretty good distance, I'd say. That way, the massive amounts of debris would be deposited in a high orbit above the planet, beyond most moons and other satellites.

It's not debris. It's trapped particles. Atomic particles, quarks, and photons.

Essentially, stopping from an FTL jump, as we believe it would be most likely to be possible, would be shotgunning your destination with a laser, graser, xaser, ion and neutron combined death beam.

Harvesting the energy of a literal sun is really wasteful when you consider that literally every Star Destroyer could have done it by accident.

Except that star destroyer's FTL works on a hyperdrive, not an Alcubierre drive, and thus doesn't have the same effect.
Star Trek, however, has no excuse.

Star Trek, however, has no excuse.

Hyperdrive in the original trilogy and the prequels was depicted as a kind of warp drive through normal space, which would have this effect.

Force Awakens seemed to depict it as a "tunnelling" thing, seemingly inspired by the Doctor Who opening titles, which makes it an abberation in the series.

I mean, I could argue that, but we'd be getting into the nitty gritty of the special effects used, so I don't think it's really worth it.

I haven't seen the original original trilogy, just the 1997 special editions with changed special effects. Between the effects depicted here and also those in the prequel trilogy that came shortly after - particularly episode 2 and 3 - I believe this constitutes a coherent string of belief for how their hyperdrive was depicted.

The clearest indicator for me that hyperdrive in Star Wars was depicted as "warp" (that is, jumping very quickly through normal space beyond light speed regardless of whether or not space is actually being warped a la alcubierre/Trekdom) was the Jedi Starfighters from 2 and 3. They have to dock with a six-engined ring pod to make long-range jumps, lacking an integral jump drive. The ring nature could imply alcubierre drive (not depicted elsewhere in Star Wars to my knowledge), or simply it's just a really powerful engine drive.

The issue with discussion stuff like this is it's difficult to parse what is intentional and what is just there to make it look cool.

No, it isn't warping. Hyperdrive allows ships to enter hyperspace where the laws of physics do not apply.

Yeah well the "Incredible Cross Section" books all say that the Republic's Star Destroyer's engines would annihilate a hundred thousand tonnes of fuel per second so maybe the Star Wars fandom isn't well planned.

You can't go FTL in any way without breaking either relativity or causality.
