Opening Act
I have mixed feelings about the opening act for this competition. While the song certainly did strike the joyous, happy tone quite successfully, opening up ready for the competition to begin well, it did get a little annoying. Not to say that being annoying is always a bad thing - it can sometimes make some songs that really catch peoples attention, like that PPAP song that was going around, whatever that was called, amongst other songs, and I have a really awesome annoying friend, but that was just the wrong kind of annoying. It was so annoying it was just… boring. But it did get me in the right mood for the competition. I just fear it was at risk of getting people into that cheerful mood, and then turning them away from that mood by the end.

Act 1 - Darkmania

I’m sure I’ve heard this before… not sure if it was this song though. Well… that was… different. I didn’t like it, and I think the biggest teller of how well a song is going to do is how far I got through the song before I got bored of the song and wanted it to be over. The moment at which I was checking how long was left of the song was just over a minute into it, so it can’t have been that great a song. There were some opportunities in which the song could have been developed into something greater, and if the lyrics had more thought put into them to make them flow better and make more sense, then the song might have captivated my attention more, but all in all, it was a pretty poor song. Every kid at home, you should have listened to the last line of the song. In fact parents, rewind it and make them listen to it. Again and again and again and again until it is in their heads. I reckon if we weren’t a democracy, the kids would have been brainwashed by that line already, and it’s only a few minutes after it was sung. That’s what I’d hope would happen though, considering the state doesn’t endorse me. It endorses this channel though… I shouldn’t have said that… or my other comments off air that I’m going to kill our leader tonight.
(he gets grabbed by a guy wearing black, who proceeds to drag him outside the room and towards the fire exit. He is replaced by Sam Wilcox.)
Sorry about Mr. Draybeard there. Now on with the songs, and there is only 1 thing I can agree with our previous commentator about, ever. That is the opinion of Darkmania’s song. It was Awful. Capital A. Full Stop.
Now, I feel like considering the next song is starting, we should probably move on.

Missus X
I’m a total *beep* *beep*
*beep* it away, way, way, let them all say
I just wanna *beep*, *beep*, *beep* them all night,
Bad *beep* like me are hard to come by,
I'm a troll, oh, I'll get it on,
Cause she's one, one, she's number one,
And then two and three really don't think
That I'm any good in bed with them.

I am a *beep*, *beep*,
I love to "dance",
I just want more, more,
'Til you can't stand,
Get on the floor, floor,
'Cause you should have sex,
So give me more, more,
And here I am

Snort coke and get real high
Have sex and start to fly
Don't stop, and just get high
Then do it many a time,
Snort coke and get real high
Have sex and start to fly
Then do it one more time,
Can't stop, I am a literal *beep*!

I am a literal *beep*!

*screen goes blank*

Sorry for that powercut there. Unfortunately you missed the rest of the Missus X song because of it, but don’t worry, it was just as terrible, if not worse, than the start was.
So, moving on we now have Cosneolta.

3 - Cosneolta
And we get a decent song. And when I mean decent, I mean decent. That was actually a really good entry from Cosneolta, who has really gone all out with that performance, and got the desired effect. This will surely be scoring high tonight. The weakness lies in its repetitiveness, which is something that while can be effective, isn’t always best to see in a song, even if it is the style going at the moment, especially in a Worldvision song contest, where we can see… from the last entry… that we like to be edgy and different here. The first line of the song, about coffee being cold in your cup also felt a little forced - like the writer ran out of lyrical ideas - so does no favours to the song, but I do wonder how much of the audience at home will have actually picked up on that. All in all though, it was a good song, and definitely will have made an impact being the first decent song, after the Darkmanian and Missus X entries prior to this performance. However, considering this competition yet has far to go, lets crack on with the next entry from Polkopia.

4 - Polkopia
This is a song that catches my attention for a fleeting moment. I remember, back in French class, when I had to - with a group of friends - do our own version of this song using french verbs as an educational tool for us. It was quite fun actually. Unfortunately, this song doesn’t have the same excitement to it. I was expecting highly of the song right from the off - after all, it is from Polkopia - but it failed to deliver on the promise it held. It felt a little stereotypical, a little boring and a little too ‘down-the-middle’, like the Polkopians want to explore new genres but want to win as well, and with that they failed to do both. Its a song that could have done well, but it fails to catch my attention as a winner, although its doubtless that some commentators will already prematurely be declaring Polkopia the winner (don’t they always call that?). Anyway, next up we have Krytenia, who we are hoping will deliver something decent.

5 - Krytenia
I want to like this song. I really do. And the lyrics are ‘golden’ - they are so creative - which I really like to see. Its a song that gets everyone moving, which is a certain plus. Yet I cannot get myself to like this song, no matter how much I would like to like it. There’s just something about the song, like it feels a little hollow almost and a little flat in tonality. I don’t know whether it’s me or not, but it just feels boring. I know it is supposed to be a song that gets you up on your feet and dancing along, but it doesn’t really get me in the mood where I want to jump up and dance along.I just wish for it to be over, even though there are many aspects of the song that I do like, such as the staging; I prefer to keep myself from going blind though. However, this wasn’t all that bad, especially if you compare it to song 1 and 2, so it can’t do too badly. I reckon this song will be fighting for a top 10 place - it’ll either be just inside or just outside the top 10 this competition. Next up, Todlichebujoku.

6 - Todlichebujoku
This isn’t really my type of music, I must admit. The lyrics feel a little forced and boring, while the music itself feels too jumpy and random. Some parts of it just don’t fit, and it doesn’t flow for me or keep me interested. I must admit, the staging at the beginning and through most of the song was amazing, although I’ve never been a fan of watching strobe lights, and had great impact, but the rest of it wasn’t there. I didn’t really enjoy the singer either. No doubt she is talented, as shown through the performance, but the voice is one I find more annoying than attractive and enjoyable. It just didn’t really fit together and felt a little sharp-edged for my liking. Anyway, next up is Tomikosan.

7 - Tomikosan
I’m gonna play… the same chords always. I don’t know other.. Chords on this thing. Seriously though, it was the same thing over and over and over again. The music was boring, repetitive and had no substance to it. I think the lyrics can mostly be applied to that statement as well. The lyrics at least had a little more thought put into them than the song choice did - commercials beware, this is a song contest not a film festival - but I fail to understand the meaning behind them - what does ‘rolling for you’ even mean? The staging felt a little bland as well. All in all, it certainly wasn’t the best song of the night - it was far from it - yet it was also far from being the worst song of the night as well. Can’t really see them picking up any points from Ethane, but we do wish them the best. Lets now go see if Kalosia can provide us with a song during which I can avoid falling asleep.

8 - Kalosia
Does anyone else find the backing in the chorus, when they sing ‘Cause I’m’, ‘cause I’m still’ really annoying? I certainly do, and think it detracts from the song, which isn’t that great in itself. It feels a little repetitive and dull, and while it certainly is upbeat in its performance, it feels lacking in the music department. Lyrically, it feels like someone is singing the same thing over and over again, as if they had no idea what to write and so just copied and pasted. I understand, it is the chorus, but when the whole song is basically the chorus repeated you have to question; is this a good song for me to use? Anyway, next up is Normandy and Picardy.

9 - Normandy and Picardy
This song is a little drab. I normally like songs similar to this, so this is rather interesting for me, but it feels a little empty and I was expecting more from it. I was hoping it would pick up a little bit (and I don’t just mean that in terms of beat, intensity also works), but I feel it did the opposite of this. It does get better towards the end, but I lost most interest from about half way through. In other contexts, I may have liked this song, but I feel it didn’t fit the stage. I liked the lyrics either - the French was beautiful in the context, but then I have never been the biggest fan of entries in foreign languages. However, I am not adverse to a few, and this one was okay. I can’t complain much about the staging though, which hit almost perfection right on the head. It was an average piece well-performed, so if the entries remain on average at the level they are currently for the rest of the competition, Normandy and Picardy should be getting a few votes from Ethane. Next up, we have Kannap.

10 - Kannap
I really like this song actually in terms of its musical value. The basic nature of the song, and the rather limited range of instruments is actually what makes me like this song, as it is employed effectively to create a fairly good song. It got me interested from the start, and while to some extent it is a little repetitive, there was enough differences in it to keep me interested just as my interest in the song started to drop. What I didn’t like so much would be the lyrics. I felt they weren’t all that great and felt a little boring although there was a decent meaning behind it. The staging also didn’t live up to standards - in fact I felt like there wasn’t much in the way of staging, which let the song down. In contrast to the previous song, this was a good song executed badly. Next up, lets hope for a decent entry from Ardoki.

11 - Ardoki
I’ve never taken kindly to this contest being used as an advertising venue when it is supposed to be a demonstration of a nation’s musical talent, so I am extremely hostile to this entry. This sounds much like something North Korea would do - try to brainwash people into joining them - as I’m sure thats what this is, a piece of brainwashing propoganda, hence why we had to stop broadcasting the song half-way through (there were reports of people rushing out to join Ardoki). If we do find that Ardoki was in fact trying to brainwash Ethanese people, then the government will likely act in any capacity they can against the state of Ardoki. Next up, and hopefully something that fits more into the decorum of the contest, its Adab…

12 - Adab
This wasn’t as bad as some of the entries they’ve sent previous. While Adab will never be a nation that really appeals to the Ethanese taste of music, we can respect that they stick to their musical principles, and in the wake of the problems the singer is facing against some of those who wish to replace him back in Adab, we wish him the best and hope he stays in the role, and will be supporting him in any capacity to prevent him being killed. I can’t say I see really any points going to Adab, but congratulations. The lyrics are fairly creative and flow nicely, and the performance has certain decent aspects which I enjoyed. Next up, Estogium.

13 - Estogium
No. I’m sorry, but no. That just wasn’t good. While the basicness of the verses gets me straight into it, as I did at the start, with the pre-chorus building it up perfectly, so excited for the chorus in anticipation. Waiting it for it, and then it came, and I lost all love for this song. I absolutely hate that chorus, I’m sorry but it just doesn’t fit with the song. I didn’t so much like the lyrics in the chorus either. The vocalists are also quite a big putoff. I just feel their voices aren’t right for the song, and feel a little weird. I just didn’t enjoy the tune. However, staging wise it was amazing, as was to be expected. I loved the song, I just wish the song itself was better. However, this is a great exploratory song, and it is great to see Estogium trying something new. The religious imagery was amazing and fitted the song well though, so bonus points for that. Next up is Electrum

14 - Electrum
I like the lyrics and the theme behind it. The tune is not bad in itself either, although I feel it is a little repetitive and feels like it is missing something. However, I absolutely detest the singer. First off, I would like to ask what they are wearing. I’ve honestly not seen much more stupid costumes than that, so whoever was the costume designer needs to get fired. However, the vocals were also poor. The singer was just not doing it for me, the vocals done poorly. However, their staging hit the nail on the head, beautiful stuff. It’ll be interesting to see where it ranks overall though. Next up, we have the hosts, Mercedini.

15 - Mercedini
Sorry hosts, but I don’t like it. The opening act was better than this, and that got a bit annoying. While this song didn’t get annoying, it just wasn’t good. The performer was not really my type of thing, and while the execution of the performance was relatively good, the performer himself lacked in performance qualities. It felt flat and dull, and this damaged the songs chances. The lyrics themselves are okay. But I just feel that they chose the wrong guy to perform them. Sorry. Next up, we have Electrum Diplomatic Offices.

16 - Electrum Diplomatic Offices

What on earth was that. I’m not joking. What. On. Earth. Did. I. Just. Watch. I think only 2 entries in this edition qualify as worse than this - Darkmania and Missus X - so I don’t know what EDO was trying with this. The lyrics were awful, and wholly terrible, the performance and staging was lacking in almost all departments, including decency (although we all know that is not expected of Gertrude), and last but certainly least is the quality of the actual song itself, which was basically utter rubbish. I’m not sure about you, but I certainly wouldn’t vote for them. But it is 2016, so we can’t be sure… Next up, with hopefully something more, or in any way, shape, or form, decent is Mister X.

17 - Mister X
Has anyone ever told that singer how annoying he and his music is? Because I feel it is about time they do. Basically, you’re annoying. Luckily for you, mister Filius, most of the entries this edition are also annoying, and some of them plain terrible, so you might actually be in with a chance of getting some points - lucky you. Don’t take it for granted though, its not because your performance is good. It’s because of a combination of other entries making it slightly easier for you, and by the work of whoever wrote the lyrics, who did a rather good job, and whoever planned your staging, which is also amazing. Nothing to do with you. It’s Mister X trying to modernise its songs to have a shot at winning… and failing at it. You can go now. Next up we have Zeganas.

18 - Zeganas
The lyrics are terrible. Boring. Dull. What is this? Why am I doing this? Am I even getting paid enough to listen to all this crap. I wish I didn’t have to listen to any of this. I don’t even like Worldvision. Yet I’ve signed on a contract, so I guess I’m going to have to get to enjoy it. The music is not great. I dislike it. It feels rather repetitive, and it just doesn’t fit what I want. Can’t perform either, with that terrible staging. Next up is us at Ethane.

19 - Ethane
Is it starting yet? - nope. Now? Nope. Now? Nope. When is it starting? Next Worldvision? Are you performing this song next Worldvision, and this is you starting? You do realise the next one is probably not going to be in Mercedini right? You know where it is going to be right? You should be there instead. Go home. We’re bored. See ya next edition. Goodbye. Get off. Oh, you’re actually starting now? That’s nice. I couldn’t even care less if you had the nicest song to sing in the world, you butchered it with waiting 5 years to sing it. Your hair is going grey now? Oh, you’re dead? Shame? Last tonight, we have Izmedu.

20 - Izmedu
That is such an annoying voice. While the song itself isn’t too bad, it is let down by the singer, who is just awful. I’m sorry, but if you can’t get a good singer to perform, you shouldn’t even bother attending Worldvision, it’s just common sense. This is just rubbish, I’m surprised Izmedu entered something this bad. That staging ain’t half bad tho.
Cuts out -
A different man, called Alex (Chris) appears on screen -
Sorry for that, he got a bit tired. This is a beautiful song, and really emotionally moving. The lyrics are also beautiful. Really well thought out song, and should score well.
Esportivan and Proud.

Miles: Kalosia!!!!!!!

Petra: Congratulations to EVE from Kalosia with their song "Living". We now invite them back up to the stage for the winners' reprise!

Miles: Thank You to you all for watching and listening in the stadium and to you at home. We hope you enjoyed the contest, but for now, the winners of the 52nd WorldVision Song Contest and here to perform their winning song... it's EVE!

Winners' Reprise
Living — EVE
(to the tune of Greedy by Ariana Grande)

It was now time to perform again. The stage was dark, with a spotlight on the girls. All three of them made a circle at the centre of the stage with one hand in the circle (kinda like this). A camera was recording from above, and the girls sang the first lines to the song.[/align]

Living
So what are you doing it for?

The girls each lifted their hands simultaneously and then made a formation — the audience and viewers saw Elena on the left, Violeta in the middle, and Eida on the right. They're far apart enough from each other that the camera focuses on whoever's singing, with no other member in the frame. The background shows a sparkling red pattern. They start doing choreography (see studio dance rehearsal footage for reference).

When the shadows lurkin’, knockin’ at your door
No one listens and you feel like dropping to the floor

Though you struggle to understand
We can do this hand in hand
So go take a few steps, just some more

The camera zooms out a bit to focus on both Elena and Violeta, and at the end of this next part the three of them take a few steps forward, with Elena and Eida moving closer to Violeta.

And in this day and night, and in this day and night
And in this day and night,
oh o~oh!

Now the three do more choreography, all synchronized and performed well. The camera uses shots that pan the stage and the three singers.

Let me say, because of you I’ve found my inner peace
I keep moving
(Cause I’m) still living
(Yes, I’m alive)

Never say goodbye cause I have found my puzzle piece
I keep breathing
(Cause I’m) still living
(Yes, I am still)

Living
So what are you doing it for?
You still wanna live it some more
(Yes, I am still)

Towards the end of the next chorus, the three girls walk towards the back of the stage and go back to their earlier positions, doing similar choreography to the previous verse.

Living
So what are you doing it for?
You still wanna live it some more
(Yes I’m alive)

The camera now focuses on the person(s) singing, just like earlier.

Will you realise you’re sensitively sweet?
Like you, every person counts, but your heart skips a beat

When everyone’s fighting for love
Open the heavens above
Then you know to get up on your feet… oh baby

At the end of the next part, the three girls walk forward again, just like at the beginning of the first chorus.

And in this day and night, and in this day and night
And in this day and night,
oh o~oh!

The girls do choreography similar to that done in the previous choruses, and the camera pans the stage again.

Let me say, because of you I’ve found my inner peace
I keep moving
(Cause I’m) still living
(Yes, I’m alive)

Never say goodbye cause I have found my puzzle piece
I keep breathing
(Cause I’m) still living
(Yes, I am still)

Living
So what are you doing it for?
You still wanna live it some more
(Cause I’m still)

Living
So what are you doing it for?
You still wanna live it some more
(Yes I’m alive)

The girls walk back again, but instead of going into another verse, they slowly kneel down. The stage dims, leaving only spotlights on the three girls. The camera records from the front of the stage, using a still shot.

(Living, I’m living, I’m living, I’m living, I’m living, I’m living, I’m living, I’m living, alive)

Then they slowly get up again.

(Living, I’m living, I’m living, I’m living, I’m living, I’m living, I’m living, I’m living, alive)

The girls move to the front of the stage again, and now as the lights return to as it was before, they do a new set of choreography while the camera pans the stage once again, occasionally focusing on one of the members.

Let me say, because of you I’ve found my inner peace
I keep moving
(Cause I’m) still living
(Yes, I’m alive)

Never say goodbye cause I have found my puzzle piece
I keep breathing
(Cause I’m) still living
(Yes, I am still)

Living
So what are you doing it for?
You still wanna live it some more
(Cause I’m still)

Living
So what are you doing it for?
You still wanna live it some more
I am ali~ive (Cause I’m still)

Living
So what are you doing it for? (So tell me why you’re living)
You still wanna live it some more (So tell me why you li~ive)
(Cause I’m still)

Living
So what are you doing it for?
You still wanna live it some more
(Yes, I’m alive)

The crowd cheers, and the girls take a bow. Elena, Eida, and Violeta then take turns thanking the crowd in Kalosian, Mercedinian, and English respectively, before the credits role to signal the end of the WorldVision Song Contest.
