OOC Thread | WV51 in Kyvivre | Host Bid

The stadium was filled to capacity, the audience were muttering to themselves waiting for the contest to begin. An orchestra present on the stage began to tune their instruments while a young man walks through the audience towards the front of the stage. Once he made his way up to the front of the stage, he clicked his fingers; attracting the attention of the audience and causing the orchestra to stop tuning their instrument. He sung the opening line of the opening act to kick off the WorldVision Song Contest!

Opening Act - Welcome to Mercedini
Tune: The Lorax OST - Thneedville

Goooooood Evening!
(Woooooooooo)

When the music kicks in, a large group of people walk up onto the stage wearing clothes of different occupations; businessmen, lollipop ladies, school children, police, firemen etc. The all spread themselves across the stage while marching on the spot in time with the music, they all wave to the audience and receive a large cheer when they start singing the opening verse together.

Mercedini!
We will welcome you a-a-a-a-all.
You'll have a ball, with ice-rinks and malls.
We've got a massive purse-dini.

The camera moves onto the stage and weaves it's way around the multitude of people on the stage, each of the people sing and wave into the camera at the people watching at home as the camera passing. The LED screen behind them displays pictures of cities and landscapes within Mercedini.

Mercedini!
It's Novapax's bees knee-ee-ee-ees.
Getting on with us, is a real breeze.
Just fill in the visa, pretty please!

The camera swaps to the side island where the pre-SongSearch participants Samuel Borlaviac and 5CARLET are standing. When the lyrics 'So we made SongSearch' are sung, they all fall through a trapdoor and are replaced by 7Seas and Rachel Nollov who then wave into the camera like nothing happened. Normality is resumed when the camera swaps to the central one which encompasses the entire stage.

Mercedini
Our songs don't do w-e-e-ell.
So we made SongSearch.
Now they're all pretty swell!
Looks like we broke the curse-dini!

The LED screen then switches to an aesthetic which shows a skyline with buildings which grow and get bigger across the screen to illustrate the lyrics on-screen. At the end of the verse, a small child is hoisted up and sings the final line, which gets a cheer from the audience.

Mercedini
We want you to know
This is where ideas, and businesses grow.
(So come and visit, and say hello!)

More people walk on the stage, this time dressed as surfers and snowboarders to illustrate the lyrics once again. Then, an old lady dressed as a nun takes centre stage to turn the song into a gospel-style song. The camera gets elevated as lights shine down on the performers on the stage, before the song turns back to normal.

Mercedini,
The weather; you can't say no.
From Langtree's sun to Orga's snow.
Money built this auditorium,
And the Sports City Stadium!
Stadium! Sta-a-a-a-adium.

The camera moves back onto the stage and zips through the crowd of people on it. The door at the back of the stage opens to reveal the Prime Minister to sing his contribution to the song contest. The camera gives a close-up to him as he starts to sing.

Prime Minister:
Dimitry Larmee-e-e-e-e!
The leader of, the Liberal Party.
Here to govern the country!

He walks forward and the camera tracks him as he walks over to the side island with some of the people that were onstage. The camera then cuts to the back of the arena to show the vast crowd and the lights emitting from the stage.

I decide what's best for Mercedini.
From taxation to foreign policy.
We welcome all of your trade deals!'
Mercedini!
Mercedini!

More people join the others on stage before building to a crescendo where confetti, sparks and fire all explode from the stage the song explodes in delight. The orchestra at the sides are playing their instruments while everyone else is singing, dancing and jumping around with joy on the stage. The rest of the audience waves the flags and are dancing their own dance in the crowd.

(hip hooray, hip hooray, hip hip hooray!)
Mercedini!
Hope you enjoy your stay.
(It's like livin' in paradise!)
It's Perfect!
You won't take that away!
Everything's worse-dini,
Very diverse-dini,
Just immerse-dini!
We welcome you to...
Meeeeeercedini!

The lights stop moving and focus solely on the performers on stage. Everyone throws their arms up in the air and looks up to the sky to signal the end of the song, the crowd erupts with applause and waves their flags frantically. The camera moves back to the rear of the stadium to show the crowd.

The lights go out on the stage and all the performers onstage quickly scuttle off the stage. A female voice announces itself over the arena speakers to welcome the hosts on stage.

"Welcome to the 52nd WorldVision Song Contest LIVE from the Ignavi Auditorium. Please welcome your hosts, Miles Castrada and Petra Ogdenovic!!"

Miles: Hello Everybody! Welcome to Mercedini for the 52nd WorldVision Song Contest, I'm Miles Castrada...

Miles: Indeed. Tonight, artists and performers from all over the multiverse will sing and dance their hearts out and at the end of the night, one of them will be crowned the winner of the 52nd WorldVision Song Contest.

Singers' Presentation
Tune: Retrovision - Puzzle

For the Singers' Presentation, all of the night's acts walk onto the stage individually in order of appearance in the contest. The announcer over the arena speakers then announces the name of the nation first in English, then in the native language of the country. While the performers walk on and off the stage, each of the acts are accompanied by a woman wearing a dress in the colours of the nation she is accompanying (e.g. the lady with the Mercedinian act will wear a blue and black dress), then the lady strikes a modelling pose and the LED lights flash with the flag of the nation. The act then walks off the stage to make way for the next act. When the final act walks off the stage, the camera cuts to Miles and Petra who are standing to the connected island.

Miles: So, those are all of tonight's acts that will be vying for your votes.

Petra: We will announce when the lines are open to you can hang fire for the moment. For now, you can sit back, relax and maybe open a bag of popcorn and a beer and enjoy this festival of music!

Miles: Thanks Petra, boy I can't wait a moment longer for the contest to begin. Shall we do the honors?

Petra: Okay!

BOTH: May the best song win, and let the 52nd WorldVision Song Contest begin!!!!

DaTV Commentary

Postby Darkmania » Tue Nov 22, 2016 5:34 am

LIVE FROM LANGRTREE IN MERCENDINI, ITS WSC 52!!

DaTV commentary hosted by Frëdrik Känase and Julia Festmedne!

Because we, DaTV, stole Electrum`s commentators, here are new ones. OH GOD WE ARE SO SORRY!

Image

Julia Festmedne (Music critic)
Frëdrik Känase (Comentator for DaTV)

Piacere e Benvenuto al Mercedini, this year's host for the WSC. I'm with Julia Festmedne.
Thats me!
And this year, we are uniting with 18 nations from all over the multiverse to have fun and to spread cultures from all over the world. And to see how low Darkmania can go. But mostly the culture part.
That`s true, Däniel. Now. I gonna say some words. "Good luck to all nations, and may the best entry win". Now, we have 18 entires to critique!

Take what i said about that "The WSC spread cultures for all over the world". Now, put some gasoline and light that up.
We spent a ton of danks (darkmanian currency) to send her? Lyrics is a trainwreck, but at least the performance is good and this is catchy as heck.

What the fuck is this shit?
That`s just gay porn! Hey Missus X! Kids are watching this show! Dont give them nigthmares!

-Add dialoge-
-Add dialoge-

They are back after some issues that prevented them to enter last year. And i has to say they sent a solid entry this year.
-Add dialoge-

05. Krytenia

I`m a fan of entries that don't use English. For me
The performance is good. Lyrics are good. Heck, even the background are just "Oh my god! The performer must make his/her/attack helicopter nation proud!"

-Add dialoge-
-Add dialoge-

08. Kalosia

09. Normandy and Picardy

10. Kannap

Nothing brings more fun than a entry from Aridoki.
Even if i wish that they send someone else next year.... Wait! Is this just pro-Ardokian propaganda?!?

No
-Add dialoge-

-Add dialoge-
Apart of him almost being naked at the cover of his album, he is a good singer. The lyrcics are awsome to hear

14

I have a vague memory that two Electrumites were the commentators here instead of us, but I sure I’m dreaming.
Yes, you do.
The Tune makes me listen more of how awesome they are! Lyrics is like if Kanye West were good, and not auto-tuned to death!

16

Kids, this is what`s happen if you snort too much cocaine! That and our entry this year!
Lyrics makes me ask why I said yes to commentate here this year! What kind of drugs are she on?

#AspirationNation? Come on! We used hashtags for our entries since `51 and now uses the hashtag #GoodLuckDarkmania for our entries! But I’m not suing those for copying us. We are here to critique them!

Tune used to be awesome, but too much overplay has made me tired of that tune. Lyrics often repeat the same lines so much, it`s turning me insane. Sorry Mister X, your entry isn`t my standards.

Rick Leg - "I Love To Dance"
Tune: Nicki Minaj - "Starships"
.

Rick Leg comes out onto the stage, wearing absolutely nothing save for a pair of tight red speedos and starts dancing sexually on the stage.

I'm a total bitch, bitch
Fuck it away, way, way, let them all say
I just wanna fuck, fuck, fuck them all night,
Bad bitches like me are hard to come by,
I'm a troll, oh, I'll get it on,
Cause she's one, one, she's number one,
And then two and three really don't think
That I'm any good in bed with them.

Scantily-clad ladies then walk onto the stage with green hair and pink bikins on.

I am a whore, whore,
I love to "dance",
I just want more, more,
'Til you can't stand,
Get on the floor, floor,
'Cause you should have sex,
So give me more, more,
And here I am

Snort coke and get real high
Have sex and start to fly
Don't stop, and just get high
Then do it many a time,
Snort coke and get real high
Have sex and start to fly
Then do it one more time,
Can't stop, I am a literal motherfucker!

The ladies and Rick then start dancing incredibly suggestively, causing some members of the audience to look away...

I am a literal motherfucker!

... and for some television networks to drop off air.

I am a literal motherfucker!
Fuck in my beddy-beddy-bed, I know that
I wanna fuck bitches all night, I'm a twat,
I'll fuck who I want and fuck who I like,
Bwoah, my life, it's bloody brilliant,
Baa baa black sheep, have-ya-any-wool?

Rick Leg then loses his marbles.

When you're so high you don't know what you're saying,
But that's all fun so just go out and enjoy it,
R to the I to the C to the K
To the L to the E to the G G G,

Rick then regains a certain amount of decorum... well, he starts singing normally again...

Get on the floor, floor,
'Cause you should have sex,
So give me more, more,
And here I am

Snort coke and get real high
Have sex and start to fly
Don't stop, and just get high
Then do it many a time,
Snort coke and get real high
Have sex and start to fly
Then do it one more time,
Can't stop, I am a literal motherfucker!

The ladies then start dancing suggestively around Rick. The obvious tent being erected in his speedos is obvious.

I am a literal motherfucker!

The lights all suddenly go out.

I am a literal motherfucker!
Snort coke and get real high
Have sex and start to fly
Don't stop, and just get high
Then do it many a time,

Then they come back on...

Snort coke and get real high
Have sex and start to fly
Then do it one more time,
Can't stop, I am a literal motherfucker!

Rick and company begin to dance again.

I am a literal motherfucker!
I am a literal motherfucker!

Rick gets booed off the stage when the lights suddenly go out.

Convikt ft. Rachel Nollov - Flying Above
Tune: Dami Im - Fighting for Love

The song starts with Rachel standing in the center of the stage with Convikt behind her on an elevated DJ set with the stage darkened but with mild strobing in time with the song. Smoke covered the stage floor, the camera was already up on stage and was circling Rachel, the camera moved to in front of her in time for her to sing the opening lyrics.

My coffee's cold, in my cup
I spread my wings, they lift me up.
I'm leaving now, soon I'll be gone
Am I your, only one?

The stage lights up and the camera angle sweeps along the bottom of the stage as Rachel sings into the audience, the LED screens behind her are completely white, as is the floor. The lights are focused on Rachel and are flashing on and off in time with the music. Rachel then sings into the central camera which is zoomed in on her face and upper torso. When she sings the final the camera sweeps out into the audience, meaning Rachel gets smaller within the expanse of the stadium as the camera retreats.

If you know, if you know what picks me up.
Do you think, that my love will be enough.
Uh oh
Off the ground, can you see me in the sky?
Breaking free, do you want to get so high...
above

Two male dancers walk from the back of the stage and stand each side of Rachel as she sings the lead-up to the dance section. They stand still as Rachel sings. The three backing singers standing in front of the DJ set assist Rachel in singing the lines and fill in the gaps when Rachel doesn't sing. The strobing gets more intense as the song approaches the instrumental part of the song.

I'm flying above
The clouds are the only things I see
I'm flying above
I'm floating above the deep blue sea
I'm flying above
(I'm flying, I'm flying above)
I'm flying above
(I'm flying, I'm flying above)
(I'm flying, I'm flying above)

When the beat kicks in, Rachel and the dancers do a polished dance routine in the centre of the stage while cameras in the arena do sweeping shots far away from the stage. A wind machine is turned on which blows away the carpet of smoke on the stage, it also blows Rachel's hair and her and the dancers' clothes. Stobing gets intense as the beat and the backing singers perform their duties

I'm flying, I'm flying above

The stage darkens once again and the strobing subsides, the camera moves back on the stage with Rachel as she sings the second verse. She gives a small wink into the camera as the camera circles Rachel once again. The backing dancers swing their arms in time with the music with Convikt twisting knobs in the background, like DJs do.

You'll miss me, when I win
The boundary is, paper thin
Even if you think I am fading
When you're down, you'll be wrong
The final match, won't be long

One of dancers approaches Rachel and the do an intricate dance routine featuring a lot of foot movements and hand gestures with each other. When she sings the last note, she lifts her hand in the air, and the camera does another sweeping shot into the audience.

If you know, if you know what picks me up.
Do you think, that my love will be enough.
Uh oh
Off the ground, can you see me in the sky?
Breaking free, do you want to get so high...
above?

The stage turns completely white and Rachel looks to the sky and sings with her head up, the dancers move to the side of the stage while the backing dancers move to the centre-rear of the stage. As she reaches the end of the lead-up, the sticks her arms in the air and jumps about

I'm flying above
The clouds are the only things I see
I'm flying above
I'm floating above the deep blue sea
I'm flying above
(I'm flying, I'm flying above)
I'm flying above
(I'm flying, I'm flying above)
(I'm flying, I'm flying above)

Another polished dance routine from the trio at the front of the stage with strobing and sparks flying from the stage. She gives her all before finishing the dance routine and walking to the side of the stage.

When she's finished her dance routine, she walks along the catwalk to the connected island where she sings into the camera and let's out the note off her life which gets a large cheer from the audience.

(I'm flying above, I'm flying above)
I'm flying above!
'bove, 'bove!

Off the ground, can you see me in the sky?
Breaking free, do you want to get so high...
above?
I'm flying abooooooooooooove!

She walks back to the main section of the stage where her backing singers and dancers all join her at the front of the stage where they all strike a pose and the lights focus on her, signalling the end of the song.

I'm flying above
Above
Above
(I'm flying above, I'm flying above)
I'm flying above
Above
Above

The crowd erupts as their hometown girl finishes her performance, she smiles and thanks the crowd "Grazij, Mercedini, Thank You all very much!!". She walks off stage while waving at the audience to make way for the act from Polkopia

04. Polkopia
Silvija Polzin - Last Kiss

Silvija Polzin is the Polkopian representative for the 52nd Worldvision Song Contest. She had won the latest edition of the Landa vy Polkopiya, but due to international conflicts which resulted in the destabilization of the Polkopian Dollar, the PNB had to withdraw from the competition in Britonisea. The PNB simply did not receive the necessary amount of funding from the Polkopian government as a result of the crisis, so Polkopia was unable to participate, however the contest was still shown live and millions of Polkopian citizens witnessed Normandy and Picardy take home the gold. With the financial crisis still ongoing, doubts on whether or not the PNB would rejoin and have Polkopia compete in the Worldvision Song Contest loomed over peoples' minds, but it was announced that Polkopia would return, and that they would send Silvija Polzin to represent Polkopia with the song that won her the National FInal.

Currently, Silvija walked up to the stage and took her place, the audience still applauding the entry from Cosneolta. As it died down, the postcard for Polkopia was shown, and soon enough it was time to sing. Silviya wore a white blouse with black pants, and her black hair was in a bun, tied in an extravagant white hair bow. Her earrings matched the same white and black pattern, and her makeup, even matched. The right side of her lips were painted black, and the other half were white, and her eyeshadow was colored the opposite. Otherwise, her skin looked pale and fragile, but also quite beautiful. In the background, two male backup singers and one female singer were all positioned on a large pedestal in the back of the stage. The pedestal had a LED screen, and matched the stage's LED screen as well. The music started playing and Silvija looked up immediately at the camera, cocked her head slightly, and sang. As she sang, the background showed a pattern of black and white rhombuses and the black row would shift in sync with the rhythm. The floor and the spiral pillar on the stage showed the same thing, but with the rhombuses moving vertically instead.

Oh my sweet baby...
Don't forget when we were younger...
How we'd always sit and wonder...
How we fell so in love with each other

With each other...
We would make each other stronger
You went up and I went under...
In each others' arms.

Silvija stood by her microphone stand and looked up at the ceiling as she sang the chorus. Fog machines made a light fog that crept across the floor of the stage, reaching Silvija's ankles.

Our last kiss, I'll surely miss
We danced that night, then you leave
Left me, me here to grieve
Don't leave leave leave leave leave leave leave...

In our last kiss - happiness
You brought me here, and here I live
Wondering what, what I did
Don't leave leave leave leave leave leave leave...

Silvija looked back at the camera, all the pain and emotion completely gone from her face as she sang the next verse. The fog seemed to dissipate immediately, and the stage lost its haunting feel.

Oh my sweet baby...
We never left each others' side, no
Never left each others sight, no
I can't stand here without you next to me...

Silvija looked down at the floor and closed her eyes, but only for an instant. When she looked up, the contacts in her eyes seemed to immediately change her eye color to an icy blue, and she looked back up at the ceiling and sang with her arms outstretched. The pain and emotion returned to her face, and the fog machine released much more fog than before. So much that the fog crept up to Silvija's shoulders. The background changed from the diamond pattern to an icestorm and fake snow was released from the ceiling. A wind machine blew the fake snow all around the stage chaotically and light effects from the ceiling mimicked that of lightning as she sang.

Our last kiss, I'll surely miss
We danced that night, then you leave
Left me, me here to grieve
Don't leave leave leave leave leave leave leave...

In our last kiss - happiness
You brought me here, and here I live
Wondering what, what I did
Don't leave leave leave leave leave leave leave...

Silvija paused and looked down at the floor. The chaos still occurred in the background, but Silvija clutched her heart, tears rolling down her face as the background singers sang.

(You leave me, I need you)
(You leave me, I need you)
(You leave me, I need you)
(You leave me, I need you)

Silvija held her ears with her hands and sang out, eyes closed, looking downward.

Don't say you're gone
Don't you dare say you're already gone
Before you do, think about all of us
We all love you so much.

Silvija punched out to the sky and sang the first line, eyes still closed and facing slightly above eye-level. As she sang the rest, she opened her eyes and sang with extended arms, but the pain on her face getting less and less as the song progressed. The fog began to dissipate by halfway through the chorus, and by the end, it was all gone.

Our last kiss, I'll surely miss
We danced that night, then you leave
Left me, me here to grieve
Don't leave leave leave leave leave leave leave...

In our last kiss - happiness
You brought me here, and here I live
Wondering what, what I did
Don't leave leave leave leave leave leave leave...

By the end, the stage was just how it was at the beginning, with white diamonds, no fog, and Silivja looking at the camera. The marks of tears going through her makeup were slightly visible, and her eyes were slightly red, but she had no look of pain on her face. She blinked a few times, cocked her head, and smiled at the very last beat.

The song was over, and Silvija cleared her throat and blew out kisses to the crowd. "Thank you! Thank you Mercedini!"

05. Krytenia: Violet Zuider - "Step Back In Time"
Image

As the song intro plays, the backwall screens shaw a cityscape on timelapse, moving from day to night. The circular stage itself pulses with neonescent lights, yellow, blue, pink, green, to the beat of the bassline.

The night has come, the lights are shining
Neon fires up the sky
The mirror ball, the spotlights
I know it's time to fly

A glitterball effect shoots down the videoscreens of the spiral. Golden sparks shoot off as the ball passes.

DJ, taking it back in time, hits that rhyme I know
Take the bassline to the floor
We're moving to the golden sound
An olden sound...
A musical time machine!

The entire stage is lit up in coloured squares as Vi hits the chorus. Smoke billows from behind her, revealing a quartet of male dancers in tight silver vest tops and matching flares. The copy her moves as she dances through the chorus.

Hit the danceflo-o-r
Move your feet
Use the beat and you'll see
It's in the rhythm
So ease your mind
Step back in time with me.

Again, the cityscape, this time moving from night to day.

The morning comes, the sun is shining
But we're not gonna stop this ride
The disco groove it takes me

The background goes completely psychadelic at this point, like some sort of MC Escher lava lamp.

Back to the seventies,
Back to the seventies!

The glitterball effect again; as the words "musical time machine" are sung, a slide compartment at the rear of the stage reveals a quasi-futuristic silver gull-wing car which the male dancers decide to dance on like they're filming a calendar for some ladies' petrolhead magazine.

DJ, taking it back in time, hits that rhyme I know
Take the bassline to the floor
We're moving to the golden sound
An olden sound...
A musical time machine!

Back to the coloured squares.

Hit the danceflo-o-r
Move your feet
Use the beat and you'll see
It's in the rhythm
So ease your mind
Step back in time with me.

Vi leaps off the stage, singing whilst walking past the front row of the crowd; the spotlights are on them, bathing them in all sorts of colours.

Hit the dancefloor!
Move your feet
Use the beat tonight!

The car moves front and centre as Vi sings the next three lines and comes back to the stage.

I won't be told where I got to go
I won't be told who I got to be
So come and dance through history!

Vi leaps onto the bonnet for the final chorus.

Hit the danceflo-o-r
It's in the rhythm
So ease your mind
Step back in time with me.

So hit the danceflo-o-r
Move your feet
Use the beat and you'll see
It's in the rhythm
So ease your mind
Step back in time with me!

06. _Tödlichebujoku_

Piece By Piece

Momoko Krebs

After taking a hiatus in WV51, TÖBUK contacted Momoko Krebs, former Sinun Valintasi entrant and twin sister of WHF-winning Anja Krebs, to see if she would be interested in performing in WV52. Surprised and eager for a chance at the world stage, Momoko gladly accepted and decided to perform "Piece By Piece", a song she had recorded recently and had fallen in love with, with its strong voice and character calling out willful ignorance in the face of impending doom. The song also incorporates a clip from a beloved, classical Tödlichebujoki song that has never been performed live in respect to its tragically deceased singer, Helmut Seppánen, who died while performing on stage. With the performance, Momoko has noted that she tried not to invite too many comparisons by Anja's winning WHF performance, but couldn't resist the opportunity for a bit of extravagance. Thus, the Tödlichebujoki audience, at least, are excited to see what visual treats this half of the Krebs twins has in store for the world.

The stage is dark, lit only by a faint blue glow. Momoko is visible only as a silhouette against the stage, whispering into the microphone
Translation:

The storm comes to take everything away

How can I save you when you won't save yourself?
Myrsky tulee viemáán kaiken pois
Miten miná voin, paitsi teitá, kun te ette...
Pelastaudu?

As the music bursts into being, steam shoots into the air from around the stage, and the lights flood on to reveal Momoko with her back to the audience, clad in a black cape. She swivels around to face the audience as she begins to sing, almost confrontationally, and strides toward the edge of the stage. Beneath the cape, she is seen to be wearing a sleek white dress wrapped in maroon sashes
Years and years of raging tears, over you, left me distraught
All this time I saw the signs that you had always blocked
You turned away from crushing fear I couldn't see gone
So then I stepped away from battle lines we always had drawn

The background screens, initially showing soft gradients, appear to shatter and collapse into a sea of grayness that begins to coalesce into a band of ominous clouds, contrasting with the golden lights in the back of the auditorium. Momoko does a hair flip, and belts out the chorus with a confident stance, as if inviting a challenge
You couldn't believe me
You couldn't just listen, you took me for granted, tried to turn from the future
Now I stand in the darkness, now the storm is advancing, coming to destroy you, piece by piece

She whips her head over to face the audience to her left, and sings with heartfelt energy. The golden lights in the back of the stadium fade to darkness partway through, and strobing lights illuminate Momoko from behind as the stage spotlights dim
Oh you wouldn't believe me
You couldn't just look up, really never did notice, the fading sunlight
Now I stand in the darkness, now the storm is advancing, coming to destroy you, piece by piece

The stage is now lit only by the irregular strobe lights and lightning animations on the background screens. Lit directly from below, Momoko appears almost wraithlike, her expression difficult to read.
Now you beg me for mercy

The lights return to normal and the background screens return to their image of a faraway brewing storm. Momoko is joined by a troupe of female dancers in stylized military uniforms, who fluidly and synchronously breeze in behind her, then march to encircle her and make moves to restrain her. As she begins the next verses, she struggles to tear through their circle and then succeeds. Clustering behind her, the dancers then produce imitation knives and strike her in the heart. Momoko doesn't even react as she continues singing and gestures out beyond the audience before hanging her head in disappointment
Your moves obstruct the justice struck when our love came to be
All this change has murdered all you were and had meant to me
Oh, can't I stay, and help you see the looming danger that lies beyond?
But then the tempest neared and you mindlessly refused to move on

The stage lights dim to a single spotlight on the stage, and the background screens fade to black. The dancers leave stage as the music stops, and return while wheeling what appears to a crystalline antique radio with mantlepiece decorations and champagne glasses. A plush antique-looking ottoman is also wheeled in, onto which Momoko collapses with a champagne glass, as if coming to terms with something beyond her control. The radio plays a clip of an old Tödlichebujoki classical song as mist invades the stage
Years, fall like snowflakes
My frozen tongue can barely speak
Stubbornness robs vibrant life
Vuodet, pudotkaa kuten lumihiutaleet
Minun jáátynyt kieleni osaa hádin tuskin puhua
Itsepáisyys ryóstáá eloisan elámán...

A lightning bolt is shown on the background screen briefly as all the spotlights flash. Momoko rises and stands on top of the ottoman as steadily as she can, throwing the champagne glass onto the floor and shattering it. She is singing with all her energy and passion, all the power and emotion she can muster, a raging grief with hints of disappointment and anger
You couldn't believe me
You couldn't just listen, you took me for granted, tried to turn from the future
Now I stand in the darkness, now the storm is advancing, coming to destroy you, piece by piece

No you wouldn't believe me
You couldn't just look up, really never did notice, the fading sunlight
Now I stand in the darkness, now the storm is advancing, coming to destroy you, piece by piece

She looks down, almost resigned, with the camera angle from below
Now you beg me for mercy

The lighting softens again, as Momoko sits back down on the ottoman with a more relaxed and less desperately aggressive posture. Letters begin to drift down from above. With a surprised demeanor, she continues, as if querying the audience. Her surprise turns to indignation by the end of the verse
So now you beg me for mercy, but is my mercy your cure?
Oh I tried to warn you, but did you heed my alarm?
Now you beg me for mercy!
So now you beg me for mercy...

Momoko flips the top of the ottoman over, and lifts a flamethrower from within it. As she arms herself with it, the backing dancers march in from behind with semiautomatic rifles. Momoko opens up with the flamethrower as a whirlwind develops and the letters are picked up and swirl about. Her backing dancers open fire with blanks shooting over the audience, and the whirlwind of letters becomes a whirlwind of flaming pages. The ottoman and decorations on the radio also catch fire
You couldn't believe me
You never could listen, you took me for granted, tried to turn from the future
Now I stand in the darkness, now the storm is advancing, coming to destroy you, piece by piece

Oh you never would heed me
You couldn't just look up, really couldn't have noticed, the fading sunlight
Now I stand in the darkness, now the storm is advancing, coming to destroy you, piece by piece

The camera zooms in on Momoko's face, wreathed in flames
Now you beg me for mercy

The fires and firing die down, and she turns her head away, as if disappointed
How you beg me for mercy

She disengages her flamethrower and looks back toward the audience for a parting glance, one of pity but also of sadness, before fully turning away and walking to the back of the stage as the lights fade out behind her. At this point her cape is also partially on fire. A sudden lightning bolt is projected on the smoke from the smoldering embers left behind, followed by a rolling thunderclap

The lights return to normal and the embers are extinguished as Momoko, having removed her burning cape, shouts, "Kiitos Langtree! Thank you all!" and she and the dancers bow and leave the stage. The ashes are then swept away and the furniture removed for the next act.

07. Tomikosan
Song: Rolling for You by C.R.A.F.T
Tune to: Howlin' for You by The Black Keys

The fans are ready to watch the rock band performing with their hit single, which is one of the most popular in Tomikosan. Worldvision fans, even those from Tomikosan, are cheering loudly as they can to warm them up. A cresendo of the cymbals - along with the flashing multicoloured disco lights - start to build up intensity to the audiences by a mile, followed a crashing sound of all the drum cymbals. The lights later shine in to reveal the drummer of C.R.A.F.T, Takuya Anzai, as he waves his drum stick higher with amazement and happiness, much to their excitement of the crowds.

Entering the stage are the singers, Rinto Henderson, Asuka 'Hercules' Poirot and Frederick Barton and bassist Callum Percival. As they come up to the stage, Rinto shouts to the crowd and proudly welcomes them, 'Are you ready, boys and girls?'. There are a number of responses from crowds, mostly saying yes. Not hearing them clearly enough, Frederick replied back to them, this time with the voice louder than an excavator site, 'I CAN"T HERE YOU!! ARE YOU READY?' Everyone boomingly goes into 'yeah's' and 'yes's' and pretty much set the tone for C.R.A.F.T and their fans.

The LED screen now shows the waving flag of Tomikosan to show their love of the country. And so with the 1-2-3 count, the rock band started playing their song right away. Takuya starts by going with the ballad rock drum piece. The guitarists soon followed with the kick. The singers start off with a couple of phrases thrown in before the first verse.

{All righty!}
{Hell Yeah!}
{Let's Start}

Rinto sings the first verse with his microphone stand, standing at the middle of the stage. One of the lights shine to him as he starts singing.

The lonely boy,
It's my nickname,
'Cause I walk alone,
in Kanzig,

That's true
They think I'm Rolling for You

Rinto hands over microphone stand to Frederick, even though he already has one on stage. Realising his mistake, Rinto keeps it to himself but continue on like nothing happened. The cameras all face to Frederick as he is preparing to sing the second verse.

I always said
'No worries'
But bad mistakes
Keep on spinning

Again
They think I'm Rolling for You

The crowd seem to love the song's catchy tune and lyrics that are worth looking up for. Asuka announces to them to prepare for their traditional language included in here.

{Here it goes!}

The three singers start to sing the part where the Kerintilus language has to be sung. Some of the crowds don't understand the language while others enjoy the music. It goes more like this..........

Borusch ta vel na, [Just one more time]
Meryesey ermun, [I'll keep on rolling]
Tavorsa rosch'ka, [and then the boys know]
Renata bastier. [the meanings are hiding]

Bormi sen jura, ['Are you better now?']
Merkur ti hurnier, [Not just yet, my friend.]
Kadiczi xer ha, [I don't see a point here]
Rel min kep servun. [I will stop breathing, now.]

This part is over and the boys immediately go into dancing as they place their microphone stands to the floor. Rinto shuffles for a bit, whilst Frederick does the robot dance. As they get closer to the end of the rest, both quickly grab the mic to prepare for the third verse. Frederick starts off this.

End of ruins,
Blending voices,
I recall the distant colours

Oh shoot!
They think I'm Rolling for You.

The crowd waves their glow sticks to the rhythmn and the beat. Rinto, feeling that everyone enjoys it, makes a colgate smile to his face. He sings the fourth and final verse while squatting down to his knees.

Always said
'No worries'
but the meaning's lost, and climbing hills

Then fall
They think I'm Rolling for You.

The part with the Kerintilius Language is coming back again, this time with a different set of lyrics. The singers get closer to each other as each of them make a harmonial sound.

Borusch ta vel na, [Just one more time]
Meryesey ermun, [I'll keep on rolling]
Tavorsa rosch'ka, [and then the boys know]
Renato urbei. [they whisper the hidden meanings]

Bormi sen jura, ['Are you better now?']
Horh makh ti arhei, [Just a little more, mate.]
Watri hus toekh, [Waiting 'til the end of time]
Rel min keth servun. [I will stop breathing, now.]

That didn't end there! The sparks go off and the three singers spreaded out by hopping graciously to their own spaces. The sparks stop and start singing the final part of the song.

Borusch ta vel na, [Just one more time]
Meryesey ermun, [I'll keep on rolling]
Tavorsa rosch'ka, [and then the boys know]
Renata bastier. [the meanings are hiding]

Bormi sen jura, ['Are you better now?']
Orh stark, benui suen, [I stop here, it is done]
Tirut meryesey, [If you feel tired of rolling]
stark servun fol keth. [then stop your breathing, for now.]

The songs nearly comes to an end and Rinto and Frederick goes into what they did before the third verse began. The lights flash smoothly now as things get calmer and calmer. 'Man, I love this!' Rinto silently told to himself. When the song hits to the end, the fireworks go banging for a few times before it stopped.

The crowd cheered very loudly after the performance and even the Tomikosanese fans praised them for their efforts. Everyone in the band shouted 'ENJOY YOUR BEAUTIFUL LIVES, EVERYBODY!!' before leaving the stage enthusiasticly.

Living — EVE
(to the tune of Greedy by Ariana Grande)

EVE — named after its members Elena, Violeta, and Eida — are a Kalosian girlband. They were chosen by Radiu-Televiziune Kalosia to represent the nation at the 52nd WorldVision Song Contest in Langtree, Mercedini. Violeta is notoriously known for having collaborated on a duet with the most recent entrant Ruslan Ǧamal, of which it was later revealed that the song was almost chosen to represent Kalosia at the 51st WorldVision Song Contest. Ǧamal has had his chance, it is now Violeta's.
This act, however, was not specifically formed for WorldVision. The group have produced music before and will continue their work even after the contest is over.

So here they now are in the Ignavi Auditorium, ready to perform in front of millions of people watching all over the multiverse. The girls are each wearing a white shirt with a giant red heart on it, with a skirt having floral motifs. They also use headset mics to free their hands during the choreography-intensive performance.

note: Red for Elena, Yellow for Violeta, Blue for Eida. Red and yellow make orange, blue and yellow make green, and they sing together in black.

It was now time to perform. The stage was dark, with a spotlight on the girls. All three of them made a circle at the centre of the stage with one hand in the circle (kinda like this). A camera was recording from above, and the girls sang the first lines to the song.

Living
So what are you doing it for?

The girls each lifted their hands simultaneously and then made a formation — the audience and viewers saw Elena on the left, Violeta in the middle, and Eida on the right. They're far apart enough from each other that the camera focuses on whoever's singing, with no other member in the frame. The background shows a sparkling red pattern. They start doing choreography (see studio dance rehearsal footage for reference).

When the shadows lurkin’, knockin’ at your door
No one listens and you feel like dropping to the floor

Though you struggle to understand
We can do this hand in hand
So go take a few steps, just some more

The camera zooms out a bit to focus on both Elena and Violeta, and at the end of this next part the three of them take a few steps forward, with Elena and Eida moving closer to Violeta.

And in this day and night, and in this day and night
And in this day and night,
oh o~oh!

Now the three do more choreography, all synchronized and performed well. The camera uses shots that pan the stage and the three singers.

Let me say, because of you I’ve found my inner peace
I keep moving
(Cause I’m) still living
(Yes, I’m alive)

Never say goodbye cause I have found my puzzle piece
I keep breathing
(Cause I’m) still living
(Yes, I am still)

Living
So what are you doing it for?
You still wanna live it some more
(Yes, I am still)

Towards the end of the next chorus, the three girls walk towards the back of the stage and go back to their earlier positions, doing similar choreography to the previous verse.

Living
So what are you doing it for?
You still wanna live it some more
(Yes I’m alive)

The camera now focuses on the person(s) singing, just like earlier.

Will you realise you’re sensitively sweet?
Like you, every person counts, but your heart skips a beat

When everyone’s fighting for love
Open the heavens above
Then you know to get up on your feet… oh baby

At the end of the next part, the three girls walk forward again, just like at the beginning of the first chorus.

And in this day and night, and in this day and night
And in this day and night,
oh o~oh!

The girls do choreography similar to that done in the previous choruses, and the camera pans the stage again.

Let me say, because of you I’ve found my inner peace
I keep moving
(Cause I’m) still living
(Yes, I’m alive)

Never say goodbye cause I have found my puzzle piece
I keep breathing
(Cause I’m) still living
(Yes, I am still)

Living
So what are you doing it for?
You still wanna live it some more
(Cause I’m still)

Living
So what are you doing it for?
You still wanna live it some more
(Yes I’m alive)

The girls walk back again, but instead of going into another verse, they slowly kneel down. The stage dims, leaving only spotlights on the three girls. The camera records from the front of the stage, using a still shot.

(Living, I’m living, I’m living, I’m living, I’m living, I’m living, I’m living, I’m living, alive)

Then they slowly get up again.

(Living, I’m living, I’m living, I’m living, I’m living, I’m living, I’m living, I’m living, alive)

The girls move to the front of the stage again, and now as the lights return to as it was before, they do a new set of choreography while the camera pans the stage once again, occasionally focusing on one of the members.

Let me say, because of you I’ve found my inner peace
I keep moving
(Cause I’m) still living
(Yes, I’m alive)

Never say goodbye cause I have found my puzzle piece
I keep breathing
(Cause I’m) still living
(Yes, I am still)

Living
So what are you doing it for?
You still wanna live it some more
(Cause I’m still)

Living
So what are you doing it for?
You still wanna live it some more
I am ali~ive (Cause I’m still)

Living
So what are you doing it for? (So tell me why you’re living)
You still wanna live it some more (So tell me why you li~ive)
(Cause I’m still)

Living
So what are you doing it for?
You still wanna live it some more
(Yes, I’m alive)

The crowd cheers, and the girls take a bow. Elena, Eida, and Violeta then take turns thanking the crowd in Kalosian, Mercedinian, and English respectively, then leave the stage as it is then prepared for the Normand act.

9 - Normandy and Picardy
Florence - Un Age D'Amour (An Age of Love)
Tune (Norma John - Blackbird)

No one in NNN, or in the entirity of Normandy and Picardy, could believe they had won the WorldVision Song Contest for the second time. The news was naturally met with great celebration, with Susanne Felladan (already immesly popular) being viewed as a national hero, but the sense of shock pervaded throughout. The result had been incredibly close, and it was assumed that someone else would win, but somehow Normandy and Picardy managed to steal the victory. Not long after the celebration party that made all of NNN collectively hungover for a week, plans begin to be drawn for the next entry (oh yes, NNN instantly confimed that Normandy and Picardy would be returning to the contest), and the rumour mill began turning instantly. This celebrity and that unknown talent where thrown into the ring and suggested to be the next great thing. WorldVision fever had truly gripped the nation, and in NNN it was taking its toll. There was, as you might expect, a huge air of expectation from the Normand public, wanting to hear the song that would take them to the top again, but NNN kepy everything tight for months. Just as things were beginnin to die down, NNN released the news that they would revive the NF that they had wanted to hold last time but for the lack of international interest (which interestingly resulted in the selection of the winning song). The songs were released, and soon evey Normand from Le Havre to Tinchebray suddenly reckoned themself a music expert.

However, there was to be a twist in the tale. Just like last edition, the NF had to be cancelled at the last minute, due to an inability to attract international juries and budget difficulties which also meant them broadcaster didn't go forward with their proposed, and eagerly awaited, bid to host the contest. Now, NNN were left without a song without much time to go until the contest. Help came in the form of Florence Agenette, who goes by her first name on stage. Relatively new to the Normand music scene, Florence is actually from the old Normand territory of Brittanny, but has lived in Caen since she was ten when she and her parents moved to the capital of Normandy and Picardy. Florence was classically trained, both for vocals and the piano, and perhaps unsurprisingly her main type of song is the piano ballad; she says 'With just a piano and a voice to tell the story, you can unlock the deepest of human emotions, and transport people to another world' and this is what she hopes to do with her entry, 'Un Age D'Amour' (An Age of Love). The song, sung in the French language (a first for Normandy and Picardy) is about a woman who is struggling to cope with a break up and who desperately misses her lover; it is never made clear what made him leave, and this is (according to Florence) deliberate, to let the reader finish the story and take from the song what they will. Florence pitched her song to NNN, and now she is in Langtree, Mercedini, singing to the biggest audience in the multiverse. Last contest, Normandy and Picardy won with a song that was selected after the NF fell through; could it happen again? The voting public will decide that...

The stage is pitch black as the final preparations are made for the song. No one in the audience knows what to expect from the song and they all wait in anticipation of what Normandy and Picardy are going to bring next. The song suddenly starts, but the stage remains dark as Florence sings the first line, and then as she sings the second line a faint light spotlight shines on her, walking towards to end of the stage slowly with her dress trailing slightly behind her. The spotlight picks up and lights bits of the wispy layer of smoke that lays on the stage, floating around, and it gives the whole affair an ethereal feel.

Ces draps, les mémoires d’un age d’amour (These sheets, the memories of an age of love)
Quand le sombre n’ai été pas si proche (When the darkness wasn't so near)
Et seulement nous avons su les dessins de notre peau (And only we knew the patterns of our skin)
Il semble si longtemps (It seems so long ago)

As the chorus begins, holographic candles appear, floating in the air surrounding the stage, and a white light shines from the back of the stage faintly, illuminating the smoke on the stage that laps around Florence's legs. The camera pans around the stage, focusing mainly on Florence as she sings, the camera settling in front of her at the end; she proceeds to sing into the camera, as if appealing to her lover to return.

Le bruit de la porte quand tu as parté de moi (The sound of the door as you left me)
Les larmes qui m'a noyé quand j'ai dormi (The tears that drowned me when I slept)
Et la vide ou mon coeur était avant (And the hole where my heart was before)
Et encore il me tue (And still it kills me)
Encore il me tue (Still it kills me)

As Florence sings the next verse, in the background two figures, or their outlines in white against the black background, appear, one holding the other in her arms. Then, they seem to disintegrate before reappearing dancing in one another's arms, and just before the last line they do so again, only this time they are shown arguing with one another, and one walks away before they before disintegrate before the chorus begins.

Les cauchemars et les rêves, ils sentent pareil (Nightmares and dreams, they feel the same)
Et mes mains sont engourdis (And my hands feel numb)
Je trace les cicatrices d’amour sur mon corps (I trace the scars of love on my body)
Le silence est chez moi (The silence is my home)

The two figures are replaced by a golden-white ball of light that expands to fill the background and the candles also dissapear,a whilst Florence continues singing, looking up at the camera and following it as it pans around the stage. At the end of the chorus the camera fades and the light in the background disappear, and the candles return.

Le bruit de la porte quand tu as parté de moi (The sound of the door as you left me)
Les larmes qui m'a noyé quand j'ai dormi (The tears that drowned me when I slept)
Et la vide ou mon coeur était avant (And the hole where my heart was before)
Et encore il me tue (And still it kills me)
Encore il me tue (Still it kills me)
Encore il me tue (Still it kills me)

A piano is revealed on the left hand side of the stage, being played by Florence's boyfriend Pierre, and the cameras focus on the piano, and Pierre's hands gliding across the keys. The smoke wisps around the piano, which is pure white against the darkness of the stage, and Pierre's feet. He visibly plays with great emotions, the pain being conveyed in the song showing itself in his expressions and the manner in which he plays. He is lit by a small light behind him, and a very faint spotlight.

As the instrumental ends and the build up to the last chorus begins the cameras turn away and look towards Florence once more, who begins to sing into the camera, the sadness selling up in her eyes. The white light at the back of the stage grows more intense and fades brighter and then darker throughout the chorus, until eventually at the end of final chorus the entire stage is illuminated in white. The camera returns to focus on Florence's face as the final chorus ended, before fading out with the lights.

Florence, in the darkness of the stage, runs over to Pierre, shouting 'Merci beaucoup Langtree. Nous sommes plus fort ensemble!' before leaving the stage with Pierre as preparations for the next act begin. Will Florence be able to deliver another high performance for Normandy and Picardy? Who knows...

What You Really Want -- Joyelle Cadencia

Tune: Joy Ike - The Fall Song
Image

The lights on the stage turn to a shade of green, nearly matching well with the color of Joyelle's dress. She smiles at the audience as she walks out onto the stage and begins nodding. The music begins and she starts swaying back and forth.

You are just a child in my opinion
Screaming out loud and throwing tantrums and demanding,
“Girl, this is what I really want!”

As she sings the first line, she starts walking towards the front of the stage from where she was standing further to the back of the stage. She continues singing as she begins pacing back and forth along the front of the stage.

And I shake my head and refuse to approach you
And you nod your head and try to convince me about what you want,
“Girl, this is what I really want!”

Joyelle continues pacing back and forth, nodding and turning to face the audience at the end of each line.

And you say
“Girl, come out to me
I need your hand holding mine and that feels good
Girl, come out to me
I need your head laying on my shoulder on a long car ride.”

When the chorus begins, Joyelle starts jumping and then skips in circles around the stage. She smiles and stops just as she begins singing the next line.

You tried, “come on out and come and kiss me
Or go ahead and hug me under the palm trees
I don’t need, but girl, this is what I really want!

You tried, “come on out and come and kiss me
Or go ahead and hug me under the palm trees
I don’t need, but girl, this is what I really want!

Back to pacing back and forth across the front of the stage, Joyelle sings the next part of the song twice.

And you say
“Girl, come out to me
I need your hand holding mine and that feels good
Girl, come out to me
I need your head laying on my shoulder on a long car ride.”
“Girl, come out to me
I need your hand holding mine and that feels good
Girl, come out to me
I need your head laying on my shoulder on a long car ride.”

She starts jumping and twirling around again when the chorus returns and then moves to a completely standing position as she completes the song:

I need your head laying on my shoulder on a long car ride.
I need your head laying on my shoulder on a long car ride.
I need your head laying on my shoulder on a long car ride.

She stands perfectly still while singing the first line and then jumps up and down for the duration of the next two lines.

Alistair Killian Moriarty — Ardoki is So Awesome

Tune: Ace — Crazy on Emotion

Image
Alistair Killian Moriarty with Moriarty's Guards and Elder Dance Crew.

Alistair Killian Moriarty, current Chairman of the Central Executive Committee of the Ardokian Social Democratic Labour Party, stood on stage in his famous fedora and trench coat. Behind him stood Elder Dance Crew (EDC), incredibly old yet genetically engineered to dance; behind EEC stood his guard (Moriarty's Guard), twelve feet tall and capable of much, including dancing.

The music started. EDC and Moriarty's Guard were motionless, with their hands held on their hips. Moriarty held one hand on the side of his fedora, as if he were about to tip it; he slowly raised his other hand, eventually pointing at the audience.

Ardoki, is so awesome
Ardoki, all shall join us now
Ardoki, is just so awesome
We are just so great

Moriarty and his backup dancers then moved forwards towards the front of the stage; marching with their arms swinging my their sides.

Moriarty and EDC then began dancing, swinging their arms around horizontally in wide movements around their chest and punching upwards and downwards. Moriarty's Guard then began break-dancing and back-flipping all over the place.

Before the first verse, Moriarty performed a triple backflip and then tipped his fedora to the audience. Then he began singing; while EDC and Moriarty's Guard began dancing, swinging their arms around horizontally in wide movements around their chest and punching upwards and downwards.

Ardoki
It's such a progressive state
Ardoki
We shall liberate the world

All shall join us now
Join our progressive squad
Chairman Moriarty is just so cool

Moriarty, his guards, and EDC began dancing, swinging their arms around horizontally in wide movements around their chest and punching upwards and downwards.

Join us now
Ardoki is so awesome
All shall join us now
We're legit
Ardoki is so awesome
We are just so great

Join us now
Ardoki is so awesome
Love the Party
Yo, homies now
You can all join Ardoki
And become awesome too

Everyone then marched backwards up the stage and forwards down the stage, with Moriarty placing his hand in tipping position on his fedora once more.

Moriarty began singing; while EDC and Moriarty's Guard continued marching backwards and forwards up and down the stage.

Ardoki
Social democracy and progress
It's so cool
That we have Elder Dance Crew

All shall join us now
Join our progressive squad
Chairman Moriarty is just so cool

Moriarty, his guards, and EDC began dancing, swinging their arms around horizontally in wide movements around their chest and punching upwards and downwards.

A member of Moriarty's guard then threw Moriarty several dozen metres in the air, where he managed to perform a duodecuple back-flip. Meanwhile, EDC where cart-wheeling all over the stage.

Everyone started break-dancing and back-flipping like crazy. One member of Moriarty's Guard accidental back-flipped off the stage entirely, landing on at least a dozen audience members; while another fell through the stage floor after landing a back-flip on the back. When the music finally finished, everyone cart-wheeled off the stage.

12. Adab
"Give a Prayer"
Writer: Kinan al-Salaman
Performer: Kinan al-Salaman

Tune: Leonard Cohen - So Long, Marianne
Language: English

Background

The period between the 51st and 52nd WorldVision Song Contests was a turbulent one for Kinan al-Salaman, an unpleasant extension of the problems that he had to grapple with ever since he decided to assemble, with the help of a series of administrative mishaps and miscommunications, a band of death row convicts for his appearance on the 50th Contest. The fallout over that decision, compounded by the revelation that Emperor Tizqar III had never actually approved the plan as al-Salaman claimed and that the singer had been duped by some of the Emperor's sympathetic aides, led to a national controversy, which escalated as the convicts were executed anyway despite al-Salaman's promises to the contrary. Riots broke out across the nation as al-Salaman's supporters took to the streets in support of their man and the singer came out with an intentionally farcical performance on the 51st Contest, in protest of what he felt as the betrayal of the authorities and the music industry. Funnily enough, this performance actually achieved 18th place, Adab's highest placement on WorldVision in a while, although people - including the singer himself - was quick to point out that this did not result from any merit that could somehow be found from the performance as much as it was caused by the somewhat low number of nations participating in the contest.

The farcical performance, while aiding al-Salaman in expressing his anger and providing him with a large audience willing to bear witness to his frustrations, did nothing to improve al-Salaman's already shaky relations with the music industry and authorities of the country; before that performance there were already talks of replacing al-Salaman with a younger act for WorldVision or even imprisoning the singer. Not that al-Salaman intended to build bridges; he had decided that just as the music industry had forsaken him, so would he forsake the industry. The repercussions that could potentially come from this did not faze al-Salaman. As modest as he was, he knew that he commanded the support and adoration of millions of Adabians, who would continue to listen and buy his records as long as he kept producing those records and performing concerts. He severed his contract with his record label, with whom he had stayed since the beginning of his music career, and established his own label. Al-Salaman Records, the singer proclaimed in a defiant press conference, would be dedicated to "producing good, genuine, and original music, a beacon of light amid the stark Adabian musical landscape." Al-Salaman moved quickly, signing several newer and rising acts, eager to follow in his footsteps and share in his tremendous success.

At the same time, though, al-Salaman's legal problems were still ongoing, with no end seemingly in sight. Less than a month following the establishment of his label, al-Salaman was placed under arrest and charged with the crimes of lèse majesté and obstruction of justice, in a move that threatened to further fan the flames of anger and frustration among the Adabian public. For a moment it seemed that al-Salaman's career was destined to end in such an ignominious way. Yet, when al-Salaman had been under arrest for nine days, help came unexpectedly; Emperor Tizqar III formally pardoned al-Salaman, against the advice of most of the Privy Council, and ordered his immediate release. The highly-popular move, widely compared with U.S. President Gerald Ford's pardon of his controversial predecessor Richard Nixon, was officially done in the name of "healing the wounds of the nation." In his official statement, the Emperor further emphasized the "admirable service" that al-Salaman had rendered to his people and nation for years and praised his devotion to the cause of "rehabilitating errant members of society that we, to our regret, have long forsaken," a cause unfortunately hindered by "the mishaps of law and government, which nevertheless did not faze the good man and destroy his spirit." Thousands gathered before al-Salaman's home to greet the returning occupant. Three days later, al-Salaman released a statement from his home, proclaiming that he intended to put "the moral and national tragedy" behind and move on with his life by continuing to produce music and championing the causes that he cherished most.

By this point, Kinan al-Salaman was effectively a national hero, even if he refused to be acknowledged as such. Having transcended the boundaries of music, he rose as one of the country's foremost champions of social justice and drug and convict rehabilitation. At the same time, he earnestly prepared his return to the music business and started work on his new album to accompany his triumphant comeback, which reflected al-Salaman's desire for a return to his "more intimate, folkier side" following a successful delve into mainstream rock and pop and continued flirtations and experiments with other genres (which culminated in his 51st WorldVision contest performance). One of the songs from that album, which had quickly grown to become a personal favorite of al-Salaman and was described by the singer as an urge to his supporters and opponents to make peace with each other and themselves, now that their troubles were behind them, was picked by the singer to be the song for his next WorldVision performance.

The performance

As the audience waited eagerly for the appearance of al-Salaman, two tall, muscular "guards" appeared from the rear of the stage, each holding a golden scepter wearing a green-red-yellow beret and shining, multicolored robes, which enabled them to blend in quietly prettily amid the colors of the Spiral. The men initially walked side-by-side, only to stop suddenly right in the middle of the stage before walking sideways in different directions to the edge of the stage. There they stopped, turned, and eventually faced each other in silence across the stage.

A few seconds passed before one of the men shouted, "Hail! Hail! To the leader we say hail!" The other quickly responded, "Hail! The call has been heard. To the leader I say hail! The leader pray come and grace us with his presence." He then slammed his scepter on the floor two times as another man, wearing all-red robes and a powdered wig that reached down to his shoulders, emerged from the rear of the stage and met the two guards. "It has been heard," he was heard saying, rather quietly, to the men, after which he took out a microphone from his pocket and declared, "We, your own good people, humbly ask for the honor to attend you on this hallowed stage. To you I say hail!"

Then it was silence once again. This time it was a longer silence, about twenty seconds, as everyone onstage stood perfectly still and wordlessly. Then some on the front rows started to cry and clap as a great, silver litter came into sight, held aloft by four men and carrying a smiling, waving man clothed in white-red robes with speckles of sparkling green and wearing a golden coronet. The litter was gently laid down in the middle of the stage and all the men gathered around it, as their leader slowly rose from his seat, like a king of ancient days asking for the fealty of his men. "My men," he said in a soft voice as some technicians rushed to greet him with a green acoustic guitar, already plugged to the best amplifier available, "pray be seated." And they all sat on the stage, gathered around their leader and his litter, even the technicians. And Kinan al-Salaman started strumming and singing to loud cheers from the crowd.

Come over and gather round, all my people
And break the chains sitting between us
Come out from your houses and your shelters
To say 'good day' and rejoice

Yes, come on now and gather round, it's time we give a prayer
To friend and joy and smile and love for all time again

The men sitting around al-Salaman started to sway their heads, slowly but gracefully, letting the flow of the music take them away for while.

Well I know that the world's a fickle place
When we war against our own neighbors
I'd like to pray and learn to hold dear
Let all between us fade in our love

Yes, come on now and gather round, it's time we give a prayer
To friend and joy and smile and love for all time again

We met in the great clash of hearts
Back when the storm raged still
We all tried to reach and vanquish that day
As we grasped our way through our feelings

Yes, come on now and gather round, it's time we give a prayer
To friend and joy and smile and love for all time again

The audience seemed to be enjoying the song; some Adabians scattered throughout the venue could be seen swaying and humming softly, and one or two could even be seen slow-dancing. As al-Salaman continued to sing, some more people, dressed in pure white robes, emerged from the back of the stage with baskets of lilac and gladiolus. They walked in single file to the middle of the stage, then broke up and went in various directions, all the while throwing their flowers on and around al-Salaman, the litter, and the men sitting on the stage.

I have walked the country and saw you beside me
With love in your eyes and hearts
I'm sitting in my garden and I am wondering
Will we find peace once again?

Yes, come on now and gather round, it's time we give a prayer
To friend and joy and smile and love for all time again

And now we're standing in this place
Memories of time held back
You came when I told you I loved you still
And we loved with all we had

Yes, come on now and gather round, it's time we give a prayer
To friend and joy and smile and love for all time again

The song was now winding to a close; the people with the baskets, having thrown almost all of their flowers away, lined up sideways across the stage behind al-Salaman and the litter, standing solemnly with heads aloft and smiling.

Oh, we came and beseeched together
Even now our paths still meet again
And just when I dreamed this fine dream
Of the shining people on the hill

Yes, come on now and gather round, it's time we give a prayer
To friend and joy and smile and love for all time again

The song finally came to an end, as the people behind al-Salaman formed into a single file once again and quietly marched backstage. The sizable Adabian contingent stood up and clapped for their hero, while those around al-Salaman stood up. "Thank you, thank you," al-Salaman said as he waved to the crowd. With the performance concluded, the singer then turned his back and walked back to his litter. The litter was slowly raised and carried away by the same four people who had carried it onto the stage, as the others followed behind and hollered, "Hail to our man! Hail to peace in Adab!"

Commentary on MRX ONE with Robert Baxter and Sam Smith.

Robert: Hello and welcome to the 52nd WorldVision Song Contest. We were hoping to be coming to you from Thatcher City, but Langtree in Mercedini won the bidding process. Anyway, regular viewers will know that Sam will have his softness rating later on, where he ranks the songs along the usual scale of plum, jam, butter, bread, knife. To vote, it's 9 12 12 from a mobile or 01721 12 12 from a landline followed by the number of the country you want to vote for.

Opening Act

Sam: Scream-tastic.
Robert: Indeed. That woke me up, I didn't sleep last night, you know. Miles and Petra are our hosts. Anyway, here come all of tonight's acts to a piece of utter trash.
Sam: Yeah, the quicker this walk-through is over, the better.
Robert: Well, there we go, it's over. You can open your eyes now. Now, let's get on with it.

01 Darkmania

02 Missus X

Sam: Don't do drugs, kids. That is why. If you don't want to end up like Rick Leg, don't do drugs.
Robert: And if you do want to end up like Rick Leg, you should question your self-worth, frankly. Missus X have only finished in the top 10 once, will tonight be their lucky year?
Sam: It won't. That was a knife. And if he does literally, erm, engage in amorous activities with mothers, then more fool him.

03 Conseolta

Sam: That was a very ordinary song. I've forgotten about it already. Anyway, moving on...
Robert: Can you tell me how hard it was?
Sam: Oh, bread.
Robert: I'd thought you'd forgotten it?
Sam: Shut up.

04 Polkopia

Robert: I actively disliked that. That sounded like she was slumped in a pub doorway, singing that. That, however, will do very well.
Sam: Yeah, it's the worst case scenario for us, isn't it? Unlikable but good. It was either super-soft or soft - actually, no, on second thoughts, it's easy, I'm going for butter.

05 Krytenia

06 Todlichebujoku

Robert: I loved that.
Sam: Bi-lingual song. Didn't we try that once and end up last about 10 times?
Robert: Perhaps. But I really enjoyed this.
Sam: Anyway, it's a knife, and it's a real contender tonight.

07 Tomikosan

Robert: I think they're a debutante, no?
Sam: I think so. It was a bit basic but a good first effort.
Robert: Top 10?
Sam: Oh yes. It's a knife.

08 Kalosia

Robert: FAB-
Sam: -U-
Robert: -LOUS!
Sam: They look like they're going to do very well, do Kalosia.
Robert: Yeah, I absolutely loved that and I want it to do very well. In fact, it may stay on my iTunes.
Sam: Ooh wow!
Robert: Yep.
Sam: Can I have a look at WorldVision tracks you've got so far?
Robert: Indeed, here you go.
Sam: Well, viewers, you can't see Robert's laptop, but apart from Mister Xian ones, he's only got two or three others, including "Cumdump Slumber Nine". He really likes this.
Robert: Yep. I even liked the key change.
Sam: Yep. It's a knife.

09 Normandy and Picardy

10 Kannap

11 Ardoki

Robert: Madness.
Sam: Again, kids, don't do drunks. Or, seeing as it was a knife, don't stab yourself.

12 Adab

Robert: I didn't think much of that Jesus rubbish at the beginning.
Sam: It needed someone doing a Viennese Waltz on the stage, I'm afraid. A little bland, I thought. Not quite a plum, but a jam.

Viktor: "Good evening world and all those who inhabit it! You're watching the Polkopian commentary of the Worldvision Song Contest, brought to you by the PNB. My name is Viktor Khassanov, and I'm here today with the lovely Anna Petravona."

Anna: "Yes sir, we're back again after a brief absence from the previous contest. Congratulations to Susanne Felludan from Normandy and Picardy for winning the last contest, but now it's a whole new contest, with new songs, performers, and countries."

Viktor: "We're here in Langtree, Mercedini. It's the first time I've been here, and it's quite nice, I have to say. I'm probably coming back here for a vacation, if time allows, but that's beside the point. The opening act is here, and they're called... actually I don't know what they're called. But they're here to welcome us to Mercedini anyway. Here they are!"

Image _00. Opening Act_ Image
Welcome to Mercedini

Viktor: "Well that was damn annoying. I know I should be lenient when discussing the opening act, but wow, that was rough."

Anna: "The vocals were good, I suppose, but overall, it wasn't much. The opening act was supposed to get everybody ready for the contest, but I was just ready for the song to be over."

Viktor: "If everyone in Mercedini acted like these mashi did, there would be no chance in hell that I'd return. But thankfully, that's not the case. Now, on to the real songs. It's tradition that the first few songs will be absolute garbage, so we'll see if that trend continues. Up first, we have Darkmania."

Vera Slapiski - Däncer

Viktor: "...So yeah, it was bad, but at least nobody died, right?"

Anna: "Yeah, there's that. I think it was supposed to be bad. Like, I think this Vera character is supposed to be a parody thing."

Viktor: "Well that's pretty obvious, yeah, but still, the Darkmanians could have done us all a favor and sent in a decent song. I don't know what the broadcaster was thinking by sending this clown, but I don't approve."

Anna: "Lighten up a little. It's pretty bad, but it's fun! And that's what this entire contest is about. Fun! We're moving on though. Up next we have the entry from Missus X. This... This should be interesting."

Rick Leg - I Love To Dance

Viktor: "I have an idea. I'm going to devise a drinking game based off of Worldvision. The first one - Every time Missus X sends something awful, take a shot."

Anna: "I know the last one was bad, but this one... I can't really defend this one, unfortunately. This Rick Leg guy needs to be like a stop sign and stop."

Viktor: "That was probably the second worst thing I've ever heard since the start of this contest. Be thankful that this act takes the cake, otherwise you and I would have some trouble."

Anna: "Well I think both of us are in agreement here that this song was truly awful. Next up, it's Cosneolta. Hopefully they can send something not awful."

Image _03. Cosneolta_ Image
Convikt ft. Rachel Nollov - Flying Above

Viktor: "Oh hey, look! This one isn't awful. This one is actually pretty good. This girl's voice is absolutely stunning, and the staging matches the song pretty well. I certainly wouldn't mind seeing this one do well."

Anna: "Do you think this one could win it all?"

Viktor: "It far too early to tell. We haven't even heard a fraction of the songs that're to be sung today. But even if every nation from here on out sends something great, I could see this one at least breaking into the top ten."

Anna: "Well there you have it. I'd love to see this do well, but you never know. But anywho, that's that. Next, we have Polkopia!"

Image _04. Polkopia_ Image
Silvija Polzin - Last Kiss

Viktor: "It's certainly an emotional performance isn't it? A bit weird too, but overall, I liked it."

Anna: "Yeah I liked it. I liked it a lot in the Landa vy Polkopiya too, but that's another story for another time. Here it's no different. Silvija killed it out there!"

Viktor: "The song was good, yes, but I have to say, I was fairly impressed by the staging. It might just me be, but I think the staging might really help this entry score well."

Anna: "Let's hope. Fingers crossed for you, Silvija! Next up, Krytenia!"

Violet Zuider - Step Back In Time

Image _06. Tödlichebujoku_ Image
Momoko Krebs - Piece By Piece

Viktor: "Oh hey, I like this one quite a bit too! It's quite catchy and this girl, whom I swear I've seen before, works that stage!"

Anna: "According to this, my little cheat sheet in front of me, this girl is the twin sister of Anja Krebs, who won the World Hit Festival. That might be why she looks a bit familiar. Back to the song though, yeah, it's very good. Probably my favorite Tödlichebujoki song to date, if we're to be completely honest."

Viktor: "If we were to be completely honest, you'd admit to the viewers out there that you spent about thirty minutes yesterday rehearsing the word "Tödlichebujoku" over and over again."

Anna: "I just wanted to make sure I didn't butcher the name. I'm sure it took you a long time to pronounce that monstrosity of a name as well."

Viktor: "Indeed. It's a good song though. But we're moving on to the next song, which comes from Tomikosan."

Image _07. Tomikosan_ Image
C.R.A.F.T - Rolling for You

Anna: "I wasn't a huge fan of the song itself, but I also found it pretty hard to keep myself from clapping along to the beat. After a few listens, it might grow on me, but after hearing it once, I can't say I'm too keen on this one."

Viktor: "What does 'Rolling For You' even mean? Like, who even uses that line outside of this song?"

Anna: "Maybe he's playing a game of Yahtzee and he's trying to get a Yahtzee, see, and the 'you' could refer to the Yahtzee?"

Viktor: "I think you're trying too hard to make that work there. Good effort though. The song, I'm a bit iffy on. It'll most likely be forgotten after 3 or 4 more entries are finished with, but it isn't bad. Not bad at all."

Anna: "Alrighty. We're done with Tomikosan. Next up - Kalosia!"

Image _08. Kalosia_ Image
EVE - Living

Anna: "So, you know how I said that the last song made me clap with the beat?"

Viktor: "Yeah?"

Anna: "This one made me do the same. Even better, because I actually really liked the song. These girls nailed it! Their vocals, choreography, chemistry... all of it was there! Just a great entry in my opinion."

Viktor: "I don't know, I like the song, but I'm not confident it'll do well. We see these all-girl groups almost every Worldvision, and a they usually don't get the votes that we'd expect. Personally, I found this a bit average for me. The vocals were good, but the performance itself left me wanting a bit more."

Anna: "Mhm. Well, if you say so. Personally, I'd love to see this get a top 5 place! These girls deserve it! On to our next song though, which comes from Normandy and Picardy! Remember, these guys won it last edition. Let's see what they can give us now!"

Image _09. Normandy and Picardy_ Image
Florence - Un Age D'Amour

Viktor: "This is our first real ballad of the night I believe. Overall, I found it rather slow, but incredibly beautiful. Of course, I'm always a fan of songs in languages other than English, and the French language sounds amazing here. I love it!"

Anna: "It's nice, but I'll agree with you on the slow part. I like ballads, but this one put me to sleep. I wanted to like this one, I really did, but I just couldn't."

Viktor: "Oh hush. It's amazing! The piano, the staging... all of it worked so well together! I understand the fact that it's slow, yes, and I get that it might not hold appeal to some people, but I would've thought you'd see the beauty in this one."

Anna: "It's not my least favorite of the night, I promise you that, but it's nowhere near the caliber that we've seen from other countries tonight. It's average for me."

Viktor: "I'm not fighting you on this one. I'm just moving on. Next up, we have Kannap, as in, I Kannap the fact that you have no musical taste."

Purple: Kyraji Samaras
Orange: Charlie Backlund

What is up, everyone? Welcome to our first ever commentary of WorldVision 52, held in Langtree, Mercedini! My name is Kyraji Samaras, your host of the show! Here with me is our man, Charlie Backlund!
Thank you, Ky! And for those of you watching, good evening.
Tonight is a very special day for us Citizens of Tomikosan. Our band has enter the singing competition and it felt like they received good responses from people watching live!
I agree! I think our country gets a good start in WorldVision 52 so that might be great. But this isn't the case. What we are about to talk about are the reactions for the other nations whom the singers participated for the pride of their own soil.
That's right, Charlie! It's time to reveal our thoughts of other artists from their respective nations!
Before we get there, don't forget the ratings. 1 to 10 is our basic bunch, right?
Well said, mate. Enough jibber jabber, let's get into the world of WorldVision!

Opening Act:

I gotta tell you something. This is pretty amazing! I like the fact that they used normal, everyday people to act and sing in front of a thousand crowds watching them! Maybe Tomikosanese people like that type of performance.
Surely, the lyrics and the tune of the song feels catchy that it gets stuck in your head.
If we have hosted the competition, this is what we should do, eh?
Yes! That is what we do if we did that. Now, let's move on to our first nation of this exciting event!

13 | Estogium - "Akron de Harchet" - Israael Kashtkar

Postby Estogium » Fri Nov 25, 2016 12:31 pm

Israael Kashtkar is a 24 year old Estogian man who is known as one of the biggest artists in the Brityunikosphere which are the places which speak Old Britonish Latin, or Rwhitten, in Estogium, Aloquirbe, Northern Britonisea (mainly Nightom), parts of Aurevbush and far-east Arioslavia, near the Estogium-Arioslavian sea. Israael Kashtkar's signed up with the label Nyx Music, who is run by Mehkl Maddox Ajax (Represent Britonisea in the World Hit Festival, WHF27, 9th) who is excited to see how the songs is organised on stage. "He is a confident performer, and I think that he could do very well," said Mehkl Maddox Ajax in the Big Reveal: Estogium, a show where the Estogian WorldVision and World Hit Festival songs are announced.

Israael Kashtkar soon after the show traveled to Mercedini, as it beat two other competitors, Mister X and Gurori. He didn't have much time to look at all of the sites of the wonderful host city as he was busy in studios, booked by the BVC Music Department in Langtree where he started to learn the choreography for his performance. "It is quite difficult going to another country, Mercedini, and going for the first time." Israael Kashtkar said when he had finished performing his song.

According to ESTOGOSS.esto, they had said that the song from Israael Kashtkar was changed - and could have possibly changed the artist. However, this was proven false.

A dark figure is on the stage. The lights in the arena flash on and off, almost similar to that of a lightning storm. Then, as the dark figure becomes bigger on the camera, he turns his head to the side - and as he turns his head to the side, the camera slowly pans around to a symbol of the cross which is stood there on the stage. It looks as if it was made of gravel, it was dirty and ugly - but it stood alone in the harsh lighting. Suddenly, you then heard men singing in plagal harmony from each other. No one could hear exactly what they were singing about - it was so quiet - it was almost muffling. You could hear the church bells getting louder, and louder, and louder - until you heard a big "dong." At which point, the camera cuts straight to the figure who in front of the camera, and behind him is the cross plastered over the screens. He wore a black cloak, of which he lifted over his head, and looked from the floor of the stage to the camera - which was right in front of him. His contact lenses were grey, and those were the only thing that you could see - apart from obvious facial features like his jaw, neck and head and shoulder. He then starts singing, looking deep in to the camera.

A dark place burnt to ashes after the heat.
The wind then blows them away, overseas.
With each ash, a soul it kept of the victims.
The place, abandoned. Not a trace of the history, no history.

After the repetition of the word, "History," a white flashed four times and a green mist rose from the floor of the stage. Here, the camera moved outwards from the man and turned around to look at the audience before the next part of the song started and Israael moved from his previous position.

They will be coming for you.
If they don't break down your equilibrium
The evil inside you, will eat its way out.
They will be haunting you.
I really hope that you are ready,
Consequences are heading for you.

Israael Kashtkar then started walking towards the audience, and as he did this, the camera also moved backwards in to the audience, before going upwards in to the ceiling of the area. The green mist was the only thing which covered the floor, and so, the floor were turned off - black. The dancers came back on stage and started circling around him. He looked scared. He looked at the dancers with mystery as they walked around him - as the quickened the pace. There was a spotlight on Israael as well as the multiple lights around him swirling around him.

Fate Loves The Fearlessness
Fate is no accident.
Akron de Harchet?
Is it life or death?

During the chorus above, dancers surrounded Israael and started acting like creatures coming back from the dead. With the camera swaying from side to side, from left to right. The camera looked elsewhere, with the cross there, it quickly turned to face somewhere else before coming back to the stage - and the cross was gone.

I know you're jealous,
You're overzealous for me, I see.
But deep down inside of you,
You know our bond is acidic.
I know the easy way out is to extract yourself away from it,
But no, setting a blaze, wasn't the right choice, was it?
In flames and mist?

The green mist started to disappear. Israael Kashtkar turned his back away from the audience as the mobile camera sped around him. There was the lone spotlight following at him before a red light appeared, and the rest of the stage turned pink. Something started to lower from the ceiling of the arena, and the audience started to list their heads to catch an early glimpse of what this could be.

Toxicity - arise from the graves.
Can you hear the trumpet?
They're calling out your name, they're calling for me.

Image
Reenactment of the staging during rehearsals

Fate Loves The Fearlessness
Fate is no accident.
Akron de Harchet?
Is it life or death?

The camera started flittering again as all the dancers surrounded the man on the stage and started spazzing around him. The staging was blinding, with grey, blue and orange light flashing all over the screen. Then, a spotlight focused on a male standing in front of the cross with a holy Bible in his hands.

"Mai uiyr phantomené arivexserelle
Πphlamabelles antix litetierais
Create iñe destinee litene, ma uiyr fate no'osov
Œ bairie zarchet llorgé! beçause akren de harchet
Ovhe reslesselarest way diwn"
May your demons arise,
And your old flames light,
Make your destiny bright
As your fate isn't.
And be afraid! You should.
Because arson of the heart is the easiest way under.)

The audience started cheering after the song finished with Israael bowing in gratitude. "Thank you everyone, thanks very much!"

Georgios Kenepe Welcome to WorldVision once again!
Luce Varknac You're with Georgios and Luce at WV52. We will be supplying your commentary once again!
G Tonight is the night when Mitoland will once again enter WorldVision and hopefully successfully this time.
L Let's forget about WV44 and 45, shall we?
G Definitely.
L Well... I've heard that there was a bit of trouble organising this year, but we've got something sorted.
G We might nit take the win this time but watch out in 53... in fact still don't count us out in 52, either!
L Anyway, coming up...

- The Mercidinian opening act where we will watch how this great contest will begin and be themed on.
- The all-important first entry.
- Mitoland's entry is in slot 14 so stay tuned!

G It looks like WorldVision 52 is not one to miss. Then again, we did say that when 44 started...

L Now the opening act is starting though. What will it be like?

G That went a but wrong, if you ask me.

L Hopefully the rest of the contest will go better. That sucked.

G Yeah. Just a reminder for anyone trying to vote now, the songs have not started and do not vote till they have ended.

L Now, the first song! I'm so excited! Darkmania takes the forgotten slot of number one, so they have to give us a song to remember.

1 - Darkmania

G Um...

L If you're going to sing in English, sing it correctly and don't mix another language in. Otherwise, sing in your own language.

G That was just terrible and stupid. Annoying. That's set a new low, even after WV44.

L Mind you, it was still kind of catchy and fun. In some ways, I liked it. In others, I hated it.

G I guess... but due to its plain stupidity and going to far, it gets a 4 from us.

15. ELECTRUM

Song: "For a Better World"
Artist: Evita
Tune: Walking on a Dream by Empire of the Sun

Introduction
Network ENN once again held their internal selections. For Network ENN, the band Evita was the clearest choice. Evita have always sent out top-twenty songs on the Electrum charts so it was a no brainer that such a popular Electrumite band would be given a go at WorldVision. Network ENN likes to mix things up every year, and after sending someone that no one had ever heard of last edition, it was decided that Evita would be a good contrast. Evita are an electronic dance duo (comprising of Steven and Daniel) and are known for their bizarre costumes. They have a unique look that makes them look like aliens more than anything!

The song they wrote is about seeking a better world in times of division and disharmony. It's about remembering the good times, and looking forward until they come back again.

The Performer
Image
Steven left, Daniel right

The Song

Steven and Daniel walk onto the stage and look down. Daniel is on an elevated platform on his drums and computer set whilst Steven, the vocalist is down below with a microphone. After a few seconds of anticipation, the song starts...

For a better world
We restart now
The world keeps spinning
That is my vow

Searching for the better times, reminisce reminisce
Tomorrow is always a good time to reminisce
On and on and on about passing there and back again
I will believe in a new world, the hope will set us free

Can you believe
That the world’s being divided?
Is it the case
That the world’s being divided?

All of a sudden, projections of light from up top stream to the bottom, and they seem to create a large fissure between the two - with Daniel on the platform, and Steven moving forwards towards the crowd. It seems that the stage is physically splitting in two, but it really isn't. One side of the stage turns blue (Steven's side) whilst the other side turns orange.

1:17
We are the future
Snap us out of this stupor
We'll dance like no tomorrow
Living on borrowed time where at night we drown our sorrows

Searching for the better times, reminisce reminisce
Tomorrow is always a good time to reminisce
On and on and on about passing there and back again
I will believe in a new world the truth will set us free

Can you believe
That the world’s being divided?
Is it the case
That the world’s being divided?

Can you believe
That the world’s being divided?
Is it the case
That the world’s being divided?

This is when the song enters its trance-like stance. The two performers pick up glowsticks and make pictures in the air. One of the long exposure cameras captures the light, showing the beautiful pattens the glow-sticks are making.

2:19
Hold my hand and come with me
Hold my hand and come with me

Snapping out of the trance, more shards of light come from the ceiling, but this time the fissure is being repaired as they get 'closer' together. Steven outstretches his arms towards Daniel and Daniel leaps down from the platform. Luckily the music didn't change.

2:33
You know, it’s us versus them
And it’s a war we won’t win
So come on, we’ll weather the storm
All we got is the hope that a better world will come

Can you believe
That the world’s being divided?
Is it the case
That the world’s being divided?

Both of them give a quick bow before leaving.

M’folo Asantè - My Time
Tune: Kwabs - Walk

Image

After a very tight national final, M'folo Asante was chosen to be the representative of Mercedini for the 52nd WorldVision Song Contest, little did he know that he didn't have to travel far to sing for his country. That's right, following Rachel Nollov's stunning 9th place finish in Kyvivre last time around, Mercedini are now on hosting duties after the multiverse chose Langtree to be the host of WorldVision 52.

In his first interview after winning SongSearch, M'folo said "It's a great honour to sing for my nation and an even better privilege to sing for home nation as well. Hopefully we can put on a great show for the fans and the rest of the multiverse. If we can make other nations sit up and listen and consider Mercedini a musical force, then I would have done my job."

M'folo's song reflects how all eyes will be on him and Mercedini as he is the nations first home performer ever. So it would be relevant for him and his nation to take their chance and place their names in the history books. Will Mercedini improve on their Top-10 performance last time round? We shall see...

The song starts off with M'folo's blurry head in the centre of the screen with a microphone on it's stand in front of him. The camera focuses in time for his head to be in view for when he starts to sing. He focuses intently on the camera as he sings the first part of the chorus to start the song.

Gonna move up, 'cause this chance is mine
Gonna pick my head up for the finish line
I gotta get up just to make this climb
Better bow down 'cause this is my time

The camera angle then changes to a wide shot of the stage. M'folo is wearing a black suit with a white shirt and no tie. The stage is black save for the intermittent flashes in time with the drum beat of the song. On-stage, M'folo is accompanied by two male backing singers, a women playing a cello, a man on a grand piano and a man playing drums. M'folo walks from the back of the stage to the front of the stage taking each step in time with the beat of the song.

Seconds are out, up for the fight
All my haters, fade into the night
When I light up, I'll be shining my light
And my heart and soul are telling me this is right

The camera then makes a number of sweeping shots across the stage varying from close-ups to wide sweeping shots encapsulating the entire audience in the foreground. M'folo sings into the Mercedinian audience as they wave their flags in time to the music. The dark stage starts to get brighter and brighter as the verse approaches the chorus.

And I'm not the guy I want to be, want to be
Sometimes I feel like it's my destiny, destiny
To be standing right here
I'm standing out in the open, finally making my dreams come true
That's why I gotta...

The stage flashes white and beams of light circle the stage and the audience, occasionally flashing into the camera as it takes in the entirety of the stage. The backing singers swing their arms in time with the music while the people on instruments play them in tandem with each other. For the second part of the chorus, the camera move up onto the stage and circles M'folo taking in the stage and the audience, who are waving the lights on their phones which you can clearly see behind him.

Gonna move up, 'cause this chance is mine
Gonna pick my head up for the finish line
I gotta get up just to make this climb
Better bow down 'cause this is my time

Turn your head, look into my eyes
Do you think I'm gonna make it out alive?
And if you think 'No', you're in for a surprise
You better bow down 'cause this is my time

The lights recede back into the stage to start the first verse. M'folo walks along the front of the stage with the camera beneath him following him along the stage. The lights flash along the stage in time with the drum beat once again. When the third line of the verse come in, the lights strobe rapidly and then stop to focus on the singer, before returning back to normal and continuing the song.

I gotta be, be my own man
No need for, for a second plan
When you think I've stopped, I'm gonna stand strong
Until the dust clears and I'm standing on my own

The two male backing dancers move away from their microphone stands and walk to M'folo to form a triangle formation and perform a polished yet minimal dance routine at the front of the stage, which gets a small cheer from the home crowd. For the final couple of lines, M'folo points to the sky and looks up to sing before heading to the chorus.

'cause I'll conquer them all on my own
Get my mind into the zone
It won't be long 'til I'm resting here on my golden throne
My competition is down
So I'm gonna finish 'em off

More panning shots across the stage and the rest of the stadium ensue as the stage flashes off and on in time with the music. Half of the lights converge onto M'folo in the centre of the stage while the rest expand outwards into the audience. M'folo walks to the across the catwalk to the island and is joined by the backing singers behind him to set themselves up for the next part of the song.

M'folo stands in the middle of the island while the two backing singers accompany him with flashing white lights radiating on him and his backing singers. Mercedinians are waving their flags and the lights on their mobile phones from side to side. In the second half of the bridge, he walks back to the main portion of the stage and everyone else assumes their normal positions.

Can't deny that I'm at the top
There's no way, There's no way, I'll ever stop
No way I’m gonna let my guard drop,
No, no, there's no way, there's no way!

Can't deny that I'm at the top
There's no way, There's no way, I'll ever stop (I will not give up, my friend!)
No way I’m gonna let my guard drop, (No way)
No, no, there's no way, there's no way! (No, no)

The lights return for another chorus but this time he sings into the audience while the camera focuses on his face. The camera then focuses on each of the individual musicians playing their instruments. At the end of the chorus, the camera zooms out to the back of the stage to show the audience and the distant stage emitting it's light.

Gonna move up, 'cause this chance is mine
Gonna pick my head up for the finish line
I gotta get up just to make this climb
Better bow down 'cause this is my time (better bow down, this is my time!)

Turn your head, look into my eyes (into my eyes!)
Do you think I'm gonna make it out alive? (do you think I'm gonna?!)
And if you think 'No', you're in for a surprise
You better bow down 'cause this is my time

The camera moves back onto the stage one more time and circles M'folo for the end of the song, he looks into the camera every time it is in front of him and sings into the audience when it isn't. He finishes the song by bending down on one knee and looking down to the floor. A single spotlight is placed upon his head, the crowd erupts when M'folo Asante finishes the song.

Yeah, this is my time
Yeah, this is my time
Yeah, come on!
This is my...
Yeah yeah oh, no, no, no, no. Oh, come on!

"Grazij Mercedini!! Thank You Everyone, I love you so much!!" M'folo waves to the crowd before walking off the stage to make way for the next act. The camera focuses on some crazy Mercedinian fans before transitionint to the postcard for the Electrum Diplomatic Offices

OOC: I care very much about this contest, despite what these lyrics might say :P

17. ELECTRUM DIPLOMATIC OFFICES

Song: "Break the fourth wall"
Artist: Gertrude Pullman
Tune: ペンパイナッポーアッポーペン「ロング」バージョン by ピコ太郎

Introduction
Gertrude Pullman, still on those drugs that she was on during WorldVision 50, is back at it again with a song called "Break the fourth wall". Despite the fact and insistence by literally everyone about her, this old hag seems to think that all of her actions are caused by someone else, and that the actions of everyone else are caused by someone else as well! This someone else exists in a world where her and everyones actions can be simulated on what is called a 'website'. What a ridiculous story for someone to be spouting.

The Performer
It's Wendy Oldbag from the Ace Attorney series, and I've used this character for 14 editions already so you should know what she looks like by now! If not, check out the Electrum's WV page (linked on Electrum's signature and go through previous EDO entries to see what she looks like or google her)

The Song

Gertrude comes in a large oversized leopard print and very large, thick-rimmed glasses. She dances in a similar way to a person linked in the video.

Break the fourth wall!

Gertrude pulls out a large sledge hammer and throws it at a brick wall which was erected on the stage. Some of the bricks fly into the audience, and she manages to hurt a few people in the process. This is par what usually happens in her songs.

We are being used, we're using tropes
Uh! Using tropes!
This is a song, This is a fiction
Uh! Fictional song!
Using tropes, fictional song
Uh! This song is a fiction

A massive robotic, nude mannequin army comes on stage and they all imitate Gertrude Pullman's moves. She dances in a very stick manner, because after all, she is arthritic. One of the nude mannequin malfunctions and explodes, setting the others on fire. As a result, some of them have half their face melted off while still dancing. It's all very weird, but again, this is par the course.

This song is a fiction
(Truth Time!)
Uh! We're-used-as-as-as-puppets-puppets!
We're-used-as-as-as-puppets-now!
We're-used-as-as-as-puppets-puppets!
And we-don't even-don't even-know it-it!
Uh-uh-fruity-fruit-fruit-fruity-fruity!
Uh-uh-why don't you-gimme-gimme-some-points!
Guh-guh-gimme points-fruity-fruity-fruity-fruity!
Now-now-now-listen to-me!

All of a sudden, mixed tropical and spiky fruits such as the pineapple, the durian and of course the fabled spiky gooseberry all throughout the audience, maiming some of them, because the fruits are heavy and sharp.

1:36
I don't care, I don't care
Uh! Don't care!
You know about this, You're in song contest
Uh! About this song contest!
Don't care, About this contest!
Uh! Don't care about song contest!

The robotic mannequins go rogue as they no longer ignore Gertude's dance moves. They instead jump off stage into the audience and run around, creating general disruption.

2:09
This song is a fiction!

Gertrude is hurried off stage.
