A beginner's guide...

Welcome to the WorldVision Song Contest, based on the Eurovision Song Contest, aiming to provide and unite nations from different parts of the World through music. The WorldVision Song contest is an outlet to showcase the popular or native music of your nation. As with every contest, there are a few simple rules and regulations that you'll need to follow.

 1. To start, you must sign-up for the contest. Do so by using the form below and posting that you sign up in this thread. Make sure you sign up before the cutoff date. You will not be penalised if you sign up and don’t post a song. These songs will be submitted in the IC thread after a host vote.
 2. At the end of the host bidding period, all nations which have signed up at that point may vote for the nation that will host the contest. Instructions will be posted by this account, and all host votes should be telegrammed to this account as well. The winning bidding nation will then create the IC thread.
 3. The contest is based upon the Eurovision Song Contest: nations will "perform" their song. No real-life song can be entered into the WorldVision Song Contest; of course, the melody can be used (usually linked via YouTube). At least 80% of the song’s lyrics must be original, and translations are not allowed. Nations are free to choose to host a national final or internally select their representative. English is not compulsory.
 4. Once the IC thread has been posted whenever the winning bidding nation chooses, nations will submit songs before the deadline. After the deadline nations may not edit or alter their song in any way, unless otherwise instructed by the committee. Also, after the deadline and any interval act if appropriate (wait for the signal from the host nation), nations vote, ranking their top ten songs in the following format: 12-10-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 in the IC thread. Nations may not vote for themselves. All nations that post a song in the IC thread must vote.

If you don't know how to sign up, use this form below; this should help. Not all of these fields have to be filled in, but it certainly helps.

Code: Select all
Nation Name: Your nation's name goes here.
Official Broadcaster: Your official broadcaster for WV goes here.
Song Title: The IC Song title goes here.
Artist(s) Name(s): The name of your act goes here.

Tune: The real life tune you're basing your song on goes here.

 1. A debutante nation cannot bid to host the WorldVision Song Contest. A nation must have entered and completed one Contest in order to qualify to host a Song Contest. Furthermore, a nation that has put a host bid CANNOT vote for their own bid. This ensures a democratic, and fair result.
 2. At least 80% of the song’s lyrics must be original, and translations of real life songs will result in disqualification. If you suspect another entry to be either wholly or mostly plagiarised, please telegram the WorldVision Committee with your concerns. The committee will then review the entry before making a judgement. If your entry is disqualified for whatever reason, you will not be reinstated even if you edit your entry.
 3. All nations that post a song in the IC thread must vote. Failure to do so will result in a one-contest ban.
 4. Each nation may enter ONE puppet nation (that is another nation controlled by the same player); the master nation must confirm their puppet on the thread. Should a nation is found to be in breach of the one-puppet nation rule, sanctions and a disqualification will be put in place.
 5. If a nation enters a puppet nation, the maximum amount of points that can be awarded to each nation is up to five points thus ensuring a fair and more equal chance for all nations to succeed within the Contest. If a nation is found to have awarded a higher amount of points, the committee will first allow said nation to alter their votes. If said nation fails to adhere to Committee reminders, the votes will be rendered void and will result in disqualification. A user controlling a master and puppet nation together can only award a third nation a total of 18 points.
 6. Under no circumstances will bullying, offensive and/or intimidating language or provocations of any form be accepted within the Contest, within both IC and OOC threads. WorldVision promotes peaceful and friendly environment. Failure to comply will result in disqualification. If at any point, you feel you are a victim, or feel someone has been victimised by another nation, contact the Committee, or a member of the Committee immediately. The Committee will ensure anonymity/confidentiality at all times.
 7. Only the current host of a Contest or the WorldVision Committee can reveal results during the voting process. Conspiring with fellow users to rig any of the votes is illegal and will result in sanctions.
 8. Users may "reserve" slots in the running order of the contest, but if one's entry is not completed having made a reservation by the deadline, the perpetrator will receive a one-contest ban. An entry is accepted if it has a complete set of lyrics, regardless of whether stage directions have been finalised or not.
 9. Users may not edit their entries or votes after the deadlines for any reason, including spelling or grammatical errors, unless otherwise instructed to by the Committee.

So basically, be original, try to be fair, don't be a jerk, and have fun. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to TG the Committee- it helps if you add the Committee's individual member names (Electrum, Ethane, Mercedini, Mister X, and Normandy and Picardy) in the "To:" box along with "WorldVision Committee" for a faster response.

Even if you've missed the deadline or aren't participating, feel free to discuss the contest in this thread or post commentary in the IC. You'll find that people greatly appreciate some good commentary.

With all that said, welcome to WorldVision!

VERA SLAPISKI HAS BEEN CHOOSEN TO SING FOR DARKMANIA!

Image

In a controversial press-confrerance, DaTV has choosen the drag-queen Vera Slapiski, who is only known in the WSC as the person who casted the Darkmanian vote in WSC 49 and 50. The title is to be revealed later, but is set to this tone.

BVC has released a statement about the nation leaving the WorldVision Song Contest, a shocking move for a nation which debuted 21 editions ago.

Image
Official Broadcaster of The WorldVision Song Contest // Organisers of the 41st and 51st WorldVision Song Contest

It has been announced today that after a six hour conference with WorldVision representatives for Britonisea, BVC Representatives and representatives from around the region including BVC International which services in many of the 40 nations, Britonisea will not return to the WorldVision Song Contest based on the popularity of the contest within Britonisea and outside of Britonish borders. The decision has come with discontent with some members of the public, and some previous ABEN participants, however, BVC has ensured that this is the correct decision to make, and it could also increase home-grown talent.

Fabbio McAcupline, the head of delegation for Britonisea in WorldVision, and newly elected Director of Britonish Entertainment for BVC, had spoken in front of a crowd earlier today as he left one of the BVC Headquarters, in Junterapten. "We have to face facts, the regional population which watches the WorldVision Song Contest is on a decrease and it's time to bring on something a bit more thrilling and exciting. I will be going back in to the headquarters tomorrow to plan a great new show which features Britonish people." He then went on to speak about the Mehlodifestivalhen, "Yeah, Mehlodhi will still broadcast by the BVC, and the winner will get a chance to represent Britonisea in the World Hit Festival; which is going quite strong in terms of viewership percentages in Britonisea and Estogium."

Mr McAcupline then went on to speak about the financial side of the WorldVision, comparing it to that of the World Hit Festival. When we hosted the 51st WorldVision, our hope was to spend less money than what we did spend on the 41st WorldVision Song Contest. The 51st WorldVision totaled at £17 million britoes, which is equivalent to around £28 million NSD, which is around £4 million NSD off our total from the last time we hosted. From the £28 million NSD we used to host the WorldVision Song Contest - which includes the arena, stage, printing, hotels etc - it is expected that only £21 million NSD was given back to us through tourism and other sources. Moreover, £28 million NSD was only spent because we expected a larger amount of nations to participate in the contest, which didn't come true. 19 nations participated in total, the lowest in over 30 editions. Compared to the 27th World Hit Festival and it's a different story. If one watches the 27th World Hit Festival, they would have noticed better graphics, a better stage, and a more homely contest. This only costed BVC £8 million NSD, which is even less in britoes. From this, 14 nations - if I remember correctly - participated, which is quite successful for a World Hit." We received £17 million back from tourism etc. Luckily, the government had refunded BVC money that we had lost of the WV from the profit from the WHF."

"But finally," he continued, "The World Hit is fun! New nations participate, new faces, great songs, and hosting it is a blast! We hope to host another World Hit before World Hit 32. I think the WorldVision needs a bit of inspiration!"

There has been no talk of the return of Britonisea in upcoming editions.

Britonisea hosted one of the smallest WorldVision Song Contests in modern (WV10-) history, and it was won by Normandy and Picardy with 87 points. Britonisea came 2nd, making WorldVision 51 their 3rd most successful WorldVision in terms of placing.

After withdrawing for the 51st Worldvision Song Contest following internal conflict facing the Polkopian government, questions over whether the PNB would participate in the next Worldvision Song Contest arose, with many expressing doubt that Polkopia's broadcaster would actually participate. Last edition, Silvija Polzin won the Landa vy Polkopiya and thus, winning the right to represent her nation in the Worldvision Song Contest, but sadly, she was unable to do so.

Because of the financial crisis currently hitting the Allied States of Polkopia, funding for the Polkopian National Broadcaster has been immensely cut. Therefore the Allied States hereby suspends the broadcasting of the Landa vy Polkopiya. This is to ensure that the PNB will still be able to broadcast events such as the World Cup, Worldvision, the World Hit Festival, and other major international events. The money that the PNB will save by doing this will ensure Polkopia's participation in the upcoming Worldvision Song Contest, and Polkopia will be represented by Silvija Polzin, who won the last Landa vy Polkopiya with her song, Last Kiss, which will be her official entry for the 42nd Worldvision Song Contest.

I'm back. RL is getting better, recovery is happening, and I believe I'll have enough time for a song and commentary.

Back in action!

Momoko Krebs is in with a yet-to-be-announced song. With the few details released pointing to a passionate, action-packed performance, WorldVision fans are wondering if Momoko will breathe vigor back into WorldVision, after the combination of a relatively intimate WV51 and Tödlichebujoku's rather introspective WV50 entry.

Tune: Ани Лорак - Уходи по-английски

Edit: Also congrats Normandy! I really enjoyed your entry and song (probably would have gotten a top 3 vote from me as well), though it seems you're starting to win everything these days :P

Worldvision Song Contest 52 Bid | KAKUJI, GURORI

Postby Gurori » Tue Oct 25, 2016 3:59 pm

One of Kakuji's streets at night, bustling as always.

Gurori had made a bid to host the 51st WorldVision Song Contest in Kakuji but lost to Kyvivre, Britonisea. While Satoshi Yasuda represented us in Kyvivre, we decided that we'd bid to host the 52nd contest and thus the bid for Kakuji was reborn. This will be the 3rd time that Gurori has participated in WorldVision and we want to make this one a special one for us. We are yet to see our nation rank in the top 10 but we're always hopeful!

Last time we didn't get to show you our beautiful city, but this time we believe we can. #Kakuji52

Image
Image

The contest will take place in Kishimi Imperial Arena, which can hold up to 70,000 people! There will be an opening act which aims to showcase some of Gurori's culture, the entries from participating nations and of course the voting period. The opening act will be started off by Emperor Kakashi Akiyama II.
Image

Hosting the event will be Emperor Kakashi Akiyama II and Satoshi Yasuda, who participated in the previous edition and managed to snag us 14th place with an astounding 38 points.

The stage itself as pictured above is vibrant and bright in terms of colour and lighting, there will be dedicated booths for commentary. Bands and orchestras may position themselves where they see fit.

Postcards will be following an incredibly simple format, it will feature a countryball of a participant with their name and entry number beneath. That is just about all there is to tell. The example we bring you is of Normandy & Picardy, the winner of the previous edition.

"Welcome to Izmepisma. 9 songs have been chosen out of a field of hundreds waiting for their shot at Izmedu's WorldVision baton, but only one song can remain standing."

With the WorldVision 51 entry acting as Izmepisma's pilot into the WorldVision fold, Ziva Lipovac's 3rd place finish stands as the country's first podium result since NemaMinorca & Konstanca Vrebac earned 2nd place in WorldVision 44. The immediate success around Ziva Lipovac's entry brought increased attention to the Izmepisma format, with many fans and critics noting alike the near-instant success of the new format. RTI naturally renewed Izmepisma in a heartbeat as it edges closer to becoming Izmedu's permanent mechanism for selecting WorldVision entries. Of course, as with every mechanism, it must face a second test.

Over 1000 songs have been submitted to RTI once again that were fielded from small names that gigged in more obscure clubs to chart-topping stalwarts that remained household name. From those 1000, RTI spent countless hours poring through every entry to narrow it down to a final 9 that now stand before you, the international juries and the Izmeduan public vote. RTI now asks for you to vote on these songs, which are as follows:

THE OFFICIAL PLAYLIST FOR IZMEPISMA

International juries will vote by ranking their top 7 songs in the following format. 12 points to their favorite, 10 to their 2nd, 8 to their 3rd, then 6, 4, 2, and 1 points for 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th respectively. Your least favorite 2 songs will not receive any votes. To vote, simply send a TG to Izmedu with the format (and if you have a national final, let me know and I will vote for yours in return).

The final result of Izmepisma will be determined through a 50/50 split of the international jury and public vote. The amount of points that the public will give out will be determined by how many international juries vote for the national final.

DEADLINE FOR VOTES: Saturday, November 12, 9:00PM PST

I'm sorry, Gurori, but you can't (well you can) just take someone elses idea for the postcards. Personally, I don't appreciate that, especially working hard to come up with the idea and to make all the postcards too. Plus, originality is key to a postcard - is it not?

Qua Chantera Pour Normandie? - Who Will Sing for Normandy and Picardy?

Welcome to Qua Vola Ganta Pôr Neûmen, the Normand National Final, which has been brought back so that you, the viewer at home, will have the chance to choose who will represent Normandy and Picardy at WorldVision 52, wherever that may be held. A variety of songs will be presented to you at home, as well as to a panel of international juries, and a Normand jury. The juries will be worth 50% of the vote, and the telephones will also be 50%. In the case of a tiebreak, whoever got the most points from the televote will be crowned the winner. The viewers at home will ring the number of their favourite act, and once all the televotes are in, the points will be assigned. Then, the combined votes of the juries, who will rank the votes, with 5 points for their favourite down to 1 for their least favourite, will be added, and we will know our winner. So, who wants you to vote for them? Say hello to your5 acts!

1. The Pain - Wild Horses
Tune: Hurts - Nothing Will Be Bigger Than Us
Yes, that's right, 10 contests after WV42, when the contest was held in Caen, the Pain have returned to the contest, with their new song 'Wild Horses'. It is wildly expected this will win with the televoters, but will the juries support it as well?

2. Joanne - The Key to Life
Tune: Javeria Mena - Otra Era
Joanne is an artist from Cherbourg who is slowly breaking into the Normand music scene. Whimsical synthpop is the genre of the year in Normandy and Picardy this year, but will the rest of the world appreciate this as well.

3. Manana - Sign
Tune: Lawson - Roads
Manana are your traditional guitar-playing pop group, with a fairly textbook song, but will playing by the rules result in an appearance at WorldVision, or will it mean they are forgotten amongst the other acts?

4. Jumme - Madness
Tune: Russkaja - Rock'n'Roll Today
Madness certainly describes this interesting entry; it certainly stands out from the other entries. Jumme is known for breaking the boundaries of Normand music and for their eccentric stage performances, but will we see them on the WorldVision stage?

5. Deuteronomy - La Voix
Tune: Byrta - Minnist Tu(OOC: I'm unsure if this has been used in the past. Please let me know)
Returning to the land of big stadium filling pop bangers, here we have Deuteronomy, the only group singing in French, with a song called 'La Voix' (The Voice). It is considered by the bookies a favourite to win, but are the bookies wrong?

Right, I'll close the NF when I bloody like 'cos I'm the bloody host! :p (Bonus points to whoever can tell me what this is a reference to)

Northern French Names but with a general Western Med vibe, welcome to N&P
