Why does the coincidence of Hiter's birth grant this place historic significance?

Purely for its historical value, I believe the house should stand, regardless of its status as a pilgrimage site for bigots. We don't tear down Jefferson Davis' house nor the former house of Congress of the Confederacy, nor do we demolish Stalin's Sochi palace nor Mussolini's villa. We allow the Nero's Domus Aurea and Genghis Khan's Delüün Boldog to be maintained for future generations. Why should we single out the house of Hitler to be demolished when we allow the birthplaces of so many other tyrants to be maintained in pristine condition? Should all residences of tyrants be demolished, history and all, so as to set an example, or to prevent bigots from rallying around them? Demolishing this structure will do nothing to suppress the ideology of racism and bigotry, it will merely destroy an integral piece of history in an attempt to put our less glamorous past out of sight and out of mind. This house should stand to serve as a reminder of the horrors of bigotry for future generations, just as the Auschwitz concentration camp does. If some bigots rally around its site, then so be it- they'd hold their views just as well were the entire house burned down.

The authorities already knew who had them, so it was futile not to comply voluntarily."

Fake. The Nazis seriously loosened gun laws.

Usually, people rent rooms in Inns for a few days while on vacation or business. Anyone who rents it to live there for a few months must have money.
So his family just rented the third floor.
So turn tear down the third floor. In reality, the owner could make plenty renting the third floor.

There are many schools in the area, IIRC. It would be geographically convenient, moreso than visiting Auschwitz.

£5 pints are arguably worse than this.

Hitler's parents never owned this place. They rented a room there.Minzerland II wrote:Then why not repurpose this as a museum?
You'd have to ask the owner.

I imagine there are already several WW2 museums and historical sites in Austria. There's no need to throw up a museum in every place Hitler spent more than 24 hours.
In 2014, the Austrian Ministry decided to open in the house a "House of Responsibility"—a museum dedicated to Hitler's crimes during the existence of the Third Reich.
