That's a very good point. It's never been necessary for the Court to use that power, which is a valid argument against why a body (let it be the Senate or otherwise) should receive it should the Court be abolished.

I'm slightly confused here. Maybe I'm just misreading it, but how is "never been used" a valid argument for why it should be kept?

You're misreading it: I'm inclined to agree with your argument ('it's never been used') against giving the Senate this power (should the Court be abolished).

My mistake. I had a feeling I missed something (in this case, "against")

I believe that the Senate should be able to remove officers in the same way as laws are passed- a Senator vote.

However, the Senate is a bit of a shambles at the moment- with just one actual Senator and two temporary.
We should only do this one we have more actual Senators.

I don't understand why it needs this power.

Power to the People!
If the community is unhappy with an officer, then they need to go. This is a democratic region, right?

They can already challenge the officer to an election.

Although it's true that this is a democratic region and we need the Senate to have some power, most of the time we will never know who is competent for a job unless they actually try to challenge these officers. What I am trying to say is that only those who feel themselves competent will challenge the officers and maybe make the region better.

I am not for or against this one. I agree that the TWI is a democratic region and the Senate needs some power but without any challenging the officers, how will we know who is good for the job?

I think this whole discussion should be postponed for now as there will be no senate under the new Constitution that most likely will pass.

Agreed. I think our attention right now should go to the proposal made by Vancouvia, which can be found here.

Seems legit. The only thing is whom should we send these weekly updates to? All nations of TWI?

Due to Vancouvia's seniority, vast experience both in the Senate and other branches of regional government, and the stability of his position as Senator due to the massive number of vouchers he has, I wish to appoint him to Speaker Pro Tempore. I will give the Senators and other interested parties three days to post any objections which they might have. If no objections are made during that time, then I will make the appointment official.

A bit late and probably no longer needed as PPU's already registered it in the info dispatch, but I'd like to officially state it for the record nonetheless: Vancouvia has been appointed to Speaker Pro Tempore of the Senate of The Western Isles. May he continue to serve the region in his new role as well as he has done in his previous roles.

With the Senate no more as per the new constitution, I'd like to thank all the former senators, speakers, and everyone else who has actively taken part in shaping our region's laws for their hard work. The Senate was what originally made me get truly involved with the region, so I bid it farewell with a bittersweet smile. It has served us well.
