My mom has developed this bad habit of telling me to spank my little sister Victoria or to "get" her. She even calls me out of my room to do it.
I told him about what my mom has been doing. I told him my mom let me spank her when I was living with her a while back. I told him I wasn't proud of that. I still got a long lecture about how spanking was wrong.
What he said was kinda hard to understand. He more talked about principles. But eventually the message became coherent. He said to put her in time out for 30 seconds or however long. If they refuse, take away whatever their source of entertainment is at the moment. He said to be mindful of why the kid is doing it and possibly address their need. He was very insistent, saying "You cannot spank no matter what!"
I wanted some example of where to use it when I got home. At first I thought I wouldn't be able to do it. 5 minutes later, my mom called me in and said "she needs to put her shows on. See if she'll do it for you." I thought 'Aha, a great opportunity.'
I told her to our her shoes in. She refused. At first I actually tried to pick her up. She banged her foot against a piece of furniture. I put her down and my mom comforted her. A minute later she resumed watching tv and still refused to put her shoes on.
She was watching teen titans Go. I tried to turn the tv off.
Victoria starts going crazy, flailing her body around and crying.
My therapist said "it'll be hard at first. But you gotta do it. If she's acting like a four year old, that's normal. She's a four year old." He emphasized that point. I remembered that.
She started hitting me. I shouldn't do it and I feel bad, but I just laughed. Then she kept doing it. Eventually she said she'll put the shoes on herself. She hit me and screamed "get away" at the top of her lungs. She walked to the car with the shoes in her hands.
I thought "well that was a disaster."
I asked mom if I did a good job. She said "yeah, you did a great job. Thank you."

Depends on whose world you are in.
Tolkien? Taller than me. (5'6")
D&D? Shorter.
Norse mythology? Taller.
Santa's workshop? Shorter.

You have a lot of room to play in with that one.

Venicilian: wow. Jesus hung around with everyone. boys, girls, rich, poor(mostly), sick, healthy, etc. in fact, i bet he even went up to gay people and tried to heal them so they would be straight.

New Kereptica: Since power is changed energy over time, an increase in power would mean, in this case, an increase in energy. As energy is equivalent to mass and the density of the government is static, the volume of the government must increase.

I don't know.

Speaking of Santa, Santa has a counterpart (or the other way around) in some places in Europe, and looks so much cooler than Santa.
Look at this guy.
He looks like he has traveled the world, seen many wonders, and is here to share his tales with the younger generation to keep the memories of old alive.

There is a lot of cross pollination with all of that mythos between Scandinavian, Germanic, and even Celtic pre-Christian sources. Then post-Christian appropriation really confused the Hell out of a lot of stuff.

Random question that's meaningful to me: What would your perception be of somebody who has a PhD in Philosophy and works as an academic? Would you give a shit? Would you think it's cool? Maybe even useless and high-strung?

1. I think it'd be cool. Nothing wrong about being a philosophy academic. I also think it'd be exciting to be able to research and come up with new ideas and perspectives.

2. My giving a shit would depend how close you are to me.

3. Yes, I would.

4. Depends on what you produce. If it is just navel-gazing I might think your literature and research is useless, but then again, if it is well informed and thought out I wouldn't think that at all, no.

Does that answer your question?
