It depends of what happens in future months with IS sympathizers trying to sneak back into their home countries. I can't find the exact figures of the number of UK nationals suspected of joining IS in Syria and elsewhere, but I would detain them indefinitely until their delusions can be eradicated and their "state" is reduced to dust and history.

Pretty sure CPS would charge anyone who's known to have joined ISIS and take it through criminal courts, of course problem is in identifying all of them.

I don't think most of them are coming back in through official links. It's not like you need to do so anyways. Plenty of spots to wade in on shore. That's the fear, I believe. Not knowing how many are back.

One cell planning a large-scale Manchester bombing operation was busted, presumably long before the go phase, a "direct action" operation against EDL demonstrators in Dewsbury was thwarted by the terrorists themselves being so shit they turned up late and went home (to Birmingham) and "the ricin plot", which was almost certainly "inspired lone wolf" rather than an actual Islamist operation.

I think prestige matters for both propaganda and recruitment reasons. A London attack carries both of those things more so than an attack in Luton for example. It also carries more fear "if they can bomb central London nowhere is safe" Whilst to a certain extent people and the elites espechally would be "oh how terrible but it's not London, they can't bomb us."

They're complaining about being unable to exercise due discretion over "marginal breaches".

They're not letting people just walk through either, they're actively sending them to the red line, to pay the excess duty - rather than confiscating all the goods, which are then destroyed, I guess, which waste's everyone's time and money. Lots of it.
