Eyal benOren and Lihi batKidla sat at the bar, stools turned out to view the rest of the establishment. Not far away Lior batAryeh was shooting pool against a couple of drunk local boys. She was busy flirting with them to keep them from focusing to highly on the game which had 200 roubles riding on it. A shame for them, since her own interests for some end of evening entertainment were focused on her current opponent’s girlfriend, but there would be time later to take her away from him after Lior took his money.

Lihi sighed and took another drink from her mug.

“It’s Yerushalayim all over again,” she complained. “Worse even, I didn’t make it past the cut for this one. Maybe I’m getting old.”

“You. Old. Right,” laughed Eyal. “You’re still one of the top fifty archers in the world. And you’re still competitive. You’ve just plateaued for a little. You’ll be back on top at some point. Or, at worst, just behind me.” Lihi punched him in the shoulder.

“Did you see the profile interview she did last week?” Lihi asked. “Said I was her hero. Now she’s outshining me. The nerve of that girl.”

“Eh. I think she’s being honest about that. Did you see the pictures she took in her college dorm on social media? There’s a poster of you hanging on the wall. The one for Adina’s.”

“Oh my god. My sports bra ad?”

“Hey, you looked deadly in that picture. Eagle eyed, bow drawn. That was a good poster.”

“I wasn’t wearing a shirt!”

“Even better.” Lihi smacked Eyal on the back of the head. Eyal chuckled. “Hey, if it makes you feel better, I’ll talk with my brother when we get back and see if I can do my own underwear ad.” Lihi nearly spat up her beer.

“Oh yeah, that’s exactly what I need. To see you in your underwear.”

“What else do you have for entertainment these days? Lior?” he motioned with his bottle where the young archer was sinking the eight-ball. With a confident, satisfied smirk she picked up the money from the edge of the table. Lior counted it out and smiled back at the local.

“Pleasure doing business with you, boys,” Lior said as she started to turn away.

“Hey, how about another game. Double or nothing.” Lior looked over at them.

“Mm. Not interested. I’ve got enough of your money already.”

“Come one, give me a chance to win back my money.”

“I’ll tell you what. You can have your money back. For a kiss from your girlfriend here.” The local laughed and looked at his girl. She scoffed.

“Are you serious?”

“Hey, babe. It’s up to you. It is 200 roubles, though.”

“Ugh. Fine.” The girl walked over to Lior and gave her a quick kiss on the lips.

“Uh uh,” Lior said. “That’s not a kiss. This is a kiss.” Lior went in and began to kiss the other woman deeply. Initially alarmed, the other woman slowly began to kiss back. Finally, Lior ended the kiss with the now out of breath woman. Lior held up the money. “Best 200 roubles I ever spent.” She walked away from the locals over to the other Judean archers, but on the way gave a long lingering back at the Mattijanan woman. She finished her walk back to the bar and ordered a beer before sitting on a stool next to Lihi and spinning around to face the same direction.

“You’re evil, you know,” said Lihi.

“I’m not evil. I just know what I want and I’m not afraid to go after it. You taught me that.”

“I taught you what now?”

1885 26 2

Postby Paradisiam » Tue Sep 06, 2016 5:08 pm

Bells rang in local churches and cups clamored in sports bars and pubs all around the nation. The Paradisiam Archery Lodge athletes took fourth place with the least amount of misses of the top scoring teams resulting in 1885 points. "Bloggers and social networks are a buzz with the news of 26 bulls-eyes", says self-proclaimed sports news reporter Ink Wright. "Everyone is finding a new sense of global nationality as we hope to bring back first place, it seems our culture has a place even amongst the top sporting countries in the world." "a live-feed of our PAL's athletes reactions to this news will be brought to you as soon as I get this camera to work" says Ink Wright.

Cute cat videos are soon replaced with the expertly placed bulls-eyes with crowds cheering in the background on Whotube as number one most watched video this week, and the PAL whotube channel welcomes a fresh new batch of subscribers and now provided daily footage of athletes preparing themselves and sharing their dreams to be in PAL events locally and abroad to market their new campaign for various religious and sports related products.

Ugalik and Wang set off to a great start at NS Archery Open I

The international archery event held in Petrovijanka, Mattijana that started two days ago has brought some really promising results for archers from Amberian Islands so far. In individual ranking round, incredible performances from both Anastasiya Ugalik and Wang Eun Joo secured their spot in the top ten from the total of 48 archers. Ugalik finished sixth and Wang ninth which means they would face Kate Borrows from Britonisea and Triniti Moraia from Vilita and Turori in the round of 32 respectively. In the interview, 21-year old Ugalik said that she wasn't expecting such an astonishing result and is truly happy to begin her first major international event in such way. Wang was also satisfied and hopes to acknowledge her good form also in the next rounds. The only man from the delegation, Yeremey Pamiuq, wasn't able to make it into the next round after finishing 40th. When it comes to the team ranking round, the three archers scored 1871 points combined meaning they would enter the next round from the 15th place. The team would face House of Judah which finished 18th. The event continues tomorrow with the individual round of 32.

NSAO1 Report- Day 2

Welp, that's one way to start the team event.

The Vans' archery team finished 23rd out of the 32 respective delegations, well below the anticipated goal. Despite the humiliation, the Qads did manage to pull off 26 bullseyes, while suffering from 3 missed targets.

The decline started when David Acuais missed his first shot, a terrible way to begin the round. Later on, the Qads started getting the hang of things as Marlie Yikati nailed 14 bullseyes over her turns. In the end, however, Team Qasden finished with 1861 points, just above Sjovenia by bullseyes. Sure, it sounds good, but they were 26 points behind the victorious Asteran, with 21 countries in between.

Next for the team in Petrovijanka, the Round of 32, where we will face off with The Serbian Empire 2 days from now. Tomorrow, we'll get to see our Marlie and Tyler go head to head with members of the Mattijana and Katawohan delegation in the individual KOs.

That's all for now. Can Ponaski and Yikati defeat their opponents and progress? Or will their adversaries tackle the Qads once and for all. Stay tuned, stay updated, and stay alert for our Day 3 report, straight from the Esportivan country of Mattijana!

“I can’t believe we only made the 18th seed,” Lior batAryeh complained. “Hell, we have just as many bullseyes as the guys in second and third. With less misses.”

“Yeah, but there were plenty of places where we lost points,” Eyal benOren replied. “Still can’t believe I had so many shots go wide. I must be slipping.”

“You did fine,” Lihi batKidla said.

“Yeah,” Lior agreed. “We all messed up a little out there.”

“Look, in a couple of days we go up against Amberians,” Eyal said. “When we do, we show them just where millennia of archery has gotten the sport in Judea. And tomorrow, Lior and I give it Kovac and Rule and just as good. No more misses, no more wide shots. Dead center every time. We hit what we aim for.”

“Sounds good to me,” said Lior.

“You know, speaking of hitting what you aim for,” Eyal began, “what happened with that girl from last night?” Lihi groaned. Lior just grinned.

“She crossed the border for a night. She returned in the morning.”

“So, no new girlfriend for you.”

“That’s fine. I have other things to keep me occupied.” Lihi scoffed at the two.

“Both of you are degenerates,” she said with light contempt.

“You know you love us,” said Eyal.

“Maybe,”

No I in Team

Day 2 of the NS Archery Open saw the start of the team event. Where nations from near and far have come to battle to reign supreme.

West Phoenicia ended day 2 ranking 12 out of 32. Marion Hood and Pete Long were the outstanding archers of the day while Ameila Defence continued to be a thorn in their sides.
There is no I in team but that hasnt stopped Ameila Defence declaring herself captain of the archery team, claiming the last Olympics as the reason why she should be captain and the fact she is the highest ranking female archer in West Phoenicia.

Ameila Defence has come across as a spoilt and often off the field she she cold to her companions. Instead of working as a team she sees them as an enemy she needes to be beat.

"In Individual it is every man and woman for themselves but when it comes to the team event we need to act as a team. "

The round of 16 fixtures will see West Phoenicia battle Britonisea who are currently ranked 21st. There is a greater chance for West Phoenicia to proceed. They played better in Day 2 and they need to keep that focus as at the end of the day bullseye different was a difference of 1.

After an impressive start in the individual ranking rounds with 2 of 3 archers qualifying. With Voruganti Joythi placing 4th with 6 bullseyes and 0 target misses
totalling a score of 629 points which was a suprise to many fans as they expected Ranii Vihana to be one of the toppers in the table, and Osman Nagubandi didnt qualify for the individual competion.
The following is an extract of the interview with Voruganti Joythi by The Rajj Brodcasting Network:
Reporter-How was the match?were you happy with your performance?
Joythi-The match was amazing,I never expected to be ranked 4th out of 48 and i am happy as this gives me a good chance in the knouckout rounds as this
gives me a better chance of moving further in the individual competion. All in all i am very happy with my performance and hope i made my family and country proud.Jai Rajj!

Sadly in the team ranking round The Rajj finished a measly 29th/4th last, the team scored 1855 points and 21 bullseyes.this was dissapointing to say the least, as 2 archers in the team consisted of 2 top 15 Ranking round finishers. But the team held a press conference and say they will have to try their best against Paradisiam and they will try their best to make Rajjite Archery proud.

“Since that fundraiser for the da Silva family started two weeks ago, the St. George Sports Club has received over £25,000 in donations. The club is accepting donations on their website, stgeorgesc.as, or at the club's main hall: 25 Peters Road, St. George, Kirano.”

“Now to archery, and the third day of the Archery Open. After a magnificent first-place finish in the team ranking round, it was back to the individual contest and the round of 32 matchups for the field. Brittany Schiffer opened with a surprise loss to Mazurska's Ana Sazická, 106-100. Schiffer faltered early against Sazická, dropping points on her first three arrows. A short rally in the middle of the match saw Schiffer pull to within three, but Sazická outshot Schiffer at the end of the round, ending Schiffer's individual medal hopes.

“It's a tough loss to take. I never really got into the match, and my shooting in the first third pretty much killed it. We'll regroup, get ready for the team knockout tomorrow, and be there to support Derrick through to the individual finals.”

“The second Asteran archer, Derrick Moore, claimed a famous victory over West Phonecia's Marion Hood, winning 108-101. A good opening for Moore carried him through the match, with Moore's consistent shooting seeing him through to the round of 16. Hood shot well, but a poor middle of the match gave Moore an opening that he exploited.

“I felt good out there today, y'know. Getting off to the good start helped us finish it out, and I can carry that into the round of 16 and into the team knockouts. It was tough to see Brit lose her match early, and it does add a little pressure onto my shoulders as the last one standing. We'll keep working, and hopefully keep moving forward in the competition.”

“Moore moves on to the round of 16, where he will face off against Tyler Ponaski of Qasden. The Blue Lions will look to rebound with a winning start in the team round of 32 as they face Deuschstien to open the round. Coverage starts live at 8AM on ABC Sports 2.”

NSAO1 Report- Day 3

Day 3. Today's the first big test for Marlie Yikati and Tyler Ponaski as they take of Nyoman and Jelena of Katawohan and Mattijana in the singles' R32.

Marlie Yikati v Nyoman Yeung

After a decent performance in the RR, Marlie was assigned Nyoman as her main opponent in Petrovijanka. Everything started out ok for Yikati, clinching bullseyes here and there. Then, out of nowhere, Yeung started to rack up points faster than Marlie, eventually winning the match, 108-104. Yikati's defeat was a painful one to watch, but her time in Mattijana hasn't ended yet. Tomorrow, she regroups with David and Tyler in the team R32. As for Yeung, the Katawohan delegate will face Lidija Kovac of The Serbian Empire in the individual's round of sixteen.

Tyler Ponaski v Jelena Allicic

With Marlie stepping down, the Qad Individuals Delegation was all left to Ponaski, whom finished 14th in the ranking round. With the prideful placing, the Turkish Van matched up against the host's own Allicic in the R32. Unlike Marlie, Tyler kept a decent scoring pace throughout the match, eventually winning, 107-101. The defeat of Jelena lowered Mattijana's singles representation to 1, and Tyler kept Qasden at 1 as well. Next for the Qad, a meetup with Derrick Moore of Asteran in the R16.

Along with Ponaski's success, TQ will be looking to overcome The Serbian Empire tomorrow when the meetup in the team event's R32. Despite the defeats of Acuais and Yikati, the Vans will need to stay alert against a team with 2 out of 3 of its delegates in the singles' R16. When push comes to shove, a Qad victory will be vital in this tournament.

That's all for now. Will the Qads shut down The Serbian Empire and reach the R16? Or can their opponents sweep 'em away from the title run? Stay tuned, stay updated, and stay alert for our day 4 report, only available from Petrovijanka!

Yet you progressed Katija Kreuzana when she had lost.

Ameila Defence lodges official complaint with the NS Archery organsiers after beating Katija Kreuzana in a tie breaker but her competitor was the one to progress to to the top 16 fixtures.

After the defeat of Pete Long and Marion Hood. The West Phoenician Archery Association was quick to file this administration error.

Ooc: Oops, my bad... It's typed in correctly on Xkorinate, so I think I just had a slight mental lapse when I was typing it out there. The errors (I spotted another similar one where I accidentally advanced Kate Borrows instead of Anastasiya Ugalik) have all been fixed now. Thanks for pointing that out to me!

Notoriously Dodgy Mattijanan Admin misfires again

Mattijana's sports administration team followed the mild embarrasment of not submitting a roster in time for the first round of the Campionata Esportiva and missing out some sports in their Olympic roster by sending through the wrong archer in the current NS Archery Open in Petrovijanka. In the official fixture list for the round of 16, home number 2, Katja Kreuzana, who had earlier lost in a mentally gruelling tie-break to West Phoencia's Ameila Defence, was advanced instead of the victorious Defence.

Secretary Marko Darićić, who many believe was responsible for the error, refused to accept the blame for the incident, but is expected to be subject to an investigation following this and the errors earlier in the summer.
Sports minister Julian Petrov has been criticised for not overseeing the administrative section of the sports department more closely, particularly after saying himself that the error was down to "a mistake made further down the chain" and insisted that the fact a Mattijanan archer was mistakeanly advanced should not be "treated as suspicious, but was merely an unfortuanate coincedence." He also said that a "thorough investigation would be conducted to prevent future mistakes."

Meanwhole, Marijuanan arčer Matej Pingoff was the only home archer to pegross from the round of 23, boating Zelda Moraia 105-104. Jelena altidude was illiminated by Tiger Ponaski from Kazden 101-107.

Lior batAryeh slumped onto the bar stool next to Lihi batKidla.

"I can't believe I'm out already," Lior moaned. "By inches!" she cried and threw her hands up. Lihi shook her head.

"I was saying much the same thing the other day."

"Yeah. And being a lot more composed about it." Lior's beer arrived and she drank half it in one swig. She leaned back against the bar and hung her head back. "You're so much more mature than me," she mock whined. Lihi snorted in response.

"Right." The two sat in silence for a few moments, then Lihi looked over at Lior. "So, I hear that you have one of my posters on your wall."

"Oh yeah. You're everything I want to be as an archer in that picture. Grace, poise, killer instinct-"

"Killer instinct? You know that I've only ever put arrows into targets, right?"

"I mean, yeah. But still, you just look so dialed in. You are the bowess that hits her mark. That poster's why I'm even competing after college. I didn't think it was even a possibility for me until I saw you. Youngest archer to ever win the bullseye competition in the national championship, first woman to win back-to-back titles. You're Artemis!"

"I don't think I'm quite that divine, but I suppose it is nice to be praised."

"I was so excited when I got to compete with you in nationals the past few years, and getting to actually shoot against you for the title last year? It was everything I could have hoped for." Lihi marveled at the exuberance of her young team mate, then chuckled and patted her on the shoulder.

"You're alright, Lior. Come on. I seem some locals who want to lose money shooting pool." Lior looked over at the pool table, then downed the rest of her drink.

"Hit the mark, every time."

NSAO1 Report- Day 4

Another day, another tough opponent.

The Vans in the NSAO team event were put to the test today against The Serbian Empire, who finished 10th overall in the ranking round. Seemed like a pretty decent matchup.

The match started, and the Qads were already behind, 20-16. Things didn't look good for Qasden, but Marlie Yikati and Tyler Ponaski stepped up and scored 75% combined of the total score. In the end, TQ finished with 200 points. Not too bad. However, the Serbs were just on the top of their game, and the Vans lost 200-211.

The 11-point deficit stained the name of Qad Archery, and both David and Marlie packed up the rackets for good in Mattijana. The Serbian Empire's team will compete against Las Islas Tuquesas overmorrow. With TQ eliminated prematurely in the team competition, the Vans only have one more hope going into tomorrow... Tyler Ponaski.

Ponaski overall performed the best out of Qasden's NSAO athletes, landing in 14th at the singles' ranking round. When he faced Jelena of the hostland in the R32, he slipped by and booked a ticket in the Round of Sixteen, where he'll take on Derrick Moore of Asteran, whom defeated Marion Hood of West Phoencia in the R32.

That's all for this report. Can Tyler outlast Derrick in the Round of 16 for a quarterfinal spot? Or will Moore slap the last of Qasden's chances in the face against Ponaski? Stay tuned, stay updated, and stay alert for our Day 5 and hopefully not last report from the lively city of Petrovijanka!

A happier day for the Rajj,

As the win aginst Paradisiam strengthened a previously poor team in the rankings with the Rajj finishing 29th out of 32 not good in a nation where
Archery is the National Sport. But the Rajj sends his congrats to the atheletes in the games as they won Paradisiam 206-204,2 point gap yet very good
as the Ranii led her team to the win scoring 190 points and voruganti joythis still feeling the poor form from the individual round scoring a measly 7 points
as well as Osman not playing well.

In the next round against Kep,it is yet to be seen if the Rajj will be an one woman team or the others will step their game.A press conference after the game
the team said they were very happy that they have progressed to the next round and will spend more hours in the training area to improve their game and
they promise to make the Rajj proud!Jai Rajj

Owinn Archery Team Advances

As Day four ended, the Owinn team at the Archery Open came off the field with hopeful spirits. The round of thirty two fixtures has concluded for the team side of affairs in Mattijana. Shanowinn was fixed against Katawohan, and this competition was close. Katawohan's team ended the fourth day with 209 points, however the Owinn archers just outperformed, scoring 210 total points.

Brynne Lútair, one of the Owinn team members, said that "Katawohan came out strong, and we came out strong, but we came out on top and I'm really happy; I'm happy for the team. I'm excited for the next level." Lútair performed decently herself, and helped move the team forward. The Owinn team is placed relative to the team for Britonisea in the round of sixteen fixtures.

In the meantime, Gaela Marrek represents Shanowinn individually today, as she duels against Ana Sazicka. Results will follow as the Telegraph apprehends them.

NSAO1 Report- Day 5

Oh mince, it's the IBC all over again!

Going into the Round of Sixteen, Qad archer, Tyler Ponaski, was scheduled to play against Derrick Moore of Asteran. When it was time for his matchup, he noticed something different about his opponent. For one thing, there was no Asteran representation anywhere on the opponent's uniform, and Derrick Moore was male, not female. Surprise! It was instead a duel against Shanowinn's Gaela Marrek, to the shock of a few Qads in Mattijana.

Many Qads almost went nostalgic, as the incident seemed somewhat similar to that of Qasden's first match in the 21st International Basketball Championships, where the Qads were originally supposed to play Quebec...and instead played Electrum. But we shouldn't be talking about basketball right now! We gotta talk about the last remaining Qad in Petrovijanka!

So, despite the mixup, Tyler was still confident in his game. Marrek put up a fight, leading Ponaski a few times every arrow and there. Tyler was resilient to her skills, however, and topped Gaela 106 to 101, eliminating the last of Shanowinn in the individuals' event. The boy was nearly overwhelmed by the victory, and now he is under the same stress as Halaeo DiGaldi had at ES3.

"Oh man. First of all, this match was absolutely nuts. I have to hand it to Marrek for giving me a run for my money. With tomorrow off, I'll be able to focus on practicing for my next match in the quarters. I guess this is how Halaeo (DiGaldi) felt."

Next for Team Qasden....well.....Tyler, is a quarter-final clash against Anastasiya Ugalik of Amberian Islands, an archer who revenged Marlie Yikati by defeating Nyoman Yeung, 107 to 102.

That's all for this report. Can Tyler Ponaski uplift Ugalik and become the first Qad archer to ever reach a semifinal? Or will Anastasiya shut down the last of the Qads and force us to stay with DiGaldi and Qasden Basketball in the QF spot? Stay tuned, stay updated, and stay nerdy for our next report, live from the NationStates Archery Open at Petrovijanka!

With West Phoenicia eliminated from the team event and Pete Long and Marion Hood both knocked out. Hope for a win lies with Ameila Defence.
Ameila was able to knocked out Serbian Empire archer Marika Gaboric in a tight heat that had her win by 1 point. She now proceeds to the quarter-finals where she takes on Paradisiam competitor Arcadius Sperios for the chance to progress to the Semi-Finals.

Up close and personal with Ameila Defence

How do you think you have played so far?

"I have played to the best of my ability. I feel my own team thought i did not have a shot. But it takes me a match to warm up. I like to size up the competition, see how talented they are. Study their strengths and weaknesses. End of the day i am in the quarter-finals and my team mates are not."

What happened with the previous game?

"Some administration error progressed my competitor . But the West Phoenician Archery Association was quick to act and it was all sorted."

What do you think of the NS Archery Open so far?

I believe this is a great opportunity for international archers to take part in such a grand event. Apart from the Olympics there are not many archery tournaments outside of one's home nation."

The fashionista's out there really want to know who designed your archery attire?

"House of Le'Mink. They design all my attire. It's a great but small expensive fashion house that has their headquarters in Antebellum Territory, West Phoenicia. This skirt alone with it's gold dust print is $3000."

What results can we expect from your next match
" A win darling. Anything but a win will not suffice."

Ink Wright and his camera crew of one man on a high-end HiPhone sit in apprehension waiting for their prey. Wheels lumbered down by luggage and footsteps pass their ears and an elevator dings in the distance. The stink of sweaty athlete gear filling their nostrils. Then the door. A chlorine covered man with handsome feature appears wearing nothing but a towel, they pounce at the opportunity. "Arcadius how do you feel being the only archer eligible in the Paradisiam Archery Lodge to possibly attain victory against West Phoenicia's own Amelia Defence?" Suprised he promptly replies "Honored of course, she plays the bow-string like a musician plays the harp" as he rummages through his possessions in a black leather bag.

They move in closer gaining a close-up of his disgruntled face "And how do you plan to top her score in the next round?!" at this moment he finds his phone and retreats to the bathroom, locking the door. They knock and ask again the same question. "Yes this is Arcadius Sperios, I'm here with PAL for the NS Archery Open, could you send some security I've just gotten back from the pool and there are two men asking me questions... Yes it's urgent!" *click*

While waiting for security he decides to answer through the door "I am going to clear my mind with some shower singing and hopefully the trainers that work for the PAL will be able to obtain any information that might help me train better against my next opponent. All we do is train after my alloted relaxtion and nutrition time." Excited by the so far successful interview they probe another question. "What do you think of Amelia's sport-gear and can the gear provided to you by the Paradisiam Archery Lodge compare to it's craftsmanship?" Intrigued by this question Arcadius slips the door open to answer the reporter "Most of the gear I wear is standard athlete apparel for archers and marksmen in my country, nothing to fancy but it does keep me cool under pressure I suppose."

Finally security arrives excorting Ink Wright and his camera-man from the premises. "Stay tuned for the next round of the NS Archery Open all the way from Petrovijanka, Mattijana" yells Ink as he is twirled out of the building.
