Jäger-I Command Station, Orbit of Earth

Germany had approximately twenty of its spacecraft carrying Nuclear tipped missiles in orbit around the Earth and one command station to oversee them. True this was a violation of international law but once they went up, no one could really stop them without a war. And at this moment, the Astronaut's aboard the command station were watching with horror of the news of the launches. Codes were being entered, keys were being inserted, and there was a great tension as they awaited orders to fire the arsenal. However a number of the Astronaut's noticed something, no visible sighting of the launches nor anything on their detection systems.

Kommandant Feisler, contacted the K.M.S. Saxe-Gotha their relay ship in the Pacific to inform them of this. "That's right Mutter, this is Kind, we have detected no launches nor is there any visible sighting of warheads. We will continue to monitor and remain on alert."

Vanaughet Base, Somewhere in the Bavarian Alps

Kaiser Wilhelm stalked the halls of his personal fallout shelter in the Alps towards the situation room. He had read Haussler's message and was perplexed and furious at the same time. He wasn't sure if the fool was bluffing innocence or serious. Germany had not attacked Spektronia, Spektronia and Capile had attacked Germany. And by thunder he was just about ready to give the orders to return fire. Their AMDS systems would be capable of downing approximately 45% of the warheads but the remainder was still enough to devastate the Empire. Still was there a chance a similar glitch had bugged their own system? If so then all options should be considered.

The German Nuclear Arsenal at present consisted of close to six thousand warheads so revenge could be easily enough taken. But the Kaiser was still hesitant to condemn hundreds of millions for the actions of their government.

As soon as he entered the room, nobody stopped their vitally important work to salute as they would for a regular leader. He walked right over to his desk and passed a written note to Ludwig Kost, the Foreign Minister with orders to transmit it to the offices of both Grand Duke Klaus and Chancellor Haussler.

[b]Missive from His Imperial Majesty to Chancellor Haussler

Quote; "You bastard! How dare you accuse the great and glorious German Empire of striking first. Our early warning detection systems had detected launches by both Spektronia and the Capilean's. Now explain what the hell is going on before I give orders to retaliate with the full might of our great and glorious Empire! Our command station in orbit has detected no launches on its end nor visible confirmation! So what the bloody hell is going on here!" Unquote

The message to Grand Duke Klaus would be a bit more personalized and Wilhelm would have started on it if not for the fact that his brother Heinrich informed him that Princess Elizabeth was currently at the German Embassy in Capile as she was continuing her relationship with Prince Karl. So he would have to be quite calmer.

Missive from His Imperial Majesty to Grand Duke Klaus

Quote; "My dear friend this accusation strikes to the core. We did not form those pacts of friendship and cooperation just to break them with a nuclear assault. I swear on my life that Germany has not launched any missiles but we have detected Capilean and Spektronian launches at Germany. All our embassies have information on German military operations. And we're this supposed attack real, would my niece, Princess Elizabeth la Germania und Bayern, whom is in your country continuing her relationship with your grandson Prince Karl, not have been evacuated back to German soil. I should also like to inquire as to her safety as she is presently not at the German embassy in your nation." Unquote

The Hauptmann was shocked but angered by such accusations but drew his own pistol, aimed at the Spektronian. "How dare you question the honor of a German officer?!"
Proud advocate that Europe stands stronger together than divided. The EU may be flawed in some areas but the idea of a united Europa can only bring good fortune to Europe and the world. For more than two thousand years, Europe was home to conflicts inspired by coveting one another's territory and resources, even making the continent the home to some of the world's most destructive and costly conflicts. But the idea was all wrong in their minds. Their idea was to bring this territory or that under their flag and spread influence on the continent. The idea they should all have been thinking was that the goal should be to bring the continent under one unified flag.

Großherzog Bunker

Oberfunker Otto Strauß stared intently down at the four men under his command. They were all extremely tense, managing the radios, telephones, and other communication modules of the bunker. One, stationed at a modern computer, suddenly straightened up and began typing frantically. After a moment of this he turned and stood up. "Oberfunker, we have received a message from the government still at the Kaiservolkshaus. They have forwarded us several messages from foreign governments, to be given to the Grand Duke immediately.

Grand Duke Klaus sat upright in an uncomfortable metal chair. In front of him was a large stainless steel table, upon which lay a large map of the Grand Duchy; nuclear targets were clearly indicated. Around the table were countless military aides and officers of the OKR, all tediously awaiting any forms of communication from the outside world. Suddenly the metal door swung open, and a short man in a crisp communication officer's uniform strode forward. Stomping his right foot whilst saluting, he said "Mein herzog! We have received three messages, two from Spektronia and one from the Reich."

Klaus brightened, licking his dry lips in anticipation and rushing over to the Oberfunker. He took the three printed papers and studied them, the various officers crowded around their leader. The Grand Duke lowered the first letter crestfallen. "Spektronia has declared war on us." He let the paper fall to the table, where it was snatched by Winser. Klaus began on the second. "The Kaiser has sent us a missive, explaining that he is shocked to the core and hopes his niece, Princess Elizabeth, will be given safe passage back to the Fatherland."

He handed that note to one of the men behind him. Now for the last. "It seems that Chancellor Häussler has reached out, demanding an explanation." Klaus dropped that, spun around on his heels, and made his way to the cramped communications office, the Oberfunker on his heels. All four sweaty junior officer jumped to their feet, unsure whether to bow or salute, when the Grand Duke entered. He turned to the man who had sprung up from the computer. "I will dictate two messages to you, one intended for the Unified German Reich and the other for Spektronia."

Salutations,
great leader of the Fatherland.
This is a most serious topic. I can personally reassure you that NO nuclear weapons of any sort are aimed at either your Reich or Spektronia. I was in fact informed that both your glorious nation and Spektronia were preparing to launch weapons at the Grand Duchy.

Clearly something underhanded is taking place, and we must defuse the situation. In any case, I can assure that no harm will come to Princess Elizabeth and that if you wish her to return home then that will be arranged with utmost haste.
I hope that we can work this out, together with the Spektronian Chancellor, and avert a world crisis.
Sincerely,

Greetings,
old friend. I am glad you have contacted me.
I can personally reassure you that NO weapons are aimed at your great nation, and I was in fact informed that both Spektronia and the Reich had prepared nuclear weapons to fired at the Grand Duchy.

I am convinced that there is something is wrong here, and we must work together and with the German Kaiser to defuse the situation.
Please, I am convinced that declarations of war are premature.
Would you be willing to negotiate a peace and/or a meeting between ourselves and perhaps Kaiser Wilhelm?
Sincerely,

National Security Headquarters, Piyongzhou, Ghosnia

All staff of the DNS (Department of National Security) had been notified at least twenty minutes prior that the President was on her way to review the statuses of Spektronia, Germany, and Nova Capile. The staff now were at their best behavior, and making sure their information was compiled, organized, and ready. The AW101 Chopper touched down on the landing pad outside of the facility, where it was awaited by two uniformed Ghosnian Army soldiers. The loading ramp lowered and the two soldiers stood at attention as the President and Secretary Lufing exited the craft. They were met by Huang Jou, the current head of the DNS HQ. "Madam President!" he shouted over the whirling helicopter blades. "Come inside, our information is ready for your review!" Mr. Jou led the pair inside the facility where they boarded an elevator, bringing them down to the lower levels of the facility. The two were then led to the Central Command Room of the facility, where staff members were hard at work. "Right this way Mrs. President, our information is ready." Jou escorted President Sonn to a large stainless metal table laid out with information.

"The most prominent piece of information we have," Jou said as he shuffled through maps "is this..." He showed the president a map containing Spektronia, Nova Capile, and the German Reich, all of them connected with red lines, designated nuclear warhead paths. "They launched warheads?.." The President looked concerned as the scanned she map. "Well, we aren't sure." Jou admitted "The systems have not yet confirmed, and we checked our satellites. A crystal clear feed, but no visible warheads heading anywhere." The President rubbed her chin and huffed lightly out of confusion. "Double check the systems, then contact Capile and the Reich, make sure we have confirmation of no weapons launched."

Two messages were relayed to Nova Capile and The German Reich from President Sonn, questioning the possible nuclear strikes.

Imperial Palace, Toad Town
in the New Mushroom Kingdom, many senior government officials were currently panicing. Not because of any nukes, but because of the effects of evidently fake nukes that were most likely the result as of a cyberattack. However, it was decided not go to immediately to DEFCON 1 and full 'Emergency' mode due to these mitigating factors. It would seem that at this present time, this country was the only one to know for sure that there were no real nuclear warheads in orbit. It had been fortunate for the country that no actual nuclear weapons had been launched - as a ally of Nova Capile it would have likely been the target of at least one if not more of the 3 nations.

Regent Vince was in his office, heavily worried. He said very loudly to the people nearby: "Well, it seems they have either ignored or not looked at our message to them. Damned bastards, don't they realise that billions of lives are at stake here? Even a strictly limited nuclear war could severely effect civilization worldwide. I will not let that happen, I simply won't. What to do...what to do..."
Minister Kandi was also in the room. He was thinking of what steps to take next - how could this situation be defused so that the world didn't have to enjoy nuclear winter and god knows what else. He quickly remembered that the Spektronians had an embassy in the city, and as they declared war first it would be a very good idea to start there. Such an impromptu visit would likely be impolite / a breach of protocol, but damnit this was very needed. He spoke up to the Regent "Sir, May I suggest that we have an impromptu visit to our local Spektronian Ambassador? The situation certainly calls for it, damn the consquences." and the Regent nodded and was slightly happier. He said back "Why, that's an excellent idea. If they won't pay attention, we simply have to make them do so. I'll get my coat, would you kindly prepare a car?" and rapidly began preparing for his visit, which hopefully would defuse this crisis and bring back the world from the brink of nuclear anhilation.

After a short period of time, everyone was ready and the car (holding both the Minister and Regent as well as multiple copies of the report about the likely cyberattack) departed from the Palace so that it would shortly arrive at the doors of the Spektronian embassy in Toad Town.

Inside the city, a parade celebrating the success of the attack on the broadcasting station was being celebrated with a parade. Rumor had that several members of Daesh were in attendance. When the unidentified individuals landed on the outskirts of the city, the APCAI militants positioned there pointed their AKs at them out of caution. The militants were rather surprised to hear the strange men speaking Pashto, but even more surprised by what they said in Pashto.

Suddenly, from behind the militants a few trucks on the road going into the city which were escorted by two BTRs. Out of one truck, a few militants and a man in a Galabiyyas approached the men. "What is going on here?" The militants immediately stood at attention for the man. "Ayatollah, your holiness! These men supposedly have an offer for you, sir." Said one of the men with an AK pointed at one of the mysterious men. "An offer? I am Abdul Vaziri, the head of the APCAI. Who do you represent?"

Henschel lowered his USP from pointing upwards to directly at the German. Tazir followed by drawing his M9 and aiming it at the German as well, while the troops just a few yards away remained oblivious to the situation taking place between the three men. Tazir looked down at the tablet again with a look of surprise and spoke to Henschel in Pashto. "Sir! The SNSD just confirmed that no nuclear warheads have been launched at us, but our scanners still detect intercontinental nuclear warheads. The declarations of war are still valid though." Henschel looked back at the German once again and spoke in German once more. "The Spektronian National Space Department have confirmed that no nuclear warheads are inbound for Spektronia or any of our colonies. The declaration of war continues to stand at the moment though... Let's remain calm and put our weapons away. Once we're done surveying the gunships you will be free to return back over the border with no harm done to you or your men. You have my word."

"I'm here to represent the People's Republic of Olimpiada. And what I offer is quite simple: a higher chance of success. In the crate I'm standing in front of, we have-" Markos switched quickly into Greek. "Constantinos, what do we have in that one?"

"R17A1s," came the curt response from the tall man in a kevlar vest, before moving out another box.

"Right. That bullpup the military opted for." Back to Pashto. "Better guns. In another somewhere in here, there's a few anti-air and anti-tank missiles. In return, we only ask that you beat the Spektronians back. We have... issues with their current foreign policy. Keep winning, and more will come. Sound good?" he asked, smiling. The smile was genuine. He loved this job, and doing it made him happy. He got to see fantastic new places and meet interesting new people like the leader of a militant rebel movement. He was amazed he didn't have to pay the MSI to do this. Instead, they paid him. Quite well, actually.

Großherzog Bunker

Grand Duke Klaus hovered impatiently above the four men manning the various gadgets of the communications office, expecting a reply from either the Reich or Spektronia. He breathed a sigh of relief as one of them started and began flipping switches and typing frantically. Moving in closer, Klaus smiled when a communique from Chancellor Häussler popped up on the screen. Scanning the message, Klaus' body seemed to relax, freeing the built up stress that had mounted ever since the threat of nuclear annihilation. Of course, there was still that inkling feeling that such a thing could still happen. Striding out of the communications room, he burst into the planning chamber, disturbing a quiet conversation that his staff had been having. "We have received word from Spektronia. It seems that no one is launching or preparing missiles, and he has invited me and the Kaiser to New, er... New Fansburg, was it? For a conference." The officers glanced at each other.

The monarch paid them no mind and turned to his personal aide, Erwin Siemens. "Please have my private jet ready to fly to Neue Wien in a few hours, and from their to this New Fansberg." New Vienna was the provincial capitol of Capilean Arabia- annexed Yemen and Oman- and would be honored by the chance to host the Grand Duke; in addition, it was closest of all to Spektronian Afghanistan save for India, and Klaus had no desire to be in what was practically a war zone. He would leave tomorrow and spend the night in Neue Wien, and then resume travel early in the morning so as to arrive in New Fansburg just before noon. Siemens bowed and left the room swiftly. Turning to his generals, he issued a few indirect orders before leaving for the surface. "Tell General Fleischer* to be on alert, but for the time being to demobilize the nuclear arsenal. And take the rest of the country off alert. Dear God, I hope this will be averted."

Spektronian Embassy, Toad Town
The journey from the Palace to the embassy was rather fast and rushed - being part of the government meant they could speed as much as they liked and while they tried to be (reasonably) safe there was a strong sense of urgency seeing as their previous attempt was ignored and ultimately a failure

After their journey from the Imperial Palace to just outside the Spektronian embassy, both Regent Vince and Minister Kandi had finally arrived at their destination. Vince said to the minister: "Well, I certainly hope this works. If we're lucky, maybe they have gone and done the smart thing and figured this entire thing out on it's own, which would be pleasing to hear (and they would then recieve additional evidence stating the same thing). They both straightened their suits and other items before slowly opening the doors and exiting the car. They looked around in order to assess the general situation. It was good that there was little-to-no outright panic, either the people didn't care or they hadn't heard yet. It didn't particularly matter which, what mattered is that everything seemed to be fine.

They both slowly approached the door and knocked on it, hoping that someone would be there to open it. Luckily, someone was and they gracefully walked inside, up to the receptionist in the lobby. They calmly approached the desk / person and the Regent spoke up "Hello, I'm afraid that I must speak to the Spektronian ambassador immediately due to a rather urgent matter that has occured. I am the de-facto Head of State for the country and I can verify this if needed. Would you kindly allow that?"

Boer National Radio Office:

The National Radio Office was a dying company. It specialized in Radio Messages which are really out dated technology.

In reality, it was a secret front for Boer Intelligence Messages. Right now, the secret room was sending out Encripted Morse Code messages. To any listener, the irregular beeps would sound like static, but to someone who is given the Key to the message, they could make out the message inside.

This particluar Message was address to Eastern Afghanistan Government, telling them that The Traansval would assist them in their fight, and that they requested access for Boer Supply Planes to land at a predetermine location to send supplies such as, Small Artillery Guns, Small arms (Automatic Rifles, Carbines, Pistols, Machine Guns, and a few Anti-Material Rifles), Ammunition, and small amounts of Kevlar/Ceramic body armor for the Eastern Afghan Army.

15,000 "Volunteer Army" made up of Boer Commando's of the Foreign Service Division. These men, while not equipped with the same Armor as regular infantry, had Steel/Kevlar/Ceramic body armor protecting their Torso. But, most importantly, these men were absolute experts at fighting in Deserts and all kinds of Flatland's.

Another 300 Boer Purple Beret Special Forces were also apart of this troop access request, but instead of fighting they would gather intelligence in Western Afghanistan and train Eastern Afghan troops.

After the message was sent, the Boer's awaited the return message.

Vanaughet Base, Somewhere in the Bavarian Alps

Upon receiving messages from both the Chancellor and Klaus, the Kaiser was relieved to say the least, but also ordered the NAMDS systems to remain active for the time being. However he did get to work immediately drafting messages to both Klaus and the Chancellor:

[b]
From the Office of His Imperial and Royal Majesty

Chancellor,
I shall fly to Afghanistan immediately, though given the circumstances you will understand if I bring KSK agents along for security and have our airbases on the borders ready to deploy on a twelve second alert as it were. There we shall hammer out this situation and discover what has actually happened. Accompanying me will be a Marshal to represent the German Armed Forces, though he will arrive earlier than I. I trust you will make sure no news of this meeting leaks out. The three of us in one place, you understand is a sign for every terrorist in all our lands to take the opportunity.

Signed,
His Exalted and Revered Imperial and Royal Majesty, Wilhelm Augustus III, German Emperor and King of Prussia

That message was sent off right away as the Kaiser ordered two aircraft to be prepped for takeoff and his Royal Marshal be loaded onto one.

New Suraq

The Hauptmann just had to laugh at his statement before turning serious and gesturing towards his own twelve man guard and then towards the Afghan's. "How much would you be willing to bet my boys are better shots than those Afghan's. And eventually we could kill you, but lets not start any incidents now. Take the gunships, we're going back across the border. Have fun with the terrorists!" He walked towards one of the APC's laughing as his men loaded up and they drove off into the distance.

Neue (ignore the map it was a typo regarding "Neu") Fansberg

A black V-Tol escorted by two other gray V-Tols landed in perfect uniformity at the Neue Fansberg Airbase. This time, there was no crowd waiting for the Chancellor, only a small reception of officers and guards. The guards were the large signature Spektronian National Army Soldiers instead of Afghans and the officers were just standard Spektronian men and women. The officers saluted and chatted with the Chancellor, who wore a simple desert camouflage field uniform and a beret.

"Mr. Chancellor, sir! We have time yet before anyone arrives, but I would recommend to stay away from the public." Said one officer. The Chancellor nodded and thanked her for her concern. "Thank you. I think I'd like to tour the airbase. For about half an hour, he was shown around the airbase and met with several lower ranking soldiers, both Spektronian and Afghani. When he was done, he climbed into a tan truck and headed out while being escorted through the city to the capital building where he would meet with the Supreme Department Leader.

Shadan

(Sorry about the short post)
Askar(Private) Taahir Rahman- "There's city hall... You really think these disguises will work? I mean are they even going to let us in, like the Sheikh said they would?"

Breedmal e KanDak (Sargent Major) Yusri Bashir- "I don't see why they wouldn't. We look like West Afghani Colonial Soldiers- Wait!"

Rahman- "What is it sir?"

Bashir- "You see those tall soldiers in black?"

Rahman- "Yeah, over on the left?"

Bashir- "They're Spektronian Sturmkorps."

Rahman- SK!? What the hell are SK doing here? Who is this guy we're trying to kill?"

Bashir- "I don't know, but I have a bad feeling about this... Let's go. The rest of the squad will stay here while we plant the explosives."

The two disguised East Afghan soldiers walked around the bend to Shadan city hall, a three story brick European building. When getting closer, Bashir and Rahman became rather nervous about the giant SK troopers outside, in their black dress uniforms. Up close, the troopers practically stared into the souls and Bashir and Rahman wondered if the two officers could see through their disguises.

"Need something, soldier?" Asked one trooper in a deep and cold tone in Pashto with a German accent. "N-no, sir!" Replied Bashir. The two troopers got closer to Bashir and practically bent over to meet eye to eye with him. "You two must be here to pick up the letter for... You know who."

Bashir nodded hesitantly. "But who is this 'you know who?'" He asked. "The troopers looked back and forth at each other. "You know we're not allowed to reveal his identity. But he's been appropriately nicknamed, Der Metzger." Bashir took in the troopers words and continued to play along. "Right. Yeah that's all I knew him by. So he really commands the battle without even showing up to the line?" The troopers nodded. "He does. But you had better stop asking questions while you're ahead, soldier. Go ahead." They shooed Bashir and Rahman away into the building.

They made their way to the top floor eventually, passing Spektronian SK troopers on the way. "So many SK troopers..." Whispered Rahman. Outside the office, two more troopers stood at attention. "You're here for the letter?" Asked one and Bashir nodded. The troopers opened the doors and let them in. The office was rather nice, with a large wooden desk, a Spektronian Flag, a West Afghan flag and an SK flag behind it. There were three windows behind the desk that let in a lot of light from outside. On the desk was a picture of the Chancellor, a picture of Supreme Department Leader Selina Guttenberg, a picture of Leitermarschall Helmut Hilscher and a small pin inside a little glass display box. This pin was specifically for those who served in the Grand Duchy of Nova Capile during the crisis.

No pictures of 'Der Metzger' seemed to be anywhere within the office. After a few seconds of searching, Bashir gave up on looking. A knock on the door came and a voice from one of the troopers came into the room. "It's on the desk, right by the computer." Bashir almost jumped from being startled by this. "Th-Thank you, sir!" He said. Rahman took off his shirt to reveal what looked like a suicide vest. He took the explosives off of the vest and planted them under the desk and behind the door. While Rahman planted the explosives under the desk, Bashir watched out the window for anything.

Suddenly, a stone cold voice filled the room. Not Bashir's Rahman's or the Troopers, but from someone else. "Need some help there?' It said. Rahman almost screamed and he bumped his head and Bashir spun around to see three men. Two were the Troopers from outside. The other was a rather tall man, almost as tall as the Troopers. The first thing one notices about the man was his strange white mask, with only one eye hole. He wore a black turtleneck military sweater with an SK patch on his chest and cargo pants with combat boots. This uniform was certainly in violation of regulation, but it mattered little.

"Arrest them." Said the man as he stood up while the troopers each hit Bashir and Rahman over the head with their G36s, then handcuffing the two infiltrators as they lie unconscious.

As the two awoke, they realized that they were both tied to a large wooden pole on a platform in front of hundreds of people. On the platform was a camera on a tripod. as well as a few SK and Afghan officers conversing with the masked man. Out, below the platform, in front of the crowd, Afghan Colonial Soldiers guarded the rails that were set up, to make sure nobody got over. Der Metzger turned to the two and touched their faces, getting a closer look at them. "Poor things..." He turned around to the camera. "Start the film!"

The men behind the camera began doing a countdown with his fingers. When he reached one, a red light switched on. Der Metzger stood infront of it and fixed his sweater's collar. For some around the world and in Spektronia, his voice seemed oddly familliar to some who had been in the Nova Capile Crisis, especially the German Abwehr. "A message, to all who would oppose the expansion of Spektronia's might into Afghanistan and to the sub-human dogs at the APCAI! You will not succeed in your pathetic attempts to sway this battle or this war! You will find only death and horror among you and your people! President Karimi! Your time will come, just as these insurgents times have come! You think you can kill Der Metzger!? No... No... No... Der Metzger will kill you before you can even blink!" He signaled for an Afghan Colonial Soldier. The Soldier then quickly moved over to Der Metzger and handed him the same explosive that was planted in his office. Der Metzger showed it to the camera and planted it on the pole, in between the heads of Bashir and Rahman, who tried to struggle, but with no result. He grabbed the detonator as the camera crew and the rest of the people on the stage cleared off. The camera was pointed upwards at Rahman and Bashir. "You will behead our people? We will give no less to yours!" Der Metzger pulled the trigger on the detonator and the upper bodies of Bashir and Rahman instantly turned into ground meat as their insides splattered over the stage during in the explosion. The transmission was then ended and was broadcast on open channels for all to view.

Journal of Colonel Fedor Ivanovitch Kyonev, Ground Forces of the Russian Socialist Federation

It was six months past since the operation to liberate Afghanistan was put into the making and the troops began assembling on the borders. Then again it was also six months past since the December Elections which effectively turned the United World Federation into the People's World Union, a socialist superstate. Though it seems only yesterday that Fedor was back in Vladivostok, teaching his son Felix to ride a bicycle, rather than conducting exercises in the deserts of China these past five months. Time does fly when your busy, it stagnates when the hands are idle. Fedor suspected he wouldn't have idle hands for quite a while now though. In fact his hands would be very busy with the art of warfare. It was an art he was less inclined to prefer but it was an art he must conduct none the less.

Fedor was formerly part of the Ground Forces of the United States of Russia in the recent World War that raged from 2008 to 2014 and saw the UWF fail to wrestle dominance from the German's. Fedor's grandfather had fought the German's in the 80's back when the USSR still existed, though he died at the gates of Moscow. Now though they weren't fighting German's but Spektronian's. Either way they were all imperialist scum.

At this moment, on both the Pakistani and Chinese borders, thousands of troops were preparing to cross into Badakhshan Province and liberate it from the maniacal grip of the East Afghan terror forces. These troops consisted of mainly Russian, Chinese, Pakistani, and Indian forces. This did not mean Spektronia would be spared the wrath of the People's Union, for on the other side, on the Iranian border, were thousands of troops from Iran, Iraq, Turkey, Egypt, and Syria. European and American troops would be flying in once the ground forces had made some headway. The attacks would each commence with en masse air strikes since these border groups had some old Soviet equipment, no armor but some vehicles.

Fedor looked down at his watch, as he sat in the Commander's seat of his T-14 Main Battle Tank, waiting for the call to arms. The attack should be starting soon and this was evidenced when the loudspeakers in the border camps came on with the voice of Anatoly Karin, the Chancellor of the People's Union. Every ear was at his call now. His deep voice rang across the plain's and Fedor was sure they could hear him as far as Kunduz Province.

"Soldier's and Citizen's of our great People's Union. It is good to see you all here today." Fedor scoffed at that, Karin was back in Paris. "But it will be even better to see you breaking through those walls into the oppressed lands of Afghanistan!" The sounds of cheers could be heard across the border as the troops were roused by the speech.

"Those imperialist dogs thought they could bully us into submission! That we would give out and fall! But today we'll show those dogs how to fight! Today we show them that our soldiers bow to no one! Today, we'll show them the might of the People's Union!" Cheers and thunderous applause could be heard along the border. Fedor sighed however and simply waited for the coming battle. Using his binocular's he could see some ragged looking Afghan militia characters watching with interest.

Then he heard the roar of engines and looked up to see seven Tu-95 Strategic Bombers in a row moving over the border, dropping their bombs as they went. Thousands of pounds of ordinance were now exploding on the Afghan side of the border as Mig-29's and Su-27's commenced ground strikes on known local outposts. Such scenes were not however occurring on the Iranian-Spektronian border since that was waiting for the forces in the East to advance and draw attention.

Five minutes later Fedor was over the border and in Afghanistan.

Tel Khanad, East Afghanistan
August 5

"It's really quite simple," replied Markos. "The Spektronians are already a little too close for comfort to our borders, as are their allies, the Capilians. We'd like to see the Middle East freed from their rule, before their guns are turned upon us. In the future, we may send expeditionary forces to help more directly. For now, arms will have to do. I'd like to send more, but the Parliament and Assembly still haven't decided to put full faith in your forces." He paused for a moment, pensive. "I suppose if your forces performed well against the Spektronians, there would be more faith among the government in your cause." He didn't mention the part where they were actively trying to destabilize neighboring countries for future conquest. It seemed like that wouldn't go over well with these guys, being rather fierce nationalists. He'd been shot at enough the last few years.

Normally, you would be right in saying that we would remain neutral, supporting neither side. But due to the Spektronians being Imperialist Fascists who wish to conquer
and control all, they must be stopped.

I do not know if we mentioned this in our last message, but along with our Military support we have a huge surplus of modern weapons that would help you greatly.

Vince had a very grave, serious look on his face when he began speaking to the Ambassador. He said "Mr Ambassador, I am aware that recently your government detected nuclear launches and as such have entered a very high, dangerous state of readiness and even declared war. I have urgently come to explain that this is not the correct course of action. I can say this because a while ago, our Intelligence people detected some very unusual network traffic headed for both Germany, Nova Capile and Spektronia itself. We did not have any idea what it was for but we thought it could be a possible cyberattack considering the current conflict. Our suspicions were confirmed when we saw that all targeted countries detected nuclear launches and immediately prepared for conflict. Should you wish to find out more, I advise you read and forward this document I am holding.' and passted Mr. Hopson a copy of the report titled 'NETWORK REPORT - POSSIBLE CYBERATTACK?'

Neue Wien, Capilean Yemen

Grand Duke Klaus looked down on the bustling city of New Vienna from the rooftop of the Seascape Resort, a coastal luxury hotel generally agreed to be the nicest in Capilean Arabia. An attendant had brought him a steaming mug of coffee, and so now Klaus sat sipping his drink and watching the cars zoom by. He was excited and yet also nervous for the meeting tomorrow. "I really should get to bed soon," he thought. "I need to be well rested tomorrow." The elevator behind him dinged, but Klaus did not turn. "I'm fine, thank you," he said, thinking that the attendant had come to offer him something. He heard nothing in response. The Grand Duke turned around in his seat, but before he could see who was there a loud gunshot rang out and a bullet hit him in the chest. Clutching at his wound as the stinging pain tore at him, Klaus fell to the floor. He heard frantic shouts in both German and Arabic and more gunshots before everything went black...

Klaus awakened the next day to the faint beeping of hospital machinery. He could see his family gathered around the hospital bed, and their joyful expressions when he stirred. "I'm so glad you're up, father," Hans said. "What happened?" the Grand Duke croaked, soaking in the dreary hospital room. "You were shot by an Arab militant," Hans answered, his face hardening in anger and disgust. "Luckily the nut was shot and killed by the Royal Guard, and we were able to get you to the hospital in time. The bullet was lodged just past your heart. It was a miracle that you survived, father." "Indeed it is. Oh dear." Klaus sat up, and Hans adjusted the fluffy pillow behind him to support the feeble monarch. "The city has been placed under martial law, and the police have already begun investigations into the plot," the Crown Prince continued, sitting down in an adjacent chair.

"Where is your mother?" Klaus asked, noticing that his spouse was not in the room. "She is stricken with grief, and went to rest. She should awake in a few hours, and then we can tell her the good news." The Grand Duke nodded. Suddenly there was a sharp rap at the door. It was opened, and the Captain of the Royal Guard, Ernst Outman entered. Outman was a good friend of Klaus, and had accompanied him on the travel. He was a heavyset older man with a gaunt face and a thick grey mustache. He saluted, and then asked if he could be alone with the Grand Duke for a few minutes. Reluctantly everyone else left, and Ernst knelt beside Klaus. Today his face was even more somber than usual, his eyes sunken and unfocused. "Mein Herzog," he began, "I have failed." A sharp look of alarm crossed Klaus' face. He opened his mouth to speak, but Ernst raised his hand. "Please, let me continue.

"I have failed to protect you. It is a breach of honor and loyalty. Therefor, I must commit selbstmord." "No!" Klaus shouted, his face turning red. "I cannot-" "This is my decision!" Outman snapped, standing. "I have failed, and I must suffer the consequences. When we return from the peace conference, I will commit the ritual." Klaus spoke after him, but the man turned and left, resigned to his punishment.

Where is the treasure-giver? Where are the seats at the feast?
Where are the revels in the hall?
Alas for the bright cup! Alas for the mailed warrior!

Luftwaffe X, 45,000 Feet Altitude
Passing over Port of Suez, Egypt

Hans Günsche, Hauptmann (Captain) Hans Günsche, kept one eye trained on the man whom was both his charge and his commander at all times. If it came to it, the man he was watching would become his target.

Hans entered the service of the Wehrmacht at age eighteen in 1994, serving with distinction during the Pacific War between the People's Republic of China and the German Empire (1998-2002) and later was noted for valor as part of the German contingent that joined the hunt for Al-Qaeda. In 2009, the KSK inducted him into their ranks but he also was among a number of volunteers for an off-the books genetic enhancement project being conducted by KTI and the KSK. He came out of it considerably stronger, faster, more agile, and even more loyal, also more frightening.

Hans somewhat ruffled-style brown hair had turned a snowy white, his eyes from green to crimson, his skin became even more pale. He also grew from five foot eleven to six foot four with a physique that would make most bodybuilders jealous. The chemical enhancements had bonded with his blood properly enough to both increase his physical abilities and not kill him. That was what the scientists had said, they also said he was among a scant few who survived the test. To avoid scaring people more than was necessary, Hans wore colored contacts to make his eyes appear a reddish brown but that was the extent of his ability to conceal his appearance.

When the ICC began looking at KTI, first about the K-Gas incident in Columbia and then when Wolfgang von Kaizer vanished, the program, codenamed "Werewolf" was among those shut down and buried since they had broken countless human rights laws in the process of their work. By this time Kaiser Wilhelm came to power and instead of having all the enhanced soldiers created by the program killed so as to cover up the project, he did something else entirely. He created the Werewolf Unit inside the KSK, another team of agents whom simply ceased to exist or having ever existed. Hans and eleven other men plus three woman made up the unit, which was at the personal command of the Kaiser himself. Hans was named commander for the group and they were equipped with the best gear that could be designed with current technology, some of it experimental.

As soon as Friedrich transformation into Lothar began, the Werewolf Unit was read-in on the project and assigned as the reprogrammed man's watchdogs as it were. While Lothar remained loyal to His Majesty, the orders he issued would be followed, but if he exhibited any tangible signs of reverting back to his old self or reclaiming his memory, they were to eliminate him quickly and quietly. That was why Hans kept a steely gaze on the man whom sat now in a comfortable seat playing a game of chess with Oskar, the units computer expert. He was always thinking in the back of his mind about events that could cause the former Emperor to return to his persona and how likely they were to occur. Considering he had met almost his entire set of siblings in one go and remained as he was, it was safe to say none of the House of Wilauhf members in Capile would bring back memories.

As the stoic man sat in a chair silently observing their commander, he felt the weight of the cushion shift ever so slightly as Natasha Grubunerov, one of only two team members whom was born outside Germany Proper, sat down next to him holding a tablet. "Report." At that one word she was off.

"Abwehr contacts in Yemen have reported that Grand Duke Klaus was apparently shot on the rooftop of a resort and is currently being treated. There's something else." Hans perked an ear her way as he kept listening.

"There's chatter back at both KSK and Abwehr HQ that it was a black operations attempt to take Klaus out of the picture. They suspect our crowd the KSK." Hans wasn't surprised, when the Capilean Grand Duke Hans died, the German government as a whole was less than confident in Klaus's abilities as a leader. It was only a matter of time before black budget operations took over instead of a lack in confidence. But with the Nuclear threat, time tables may have been accelerated. The Kaiser likely hadn't sanctioned it but General Wagner, the Director of the KSK was known for avoiding the regular chain of command. Including the Kaiser himself.

"It is also said that People's Union forces may have entered Afghanistan so His Imperial Majesty has opted not to attend so as to be present for the battleplans against the Union as a counter should they attack German territory. Therefore Imperial Marshal Lothar shall represent Germany."

Neue Wien, Capilean Yemen

After enduring the many sincere apologies of the portly Capilean governor and his many underlings, who were obviously scared not only for their jobs but for their lives, Klaus boarded the private jet heading for Neue Fansburg. He walked up the boarding ramp of the plane smiling and waving for photographers, who were here to capture their leaders triumphant rise just a day after the shooting. Despite the painful surges in his chest, Klaus had insisted on traveling, as much as to get to Neue Fansberg on time as to make a statement. Klaus had always considered himself punctual, and he would hate to be late for the conference, even if he had a good excuse. The plane ride was made carefree by liberal use of painkillers, and in what seemed to be record time the jet was descending on the East Afghan city that was to hold peace talks.

The small but burgeoning airport was receptive for Klaus, and he was pleased to see that the Spektronians had arranged for a transport for him and his staff. By the time the the medicinal drugs wore off, Klaus was glum. The threat of selbstmord still hung heavy over the Grand Duke's shoulders, and on top of that he was busy preparing for the conference. He spent the ride reviewing the many papers and files he had brought with him, helped along by a nervous aide. Klaus just hoped that Adolf would be the supportive friend that had departed Saxtonberg a day after Hans' funeral, rather than a keen enemy.

Stoßschutz Headquarters, Colditz Castle, North-Eastern District

Inspector Paul Körver wrinkled his nose at the thick smell of dust as he entered the real Colditz Castle. That grand building in Colditz that some foreign eccentric had turned into a museum was a fake, although many historic items were housed there. It had been built in 1914, before the war when property was cheap, by the von Tirptiz', who wanted another summer home for their brood. They found the new place quite better than this relic, and gradually it became their home. Eventually the public was made to believe that it was the original castle, built in 1880 shortly after the founding of Colditz, and this out-of-the-way place became abandoned. Which made it the perfect headquarters for the Stoßschutz to set up shop. The Inspector craned his neck to take in the entrance hall. Bulky cobblestones made up the walls, while a musty, elaborate carpet covered the floor. A chandelier reached down from the ceiling, barely illuminating the large room.

Harsh whispers could be heard, drifting around and bouncing off the high ceilings and walls. A look down the two parallel corridors to Körver's left and right revealed a number of Stoßschutz officers, clad in black trench coats and peaked caps, smoking and laughing softly among themselves. Grimacing, the Inspector continued through the hall, took a left and ascended the rough marble staircase, his footsteps echoing and drawing the intense gazes of Paul's colleagues. He reached the second level and, taking a deep breath, tore open the heavy wooden door in front of him. Inside a decorated officer had been talking to a table of his subordinates, but stopped and stared at Paul instead. "Inspector Körver," he began in a heavy Austrian accent, "I am pleased that you have finally decided to show up. Unfortunately, you have missed the first part of the briefing."

Paul saluted, waiting for Chief Inspector Ganz to return the gesture before seating himself and responding. "Please accept my most humble apologies, herr Inspector. The trains were off schedule, and my car is in the shop." A few of the other men at the table sneered at him, but Ganz launched back into his lecture. "Now, Inspector Körver, I will give you a brief summary of what was already discussed. As you already know, this meeting concerns the recent assassination attempt on the his majesty Klaus. We have reason to believe that a foreign party was responsible." Paul leaned back in his chair and wrinkled his forehead, deep in thought. "Now, I elaborated much further with these gentlemen, but now we will discuss information none of you has heard. First, who we believe is responsible-" "Couldn't it be as plain as the police decided, that an Arab militant was behind the attack?" Körver interrupted.

Ganz narrowed his eyes and scowled. "I will ask you not to interrupt me!" he snapped. "We have already discussed this. Of course it is a possibility, but our job is to look beyond the blatant, obvious suspects! Now, if Inspector Körver will allow me to continue, I will name the key suspects." Paul looked at his feet, trying to keep his cheeks from turning pink in embarrassment. This was his first day as Inspector, he was a rookie, and he had been humiliated. Attendants began passing out thick manilla folders to each of the men as the Chief Inspector continued his speech. "'Cui bono, who benefits?', as Cicero said. There are many who would benefit from the removal of the Grand Duke. Obviously the Duchy has many enemies, but chief among our suspects are our own allies and countrymen.

"Many traitors to the crown view our current, glorious ruler as weak, and would very much like to replace him with a more 'suitable' member of the Royal Family. Among these are notable members of the aristocracy, military and government. In addition, Spektronia and the Reich are likely to have perpetuated the attack. Personally I doubt the Spektronian chancellor would do such a thing, especially with his close relationship to Klaus. However, the Germans are not as friendly- we are allies to be sure, but I wouldn't put it past them to organize a terror attack on Klaus in order to put a German puppet on the throne." Ganz scanned the room with his keen, hooded brown eyes. "You have all been given special assignments, and teams to help you with these assignments. You will all be dispatched around the world, and we will meet once a month to keep track of your findings. Alert me if you find anything incriminating or especially essential. Everything you need to know is in those folders, but if you have questions ask me after the meeting. Dismissed."

Paul opened his folder and looked down on the first page. In black, bold letters it read:
Körver: Berlin
Capilean News (Updated 16 November)
Where is the horse gone? Where the warrior?
Where is the treasure-giver? Where are the seats at the feast?
Where are the revels in the hall?
Alas for the bright cup! Alas for the mailed warrior!
Alas for the splendour of the prince!
How that time has passed away, dark under the cover of night, as if it never were.

Neue Fansberg

The Chancellor had been chatting with Supreme Department Leader Guttenberg for roughly half an hour. Selina was hand picked by the Chancellor himself to lead the operation in Afghanistan. She was well trusted by the SK since she was an accomplished Generaloberst of the SK and since she was the sister of the well-respected and feared Oberführer Florian Guttenberg, who was viewed as a hero who gave his life for his country, due to the lack of information released about his death and since the investigation of his death had been called off once it was under the radar. Rumors had been circulating lately on his death. Most believed he was killed by Capilean rebels during the Nova Capile Crisis. Some among the Geheime Staatspolizei (Secret Police) believed that he was killed by Germans. This notion was quickly taken care of as to not slander the Germans whom are allies of Spektronia, excluding the situation with the nuclear threat. There was even one rumor going around the SK that Florian was still alive. Could this rumor be true? Could the Butcher of Raus, as the Germans like to call him, still be loose?

In the background of Selina and Adolf's meeting the TV was playing and could vaguely be heard saying, "In other news, a team of surgeons found dead in Spektronian Mozambique..." Suddenly a knock came on the door to the office and Selina told the person to enter.

Man who entered- "Mr. Chancellor sir! Madam Supreme Department Leader! Spektronian Intelligence in Yemen has just confirmed an assassination attempt on Grand Duke Klaus Wilhelm's life!"

Adolf- "What!? Is he alive!?"

Selina- "Who did this!?"

Man- "He's alive, sir. We have informants giving us constant updates on the situation. He's actually on his way here as we speak. It appears that an Arab man somehow infiltrated the Grand Duke's safe house. He took the elevator up and just shot the Grand Duke. The man was dealt with by Royal Guards rather... quickly and efficiently."

Selina- "And how do we know so much about this?"

Adolf- "Selina, let's just say that the Capileans aren't the only ones' interested in making sure the Grand Duke is safe. Now, have the Suraqi Special Guard secured the city?"

The Suraqi Special Guard were a few battalions of elite guards gifted by President Abdul Hakeem al-Bashir to Spektronia to serve as honorary guards for special events and parades in Spektronian Afghanistan, though they had little use except on ceremonial purpose since some hand picked SK were the true elite guards of Selina and the capital building.

Man- "Yes sir. We'll not have a repeat of Yemen. I take it you want this information regarding the Grand Duke to remain confidential, Herr Kanzler?"

Adolf- "Of course. We'll not have a repeat of Yemen here in my land-"

The Chancellor was interrupted by another harsh knock on the door. He sighed, wondering who it could be now. He took off his black beret and wiped his forehead. "Come in!" Two men walked in briskly. One was a white man in a gray Spektronian National Army dress uniform with a cap at his side, and the other was a Middle-Eastern man in a Colonial Afghani Army Officer's dress uniform with a beret on. The Spektronian extended his arm outwards in salute while the Afghan did the standard salute towards his forehead.

Spektronian Officer- "Herr Kanzler, sir! Generalleutnant Friedrich Schreiber of the National Army, Kolonial Korps, Second Infanterie-Aufteilung."

Afghan Officer- "Toran Genraal Kasib Al Safi Najjar, West Afghan Colonial Army, First Infantry Division."

Adolf- "How can I help you, generals?"

Friedrich- "Suraqi Special forces as well as Spektronian Intelligence has confirmed that People's World Union forces have entered East Afghanistan, the Tabasta Region."

Adolf and Selina simultaneously- "What!?"

Adolf- "There are Suraqi special forces there undercover, yes?"

Kasib- "Yes, Mr. Chancellor. They have already reported back to us and President al-Bashir. The East Afghans are already mobilizing their forces in the region as well as having taken troops off of the lines in Al-Wabuk and nearly all troops in the Dilayn region. Our agents inside of the APCAI have reported that word of the invasion has spread to them. They have already been in contact with General Karimi and Karimi has given them permission to fight alongside his own soldiers. Karimi has no shame in associating himself with terrorists."

Selina- "For he is nothing above those animals."

Adolf- "Now, Selina. We have a common enemy here with the East. The People's Union obviously wishes to turn on us if they do succeed in taking control of the East. Alliance between Spektronia and East Afghanistan is out of the question, but between the Suraqi special forces in the area and the East, is not. Though Suraq supports our war efforts, they are more sympathetic with the Easterners than I consider ourselves, them being fellow Middle-Easterners and all."

Selina- "I see your point sir. The East also doesn't know that it was the Suraqis that assassinated President Ghani, which is beneficial to us. This also presents an opportunity for our further advancement. If enemy soldiers have been pulled out of the battle in Al-Wabuk, we could probably easily brush away the remaining resistance in the region, which would open a route up to Tel Khandad, where we could wipe out the APCAI sub-humans and advance further into the East."

Friedrich- "That is very true. Our forces are already making progress in the region since the withdrawal of East Afghan troops. How do we plan to use the Suraqis if they only have some special forces in the region, but no significant numbers of troops from the Suraqi Arab Army?"

Adolf- "Easy. They reach out to Karimi, pointing out the inexperience of his officers and commanders. The men commanding the Suraqi special forces are highly skilled and very experienced. If the East wants to keep its' capital from the People's Union and survive another day, they will make use of the Suraqis."

Neue Fansberg Airport

An entire runway had been cleared from the public eyes just for the Grand Duke's arrival. The Chancellor didn't want anyone knowing that the Grand Duke of Nova Capile was inside West Afghanistan, for multiple reasons. One was to prevent any APCAI attacks on the Grand Duke, another was to prevent any West Afghans or Spektronians from attacking the Grand Duke, due to the declaration of war against the Grand Duchy.

When Klaus's private jet touched down, the runway was crawling with Secret Police in their black suits, sunglasses, red ties and the Spektronian Conservative-Fascist Party symbols on their arm bands. Most of the Secret Police were armed with concealed FN Five Sevens. A few of them had HK MP7s in their grasps, just for added security. Where the jet landed, there were two rows of Secret Police who stood at attention, saluting outward, making a path for the Grand Duke to the limo. In front and in the back of the limo were two BTRs for protection.

In the center of the path formed for the Grand Duke stood a man in a gray suit, with a Conservative-Fascist Party arm band on his arm, similar to the Secret Police. When the Grand Duke had reached him, the man bowed and extended his hand and shook the Grand Duke's hand. "I am Head Work Leader Heinrich Eadel, here to escort you to the capital building for your meeting, your majesty." He began to head towards the limo with Klaus and let the Grand Duke in first, then getting in himself as a Secret Policeman shut the door behind them and the convoy was off.

"I actually knew your father, General Nemetz as well as a few other officials from the Grand Duchy. I was just a standard Work Leader back then. I serve the same way as I have in the past. When your father visited Spektronia in celebration of our victory in Ethiopia. I was the reception for your father, just as I am for you. Of course it is my honor, your majesty, but I just wish I could greet you under better circumstances, considering our state of war against the Grand Duchy... But, rest assured, this is standard procedure in the case of an definite nuclear threat in Spektronia. This plan and protocol has been in place for nearly thirty years now. The Chancellor still thinks very highly of you and your nation and her colonies, which we have fought valiantly to preserve and protect on multiple occasions."

Throughout the ride, the streets had been shut down from the public as to further insure the safety of the Grand Duke. Suraqi Special Guards stood on every street corner and at every barricade in their tan dress uniforms and tall hats. There was also the occasional Spektronian National Army Soldier accompanying the Suraqi Special Guards. This area was close to the capital building, so there weren't any sky scrapers nearby, only toward the outer city.

NMK, Spektronian Embassy

The ambassador was surprised to hear this from the Regent, as he had expected the NMK to stay out of this one. "Well, Mr. Regent... That is protocol when a definite nuclear threat is directed at Spektronia. The first course of action is the adjustment of the Nuclear Threat Level to one and then, followed by declarations of war just in case Spektronian troops have to kill foreign troops. If we don't declare war, then if something goes wrong, it could be mis-classified as an act of aggression without a declaration of war." He took the folder and skimmed through a few pages. "Well, we've been looking into the possible threat of a cyber attack. We noticed a split second of inactivity with our nuclear detection equipment when we reviewed the data files from them. This will surely help, Mr. Regent. I'll be sure this gets to the Nuclear Intelligence Division immediately, Mr. Regent. No doubt the Chancellor will find this most resourceful."

Tel Khanda

"Ah, well your cause is just, your justification smart and your heart true, I can tell. Your assistance is greatly appreciated by our people. It will not be forgotten, I can assure you." A militant handed Tazir a small paper. "Ah, well, gentlemen, I hate to do this to guests, but I really must leave. There are... Important people waiting to meet with me. Remember, if you ever need anything in return from us, do not be afraid to come straight to our city and ask. You're welcome to stay as long as you like." Tazir got back in his van and the convoy was off as the militants went back to their positions, except for the ones who dragged away the crates.

Shiyya

From: President Sher Mohammad Karimi of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan

To: Boer National Radio Office

Encryption: Extreme

If the case is such, then we happily accept your support in this war. Afghanistan has survived against colonialists and other harsher things in the past, and we will continue to not only survive, but thrive as a sovereign and truly holy land. Again, this assistance is truly appreciated. Due to the ongoing invasion of the Tabasta Province, I would please ask that the arrival of these forces be re-located to Tel Kefar, Dilayn Province.

After sending this message inside of his office, President Karimi's desk phone rang and he picked it up. After listening, he responded. "Yes, I'm expecting him. Let him up." A few seconds later, after Karimi had fixed up his office a bit, the knock came upon his door. "Enter!" A guard opened the door and an Arab man in a Suraqi Special Forces field uniform entered. Karimi knew how to speak Arabic, so he greeted the officer in his native tongue.

Karimi- "Welcome, I am President Sher Mohammad Karimi of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan." They shook hands.

Suraqi- "Khaalid Taheri, Suraqi Special Forces."

Karimi- "Please, sit." Karimi took his seat behind his desk and Taheri sat in front.

Taheri- "Thank you, Mr. President."

Karimi- "Now, let's get right to the point. Why has my enemy requested to meet with me in such a dire time?"

Taheri- "For your temporary survival. It is in the interest of nobody here, that the People's Union gains a foothold in Afghanistan, East or West. Especially in your capital. My president has requested a temporary alliance with you as to fight off these invaders from your lands."

Karimi- "An alliance with those who we are at war with? With those who fight alongside the Spektronians to take our own ancestral land for their own personal exploits? I think not."

Taheri- "Well we can get you to cooperate the easy way or the hard way. I think I'll try the easy way first. Now, the Suraqi commanders in the area, who's locations are confidential, are far more experienced than even some of the Generals you have planning this battle for you. You cannot argue with that."

Karimi- "Maybe so, but we have overcome worse odds with far less manpower in the past."

Taheri- "Which brings up another point I'd like to make. Your man power. The total forces you have accumulated, including APCAI militants has come to about 12,000. You've even had to withdraw troops from battles with Spektronia to come back here. The Union forces have come to about 20,000. You have no chance of using the 12,000 effectively without experienced commanders, like us."

Karimi- "I suppose that's true... But what is this hard way you spoke of?"

Taheri- "Suraqi Special forces will overthrow you within a few nights."

Karimi- "Why I- I mean... Now that I think of it, perhaps this does present an opportunity to preserve my nation and my people. Fine. You and your peers get out there and my men will take command from them. I had better be correct in putting my trust in you, Colonel."

Taheri- "Well I'm glad we could come to a conclusion, Mr. President. All Suraqi forces will cease engagement of East Afghan forces until further notice. I expect the same of your troops."

Karimi- "Of course. Is there anything you can do about the Spektronians?"

Taheri- "We've already tried. I'm afraid they just won't cooperate."

Karimi- "Damn it. Well, thank you, again."

Taheri- "Of course, General."

The two shook hands and Taheri exited the room to be transported to the mountains in the North along with his officers and forces, where they would meet up with the troops already stationed there, whom they would normally call their enemies. The Suraqi Special Forces would serve as the elite forces while the APCAI and the Easterners would do most of the work.

To the North, General Alik Wyaid of the Afghan National Army was the man preparing his troops for the oncoming invasion. He gave a long speech to his men and the APCAI about preserving their homeland and tradition. On one side of a mountain, where the Union forces would try to attack head on, the Afghans took positions in left over bunkers from the Soviet's invasion. Artillery and mortar positions had been set up as well as a few self-propelled rockets had been set up, though the rockets seemed just a bit out of date. General Wyaid had received word that the Suraqis would be commanding the battle. At first, he was outraged out this, but realized his duty was to his people and he would do what was needed to protect them.

Private Ahmed and Iqal were two infantry men of the East Afghan army who had been selected for this battle. They chatted back and forth with each other at the concrete wall while the invaders were not in range yet.

Ahmed- "Are you nervous?"

Iqal- "No. Are you?"

Ahmed- "Yes... How come you're not?"

Iqal- "If I die, I'll be with Allah."

Ahmed- "Well that's noble. I'd like to think that too."

Iqal- "It's ridiculous that the Union is attacking us without even a declaration of war."

Ahmed- "Yeah, it really is. It's also ridiculous that they're attacking us in the first place. Shouldn't they be sympathizing with us since the Spektronians are Fascists?"

Iqal- "Don't think they don't want to go after those dogs as well. They just want us out of the way first."

Ahmed- ""It's stupid and even more ridiculous that they decided to attack us here in the mountains, especially with tanks."

Iqal- "They're just dumb. How did they think this would play out, attacking mountains with tanks that can't climb these slopes. Even if the tanks are just for self-propelled artillery and they do beat us here, how are they gonna get past the mountains? Plus there's not much cover out there. It's an open field for our artillery."

Ahmed- "How are their foot soldiers gonna get up here? Even if they have mountain climbing equipment, they'll be picked off by our snipers and MGs if they even get this close."

Suraqi Officer- "You two! Get on that MG! No slacking! This is your home you're defending, not social hour! They're just about in range for our artillery. When you get sight on their foot soldiers, let that thing rip!"

Ahmed- "Yes sir!"

The officer walks away to continue inspecting the line and Ahmed handles the turret while Iqal handles the ammo.

Iqal- "The Arabs treat us sub-continentals like shit. They have no respect for us. Especially those Suraqis."

Ahmed- "I can't believe President Karimi let them control the battle I-"

Ahmed was cut off as the sirens went off and the enemy force could be seen tearing up dust in the distance. The artillery teams rushed to aim at the enemy. A Suraqi artillery officer was in charge of artillery, mortars and rockets. The rockets and the artillery immediately fired out into the distance, soon to rain hell down on the Union forces. The battle had officially begun.

Grand Duke Klaus smiled. "I am flattered that the Chancellor is concerned for my security. And I do hope my father left a good impression." The rest of the ride was silent, as Klaus poured through his files with occasional glances at the deserted city streets through the tinted windows of the vehicle. When the car finally arrived in front of the destination, Klaus sighed, said a cheerful goodbye to the Head Work Leader, and trooped up the steps of the handsome building.
Asking directions from a helpful secretary as his aides and security rushed in behind him, Klaus came to the door of the Chancellor's office with a cheerful expression plastered on his face. Rapping hard on the door, and waiting for the occupant to respond with a "Come in," Klaus swung it open and stepped inside. "Adolf!" the Grand Duke chirped, walking up to the Chancellor and extending his hand for a shake.

Berlin, German Reich

Inspector Paul Körver stepped into the bustling terminal of Berlin's airport, smiling as he soaked in his surroundings. He had never been to the Fatherland before. The flight from Colditz to Herzogberg in Ethiopia had been draining. Expecting a peaceful, sleep-filled trip, Paul had been jostled by the kicks of a toddler behind him, his ears pierced by the cries of a dozen infants, and had been annoyed beyond imagination by the full hour the plane had spent taxiing in the airport. Perhaps the Duchy needed to take a leaf out of China's book and limit each family to one child, instead of reward people for having seven or more brats. Körver had only just managed to make his connection, a flight to Rome. That was much better, mainly older tourists; the Inspector had actually been able to catch a few hours of shuteye.

When they had arrived, before schedule, Paul had had three hours before his flight so he stretched his legs, taking a short tour of the Eternal City and stopping for a wine tasting. It had actually been quite a relaxing experience. That would be his last in a while. Finally, the short trip from Italy to Berlin had been uneventful, and now he was here in the heart of Germany. So many people, all with their own stories. Pulling his suitcase behind him, Körver wound his way through the airport and managed to hail a taxi outside. Climbing in and telling the gruff driver to take him to the three-star hotel he'd rented a room in, Paul told himself to calm down, because he wouldn't be anywhere near calm in the next few days, weeks, or months.

Adolf had been talking on the phone with the Suraqi ambassador to Spektronia for a few minutes while Selina had been busy typing away on her i-pad back and forth with the Head Command Leader of the Spektronian Ministry of Agriculture regarding an issue in Motaq. Inside the office was a sitting area with brown leather furniture, where Adolf and Selina sat. Behind that, toward the bay window at the other end of the room, was Selina's desk. Throughout the office were pictures of Selina's supposedly dead brother, Florian. Every event in Florian's life, his birthdays, his enlistment into the National Army, his enlistment into the Sturm Korps, his wedding, award ceremonies and a few photos of his time in Nova Capile decorated the walls. The only thing missing was his funeral. It was said that Florian had been given a state funeral, but it was never aired on TV and was never spoken about among the members of the military or the government. Since Selina was a decorated officer of the National Army, maybe not as famous as her brother, who was in the SK, but still relevant, she had many awards framed around the room as well. Her flags behind her desk included the National Army flag as well as the Spektronian flag, the Spektronian Conservative-Fascist Party flag and the Colonial Afghan flag.

The business of Selina and Adolf was interrupted as an SK guard opened the door for the Grand Duke whom was expected. "Mr. Shahid, I hate to do this, but I absolutely must go. Alright. Goodbye." Adolf and Selina both rose from their seats to get up and greet Klaus. Selina wore her gray suit jacket while Adolf wore a Generalfeldmarschall of the Spektronian National Army's desert camo field uniform with a black beret. "Klaus! Glad to see you're doing well. I hope your trip here was... un-eventful." The two shook hands. "Ah, this is Leiter eines Hauptamtes and Generaloberst Selina Guttenberg. She's the one I'm sure you've heard so much about." She came forward to shake the Grand Duke's hand. "It's an honor, your Majesty. I know I've heard much about you." She laughed.

Vince smiled and said back to the Ambassador "I'm glad to provide useful information to you, especially since you are currently on the ledge of causing a nuclear firestorm. I don't particularly want to get involved in this conflict, but nuclear war should be avoided no matter what. The policy of neutrality stands. Pleasure talking to you, sir. He said "Sir, what about the other 2 countries that have taken rather severe actions also?" to which the response was "Well, those actions were likely caused by Spektronia moving first. They've made their bed, it's now time for them to lie in it and fix what they messed up. I do not want my hand to be forced again."

Neue Fansberg, Spektronian Afghanistan

Luftwaffe X came to a slow halt on the runway set aside for it though it was set aside on the belief that Kaiser Wilhelm was on the plane. Instead the man who exited the plane was someone quite different indeed. Though the guards that accompanied him were imposing enough to denote his importance. All fifteen of them, twelve men and three women, were clothed in pitch black combat armor with sidearms at their waists but they didn't seem like normal guards. For one all of them had platinum blond almost white hair and very pale skin, though a rather disturbing factor was their eyes. Every last one of them had crimson red eyes.

The man himself was not nearly as intimidating as his guards. Though few knew this man was in fact Friedrich la Germania, former Emperor of the Holy Germanic Empire which fought Prince-Marshal Wilhelm's German Confederation during the Civil War. The man was quite changed, largely in the fact that he was not dead as much of the world believed. Yet also, his once long-flowing golden blonde hair had turned a light black that had been shortened to stop at the back of his neck. His cerulean blue eyes had turned violet as well. Not to mention the fact he had lost several inches of height, now standing about 5'10 as opposed to 6'5 and his frame was a bit more lithe than it once was.

The man was dressed in a white uniform befitting of a man holding the rank of a Prince-Marshal but with no markers on it denoting royal status. As they approached the entourage sent to greet them, one of his guards, a six foot four well built man whose features seemed the most hardened of the group, stepped forward to make the introductions. "May I present, His Grace, Grand Duke Lothar dal Verannes, Marshal-Commanding of the Imperial Services to His Imperial Majesty. Personal Envoy of His Imperial and Royal Majesty, the German Emperor." His voice was deep and devoid of emotion, his eyes scanning each member of the group sent to greet them for any sign of a threat.

Now the Grand Duke spoke, in a voice much smoother and more warming. "His Majesty regrets he could not attend himself but urgent business came up. I would explain but it is classified and I am only permitted to discuss it with Grand Duke Klaus, the Chancellor, and other attendants to our conference."

Spektronia wrote:Neue Fansberg

Journal of Private Lien Hu, Artillery Gunner, Ground Forces of the People's Republic of China

"Get a move on Comrades! Our valiant troops are under heavy fire from enemy artillery! Let us show them that they are just as vulnerable!" Lien heard his Battery Commander, Owang Tengfen, shout as the gun crews manned the heavy cannon to be used to return fire to the enemy artillery. Well the Chinese brought stationary cannon that needed to be towed by vehicles, the Russian's had brought several batteries of the great 203mm 2S7 Pion Self-Propelled Guns plus several companies of standard artillery and SPG's. It was no competition whose guns had a bigger bark and a bigger bite.

Lien was a gunner for a 155mm Howitzer as part of the 171st Artillery Brigade which currently was setup on a hill that offered a field of fire of both the plains below and the mountains beyond. The Commander wasn't kidding when he said their advancing forces were under heavy artillery fire. The vehicles and infantry making their way towards the mountains were victim to shells bursting all around them including fragmentation shells bursting in the air. Lien felt angered at this loss of life on the part of his comrades, couldn't these Afghan's see the People's Union was attempting to free them from Capitalism, decadence, and false prophets such as God.

He put aside his opinion as he checked to make sure the shell was loaded properly. Their own artillery were positioned out of range of the regular artillery that the enemy was likely to have but rocket artillery could probably still hit them. The Pion guns didn't even have to be near the battlefield to provide their artillery support. Those long range cannon could fire across a distance of 37,500 meters. Their targets were within 3,000-7,000 meters of them so that would be a simple job for the guns.

Moments later, Commander Tengfen gave his orders. "Now Comrades! Let our guns, carrying the freedom and liberation of our socialist cause, answer their's! Fire!" Lien covered his ears as the big Howitzer fired along with the other twenty in the battery and the other two batteries with them. He looked up and within a minute or so, high explosive rounds began to detonate across the lower levels of the mountain fortifications they were advancing upon. A great thunder sounded from behind their lines and soon, sure enough, even heavier 203mm high explosive shells began bursting across the mountains and those defending them.

Now the enemy knew they weren't the only ones with artillery.

Journal of Colonel Fedor Ivanovitch Kyonev, Ground Forces of the Russian Socialist Federation

Fedor was keeping his head down as his tank and many others advanced across the expansive plains that bordered Pakistan and lead up to Afghani mountains. Despite the fact that local intelligence had already said there were no Afghani positions in this area, the mountains close to Pakistan, and several airborne teams had combed through the mountain passes they were to use with helicopter sweeps. He had been a tank commander too long to not be worried about sniper's just looking for a tank with an open cupola. So he kept his shut, and he noticed many other Russian tan commanders in their T-14's doing the same while the Chinese in their Type 99's were a bit more confident or foolish, your guess was as good as his, and kept the cupola opened.

While a good 60% of the main forces were moving against the mountainous Tibasta Province in the North, the remainder were instead using the mountain passes near the Pakistani border to penetrate deep into the Dilayn Province in the South with armored assets. If this was successful, then they could head North and cut off the enemy forces from their rear and smash them to pieces. As an addition they could hit troops moving up from Dilayn Province in an effort to reinforce positions to the North. To compensate for the imbalance in ground troops for this operation, the Pakistan based attack force received priority for Armored assets, Anti-Air, helicopter support, and airborne infantry. The forces attacking in the North were getting the majority of the Strategic Bomber's as their air support while the attack in the South was given priority for Close Air Support.

Soon enough they were coming up on several of the passes outlined on their maps. Command had been very methodical picking out which routes to take since not all of the mountain passes were wide enough the get a column of armored vehicles through. Though it seemed the ones they had picked were wide enough. Fedor allowed a ZSU-23-4 to proceed ahead of his tank and a Strela to follow after him. This was how it went; AA-Tank-AA-Tank-Tank then repeat. To cover them from the air, Mi-28 Helicopters flying in groups of two were roving above to make sure no Afghan's tried any funny business from up high in the hills.

The Office of the General Secretary of the Council of the People and Workers of the People's World Union

The following is a message from Comrade Anatoly Karin, General Secretary for the People and Worker's of the People's World Union to General Karimi of the East Afghan State

General,
On behalf of the People and Worker's of the world, and those in Afghanistan, I ask that you stand down and surrender. Do not proliferate the expansion of capitalism and decadence, for it shall only bring further suffering to those laboring under such a regime. Give up your faith in such false icons as God for God is a system created by the capitalists and imperialists to prevent the oppressed people's of the world from realizing their true strength and rising up against their slave drivers. We have come in liberation with the freedom of Socialism, instead you proliferate death by sending your men to die fighting an opponent superior to them. You understand General, that were we the beastly creatures that many describe us as, we would not have even entered your country. Our Russian, Chinese, and Pakistani Comrades could simply toss wave after wave of ballistic warheads over the border to pummel you into the ground. However, we are not beasts or slavers as the capitalists vainly portray us as, and we will not allow senseless loss of civilian life. If you surrender now, the sentence at your Tribunal before the Global People's Soviet will be less harsh than should you continue to waste lives to guard your own.
