The official language is Aelian, a Romance language closely related to Maltiv. Most also learn Latin in school, and Latin is still used on all official documents along with Aelian. Many also know Italian, English, French, Maltiv, Arabic, or Greek.

English is the official language and is the native language of over 93% of the population.

Other first languages include Spanish (4%), Cherokee (1%), and French (.5%), and a variety of minority languages spoken by immigrants.

[Fujisawan Territories]

The official Territorial languages are Fujisawan, Japanese and English. Due to the deep ties mainland Fujisawa shares with Korea, Korean was an official language historically, but was demoted to semi-official (cannot be used for state business) with the "Korean Language Act of 2012."

High school students in the Territories are required to be fluent speakers of all three official languages as a condition of graduating high school.

Our two official languages are Ruvian and English. Ruvian is our "native" language, it is the language almost every natural born citizen of Ru learns first and is understood pretty much universally in the empire. English is our official "trade" language, which we adopted due to it being widely understood by a huge portion of the international community and because it is surprisingly similar to Ruvian in terms of grammar and structure so it is (relatively) easier for us to learn then the romance languages and others. English language is a mandatory course starting in middle school and continuing on through high school, so most adult Ruvians can speak it proficiently and can be considered bilingual, unless they live in a remote area. So as long as they understand English, tourists can be sure that they will be able to understand and be understood by practically everyone and everything in Ru.

For the other languages of the Federation, the citizien can request in the Town Hall the translation of the document in the own language

[The Arthurian Isles]

The Arthurian Federation has three official languages: Arthurian, English and Arthurian Sign Language. It also has two official alphabets: the Latin Alphabet and Brail.

Arthurian is a modern Northern Germanic language derived from Ancient Arthurian, an insular Norse language which became a minority language in Arthuria in the late 9th century A.R. (18th century AD). Ancient Arthurian originated in the land that is now known as Crata. It was brought to the Arthurian Isles by the people of the same name as they migrated there in 0 A.R. (910 AD). The language is based entirely off of Icelandic and remained mostly unchanged as a result of perpetual geographical isolation until the arrival of foreign merchants and traders in the late 8th century and early 9th century A.R. (17th and 18th centuries AD). Their gradually increasing presence in the country had profound effects on Ancient Arthurian; as they primarily spoke Romance languages, Arthurian developed from its proto-Nordic roots to incorporate Latinate grammar and some of its word-roots. By the middle of the 10th century A.R. (19th century AD) English was commonly spoken in the more globally-connected cantons. The variations in the use of English throughout Arthuria necessitated a common language programme, which was implemented in the late 10th century A.R. (19th century AD). The Alting commissioned a newly-created language which incorporated a growing use of Latin grammar with the largely Germanic Arthurian vocabulary. Its principles were simplicity and consistency, in order that it would be easy for the Arthurian population to learn within a few generations as well as for foreign traders. Their creation became modern Arthurian.

It is an easy language to learn, using a combination of Danish and Icelandic vocabulary, free Latin word order and simplified grammatical rules. For example, verb conjugations do not exist in Arthurian - regardless of the person verb endings remain the same, only changing with the addition of fixed prefixes and auxiliary words to denote tenses. Adjectives have no need to agree with their noun and even pronouns do not have a gender. There is a clear distinction between inclusive and exclusive second-person plural pronouns and irregularities in grammar are avoided as much as possible. Despite being so easy to learn, Arthuria's small size and isolation from the rest of the world means that it is not spoken widely outside of its borders. In turn, this creates a distinctive Arthurian accent which is noticeable when speaking either Arthurian or English; its closest comparison is with Afrikaans's sharp nouns but there are also base elements of Norwegian. It is particularly deep in tone and melodic in its pentameter.

Around the same time that modern Arthurian was crafted, English became an official language after Arthurian and is now a second language for 82% of the population. These 82% can speak English to a 'very good level' at minimum; a quarter of them can speak English fluently. Numbers of fluent English-speakers are expected to rise as it has become a mandatory subject in schools since the 1090's A.R. (2000s AD). The intention behind having English as a second official language is to allow Arthurian businesses to operate more effectively throughout Noctur. This has proved very successful.

Arthurian Sign Language and Arthurian Brail were also made an official language and writing system respectively in 1082 A.R. The purpose of doing so was to spread awareness of the deaf and blind in Arthuria. Since their adoption the number of people adept at sign language has risen to 4.5% of the population. Brail is still only known by the blind, but it has begun to appear on more documents and public notifications since it was adopted as an official writing system.

In the Federation, Galactic Standard English (British English), is the most common language, but second to it is Mandarin, followed by Arabic and Hindi.

[Communal Ecotopia]

There are 23 official languages in Communal Ecotopia: Bulgarian, Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Estonian, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hungarian, Irish Gaelic, Italian, Latvian, Lithuanian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Slovak, Slovenian, Spanish, and Swedish. Subtracting Czech and the almost identical Slovak gives 22. Of these, English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Polish, Romanian, and Dutch are spoken by 5% or more of the population.

I'll come up with something more detailed in my Factbook at some point but the main language is Braecisc, a west Germanic language similar to old English.

In the north of the country, the majority language is Norðisc, a north Germanic language similar to Old Norse.

Celtisc or Glymraegic is the language spoken by some of the celtic population in the islands to the north east of the country.

English is a compulsory language taught in schools and is often used as a lingua-franca between the Braecs, Scandinavians and Celts living in the country.

[Yuzhnyy]

There are 3 official languages in Yuzhnyy, which are:

Yuzhnyyian: Yuzhnyyian is the only of the official languages that actually originated in Yuzhnyy, and is described by some as "A mixture of Russian, Ukrainian, and Belarusian, with notable Baltic [Lithuanian and Latvian] influences, and a few unique Slavic words mixed in." This, of course, is merely a generalization of the complex Yuzhnyyian language. The Yuzhnyyian language is spoken by 70% of the population.

Russian: After Yuzhnyyian independence in the 1900s, many Russian immigrants have come to Yuzhnyy. Russians currently make up 20% of the country.

English: Yuzhnyy also recieved various English settlers during the 1900s. While these minortities are virtually extinct today, the language has stuck around, becoming the lingua franca of Yuzhnyy, until the language was stomped on when the communist government came to power. 90% of the populace still knows the language, though only 5% speak it as their primary language.

Other languages comprise of 5% of the population.

[Ulan-Ata]

The Federation of Ulan-Ata is multilingual. The official languages are Serbian and Japanese. Recognized minority languages are Mongolian, Vietnamese, and Hungarian. If more immigrants come from neighboring nations, or parts of them even join the Federation, more languages might come up.
The exact distribution comes with the next census.
(English is not a standard subject in schools, but higher educated people do learn it.)

The official language in Thervingia is Gothic. No other languages have an official status, but the major minority languages here are Lithuanian and Russian.

[Imperium Sidhicum]

Sidh is obviously the universally-spoken language of the Imperium. Most Sidhae do speak at least one other foreign language, knowledge of many languages being considered a sign of refinement and deemed prestigious.

The most common choices are Mandarin and English, being the two most commonly spoken human languages. Since the majority of Sidhae serve in the military at some point during their lives, learning at least one human language is a must - the armed forces require the troops to study common human languages in order to be able to converse with prisoners and civilians in occupied areas, and read captured documents. Russian, Arabic, French, Japanese and German also rank as quite common.

Work in Urban and Domestic Security services also requires employees to study languages, at least on the worlds with human ghettos. While pointing a gun at a human usually tends to convey basic messages pretty well, it is obviously insufficient for more advanced communication such as interrogation - even when you have beaten the detainee to the point where he's willing to confess in having had sex with Virgin Mary herself, you still need to understand the gibberish he's screaming and begging in.

This is even more true for those Sidhae in the Order of Judicators, where the very nature of their jobs that often involves covert operations abroad requires them to speak fluently in many human languages.

Quite a few soldiers and Freelancers who trade outside the Imperium also study Skargh. Although this alien tongue is difficult to learn for humans and Sidhae due to anatomical differences that make proper pronunciation difficult (Skargh speech sounding pretty much like barely-articulate growling, snorting and hissing to the uninitiated), in the very least, a student of Skargh language should be able to understand what bloodthirsty god's name the Skargh warrior seeking to behead him is invoking. Fortunately, synchronous translators and vocal synthesizer implants have somewhat mitigated this communication problem.

[The United States of the South Pole]

Well, English is the National Language but our Schools also teach Chinese, German, and Spanish as a standard. Our Accent is a combination of a southern drawl and a Jamaican accent.

Japanese, Korean, and Mandarin are the most commonly spoken languages in our nation and practically all citizens can understand all three fluently. (Understandable since our territory consists of Japan, Korea, and Taiwan) All three languages have status as official languages.

In addition, Latin is recognized as an official language of our nation, albeit one that traditionally is only used for Mass. Although a slowly growing movement encouraging the usage of Latin in common speech, with around 8% of our nation now speaking it everyday in addition to our other languages and around 2% speaking it exclusively, in lieu of the other languages.

English is officially taught starting in elementary school here, although we're not very good at speaking it.

Any other foreign languages are only taught in optional classes in high school or college and are not commonly spoken.

[Barboneia]

Barboneia has two official languages, English and Finnish. About forty percent of the population also speaks a third language, the most common being Russian, Swedish, and Yiddish.

[Devernia]

In Devernia, English is the most common language spoken. Next follows Portuguese, which was (and still is) the national language of Tasmania.

Devernia is culturally related to Blackacre (kinda like Germany), so there's also a German majority.

[Beaverriver]

English is the primary language of Beaverriver, required in every state. Additionally, the state of Norch has their own regional language of Baetish which is similar to German and Swedish and is taught in schools along side English.
