Imperial Statement from the Pacific and the Pacific Order
In a few short days my recent tenure as Emperor will reach one year. When I agreed to retake the throne of the Pacific, I had a couple of clear objectives in mind for my term:
1. Restore the standing of the Pacific diplomatically with the GCR community.
2. See the repeal of the Condemnation of our region.
While our relations with the north took a bit of a sour turn, I believe that overall, I have been successful in brokering good communications with my fellow GCR regions. The holdouts in the Rejected Realms and the north notwithstanding, the Pacific maintains good relations with each of the primary GCRs, even if in some instances good relations do not equate to overt friendliness.
Following the events of April 2015, the Pacific found itself in a distressing situation. Many of our longterm allies had removed their support for us and, rightly so, supported the Condemnation of our government for our complicity in the subversion of the Lazarene community. While the novelty of the Condemnation was initially supported by the Pacific Order as a symbol of our resolve and the ineffectual status of the Security Council, over time it became clear to me that the benefits did not outweigh the costs. Therefore, I issued two separate apologies for historic actions that were undertaken by the Pacific Order in other regions, in hopes of reconciliation. By and large, these were successful.
I have also sought to restructure the internal constructs of the Pacific Order to compensate for the desires of those that wished to make full use of our meritocratic system. To that end, we reintroduced the provincial system and shuffled the Senate to include a majority of nations that were relatively new to the NationStates world. The inclusion of new nations in the highest echelons of Pacific government has proven that we are adaptable and can function without a perpetual Antiquity nation in control. The provincial system will likely undergo further changes in the near future in order to compensate for current realities. Also, in conjunction with this continuing metamorphosis of the Pacific as a viable and active meritocracy, I have accepted the resignation of Krulltopia from the Senate of the Pacific.
Krulltopia, as is well known, was the longest serving Emperor of the Pacific, and oversaw a great many advancements during his tenure. It is unfortunate that the last stages of his reign were subject to ridicule because of the actions of rogue elements of the Senate. Now that those wrongs have been righted, I have agreed with him that it is time to leave the governance of the Pacific in the hands of others. We owe Krulltopia a debt of gratitude for his long and tireless service to the region. Even during periods of low activity within the NationStates world as a whole, Krulltopia provided a consistency and strength that is seldom observed in this realm. I thank him for his service to the Pacific and he will maintain his status as a retired Emperor of the Pacific, with all the rights and privileges that accompany that position.
But, to the primary purpose of this statement, as I said in the beginning of this overly verbose post, I had two clear aims when I agreed to take the throne. And I believe I have successfully accomplished those goals in full.
Therefore, it is with a cheerful heart (yes, I have one) that I announce that I too will be stepping down from the throne, and from the Senate as a whole. The Delegacy of the Pacific will begin transitioning after the one year mark of my reign to my Consul, Aleisyr, who has long-served the region, but is still comparatively new to the Senate. He has demonstrated complete loyalty to the region and has maintained a Pacific-centric profile throughout most of his NationStates career, avoiding the traps that so many of us get into with the lure of cosmopolitanism.
Aleisyr has been successfully managing the internal affairs and governance of the region for some time. His rapport with the Senate is better than my own and he is highly visible within the region amongst our nations. I am certain he will be a far better Emperor for those nations within the region than the Delegate he replaces.
The transition will not be immediate. Because of the manner in which the Pacific structures its Influence ratings, for the benefit and protection of all, I have stopped seeking World Assembly endorsements and will allow my number to dwindle while Aleisyr constructs his government and Senate. Once he has established his own method of succession, then we will internally decide on the best method of disseminating my accumulated Influence. Until such time as Aleisyr takes the Delegacy, I will remain Emperor of the Pacific. Upon that shift, I will consider myself resigned from the Senate and will be taking up an advisory-only role within the regional government, unless the Emperor requests or directs otherwise.
Thank you to the NationStates community for allowing my region the chance to reform and reshape itself back into a contributing part of this society.
And thank you for your time and attention,

Ivan Moldavi
Leader of Pierconium
Emperor of the Pacific
