Rabbit nodded understandingly. "I am sorry you have to worry about being thrown into such things...but remember, you do not have to be a cruel ruler, or a harsh one, if the crown does fall to you. Once you are king, you can be a kind king. A wise king. Being a good and influential ruler is not about brute force, but wisdom," they continued, thoughtfully.
"And I can tell you, as you are a mature and intelligent boy, you will become wiser and stronger, as you continue down your path. Continue this way, and you will find peace, even as you have greatness thrust upon you," They then turned to Solomon, who lay still in their bed, bleeding badly. But first you must rest and recover," they finished. They then rose to go help Solomon.
And then it happened.
Their limit had been reached quite some time ago. Now they were even worse than they had been before Aether had kissed them and healed then. They were steady as they first rose, but then they felt all of their energy slipping away. Their exhaustion caught up with them, and the world around them seemed to swim. "...Ah...my...head..." they whispered. They then fell sideways themselves, and collapsed on the ground. Unlike Henry, Aria, or anyone else, they had nobody who caught them.
Soleil saw it, being right nearby, and rushed over to see his teacher. "Professor Rabbit!" He knelt beside them and examined them. Their body was cold and still. They did not even seem to be breathing. Soleil panicked, and turned and looked around the room, to anyone who could help. "A-Ah...th-they're not moving! Please, someone! D-Do something!" he cried.

Shaun Calhoun
Shaun heard Rabbit fall and Sol come running next to them. He turned to see that they were on the ground and Sol was crying out for help.
Not again...
"Excuse me sir." He said to John before getting up and walking towards Rabbit; he looked at Ignis trying something.
"Are you sure that will help him? We need to get him on the bed and then try to stabilize him. Maybe then will we figure out what's wrong. But I think I already know what happened..." he said in a calm tone.
He heard Henry and decided to helped him. "Come on. Let's get them on a bed."

A sharp pain brought Aether out of her reverie, followed by a sense of deep exhaustion. She hated when this sort of thing happened--a side effect of the gift she had used on Rabbit earlier was that for a while after use, there was a lingering connection between her and...
...my victims, she thought bitterly. But this is different. I used that power to heal. I used it for someone I care about... which means...
She stood up abruptly and practically flew to the infirmary, once again breaking the door as she blew it open with wind. I really need to work on that.
"I'll take care of them," she said calmly to the worried bystanders, before lifting Rabbit's body as if it hardly weighed more than a feather. "Don't worry."
Am I going to need to use that power again? she thought despairingly. At least I'm using it for good. She left the infirmary quickly, thinking that if she did need to repeat the process from earlier, she would need to do it in private so nobody else saw Rabbit's face.
Which reminds me, I'm going to have to give Albrecht a severe scolding later.
Returning to her own room, she locked the door, laid Rabbit down on her bed, and removed the mask, whispering a quick "Sorry" as she did so and once again cleaning the blood from their face.
I really hate this part, she thought bitterly to herself, and then kissed Rabbit once again, extending her soul into their body so that she could repair the damage.

Soleil saw Aether come rushing in, but she was gone as soon as she appeared. She had taken Rabbit's body somewhere, and vanished literally into thin air. He knew she was a good sorceress, but her magic was...rather uncanny to watch.
Moments later, Rabbit's body lay on Aether's bed. They were so light they barely left an imprint on the mattress. Once again, Aether removed Rabbit's mask and used her healing kiss on them, repairing their wounds. The difference now was that Rabbit did not immediately awaken. They were fixed, but they were still weak from nearly...shattering.
Instead, their head fell to the side, and their breathing evened itself out, as Rabbit seemed to fall asleep. They looked strangely ethereal as they slept, their face pale as ivory, and their hair long and fine. Their breathing was almost silent, and they were almost completely still, save for the rising and falling of their chest. Nevertheless, they were healed, and at peace for the moment.

The eyes of the bird set themselves at the redhead as Henry's eyes closed, as he tried to rest his body for the next days and even months.

Soleil simply walked over to Fawkes and began to pet him under the chin. "...Hi..." he whispered, smiling at the bird. To be honest, he was happy he did not need to pick Rabbit up. His back was hurting just from kneeling next to the masked teacher, and he probably would have truly hurt it more, if he tried to pick them up. Then again, they looked very light in Aether's arms. Either Aether was very strong, or Rabbit was incredibly light. Either way, as long as they were safe, Sol was happy.

"What? Oh, no thank you. I need some real food. That's why tomorrow, I'm gonna have an all day pig out." He said chuckling to himself. Shaun really hoped that she wasn't trying to befriend him or have a chat with him, because if so, then she will be really disappointed with the outcome of her little plan.
He then began talking and thinking to himself about what to eat the next day.
"Maybe I'll go off campus and eat. Ohh! Maybe I can order pizza. Yeah; I'll order some pizza tomorrow. But how many do I want? Maybe three or four will do. Yep! That's definitely the plan! But what to drink? Maybe some lemonade or something. And for dessert? I'll think of something...Oh yeah, appetizers! Oh, so much stuff to do the next day, it's ridiculous!" Shaun explained. You're acting like a lovesick child. You don't need such an attitude, she scolded herself, and replaced the mask, turning away and slumping against the wall, tipping her head back and feeling rather depressed.
This is pointless. Caring about people... is pointless. For you, anyway. You call yourself light and life, but you know better, don't you? You're not life.
You've seen the proof of that yourself.

Why do you even bother?

Rabbit remained asleep, unaware of what was happening to Aether in the corner of her room.
Or somewhat unaware, anyway.
Aether had absorbed part of Rabbit's soul, in using her healing kiss, and thus she felt something inside, as she sat against the wall. A faint memory, one without images.
She felt a deep longing, someone waiting for someone in the dark.
They felt a person come to them, footsteps as they reached the person.
Words passed between them, but in Aether's head, they were replaced by silence.
Two people drawing close, standing together in some dark place. It was outdoors, lonely, and slightly spooky. Around them, emptiness. Between them, seeds of emotions budding. Warmth clashing against coldness. A moment where the two seemed to mix.
Then it was over. A crushing loss of warmth, like a stake piercing someone through the chest. A shudder passing through someone as the cold returned.
Empty arms.
The memory was only a few seconds total. The memory Rabbit had spoken of, yet to be completely defined, but all of the feelings were laid-out inside of Aether, like puzzle pieces. Like gems in a jar, glittering and glowing in different shades, as they revealed themselves. The whole situation was strange, uncanny, and probably not ideal. Yet the memories came anyway, flooding through Aether in waves, as they found themselves within a new mind, a new heart.

Aether twitched, and then twitched again, suddenly filled with a strong urge to hit her head on the wall until the feeling went away.
Stop it, she told herself firmly. Stop it right now. You've got enough problems without giving yourself pointless hope. And you shouldn't even be feeling hope anyway! You don't even have a proper soul, that's obvious enough. You can't feel anything properly.
Why not just give up and see what happens after that?

There are demons that are more like men, and men that are more like demons. All sentient creatures vary form each other. Humanity has no special place. We are not exceptionally kind, nor cruel.
