Lennox would've disapproved, surely, had it not been for that tragic VTOL crash I just wrote into canon.

Okay, we need better Rules of Engagement for TFA. The language "imminent danger to friendly personnel" and "acceptable to engage with partial identification of hostile intent" should be in there somewhere.

Also maybe something about checking for surviving personnel before they bleed out, but that's more understandable. I mean my own squad medic ignored proper triage protocols when she went directly for helping the critical Congreveopian solder before checking the dozen or so other injured/dead people around.

No, but our comms aren't down, and we've got fighters on patrol still if I remember correctly. If nobody else is giving them orders (if memory serves, the entire command staff just got blinded), then Nexus will have reorganized their patrols, and probably diverted half of them back to base to provide close air support while forming the other half into a tighter defensive orbit, now that there's no fleet radar to support them.
