Fun fact, muzzle loading cannons aren't regulated.

I would think they'd be classified as destructive devices, but I guess you can't call a lump of brass too heavy to hold a device so much as Andre the Giant's doorstop.

I thought the same, but muzzle loaders are allowed pretty much no matter what. You just can't fire explosive shells.

They're just Title 1 firearms afaik. Federal law states machine guns are weapons that fire more than once with a single trigger function, there's all sorts of fun legal workarounds to that.

Yes it would, motors would make it a machine gun.

I'm personally planning on creating a notLMG when I get my Class 7 and have the needed machinery for said stuff. I can make the base gun, create a new trigger pack that fires one round on trigger pull and one on release (thus not breaking MG laws) and attach a crank that fires 4 times per full rotation (it's manual action, therefore not breaking MG laws) for a combined 8 shots per full crank rotation while staying entirely legal and semi-auto.
