How exactly is it "hard" to ignore him? He will post frequently but you wont see it will you?

What is it exactly - your personal norms which few others support?
This is net and you will meet people which you will find annoying - so what to do - delete all of them? I bet it is much more better if you click one button right? Hell it happens in RL life too - you find someone in your workplace annoying will you go to manager to fire him/her or will you simply ignore them?

It is not my personal norms, I understand this in the net and I will meet people I do not like but them it comes to something like this I feel needs to have something done and is not an unreasonable suggestion I will make it very clear my stance. I have waited till now to make my opinions honestly and properly known

The comparison with a workplace is entirely unrelated. It has no relevance.

NS isn't democracy... Majority doesn't rule.

Majority may not rule all the time, but there is some occasion when majority must rule to avoid alienating a vast majority of the gamer base. I am not saying that this is doing that, but I can say that Kalasparata upsets a good many people, and will you argue that that is acceptable??

Jungastia wrote:You may find the comments about you behavior amusing, but they are said with the utmost seriousness, as mod I feel that your conduct was unsuited to you position of dictating what is wrong and what is right.

The attacking nature in which it was aimed at La Habana.

Surely mods, it shows that people are angry/upset if they are creating a fuss about it.

Whilst I do not wish to leave the game. I feel that the reaction of the mod team is so unrealistic I might have to.

People have advised him and failed.

Yup. The fact that there are people going against the mods and questioning Kalasparata's existence on Nationstates shows that they are willing to martyr their nations to get him out; I think that shows the kind of hatred that Kalasparata invokes in people through his actions. And FYI to Great Nepal: it is hard to ignore a nation that posts and creates new threads as frequently as he does.

That's the point. If people are actually go against the mods, then something has to be done.

1. It does, since older, more experienced players would meet with Kala at some time.
2. I will respond with this:

Trolling: Posts that are made with the aim of angering people. (like 'ALL JEWS ARE [insert vile comment here]' for example). While Trolls often make these posts strictly in an attempt to provoke negative comment, it is still trolling even if you actually hold those beliefs. Intent is difficult to prove over the internet, so mods will work under their best assumptions.

Note that posts of opinions you disagree with does not automatically equate with trolling. Disagreements are expected, as long as they are done in a civil manner. Max Barry has made it clear that he welcomes all opinions in civil debate, even those that are highly unpopular or minority-held. Make your case without the invective, if you want to avoid banishment as a Troll.

Trolling is also is used to refer to making obviously silly topics that people nonetheless will reply to, despite all common sense. Don't feed the trolls.

I understand that feeding the Trolls is bad, but Kalasparata is a Troll, as is this thread and thus fa illegal under NS rules

Yea - and? When you click it, you will see that Kaplastara (or however his name is spelt), then you can go back to what you were doing without paying attention there cant you?

No majority doesn't rule cos this is Max's "father knows best state" not liberal paradise.

Um... now you are being extreme here - I bet 99% of players have posted such mildly offensive things and never got informal warning too.

What is "offensive" about Kat's post is, apparently, the fact that she called La Habana's behaviour for what it is. Since LH didn't get a ban here for being sweet and lovable, and he sure didn't get a profile full of warnings about flaming and harassment by keeping his nose clean, I can't see anything to object to in her description.

If you have a one-off complaint about anyone's behaviour, take it to Moderation. If you have a continuing complaint about anyone's behaviour, take it to Getting Help. We have procedures for complaints, set in place to avoid precisely this sort of thing -- another RP thread filled with OOC posts. Ignoring the set procedures to derail a thread is behaviour that I think needs a closer look.

Locking this thread while said look is taken.

EDIT: Owing to differing time zones, it will take some time for the hive mind to deal with this. Please don't bother bumping the topic in Moderation; we know it's here.

MOST OF YOU, but not all, who posted in this thread are guilty of threadjacking and jumping in with digs, obvious and more subtle, that have become an ongoing problem. Any who have, consider this an unofficial warning that such behavior will not be tolerated. A copy of this thread and this statement will be made where it can be reviewed as necessary for reference.

La Habana has been given his final warning elsewhere. His conduct here warranted a ban of its own, and that has been taken into consideration.

Kalasparta*** Warned *** for namecalling – ie, flaming. Even if you’ve been baited into it, no one forces you to answer with poor behavior yourself. You know the sorts of responses these kinds of posts will generate. If you can’t handle the inevitable backlash, don’t post them.

Jungastia*** Warned *** for extreme threadjacking and encouraging the removal of a player based purely on localized mob mentality – which is a clear example of flamebaiting. You may still not agree given your refusal to accept personal accountability when dealing with other players, but that is the consensus reached on this end, and it is what we’ll be sticking with.

Sungai Pusat wrote:

Yes, I do know that. If you'd notice, a lot of us here have been on the forums for more than a quater of the year now.

And yet you still haven’t learned not to threadjack. In your whole quarter of a year. As a veteran of over seven years, I find that amazing. You’ve already had notations made to your file. The next offense at jumping in with the griefing and harassment will result in a ban.

Most of this has been addressed in the Moderation thread. Our position has been made patently clear. We do not bow to mob mentality. We do not play favorites between popular and unpopular players. We are here to uphold and when necessary, enforce the game and forum rules, and that is what we will do – regardless of players with delusions of authority or lawyeristic understanding.

Katganistan gave you all ample opportunity to stop the threadjacking, harassment and griefing, and unnecessary ‘me too’ posts that went on here. None of you received warnings at the time. None of you were delivered anything more than a sound ‘knock it off’ and a reminder that you were on thin ice. Nothing in her behavior warranted the backlash she received on account.

This ridiculous expectation that the Moderators are to be held to some higher standard while the rest of you can do and say whatever you please is something that needs to be sorted out, and fast. Yes, you have a reasonable expectation of being treated decently by the Moderation staff – this is something we try to encourage, and something we can be called to account for if we cross the lines. Yes, we try to deal with things reasonably. Yes, we try to deal with things civilly. And yes, when players insist on pushing the boundaries and behaving poorly, they will be responded to accordingly. If your tender sensibilities cannot handle the repercussions of your own words and actions, the Internet is not the place for you.
