FORT WORTH, Texas -- Britain's startling vote to leave the European Union has reignited talks of secession in Texas, CBS Dallas-Fort Worth reported.

Daniel Miller, head of the Texas Nationalist Movement, sent a tweet to Gov. Greg About Friday morning calling on him to schedule a statewide referendum on "Texas independence."

It seems that Texas wants to succeed. I, however, think this is a good deal with other nations and people. I really would like it if we succeeded. I understand that might mean conflict, but you have to crack a few eggs to make an omelet.

Texas and Quebec share many of the same ideas about what secession would look like. Given the sheer amount of federal infrastructure invested into Texas, it would never be the clean break some wish for.

Not to mention it is, constitutionally, not an option.

That wasn't really a unique Texan event. The politics of the Civil War go back to the American Revolution before Mexico let alone Texas was independent. In the mid 19th century it was mostly east coast politics and Midwestern events that lead to the succession. Had those events gone differently and had the eastern states not seceded, I really doubt Texas was going to leave all by itself.

For the record I'm not an advocate of Texas succession. I'm an advocate of OPs with better spelling. An OP who won't fix an obvious mistake is probably an OP that turned and ran instead of joining in the discussion. Maybe even an OP who wanted to bait people.
