The Great Question Of Our Times

Postby Tsaraine » Sat Jun 25, 2016 10:57 pm

The world is all sturm und drang right now, set to Yakkety Sax, as once-proud nations banana-peel into economic freefall and the far right, like global temperatures, is on the rise. In this climate of fear and uncertainty there is only one thing to do: hug your pets. So let's talk pets! What is your favoured companion animal? What do you look for in a pet? Do you go for rescue animals or will you only buy a pet with seven generations of accredited pedigree and more inbreeding than the Spanish Hapsburgs?

I personally am a cat person, I like that cats are independent and not constantly needy while being affectionate and willing to cuddle. I also like dogs of the large, calm and shaggy variety, the sort that's less a dog and more a sort of semi-mobile rug. Unfortunately I haven't had a pet in a long time - my cat died when I was fifteen and by the time I wanted a new pet I'd moved out of home and haven't been able to have pets due to rental agreements.

Vote in the poll, share your pet stories and photos!

A dog. They are faithful companions and provide a wide arrange of uses. I love cats just as much (I own both) but canines have the slight edge. I saved my pet cat myself from a barn, he got caught in the haymound, and the dog I dont remember, I got her as a puppy the day I turned 5. I own a lot more, so here we are

I don't know whether or not I like dogs or cats more, really.

Darn it, I'm voting dogs. I like dogs. But I also like cats.

I have two pets. A dog and a cat. My dog is a pugkingese (puginese? well, a cross between a pug and a pekingnese) and my cat... he's a cat. He eats and sleeps and occasionally looks at me with those eyes. You know those eyes. The eyes of:
"You are so stupid I sometimes cannot bear being in the same house with you... yet here you are, petting me.
I'll let you live this time, human. But know this. My day will come."

I've always kept cats, my mother kept cats, and still has several. I've only got the one though, he walked in the apartment and has never left. I named him Saba, ^__^

Thanks.

That's what my pet human screamed when I branded it; in fact I received my human on the Crusades.

Despite not strictly Pets I view the Spiders that occassionally show up as sort of a Pets. I never kill them. They're amazing beings who protect me from other buggers and they make very fine and advanced Spider Webs. <3

If I would have the Room though I'd would consider getting a Cat.

I have two cats and two dogs, and whilst I love my cats dearly, I love my dogs even more. Even if one of them doesn't remember where she is half the time.

Dogs without a doubt. Dogs are loyal, dogs are smart and most importantly dogs can think.

I would also rate parrots very high on the list. They are smart, loyal and clever too.

I've had both. Most animals tend to like but cats hate me with a passion for some odd reason.

I don't think you can have a quokka, aren't they super rare and protected?

That being said, dogs are adorable little bastards.

I'm a cat person, but for some reason dogs seem to really like me, to the extent of other people's dogs following me. There used to be a Doberman from a few streets away that would come and wait outside my front door. So in the future I might go for a cat and a dog.

There is an out of control trolley speeding towards Jeremy Bentham, who is tied to the track. You can pull the lever to cause the trolley to switch tracks, but on the other track is Immanuel Kant. Bentham is clutching the only copy in the universe of The Critique of Pure Reason. Kant is clutching the only copy in the universe of The Principles of Moral Legislation. Both men are shouting at you that they have recently started to reconsider their ethical stances.
