mind altering yes, as most drugs are. state of low-ambition? only when your high on it. Once the effect wears off your fine.
And the whole point of it is to mellow you out and make you feel chill and cool about everything around you.

Great if you work at a highly stressful dead end 9-5 job where all you get all day is your boss telling you how bad you suck at your job and comparing you to an employee they like. "you should be more like this person and be better at your job instead of sucking all the time."

Its not crack or acid. It doesn't ruin your life. The only reason it would screw with your work or get unemployeed due to it is if you smoke it and get late for going to work.
which I never do. The effects of it are temporary and aside from a slight feeling of drunkenness afterwords, I have never felt any ill side effects and it hasn't ruined my life. Probably saved it a few times actually. Keeps me from wanting to throttle that goody two shoes at work or my boss that wants me to be more like that stupid stuck up boss's pet.

You cant OD on is as far as I am aware of. It doesn't make you see monsters or make you think there are bugs crawling under your skin like crack and meth do. It doesn't make your body age prematurely like meth does and make a 25 year old look like she is 50.
It doesn't coat your lungs in tar and slowly kill you like cigarettes do.
The only effects it has on the human body is giving your brain the idea that you are super hungry even if you weren't before, but also soo lazy that you don't want to get up off your ass cause your soo chill and relaxed and make you a total space cadet. And maybe tripping out a bit so you think your clock is melting.

Point is, yeah we might be junkies. But we are about the most harmless type of junkies you'll ever find. There is a reason you don't find pot smokers wandering around town. They cant bring themselves to get off their ass. And if they can, its just to grab munchies and then go back to sitting down again.

We aren't dangerous tweakers that will do anything for their next fix. we aren't weirdos that pick imaginary insects out of our skin till there are pock marks all over our arms. Our drug doesn't make us look like we are someone's grandmother when we are really barely old to be a mother.

Probably about the lamest, most unscary junky you will ever find. When we are high we just want to be left alone to chill and eat chips and talk about stupid things that, while interesting in the moment, makes us look like total morons later. Trying to figure out the mysteries of the universe and what makes things in the world do what they do and all sorts of lame stuff that has nothing to do with anything.

And then an hour later we are normal again and everything is fine. Except sometimes afterwords I have a slight buzz like people get when they are drunk. But not always.

Thank you Amiege. Moving on is probably for the best. It's possible that the new drug was developed on the jet road, but I'm kind of skeptical about allowing that kind of powerful drug. I will sleep on it and get back to an answer in the morning.

Carson is waiting to pay off his debts to the FROM and get the ultra luxe up and running again. The NCR is fighting a civil war. The war against the legion hasn't been posted about in a while. Does that help?

2 went to helping out the economy by giving them to the president, and the other two went to the people building the cave town with the idea presented that once the group was paid the gold bars, the government could send some undercover ops to swoop in dressed as raiders or khans or some other bad guy faction to kill the workers and steal the gold, thus giving the government more gold.
