Took a few jumps, but I was beating both BT and one of the two HYDRA taggers into regions by the end of the night ;)

Good to be back, here's to more slain Darkspawn, until all the blight is eliminated.

BT says yes, but as the resident Lore expert I wince and mouth the word "game" as though you've just thrown a knife in my direction.

My dear nation, The Wardens are featured in no less than two Dragon Age Novels - "The Calling" and "The Last Flight", and I'm sure they're mentioned in "Asunder" as well; plus the "Those Who Sleep" comic, all three games, the trading card game, the World of Thedas Volumes 1 and 2, and a few other Dragon Age related items as well.

In Inquisition you obviously decide the fate of the Order in Orlais and Ferelden... and possibly Nevarra, The Free Marches given the scope of the map, something I find irritating.

<goes on and on until he falls asleep in his chair still muttering about lore>

tbh it really miffed me about how the Warden from the first game had no effect on what happened to the Wardens in Inquisition. A devoted Warden Commander wouldn't just dip. It was totally In Character for my worldstate though since my Character would have and pretty much did abandon the Wardens the moment the blight had ended. Of course on the flip side of that coin my character would have never abandoned Ferelden and yet that is exactly what happens no matter what.

The story of today's liberation, a story of extreme Darkspawn incompetence, begins two days ago. An attempted liberation of this region failed when update was missed. The Darkspawn delegate woke up, removed a few defenders, but couldn't ban them all. Here's when the real trainwreck began.

The Darkspawn of Auralia seemingly forgot the liberation attempt happened. And so, Warden Applebania, as well as Hodori and Ravania Ultra of the United Defenders League, stayed in the region without their presence being noticed for all of two days. At the end of those two days, The Grey Wardens entered the region and catapulted Ravania into the delegacy.

The following (Six!) Wardens were involved:
First Warden Benevolent Thomas
Warden Tim Stark
Warden Leafish
Warden Rom
Warden New Dukaine
Warden Applebania

Other involved defenders included
Ravania Ultra
Hodori
Frattastan II
Kanta Hame
Kortexia

Wardens looking confused at the utter lack of fortifications in the Darkspawn positions

In the business of fighting the Darkspawn, one expects danger, sometimes-futile battles, and difficult sieges. Today was no such circumstance, as The Grey Wardens liberated Ireland with ease from a coalition led by The Kingdom of Great Britain but also including Empire of Russia, HYDRA Command, and The Chaos Brigade. Having watched these foes all last update, and feeling the sorrow that comes when a region is unable to be protected, The Wardens were ready to strike full force to free those within Ireland. For those who don't wish to read on, a short version of the oncoming chronicle is, Ireland was easily liberated.

However, it is important to document the weaknesses of one's enemy, and so we shall document them. To the understanding of this Warden-Commander, who was actually on leave for the past minor update but was greeted with a full briefing on the circumstances upon return, there were simply too many of them. To start, we would like to establish that this region would have become liberated even had we not jumped in. However, we assumed our foe knew how to hold a region, and so The Wardens deployed anyway, certain that our numbers would be necessary. How, you might ask, would it have been already liberated? Well, between the time when the region was taken and liberated, many of Ireland's other allies streamed in via non-update movement to endorse their native delegate. In most circumstances, you would expect the invader point to summarily eject and ban all of those nations, as is common operating procedure. So, imagine the shock when the invader point chose to not eject a single one of those nations, from our perception not even logging on until the very time when the region was updating. I should note, at this point, that even had the non-update nations been ejected, the Wardens had enough firepower to liberate the region regardless. The lack of tact only goes on, as the Kingdom of Great Britain's point did end up logging on, right as our forces were moving in. Here come the banjections, we assumed, but instead all the invader did was suppress some RMB posts, apparently oblivious to the liberation on his doorstep. It is safe to say that Ireland was safely liberated, and all Darkspawn were sent to the Realms by its rightful native delegate. In addition, The Wardens also got some defenses on the board.

After doing some research, this Warden was informed that the KGB pointman for Ireland was the player known as Vaculatestar. Therefore, from the Grey Wardens to you, Vac, here's a hearty thank you for your efforts in helping the liberation succeed.

A lone Warden prepares to face the oncoming Darkspawn

Tonight wasn't the most eventful of nights on the battlefield. Commander of the Grey Tim Stark battled against the Darkspawn forces in a mostly solo effort to stop the taint from spreading across the land. While not as fruitful as other nights, when many Wardens stood together against the forces of darkness, some success was still to be found within this night. A defense was found in California, where the Warden was joined by allied forces, and a solo repelling of the Darkspawn in The Most Extreme Nations stood out. The quick speed and efficiency come to be known from The Grey Wardens subsequently forced the enemy hordes into missing their targets completely at times, such was their desperation to prevent a Warden from chasing them in, ensuring that just the presence of Wardens at the update keeps Darkspawn at bay.

Greater success was also found via those who entrenched themselves in the protection of held fortifications, to ensure the rooting out of hiding Darkspawn hordes and prevention of new ones rolling in. With Wardens already entrenched, Tim Stark worked to deploy additional allied forces into various positions upon the battlefield. With these efforts, UDN, A Small Boat Stranded In The Pacific, and Maria Sharapova Fans Army ensured their safety from Darkspawn presence. The Wardens would like to thank the Spiritus Defense Force, who alone supplied six troops to the efforts, as well as the United Defenders League, Renegade Islands Alliance Security Forces, and the Wintreath Hvitt Riddaral for their assistance in holding these regions.

Caesar retrieving his vial of darkspawn blood

The Wardens continue to grow in strength. In just over two weeks the Order has grown from its lone founder to fifteen members. The majority of the forces are made up of new Wardens while a few veteran Wardens have returned to their posts. More impressive yet is knowing that all but one of these new recruits have already completed their Joining ritual, making them official Wardens. We aim to keep expanding our numbers in preparation of the coming resurgence of the blight.

What started as a peaceful morning devoid of any darkspawn presence turned into small skirmish when a trio or raiders took to the fields. The Wardens, who were aiding local communities rebuild after the aftermath of prior attacks gladly charged into battle and handily defeated the enemy alongside good friends. We may have even witnessed the return of a true hero of NationStates.
