[REQUEST] Change residency tracker reset only at update

Postby Kaboomlandia » Thu Jun 02, 2016 5:35 am

Would it be possible to change the residency tracker so that it only resets if you're out of the region for an update? The reason I say this is because I accidentally moved this nation out of Europeia for three seconds between update by accident, and now I'm 1,317th in residency.

That sounds terrible.

Yeah, we had a discussion about that before it was implemented. Everyone who commented wanted it more forgiving, but Elu didn't like it.

My feeling is that it should only count as a move if you're elsewhere for the update.

To add on to this, could we round the residency on the census?

Looks like someone didn't do %.2f.
it's obviously not C but that's the only language i know

I'm just wondering, wouldn't that generate a lot more data to save since you'd have to keep track of each player's residency in every region they went to? I do like the idea though.

I'm not sure whether that's what the OP wanted.

Under my proposal - no. You only clock up residence in your current region, but you don't move for residency purposes until you spend an update in a new region. That would mean you could hop over to a non-embassy region and post a message without losing your record.

The formatting would have no effect on what was stored.

I think that could work. I more want to change it so people don't lose their residency if they region-hop between updates to post on RMBs.

EDIT: I've also edited the OP to clarify the question I'm asking.

Sounds too much like a good idea. We can't have that around here!

But, yeah, I think that makes far more sense than the current system...

Of the misfortune of accidentally moving it DURING an update. I love your idea!

Aussie, you really didn't need to bump this when you already have a current thread that you started available.
