NS Name: Ithalian Empire
Character Name: James Hess
Species: Human
Age: 30
Appearance:Minus the pistol and body armor
Faction: Unaffiliated as of now, will change later.
Bio:
James was born on a planet called Dust, a mining world on the very edge of what most would consider civilisation. He was cursed to live there because of some great grandparents made some damn fool mistake and believed that the planet had some sort of promise of a better future. And for a while that dream was made true. The Hess family was influential on the planet. They owned on of the mines of the world and made a pretty penny from it.
For a few generations all was good for the Hess family, they had power, they had money. There family was large and prosperous. Then came the Locust, and while Dust was nowhere near the war many of the Hess men went out and did their duty to their country. This was the first sign that the family was ailing. Gregory Hess, the family patriarch, lost three of his four sons in the war. Arnold Hess was the last surviving and was James great grandfather.
What relay laid the Hess family low was the start of the Civil War. Dust was torn in two, half wished to remain loyal to the government, half wished to end the military rule. The Hess family wished to remain loyal and they lost. The GRF won Dust and the Hess family lost everything, their mines, their political clout, there honor.
Before the rebels took the planet the Hess family attempted to flee with the other refugees, requesting and even paying Federation officials to guarantee them there safely. The Federation turned its back on the Hess's and a dozen other families of Dust's hierarchy leaving them for the rebels to treat at their own wim. Only one Hess made it our of the slaughter that ensued, Arnold Hess Jr, James's grandfather.
With the family name in dust, like the planet that they lived on, the Hess family had to rebuild. But the GRF didn't take take to kindly to the old loyalist family. They were forced to work in the mines they once owned, in the factories they once invested in, in the farms they once bought from. They were beaten and downtrodden from thence forth.
When James was born ceasefire had been signed long ago and war hadn't bothered Dust for nearly a century. That didn't mean thing were good for the young James. His mother was killed during a pirate raid on the world and his father left, driven insane by his own grief. At only 12 years old James was forced to live on his own. To survive he learned how to pick pockets and steal food.
When James turned twenty he was caught stealing a loaf of bread. Given the choice between prison or the mine James chose the mines. Working like a slave for three years before he was freed. He continued to work the mine though, it paid him and he didn't have to steal anymore. For James work took his mind away from the troubles of his family, of its once glorious past, and what it had turned into.
James worked and then he found someone. A women by the name of Andrea, who like him had to live a rough life on the streets of Dust. The fell in love and soon found themselves married. She has given James a reason to continue, and he has given her security. Neither care about the political environment the galaxy find itself in, so long as they can continue living peacefully the way the had been. But it's a cold, uncaring galaxy and fate can play cruel tricks on all.
Personality: Normally James is a friendly person, not very sociable and at times he can be aloof, but he isn't arrogant, his childhood erased any of the aristocracy associated with his family name. But there is always something dark lurking, his bitterness, his hate, his anger all boiling and stewing under his calm friendly veneer.
Strengths: He is physically strong, a decent thief, and is cordial to most people
Weaknesses: He is unaffiliated with any faction, he is prideful,

Character Name: Lawrence Maxson
Species: Human
Age: 79
Appearance: Here
Faction: Federation Military Government
Bio:
Lawrence Maxson was born in the city of New York on the Human homeworld of Earth on March 21st, 3141. His father was a general, and his father before him - all the way back to the days before the Federation arrived. When he was born, the Galactic Civil War had already been raging for decades, and he was raised to believe the legitimacy of the Federation Military Government. When he turned 18, he enlisted in the Federation Navy, where his father put him in command of his own ship in 3160. For the next two years, he led this vessel on more than a hundred successful operations against the Galactic Revolutionary Front, and in late 3163, he was given command of a Federation Dreadnought in it's smallest fleet. He took part in many operations as the war heated up in the 3160s, but the fleet was re-deployed to Earth in 3169.
During the Battle of Earth, Lawrence would become one of the greatest military heroes in Federation History. Early into the battle, the Federation would lose most of it's commanding generals, and 29-year old Lawrence Maxson assumed command of the defense and participated in the war both in space and on the surface of Earth, and in the end, won the battle for the Federation. While much of the Human homeworld had been destroyed and billions had been killed, it was a decisive victory. Lawrence Maxson was named Admiral of the now-famous 6th Fleet, a title which he carries on to this day.
Recently, though, Lawrence has been struggling to maintain the respect and credibility he earned in the past. His son, famed Marine Adrian Maxson, has defected from the Federation Military by brutally murdering his commanding officer and stealing military property, then running off and joining the rebellion. He is now at the forefront of the effort to capture his son - coordinating with other generals and doing everything in his power to bring his son to justice, while crushing the rebellion and restoring peace to the Galaxy.
Personality: Persistent, irritable, fiercely loyal, egotistical
Strengths: Brilliant general and tactician, charismatic and respected across the Federation
Weaknesses: Older and unable to actually fight
Theme: Maybe

I know, but what would a normal Brood do? Like, assuming my character wasn't there, what would they do?
If it's all reliant on him, they won't be able to conquer very much before his head explodes

This isn't really a spinoff l. More a Spiritual Successor (maybe not even that).
