I'm shocked about the terrorist attack by the iranian president (?) in your country, and I want to offer you to work together to catch these terrorist. We promise to do everything we can do that will help you.

Aachen, Germany

Customs officer Schneider wants to talk to his colleagues.

"Liebe Customs officers! I've just received a phone call by Björn Höcke."

"Björn Höcke? The politican?", asks customs officer Zimmermann.

"Yes, exactly him. He said we should controle the border even more carefully than we already do. We shall watch out for...well, the iranian president. And arrest him and every person who's with him, if possible."

I want it to be very clear that the attack on the detention center and the escape afterwards was a proper military action. All the combatants involved were wearing the proper uniforms and/or markings making it all perfectly legitimate during war.

Which the French made very clear we were at.

Germany seems to mind terribly that Iran took military action to liberate its president but doesn't mind at all that France has invaded a fellow NATO member? It doesn't make any sense.

Yes, Germany is also a member of NATO and I suppose therefore also at war with Iran but this was not done under the guise of terrorism and nothing was said about Rouhani shooting anybody. He wasn't even armed at that time.

I know Krugeristan took it upon herself to initially write that it was done under the guise of terrorism but I insisted that was changed (which I believe she did) and made it very clear in my own post folowing what the deal was.

I think nobody else knows that the french arrested Rouhani? I'm sorry if I'm wrong with this. If I'm not, I think the media will say it was a terrorist attack (and that Rouhani shot at people were exaggerations by the media). Although they were wearing uniforms... That's a problem, I don't know how to change that...
Germany has got an alliance with France, so they ignore that they invaded Belgium, to keep that alliance. It wouldn't be good to be in war with both, Iran and France at one time, so they cooperate with France against Iran.

You don't seem to know what NATO is.

But thanks for deleting it for now.

I really wanted it to be clear that it was not a terrorist attack and I put real efford into making it a legitimate act of war.

I'm not an expert in NATO related things, no. But I've made some researches about it now, and I guess you mean this:

"The key section of the [North Atlantic] treaty is Article 5. Its commitment clause defines the casus foederis. It commits each member state to consider an armed attack against one member state, in Europe or North America, to be an armed attack against them all."(english Wikipedia)

The german wiki also says that a nations government has to decide on their own if they take military actions to protect another member or not. Following that, Germany can ignore France's military actions against Belgium. Of course, the german wiki can also be wrong.

That means you were/are both allied to Belgium. What is such an alliance with France worth to you, seeing as to how it respected its alliance with Belgium?

What is an alliance with you worth seeing how you respect yours with Belgium?

Yes, it was :D . But you're right, it's a difficult situation. But the alliance between Germany and France is still secret and unofficial, other NATO members don't know about it. And it's in their interest to arrest Rouhani, NATO's still in war with Iran. So if the germans find Rouhani, they won't do anything different than France. Also the french have brought Abdullah to the USA, so they also work together with them...

OOC-ly I overlooked NATO declaring war on the Shia Coalition.

IC-ly I thought France was out of NATO when it invaded Belgium.

Our biggest issue is discussing how to get Abdullah with America's player. Our next biggest is getting Rouhani back to Iran.

We can go to Finland (Not a NATO-member) by sea in international waters. Then from Finland to Russia (Also not NATO and not at war with Iran and from there to Turkmenistan which is our ally.

All the while the president would enjoy diplomatic immunity.

Good idea.

Suggest it to Akarah, and we can revive the roleplay. :)

Dear President Elsdon Overton,

Could it be the greatest western power has finally recognised an independent Palestinian state? You're aid is most welcome, and your support leaves us indebted to you. With this step, I hope we can continue the work of previous presidents towards a two state solution. Together, we can end the conflict plaguing us and Israel, and become a beacon of hope for Middle Eastern peace.

I know, but there was also the declared aid bit, so I have no clue what you were trying to do here.

It was a massacre of 60+ Christian civilians by Fatah and the As-Saika organization. Several of the victims were under 16.
