Ah, if only international relations actually worked like this.

European Union is weak and indecisive. You need only look at their responses to the financial crisis to see that.

The UK leaving the EU is a financial issue. You'll have to negotiate some sort of trade deal right?

More like 1946. The post war consensus is falling apart. We've gone backwards.

It also happens to be a geo-political and legal issue - Brexit has far more profound implications than this.

NATO won't disappear overnight, European continental law is largely a joke anyway. "Muh abuse of right", "pls no bully" literally enshrined in contract law. You'd be better off without it.

It's my lack of fucks over European unity. There is no issue with the law in the grand scheme of things if countries really want something.

How long will that take? It's not just the EU we'd have to renegotiate with, especially if half the bluster is "we can make our OWN trade deals with blackjack and hookers!!1!"

The government estimated this could take ten years. That's pretty fucked. My professional life, which I hope to start soon, in a decade of massive financial uncertainty.

NATO is nothing to do with the EU, and NATO isn't the only geo-political entity or system in Europe. Partly evidenced by, y'know, the EU.
EU continental law isn't a joke. It's pretty pervasive throughout our legal system. So many of our laws refer back to European laws and EU directives define how industry operates.

You seem very fond of the. Period. Statements.

Is that supposed to make me care?

I doubt it will be 10 years. Trade and businesses will lobby hard to make sure the bump isn't that bad. This is a fact coming from the same government that claimed you would lose 5% to 10% of GDP. You'll have to pardon me if I don't take David Cameron at his word. It's like trusting Obama, a bad decision.

I thought the poster was refering to collective security, hence why I mentioned NATO. The EU law system is a joke. It's a system with riddled with bureaucratic garbage and lots of poor legal ideas that I'm glad never spread to America. Those EU laws or directives can always be reimplemented by Westminster if you will miss them so much. It's not that big of a deal. You'd be better off saving your legal system from the continents ideas. They tend to be bad for business.

The UK should leave the European Union. It would save them billions every year. It would give their soveirgnty back.
I hope this will set an example for other countries to leave this corrupt undemocratic union that is even worse than the Soviet Union.

Actually it's looking like it's going to cost each household anywhere from £2,200 to £5,000 by 2030.

Of course we would. Britannia rules the waves, dontcha know, and they could effortlessly blockade the continent until we agreed to trade with them on their terms.

Actually it's looking like it's going to cost each household anywhere from £2,200 to £5,000 by 2030.

The United Kingdom government spends 12.1 billion each year. It only gets 6.7 billion in subsidies. So the EU costs 5.4 billion. The UK has about 64716000 people.
That is about 83 pounds per person.

Give a source for that fact.

The UK will likely sign a freetrade treaty with the EU because many countries like Germany are net exporters to the UK.
