Interim Government condemns 'PowerPlay' by New Austrailanor

The Interim Government, while currently embroiled in tense negotiations with the Kingdom of Desla-Ahnerania and Ventlimer over North-Eastern Surban, has recently announced its condemnation of the alleged 'PowerPlay' that they have made. The Interim Foreign Affairs Secretary said at a press conference:

'This move made by the New Austrailanor Government is nothing more than a vile PowerPlay. They are attempting to hijack the current crisis that the Poluostrvo Peninsula is currently going through in a move to win themselves international points. We, as a government and people, will not accept these moves at any rate or by any nation. This is an obvious sign that New Austrailanor wishes to see itself as the dominant power in Admayora, a move that is most worrying. They are attempting to push their political vendetta of 'testing the trade routes' is obviously to show their support for the imperial power, by making sure we cannot properly defend ourselves should war come about. They have also threatened our young state, accusing us of being linked to terrorism simply because our goals are similar to that of the now defunct T.I.A. All of these reasons have led to the agreement of the Interim Government to send an official letter of condemnation to the New Austrailanor government. We will not tolerate this behaviour and thinly veiled threats, especially from a nation that is not involved in the negotiations or Crisis as a whole

Following the announcement, several ships of the The Surban Republic National Naval Force and a number of civilian ships and boats were seen leaving their home port of Luka and into the Moreuz Cape, in a clear attempt to deter the New Austrailanor ships from entering.

As well as this, the Secretariat of Defence, Milan Artsruni, has revealed plans to begin a reproduction of the Izazivač MBT. It is speculated that the 'produced quickly' requirement has a correlation with the recent militarisation of the border between Surban and North-Eastern Terolk. Many Generals and Officers have expressed concern that the current number of Izazivač MBTs available to use is not enough to defend against any large armoured assualts without having them focused on one area. To fund the reproduction of the tank, bonds have become available to the public so that they can directly fund it. Mr. Artsruni stated;

'There are over 13 million Surbans. If, every morning, half of the Surbans bought a single Pollae Bond, that would be six million Pollaes. That can fund the creation of four Izazivač tanks. If everyone bought a one Pollae bond, that is 13 million Pollaes! If we do this every day for a week, that is between twenty and thirty tanks we can build! If we do it for once a day for a month, which will only cost 30 Pollaes for everyone, we can build enough tanks to sustain ourselves.

Surban/Terolk, New Austrailanor, and Parsalia on the global stage

YULZA - Election season is in fully swing, and with it comes a set of issues that might define said election. One of the issues, we already know, is that of the Terolk/Surban situation, and the recent "test of freedom of navigation" conducted by New Austrailanor, Parsalia's historical friend.

The situation in the Poluostrvo Peninsula is also causing tensions here at home between leaders of the major parties. Federalist Party leader Maritza Petroche Emery, Democratic Party leader Miles Petrosian, and Labour Party leader Stephen Grundman-Ashkar all have separate takes on the situation, and are more than willing to throw jabs at one another, it seems.

Grundman has already become controversial for his self-described "largely unconditional support for the independence of Surban," and his comments on New Austrailanor's recent involvement in the waters of the Peninsula are in line with his views on the situation. In a political rally in Mountbatten, PA on Wednesday night, he opined that the actions taken to "test the trade routes" were "in all actuality a show of military might to the fledgling Surbanese nation", supporting the Surban Republic's characterisation of the action as a "power play" in the region. "We should not expect this kind of behaviour from a longtime friend of ours, and if elected, I will avoid the imperialist ambitions of our current government and encourage our President to push New Austrailanor to cease such action in the future," he said.

Petroche, in contrast, praised New Austrailanor's decision in a rally on Thursday morning as "integral to making sure that trade routes for not only their nation, but our own, remain intact during the political upheaval." She described the Surbanese response as "nothing more than an excuse to solidify their pro-independence propaganda for their own disillusioned citizens," and expressed worry that the new interim government could "harden from being a people's movement into a dictatorship - one allegedly of the people, but in all actuality for a powerful minority." She also criticised Grundman for his comments, accusing him further of "supporting lawless coup d'états in downtrodden regions for the benefit of a failed ideology"; she also said that "it is becoming increasingly clear that Grundman prefers the term 'freedom fighter' instead of 'terrorist'."

Petrosian took his time to criticise both of the other candidates at a Democratic rally on Thursday afternoon, referring to Grundman's support of Surban as "simplistic and out-of-touch with how international politics actually work" and referring to Petroche's comments as "hate-mongering against the left for the benefit of her own semi-imperialist leanings." However, he tended to agree more with Petroche than Grundman in terms of his opinion on the situation, referring to New Austrailanor's actions as "justified and something for which we should be grateful."

President John Francis Aberdeen, in a press conference on Thursday morning, addressed the situation less directly and more about the current electoral events. He urged "caution" in New Austrailanor's - or any nation's - dealings in the Peninsula, saying that "The situation there is already regrettable due to the high level of tension and strife, and we should focus on the wellbeing of the citizens more than on the whims of political leaders in this circumstance." He also noted that "political fragmentation in our own nation is not going to solve the events in Surban, and I will instead support New Austrailanorian President Mabel Jarvis' call for a negotiated settlement between the Surban Republic and the Kingdom of Desla-Ahnerania. I encourage all other political leaders to do the same."

The first official debate between the leaders of major political parties and coalitions will occur on Friday evening, to be televised at 20:30 on PBC One.

Break Down in Negotiations, Ventlimer Withdraws Support From Surban Republic

Today, the Palace announced that there had been a breakdown in the negotiations, but not as expected by many: Secretary of State William Deniri claims that the Surban Republic had refused generous peace offerings that gave it sovereignty over the Free State of Terolk, as declared by Desla-Ahnerania, because it wished to try and execute its old government members.

"The government calling itself the 'Surban Republic' has shown no interest in peace if it does not get everything it wants. The King of Desla-Ahnerania, who has much personal loss at risk in this crisis, offered to surrender the Free State of Terolk to the Surban Republic in exchange for the pardoning and relocation of the Parliament of the old Terolk Government. This offer was refused, despite knowing that the Republic would lose Ventlimian support. Also, The Surban Republic has a military that it can hardly control, resulting in many well armed ships still patrolling open waters to stop any ship that may come through. Consequently, I have suggested to the President that we side with the only wants who have been willing to do the right thing: Desla-Ahnerania. I have also suggested that we challenge the blockade in coordination with New Austrailanor."

The Surban Republic has not responded publicly to these breakdowns in Negotiations, but VPB has reached out to them.

In Ventlimer, the news seems to come with a sigh of relief. As Bruno Biagio of the Nationalist Party of Ventlimer gains quickly in the polls before the first debate tonight, the Ventlimian Public has seemed to take a drastic turn against the Surban Republic as news of executions and rioting against loyalists reached Ventlimer. Bruno Commented on the situation, calling it a horrific example of revolutionary fervor in a nation that has for so long been stable and protected by its Occupying State.

However, the Democrats disagreed, saying that "Every Mass Revolution is a sign of the people, saying that they have had enough of the oppression and desire a change. The executions are unfortunate, but should not overshadow the reason this revolution is so violent."

In the polls, the Surban-Terolk Crisis is still the number one foreign policy issue facing the nation, but views on whose side to take or if Ventlimer should take any side at all are sharply divided. The Majority, however, say that Desla-Ahnerania is in the right, while a large portion said Ventlimer should not be involved at all. The polls do not reflect the Secretary of State's words or the actions of the Surban Republic in the oceans to their south.

Interim Government calls Ventlimer claims 'Ludicrous'

Government ministers have reacted with fury to the claims made by Ventlimer that 'The Surban Republic has a military that it can hardly control', stating that;

'The order to deploy ships to the ocean was given by the Interim Secretary of Defense who, quite rightly, saw the deployment of a military fleet to the seas under the Peninsula by New Austrailanor as threatening at the very least. We can only admit that the civilians that have followed the ships to open water were decisions made of free will. We have withdrawn our ships from the seas, however we cannot control what the people do.

They have also criticised the assumption that the arrested politicians will be execute, stating that;

"We do not wish for them to be killed. They served the state under a corrupt system, however it is the failure to address the corruption that they will be put on trial for. Corruption holds a maximum sentence of 35 years, so the belief that they will be executed without trial is outlandish! It is because of our determination for criminals to face justice is why we refused the terms. We wish to avoid war like any other man, but we cannot allow criminals to go free. That would send a message to other corrupt officials in the world, and that is not something we wish to have caused.

We must also address the point that this region was stable under occupation. That is a point that ignores some of the most tragic part of our history. From 1928 till 1935, we had fought a previous war for independence that left two million dead and even more displaced. What followed next was a catastrophe. The Desla-Ahneranian government made forced relocations of ethnic Surbans to the more inhospitable regions of the country, often times making citizens walk for days with little rest and food, which resulted in even more death and despair. There was an attempted genocide of our people. This lasted from 1938 till 1960 and we have yet to receive an apology in the slightest. It was because of instability in the region that in 2005, The Royal Proclamation To Establish The Free State Of Terolk was instituted into law so that the people could attempt to repair the damage caused by Desla-Ahnerania. So, we are disgusted at the ludicrous claims that stability was maintained by the Occupier as it spits on the graves of the millions dead because of it!

With a history like this, it is easy to see why we wish to have independence on our terms, as for so long we have lived in oppression on the terms of another.'

CALIGARI – Following a press conference on the foreign relations with Desla-Ahnerania, the Foreign Minister for the Federated States of Lovarium and Palermo was recorded giving comment on the Terolk/Surban Republic situation, and said that his office was looking into the "recognition of the Surban Republic", and would be making an official statement on that particular issue in a few days. In another conference, he has made comments on how Desla-Ahneranian actions concerning Terolk have been troubling, as well as Terolk's own actions in kind. During the press conference today, Mr Allierè outlined new border patrol agreements between the KDA and the Domavian Territory, which he brushed over as "standard procedure". The Foreign Minister also mentioned improving relations with Ventlimer, with a new development of free travel across both parts of Brindisi. He announced a new program that would declare the area an open economic zone, where both citizens of the Salona Province and Ventlimer will be able to travel on "certain transportation pathways" to reach the other side of the country or, in Salona's case, to the country proper.

This new development between the two countries will be expected to play out over the next several months, and the Foreign Minister highlighted the fact that this agreement is between Ventlimer and Salona, not Ventlimer and Domavia, or the FRPL at large. Given this, we cannot tell how this travel agreement will impact relations across the Federal Republic and Ventlimer. The Terolk crisis may drive a wedge in relations, since Ventlimer has supported their independence, but now has taken another stance most recently. Assuming Ventlimer holds onto this opposition stance, there could be a shaking out of alliegances throughout the Federal Republic with Ventlimer, Desla-Ahnerania, and Terolk/Surban.

With regard to the hinted recognition of Terolk as the Surban Republic, an independent and sovereign political entity, criticism has arisen from opponents of the decision. Despite the fact that no official advances have yet been made concerning the recognition, that has not stopped politicians in Culaceum from speaking out. In a joint speech, officials from Lovarium and Cordenum sided with the KDA and condemned the actions of Terolk, and called for a "return to normality with the Kingdom". The only other states that have given comment are Emona Province and the State of Campagno, who supported the independence movement.

Analysis - Giancarlo Aneris is a political analyst from the University of Caligari, and his writings are not representative of the Palermo Dispatch.

Drawing upon contemporary history, it's apparent that the Latin states of Cordenum and Lovarium have frequently been at odds with the Italian states of Palermo, Sicilia, Salecia, Marche, Campagno, and Brindisi. This could play as a factor in the conflict on the peninsula that is stemming from the recent announcement that Surban is its own independent country. Lovarium and Cordenum have both condemned the action, and wish for "Terolk" to return to Desla-Ahnerania. This is fairly consistent with the Latin states' support for the KDA over the years.

However, this support for the KDA might prove to be divisive, since Campagno has already declared its support for Surban, and it's expected that the Marches as well as Salecia are to declare within the next few days for Surban. Normally, Brindisi would be included in this list of states to align their interests, but recent developments with Ventlimer to increase border travel agreements and bettering relations is threatening to draw it away from the contemporary balance between the Latin and Italian states. The Southern Union has always depended on Brindisi's participation in the union in order to keep it financially balanced, and the lack of collaboration with Brindisi on this subject might prove to be troublesome and destabilizing in the Union.

Sicilia has traditionally been left independent of FRPL politics and unions, opting instead to become a commercial hub and population center. Their neutrality doctrines and policy has left them preserved throughout the times of Turmoil during the 20th century, and has spared them the horrors of the Union Wars of 1987-1999. Palermo is in a similar situation, but has traditionally supported the Southern Union against the Latin Union, as in the case of the Union Wars, in which their support and contribution ended the conflict.

The Surban crisis might reignite the Union Wars, and pit the Latins and the Southern Italians against each other again. Palermo will most likely try to remain independent and serve as a buffer state to Sicilia, but that appears to be unlikely, since Palermo will want to end the war quickly. The question remains as to what will ignite the war. Recent deployments of FRPL troops to the southern provinces of Domavia, in Emona, could be a potential source of contention. These troops are majority Latin sourced, and might be more inclined to follow the political urgings of their homelands. They are on assignment to restore order to some Surban protests within Emona in majority-minority areas. What's interesting about this assignment is that it is sanctioned by Domavia, since they would like to keep their territory intact and maintain border integrity, but it's unknown if this endorsement will continue as Italian-Latin relations possibly deteriorate over the Surban crisis.

Only time will tell.

Lastario Takes Brunting In hostile Takeover!

Hours ago, David Lastario announced that his company had acquired 67% of Brunting Mining corporation, effectively taking over the company as it elected new board members and prepared to buy more of the stock.

Brunting Mining Corporation currently is the controlling factor in the mining and processing of Uranium, which cities like Venler require for their powerplants. It was started in 1963 as a simple copper mining company, but quickly laid claim to the first discoveries of Uranium found in the country. By 1970, it was the largest mining company in Ventlimer, with little competition. It wasn't until 1978 that Lastario Industries expanded beyond the refinement of Copper ore to the actual mining of Copper and a little Uranium, but also of Iron, Gold, and others. By 1984, it had become the only serious competitor to Brunting, which had slowed in growth considerably. Now, David Lastario carries on his father's legacy, finally controlling almost 84 Percent of the Mining and Refinement market.

As it stands, it is unknown how the government will respond or if it will at all.

President Dovzhenko says “participants need to do some soul searching” in Surban Conflict

During a press conference after the Proclamation of war by Desla-Ahnerania against the breakaway state of Surban, President Dovzhenko was asked extensively about the declaration of war. The President affirmed that Vzysokarus would not engage in the conflict militarily and that the Republic would offer diplomatic aid to the Belligerents of the conflict. However it was he response to the question given by Reporter Gavrill Ovonev which was stated as “If you had anything to say to the leaders involved in this war, what would you say?” The President's response is as followed


“I think the participants need to do some soul searching. They need to ask themselves if they are really ready to do what is necessary to win this conflict. The Surban need to ask themselves if they are ready for total, absolute, and unmitigated war. Are they really ready for the national undertaking that is a war for independence. And to those in the current Ahneranian administration, are you ready to do whatever it takes to retain this break away state? To maintain territorial integrity? This war will require you to do inhuman things to these people? Are you truly ready for civil war? War that will always descend into godless violence.”


After this the President ended the conference, leaving many reporters and journalist mistified at the answer given. Many are saying the answer is clear, and that the president is explicitly promoting an anti-war policy and message. Others have said that he genuinely wants to know if the Belligerents have the stomach for war, but not necessarily doing so in an anti-war platform.


President Dovzhenko has refused to clarify his statement saying “Those who need to hear it will know what it means.” Prime Minister Gregorev also declined to comment on the statement. However Gregorev did say he understood where the President was coming from.


The President has stated he does support Surban self determination but has stated that the conflict is unwanted and “Disastrous” to the whole goal of what these separatist. However Prime Minister Anton Gregorev has publicly stated he does not support the separatist but has also stated his worry of the brewing war that was coming to front.


Currently the Vzysokarusian government is highly pessimistic on the prospect of conflict just across the Ouranian Ocean. however official from the Vzysokarusian Navy have stated they will provide escorts for merchant ships operating in the central sectors of the Ouranian Ocean in case of possible naval engagements.

Southern Emona Destabilizing
Foreign Minister Issues Official Statement

LOVARIUM - Lovarii Foreign Minister Maria Ariete gave a statement late last night as part of the Latin Union's rally, along with a prepared speech. After delivering the opening address to the rally, which has over 30,000 in attendance, Ms Ariete gave an official statement on the status of the territory of Domavia and its southern province, Emona.

Over the past several days to a week, Emona has been seeing Surban nationalist revolts and protests, especially one that has been well publicized in the country, the riots of Tarsactica. What was a peaceful protest against Desla Ahneranian intervention in the state of Terolk quickly turned into a rally as Surban nationals arrived bearing makeshift shields and projectiles. The Emona Guard had to be called in, and the protest became an immensely violent riot with 157 rioters dead, 12 police, and 2 Guards.

The Foreign Minister of Lovarium joined her counterpart, Foreign Minister of Cordenum, Jamis Medicus, in demanding a state of emergency in Emona and martial law. In her statement, she also said that she "strongly oppose[s] the actions of FRPL Foreign Minister Pietro Allierè in beginning the recognition process for Terolk", and has demanded the national government to militarize Domavia against Surban nationalist aggression. Later, Mr Medicus gave his own speech shortly after Ms Ariete's, and called for stronger measures, and added that "if the federal government does not act, then we will".

Numerous protests have sprung up in Campagno, Marche, and Salecia to support the bid for Terolk's independence, and in Emona, there have been some appearances of independence groups that call for Domavia to declare its own independence from the Federal Republic. It is highly likely that the FRPL government will come to a standstill on the subject of national defense, and Lovarii troops may constitute the majority of delegated martial law police in Domavia, if a state of emergency is indeed declared.

PREIVA ATTACKS SURBAN CAPITAL, SCORES KILLED


Surban Capital Suburb After Preivan Bombing

Minutes ago, Preiva, a nation with no cause to join the Surban War for Independence, bombed the Surban Captial city, killing scores of civilians and, as some residents said, "Left no building unscathed."

President Padelaski took to the microphone and made a damning statement to the Preivans.

"Minutes ago, Preiva attacked a populated city with no provocation, very small amounts of military targets, and left the city in pieces. This unexpected and horrendous act of aggression by the Preivans is not only foolhardy and morally wrong, but is one that we, as a nation cannot allow. As of this moment, All of the Surban Republic is declared a no-fly-zone to all aircraft except for the assets of the Surban Republic. Any aircraft deemed hostile to the Surban Republic shall be met with with force by both the Naval and Air Forces of Ventlimer. This will not include the Free State of Terolk and is meant solely to protect the lives of the civilians who had no say in the negotiations that led to this war."

The news came as the Ventlimian Presidential Debate began in Bentlaria, prompting a question by the moderator.

"The President just put out a statement creating a no-fly-zone over the Surban Republic after Preiva attacked a large civilian population in the capital of the Surban Republic. How do you think Ventlimer should respond and is this the right move?"

Nationalist Candidate Bruno Biagio was the first to answer. "I believe that while it is not our business to aid violent regimes who refuse to accept reasonable peace offers, that it is also in our best interest to make an example of this situation. We cannot allow other nations to butt in where they are not involved already. The no-fly-zone was the way to go in this situation simply because we must enforce the principles of Self-determination and sovereignty. On top of that, many civilians were killed for no reason. We must defend those civilians as they are the victims of this war, not its cause."

The Democratic candidate agreed, but the Libertarian did not.

"We must stay out of this conflict! It is not our business to decide a nations fate, or to start a war over another nation's loss. The best way to punish Preiva is with economic sanctions."

Regardless, the planes have begun to fly and the Navy is on High alert, watching the skies.

Aberdeen condemns Preivan attack, demands sanctions

YULZA - In response to a recent and unprovoked attack by the Preivan military on the Surban Republic capital of Hayr, President John Francis Aberdeen has vociferously condemned the assault and has made a call for the Senate to adopt punitive economic sanctions against Preiva.

Speaking at 5 Palmer Street moments ago, Aberdeen described the attacks as "barbaric and uncouth, with a complete and total disregard for fellow mankind." The attack was largely directed against civilian targets, with few military targets bombed during the event and death tolls suspected to at least be in the hundreds as a preliminary estimate.

In addition to "a complete embargo" on Preivan goods to be instated "as soon as is possible", Aberdeen also called for whatever assets held by Preivan government officials and companies with Parsalian banks to be "immediately frozen". The Senate, being the only house of Parliament in session at the moment due to the ongoing House of Representatives electoral campaign, will be solely responsible for approving or denying sanctions to be levied against Preiva, and is expected to meet about the situation beginning this evening at 19:00 local time (4:00 UTC).

The leaders of the major political parties all expressed scorn towards the Preivan government and outrage towards the bombing. Republican Party leader Maritza Petroche Emery tweeted, "My heart goes out to the victims of this heinous bombing. I support President Aberdeen's call to respond economically to this atrocity." Labour Party leader Stephen Grundman-Ashkar also posted a tweet, saying "The Preivan head officials must be tried for war crimes at some point. Justice for this atrocity must mean a #freesurban." Democratic Party leader Milos Petrosian also tweeted "The real losers in this fight are the Surbanians themselves. We need #surbanpeace. My condolences to all affected by this terrorist act", while his cohort Nicola Clare-Royal called for "a bipartisan effort between the majority and opposition in the Senate to respond to Preivan aggression."

In response to the Ventlimerian no-fly zone, Aberdeen said that he would try to contact the Ventlimerian government to see if Parsalian Armed Forces could deliver humanitarian aid to the Terolk/Surban zone to "the thousands of people that will so desperately need it in this situation."

TARSACTICA – Recently the capital of the Surban Republic has been bombed by the United Republic of Preiva in an unprecedented act of violence. The act has since been condemned by other nations, as well as FRPL President Nero Magellan, Campagno Governor Giuseppe Molino, Brindisi Governor Stefano Visconti, and Palermitani Governor Aldo Basielle. Other Governors have not made comments or official reports yet, but common words uttered so far have described the attack as "deplorabe", "horrendous", and "unspeakable, and they vowed to "take appropriate action", which might include sanctions.

Even more recently, however, a civilian plane was shot down by a ground-to-air missile over Tarsactica, Emona, in the Territory of Domavia. The plane is believed to have been distributing pamphlets instigating revolt in the name of the Surban Republic, calling for an united effort to legitimize the Surban peoples in Domavia. The person in command of the Emona Regional Military Base gave the order to shoot down the aircraft, citing the need to defend his jurisdiction, and drew upon the fact that the craft had come out of a no fly zone. Such a craft, he reasoned, "had no other reason to be in Campagno other than to attack us or bring misfortune upon our people".

Some analysts are saying that the shooting-down might have been the wrong thing to do, since the combined events of the pamphlets and the aircraft's destruction provoked riots across Tarsactica, with an estimated $750,000 in damages so far, and the riots are expected to continue through the night. Analysts are also questioning the placement and motives of the Brigadier General in a predominantly Southern Union military base, since the BG is a Lovarii native. However, such questions are put on hold until a formal investigation is completed.

BREAKING: PREIVA REPORTS ON ALLEGATIONS

Tom Yates, the Prime Minister on Preiva, has reported on the allegations surrounding the Preivan airstrikes on the Surban capital. Of the airstrikes, he said the following:

"First of all, I want to make it clear that the general who authorized these bombardments has been seriously reprimanded. He has been detained and his fate will be decided in a court hearing on Tuesday. I, frankly, am ashamed to be part of a culture where such ideologies are so plentiful. We have always strived for pacifism and kindness in our great nation and these airstrikes have likely destroyed all of that. From this moment forward we will be looked at as terrorists, as a threat to national security. And I am appalled that the general's actions could come to that.

"As a result of this, I will put a few things into motion. First of all, I will command the army from this moment forward, as it seems that a general can not be trusted to be peaceful. Second, we will withdraw from any role in the military conflict, except to provide humanitarian aid to the victims of war through money, food, water and shelter. Third, we have withdrawn from the Trade Conference, in order to deal with some... *ahem* internal issues. Finally, we will give the Surban government $100 billion to assist the 120,000 who were displaced in the bombardments, along with humanitarian aid workers to provide food, water and shelter until they can be resettled.

"However, I would like to make a point that some of the allegations are being exaggerated. The general was wise enough not to target any residential sectors, and only the Center Block of buildings were destroyed, which are mostly government-related hubs. Though I can see the method to the general's madness in what he was trying to achieve, this is a travesty of the highest degree, something we as a nation will not stand for. Our proud land should be built on the promise of peace, not the worry of war. Thank you."

After the attacks that took many lives on Wednesday evening, Ventlimer has instituted a no-fly zone over the Surban Republic in an effort to keep other nations from doing the same thing Preiva did. Today, the Secretary of State announced the first attack against an aircraft that violated the no-fly zone.

"Last night, at approximately 11 PM Local time, Ventlimian aircraft engaged and destroyed an unknown Military Transport. Let this be a sign to other nations who wish to violate the No-Fly zone that we will meet our words with force. Any attempt to enter the Surban Airspace should be approved first by the Surban Republic, then by us."

President makes shock announcement!

Standing in what remained of the Old Square, Interim President Davit Lavrov dressed in a manner uncharacteristic of him. Wearing a black trench coat, he looked as though all the grief in the world had hit him in a single moment. He brought with him a sheet of paper, however his hands shook too much for him to hold it. He began to speak;

People of Surban and other delegates... I'm sure we are aware of this...this... act of criminal barbarity against innocent civilians whose crime was simply being a member of a state that wished to be free!

He slammed his fist on the podium, his voice shaky at best. He brought his hand up to his eyes, wiping them with his thumb;

This attack cannot be supported, no mass murderer or anti-war fool could do so. The defence offered by the perpetrators, that no residential areas had been hit, is a lie! This criminal attack destroyed much of the Old Town, killing men, women and children indiscriminately...I...

His voice failed him again, the normally outspoken and loud voiced Davit had seemingly crumbled after last nights attacks;

"I will admit to you all something. My son was lost in this bombing. Him, and his family. Killed while walking home in a residential area. To make the situation worse, our entire emergency service program is swamped. We had placed our services in the border cities between Surban and 'Terolk' in anticipation of fighting to occur in these cities. Hayr still burns, yet we can do nothing as we cannot do anything. I feel an enormous weight on my shoulders, from which I am unable to properly resist. It is with this that my Government have accepted the creation of a temporary cease-fire between Surban and Desla-Ahnerania, lasting long enough for the reasoning for this to be uncovered, the lives of those lost in the barbaric attack mourned and properly buried, food and aid to be delivered to those affected by this heartless attack and for the city of Hayr to be restored.

This city is one of the oldest to exist in the world, and, in an instant, much of its history, many of it priceless, has been destroyed and replaced with ugly scars. The Surban people shall never stand for this. Justice is demanded by us and we hope to God that the culprit is found before we find him, for the sake of the culprit.

Davit went on to urge the Ventlimer Government, who had made a no-fly zone over the country, to allow foreign planes with aid access to the country, so that the citizens cannot be deprived of supplies the government cannot give.

"As 'King of the Kingdom of Desla-Ahnerania, King of Terolk, Sovereign of the Deslani People, Sovereign of the Ahneranian People, Sovereign of the Terolkian People, Emperor of Central Acordia,' I stand for my governments in Desla-Ahnerania and Terolk as their respective sovereigns. I also embody and hold pride of the goals of my governments in the war against Surban. Yet again, they (Surban) do not recognize me anymore as their king but I recognize them until now as my people.

"For just a year, I have reigned King of Terolk and Desla-Ahnerania. For 16 years I spent my life as a Terolkian and a Desla-Ahneranian. In five years within that time, I learned the differences between the faith I held and the faith of Terolkians and Desla-Ahneranians. I felt unjustly wrong two years later, causing me to stray from my Catholic faith and as it is still now. Faith should not be the cause and consequence of conflicts. It should be the bonding determinant of all peoples of our world.

"I have learned the hardships experienced by the people of Terolk under their government. Annually, since the start of my late father's reign two thousand Terolkians are arrested for cases involving 'damage to property,' 'public violence,' 'murder,' 'dishonouring law enforcement,' and 'mass looting.' I do not see a people of criminals, I saw a people of desperation, poor and downtrodden. I cannot blame my former government in Terolk, Whitesbridge. Nor could I blame the people of Surban and Terolk who made their choice.

"Truth be told, I never held the destiny of any of my fellow citizens. The choice was always yours, people of Terolk and Surban. It never belong to me, not endowed by the Church in my coronation, not given to me by god, but it was granted to you all by my ancestors who taught better than my less gracious and reasonable predecessors.

"What the United Republic of Preiva did to my people in Hayr cannot be simply forgiven. They destroyed a defenceless city and crippled an entire nation. They killed men, women, and children without regard for concern. There is no excuse, and that is no insubordination. A nation unable to rein in its soldiers and planes then they are no nation, they would be a joke and one that will disgrace and stain the name of their united republic.

"My armed forces live by the words of "dignity, honour, and respect." They will fight but they cannot tolerate at all costs the loss of civilian lives. They cannot harm or touch even a civilian or anything else that would violate their will and endanger their life, even if this person is one of our enemy's people. As my forces advanced in Surban we have evacuated citizens at a safe distance from areas of conflict, we cannot let them live in a state of extreme danger. Administrative government units of occupied towns and villages were left to their posts as if it were a normal as any other day.

"I received news a day ago that Vilsrath Hall was one of the targets of the Preivan air force. Half of Vilsrath Hall was burned and torn to the ground. I have lost Missus Voiculet, Missus Olinescu, Miss Trelles, Miss Saguna, Miss Unescu, Mister Pavelenco, Mister Petri, Mister Presecan, and Sergeant Raducan. They were detained at the Hall because they were simple its staff, their superiors were lucky to have been detained elsewhere. They were my family. I weep not only because of their departure from this Earth but it is due to the fact that I failed to greet and see them for the last time during the first set of negotiations a week ago.

"Me and my wife pledge to send aid and support to those who suffered in Hayr and we would like to this in honour of my departed family.

"We will stand and hold hands together with the people of Surban against the odds imposed to us by the existing state of war, me and my wife will pray for the Surban Republic, all that has been lost, and to those who endlessly sought peace with their hearts. Bless us all."

President Padeleski Sends Letter to Desla-Ahnerania Embassy Asking the Embassy to close

In an announcement by the Palace this morning, Ventlimer will be asking Desla-Ahnerania to close its embassy in Venler and to have its staff leave in by June 19th, 2016, citing hostile relations with the foreign nation. The move has been blasted by members of Congress, but will go through none the less. Libertarian Candidate Nathanial Ventlishi said that it was a sorely misguided move by the President, and "One that would take months of diplomacy to repair."

Other Candidates have yet to put out a statement, but will probably have the same sentiments as Mr. Ventlishi.

BREAKING: AAS Congress Of Dignitaries Condemns Preiva, Council Of Peacekeeping Imposes Sanctions

The Assembly of Admayoran States collectively denounced the United Republic of Preiva following its bombing massacre in Hayr, the Republic of Surban. No estimate of how many has been killed but landmarks such as the State Legislature Building, Saint Surban's Square, the National Museum of Terolk, the National Constabulary Building, the National Post Office Building, the Royal Archives of Terolk, Vilsrath Hall, and many more were mostly desecrated and some were destroyed beyond recognition. The Congress of Dignitaries condemned Preiva in a unanimous vote, with the abstention of Preiva. The Council of Peacekeeping cancelled the AAS Summit of World Leaders that was supposed to take place in Preiva on June 12 this year, new location yet to be revealed. The Council barred Preiva from interacting with the World Bank, the World Space Agency, and the International Commission on Economy and Trade unless the country is in dire need of any of these organizations' support and advice. Several more specified bans in tourism services, sea merchant trade, and military arms and ordnance. Oversight on the exchange of goods and technology, telecommunications, and energy are in place.

BREAKING: Desla-Ahneranian Diplomatic Mission To Ventlimer Withdrawn

The Prime Minister has recalled His Majesty's Ambassador to Ventlimer and the rest of the Embassy of Desla-Ahnerania in Venler following the President of Ventlimer's, Edward Padeleski's, "request," to (according to Ventlimian Public Broadcasting) "close its embassy in Venler and to have its staff leave in by June 19th, 2016, citing hostile relations with the foreign nation." (Desla-Ahnerania) Wilam Riters stated in a press conference this afternoon that he is disappointed with President Padeleski and concerned to have witnessed the failure of Ventlimian democracy as demonstrated through the inability of the Congress of Ventlimer to counter the President's wishes in spite of the majority being strong in opposition against the decision. "Dark days are ahead for Ventlimer and its democracy. Besides our concern for the conflict in Surban and Terolk we must not forget, even in times of war, the people. It is clear that congress (Ventilimian congress) concluded that the President's move on diplomatic relations with my country is wrong, sadly it's too late. The damage has been done. We although will not be unreasonable or indignant like our friends in the northwest of our Poluostrvo peninsula, their diplomatic mission and diplomacy in our country will not be treated as it was in their country." Riters said. Memorandums are to be issued to consulates to inform of what will happen now and to reassure Desla-Ahneranians in Ventlimer.

BREAKING: Desla-Ahnerania Doesn't Boycott Venler Free Trade Conference?

In spite of the disposition of the Armed Republic of Ventlimer on the Kingdom of Desla-Ahnerania, the Government of Desla-Ahnerania refuses to retaliate and regard the Ventlimian Embassy in Erdlamn the same way the Ventlimians did to the Desla-Ahneranian Embassy in Venler. The government also avoided the chance of boycotting the Free Trade Conference in Venler but the Ambassador of the Kingdom to Ventlimer, Sobieslaw Wolinsk, rejected the invitation of the Ventlimian Government to attend and participate in the Free Trade Conference. Prime Minister did say earlier that "we although will not be unreasonable or indignant like our friends in the northwest of our Poluostrvo peninsula." Political analysts however argue that it is so because it already is. Several of them said that the rejection of Ambassador Wolinsk's Venler Free Trade Conference invitation effectively made it clear that the Kingdom will boycott the free trade conference, regardless if it was publicly announced by government themselves or not. And so they claim it exists by de facto.

Andenisia Airlines Jet crashed near Santan: Conspiracy theorists triggered

KALMIRA, (20/3/16) - A Boeing 737-800 operated by national carrier Andenisia Airlines crashed near Santan Airport shortly after takeoff at Saturday (19/3/16), killing 138 passengers and crew on board the airliner. The National Aviation Authority (NAA) has revealed that the plane plummeted into the ground after stalling in bad weather conditions.

The Civil Defence Corps Search and Rescue Brigade were dispatched to the crash site to retrieve the wreckage and most importantly the plane's flight data recorder (FDR) and cockpit voice recorder (CVR), more commonly known as the black box. The two devices were discovered by CDCSAR yesterday evening and has been studied by officials at the NAA.

The disaster triggered many conspirators to believe that the NAA, and the Andenisian government in general, was feeding false information. Some theorists believe that the Air Force is experimenting a new air-to-air missile model, which has been recently revealed to the public. However, Information Minister Ruli Khoir in a press release insists that "Absolutely no missiles were involved in the crash. The investigators at the NAA are however, still looking for the definite answer."

Marshall General Olek Gogorov responds to the recent events in the Surban Republic

Kevedsta- In a press conference that included foreign new reporting agencies, the Marshall General of the Combined Arms, Olek Gogorov, stated that he was in favor of a cease-fire agreement. He said, "I do not foresee this war coming to anything good. While the good people of Surban are fighting against liberalism and promoting the goodness of nationalism, the war will continue to desolate the country side of both nations, and cause more harm than good. It is best that this issue is resolved by mutual agreement, not by show of force." This comes in direct correlation with the Worker's Republic recently joining the AAS after years of self-isolation from international bodies. Marshall General Gogorov stated in his annual Worker's Republic address at the steps of the Council Command Building in downtown Kevedsta that he is willing to work with other nations to bring about "peaceful revolution in other nations". Some interpret this to be the that the Marshall General is backing down on his statements of worldwide revolution; however, the Worker's of the Republic know that he is fully pledged to the cause, only that the Marshall General sees the benefits of convincing the populaces of the world of Neoarmism through a shining example of Greater Allidron. Surban Republic declares end to Cease-Fire

WIn a move of either incredible bravery or political suicide, the Interim Government of the Surban Republic has announced the immediate cessation of the Surban-Confederation Cease-Fire. All that seems good, until reports began filing in about a seemingly massive advance across most of the border between the Surban Republic and Surban Terolk. It has become increasingly clear that this assault was pre-planned during the Weeks of Peace, however it has come to an almost unpredictable stop.

Previously besieged and conquered towns like Checni and Groz being quickly seized by the 'Lightning Strike', albeit with high numbers of casualties. It is thought that during the weeks both before and following the Cease-Fire, the industrial heart of the Surban Republic had been churning out tanks, guns and planes for soldiers on the front. The unprecedented success of the bond-buying has allowed the Surban Interim Government to fund this armament, while also conscripting thousands of civilians, male and female, who weren't employed in jobs deemed as 'Important top the Survival of the State' or merely unemployed.

Because of the large scale unemployment that existed during the Surban Republics' tenure as the 'Free State of Terolk' allowed the government to conscript heavy numbers of soldiers, as well as placing many in factories to power the army. There have been some protests by pacifists and left-wing groups against the forced enlistment and forced employment, however they have been few and far between as the Surban People have been gripped in a seemingly incurable bout of Nationalism and Patriotism, with many displays of devotion to the state being reported, however anything that seems close to Desla-Ahneranian has been either vandalised or burnt. Oddly enough, the sign that reads 'Queen Anelida, The Whore' has been left alone, possibly because it insults Desla-Ahnerania, rather than represent.

The Armies of the Surban Republic have reported great successes in combat against Desla-Ahneranian forces, with the main contributer to these successes being labelled as the pure unexpectedness and audacity of the move, as well as a combination of fighting skill and bravery. Several Desla-Ahneranian forces had been caught so unprepared, they had surrendered almost immediately upon seeing Surban Soldiers assaulting an objective.

The General Staff has also confirmed that the Armies have struck into North-Eastern Surban/Surban Terolk/Free State of Terolk, and have seized several key towns and villages, allowing for Surban forces to further capitalise on the successes.

BREAKING: The Kingdom Enraged By Surban Cease Of Temporal Peace

The Parliament of Desla-Ahnerania made a statement that disclosed that they were appalled of the Interim Government of Surban Terolk's surprise attack on Desla-Ahnerania soldiers who were unprepared and not expecting a fight, endlessly waiting for a concluding end to the conflict that was supposed to be withheld from continuing. The cease-fire agreement made between parliament and the interim government was to further give way for talks and investigation on the Hayr Bombing Massacre. The Prime Minister has called the "'Lightning Strike," which lacked tolerance over the lives of civilians and servicemen, an act of "deliberate dishonour that is as cowardly as the Preivan siege of Hayr" on last week's Thursday. The Surban attack gave back Groz and Checni under their control. The Central Acordian Commonwealth Expeditionary Forces Command promised to return Surban Terolk's overly reaffirmed treachery with their upcoming issuance of new "bolder" and "effective" rules in engagement.

Surban Conflict Continues

Conflict has renewed in Surban/Terolk as the Surban Army began offensive operations shortly after announcing the Cease-Fire's end. Generals on the border stated that "The Surbans have made great advances into the Free State of Terolk."

The Chief of staff made a statement as well, saying that "The No-fly zone would continue despite renewed conflict unless the Surban Republic, which is the rightful government and name, requests that Ventlimian Air Forces withdraw."
