Nation Name: Republic of Korea
Head of State: President Park Geun-hye
Head of Government: President Park Geun-hye
Government Form: Unitary presidential constitutional republic
Ideology: Center-right, conservative.
Foreign Policy: Hopes to maintain good relations with its ally the United States and with countries of the EU. Despite attempts at reconciliation, relations with North Korea are still tense and unstable and due to the fallout of Japanese actions in WW2, relations with Japan can still be strained. Has and seeks many trade deals and economic agreements with other countries, in particular the US and European nations.
Civil Freedoms /10: 8
Political Freedoms /10: 8
Economic Freedoms /10: 9
Military Size: 625,000 active / 2,900,000 reserve
Military Description: Due to the tense political climate on the Korean peninsula, defense has been one of the key issues for the South Korean government. As a result, South Korean males serve a compulsory period of 21 months in the military and the defense budget and number of troops is usually high. The South Korean military is relatively well-trained and advanced and fields its own indigenous equipment as well as American supplied gear. Currently, there are around 2,500 tanks, 2,700 armored fighting vehicles, 5,800 artillery pieces and 552 aircraft, mainly licensed-built American helicopters. The backbone of the Korean army's tanks are modern K1, K1A1 and K2 tanks yet there is a good number of around 800 older M-48 Pattons also in service. The Korean Air Force is also relatively advanced and fields 840 aircraft, including the F-15, KF-16 (Korean version of the F-16) and the locally produced F/A-50. Meanwhile, the Korean navy consists of 190 vessels, mainly patrol vessels but also including 1 flagship Amphibious assault ship, 22 destroyers and frigates and 12 submarines.
Description of Your Nation's Economy: South Korea maintains the world's 13th largest and one of the most advanced and industrialized economies. Average income is among the highest in Asia and it can boast a highly educated workforce. South Korea is heavily dependent on international trade and is one the world's largest manufacturers of technological goods such as computer memory chips, LCD and OLED display screens. It is also a major exporter of ships, cars and a large construction industry responsible for some of the world's tallest buildings.
Description of Your Nation's Government: Like many democratic countries, power is divided among three different branches of government: the executive, judicial and legislative branches. Local governments are also semi-autonomous and have their own executive and legislative bodies.
Goals for the Nation:
Short Term:
1. Continue to maintain economic growth and security
2. Secure defense situation and ensure a capable military
Long Term:
1. Find a long-term solution to the North-South Korea divide
2. Improve relations with other Asian powers such as China and Japan
Why'd you choose this nation?: Seems like an interesting region that I haven't focused on a lot before.
RP Sample: A little post from a similar RP back in 2014!

If that's the case, could you put a rebel/terrorist app in the OP? I was thinking of being the March 14 Alliance, if that would be acceptable.Hjallaland wrote: We will all play a government of a nation or, if one likes to, a rebel/terrorist organization.

Well as the name suggests, its an Alliance of various militia's and other groups. I'd suggest you pick one militia as even those in the March 14 Alliance have various views on matters that conflict with eachother.
As for an application format, the current format can be used for militia's aswell. Just consider government stuff as leadership stuff and economic stuff as where your money comes from ect.

Nation Name: República de Cuba
Head of State: Raul Castro
Head of Government Raul Castro
Government Form: Marxist–Leninist one-party republic
Ideology: Communism/Socialism
Foreign Policy: Cuba is mostly friendly towards nations that still have communist or socialist views, such as China and Russia, and they are also active in sending medical aid to countries in Africa, though it always depends on foreign nations.
Civil Freedoms /10: 5
Political Freedoms /10: 4
Economic Freedoms /10:2
Military Size: 49,000/39,000
Military Description: The DIA reported in 1998 that the country's paramilitary organizations, the Territorial Militia Troops, the Youth Labor Army, and the Naval Militia had suffered considerable morale and training degradation over the previous seven years but still retained the potential to make an enemy invasion costly. Most of the equipment is from the Soviet Union, so it is pretty outdated equipment. The main suppliers, besides the domestic company named Union de Industrias Militares, are Russia and North Korea
Organizations: Well, I don't really have anything to put here, really. Sorry.
Description of Your Nation's Economy: Cuba has a fixed economy and a planned economy, with the economy mostly being controlled by state-run enterprises, so the Cuban government oversees the entire economy. Corruption is common, but it is said to be lower than other countries in Latin America
Description of Your Nation's Government: Well, it's kind of like a dictatorship, really. Fidel Castro and his brother, Raul Castro have basically ruled the nation since the communist revolution there. Due to this, you could just say that it's been ruled by one family since the Communist Revolution. It's communist and follows most communist views, of course.
Goals for the Nation: Short term goals are just to build up power and maybe influence some other nations in the Caribbean. It's long term goals are to spread Communism to other nations, either by force or by some other actions.
Why'd you choose this nation?: Well, I wanted to choose Libya at first, but I had some problems with that, and then my reservation ran out. Not wanting to pick Libya and have the same problems once more, I decided that having a communist nation would be interesting, but I didn't want China and I believe Russia was taken. Vietnam and Laos seemed interesting, but what better to be Communist in North America? Plus it would be fun to try and increase communist influence in North America while America might loom over me and say "No, no communism for you"
RP Sample:http://forum.nationstates.net/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=369124 There's one specifically for Nations. I could give you a better one if you want. Still not used to playing an entity/nation instead of a character, but I'm getting the hang of it

I think that applies to most countries too. No government has had a 100% agreement rate (except ones that banned dissent), but if you say so. As for going for just one paramilitary, I would go for the Lebanese Forces, but I don't think they have an active military wing at the moment, excepting their bodyguards and security staff; Would it be okay to play as the non-militarized party, and build a paramilitary up, since they used to have one?

RP SAMPLE: (Below is my intro to an RP I created the other day.)
~1865
The Civil War is over and months later the the massive Rains Railroad Company owned by none other than the east coast suit wearing fat cat Thaddeus Rains is buying up land in Arkansas,Missouri, and Texas. However the Rains Railroad is not at all being fair about their business, offering only two dollars an acre to the local farmers and businessmen and those who have turned down these preposterous "deals" have been found either dead or their homes and business burned to the ground.
One particular town that is suffering from these attacks is a small place in southern Missouri named Brimstone,a cozy hamlet surrounded by farms and ranches.
Six local farms have already been torched and two men and a woman gunned down, and,in response to the local outrage, threats and protests Thaddeus Rains has hired none other than Secret Service founder Allen Pinkerton and his detective corp,as well as requested an army garrison be placed in Brimstone to discourage local insurgency or further protest.
He also saw that a posse of US Marshals be brought in as well to to further insure that no local insurrection comes to fruition and, also, hopes the combined pressure of Pinkerton, the Army, the Marshalls, and his continued attacks will cause the locals to give way and settle for his cheapskate deals.
However little does he know that the more he tightens his grip the more restless and angered the locals will become.
One such man is a Civil War veteran named James Welsh, who's own farm was one of the six that was most recently burned to the ground and all of his cattle rustled, leaving him penniless and homeless, something he will see Rains and his company pay for dearly with the help of locals who are equally sick of Rains and his oppression.Men willing to turn their back to the law to do what they believe right...[/i]

It looks decent though i'd like to see a RP sample first. You can write down your first post if you don't have any previous RP's you've participated in.
Could you tone down the numbers of full time soldiers? Considering they don't have a real militia yet 10,000 full time soldiers is a bit much.
Estimates on Hezbollah's full time soldiers go between 1.000 and 5.000 and its by far the most powerful militia in Lebanon at this point.
Aside from that it looks pretty solid.Caermine wrote:Reserve Turkey
