It's also freakin' foolish because there is no scientific basis for race existing. The categories vary hugely depending on who you ask, and there's no real difference between different populations other than physical cosmetic stuff like skin colour and face shape.

I'm a cracker and I live in the U.S. My race is particularly predisposed to employment, education and earning in my country. Asians have us beat on that though.
I feel americans of African descent, some of them atleast in my anecdotal experience, have somewhat of an inferiority complex and are particularly sensitive to perceived racial issues.

I am caucasoid, but I'm ethnically Irish. An identification that probably pisses "real Irish" off because my nationality is American.

In the past, being Irish or German american had real weight and the communities were more distinct. They still are in many areas, but since whites are becoming a minority in the United States, ethnic differences between whites has lost its importance from back when Irish people werent even considered "white".

I'm Caucasian, and Irish and English ethnically. As far as issues, I don't concern myself with them. I don't see myself as inherently better or worse than anyone else, and find the whole need to feel attached to one's race as if it holds some necessary importance as divisive and impudent. I have the same feelings towards ethnicity, and nationality. I base my judgement off of people's character and their behaviour, I give zero fucks about what your genetic make-up or skin colour is, and I pride myself in trying very hard to not over-generalise in my experiences with good people and pricks alike.

Not to mention the fact that one's skin colour is just determined by evolutionary genetic mutation due to regional drift from the equator. Ergo, lighter skin people closer to the poles where solar radiation is less, and darker skinned people closer to the equator where solar radiation is much stronger. It's an evolutionary defence against abnormal mutation caused by the sun's radiation to avoid potentially damaging and malignant mutations from occurring in cells and causing diseases like cancer. Nothing more.
