Transsexuals are pretty much all transgender people. Just with a desire, or having had, SRS.

That is inaccurate.
DSM used the term "Gender Identity Disorder", not 'transgenderism', before renaming and recategorising it in DSM V. It is now referred to as "Gender Dysphoria".
DSM V actually lists hormone replacement and sex reassignment as treatment options...

The re-naming did not alter the treatment, and was done because of the stigma associated with the term "disorder".

Not all the world uses DSM V. Much of it uses ICD 10, which has a corresponding diagnosis of "transsexualism" which is defined as "A desire to live and be accepted as a member of the opposite sex, usually accompanied by a sense of discomfort with, or inappropriateness of, one's anatomic sex, and a wish to have surgery and hormonal treatment to make one's body as congruent as possible with one's preferred sex". As I understand it, the treatment prescribed is generally psychotherapy combined with biological treatments.

What was the rationale for changing that? I can understand the rationale for not considering homosexuality to be abnormal because it is quite common in nature. Where is the evidence that transgenderism is something to be considered normal?

Sad, really. But right wing parodies are becoming increasingly popular in real life. Especially with the rise of extreme right parties in Europe and the direction of the Republican Party
