Welcome to After the Great War V- The Dawn of A Despot. For those of you whom have not been involved in the previous 4 installments, After The Great War V- The Dawn of A Despot is a RP that is the fifth installment of a highly-successful series of RPs that started in April of 2015 and took place in a post-WW2 era. After The Great War series RPs have had well over 10,000 posts combined up until this installment, and are one of if not the most successful RP series in P2TM.
We have decided upon a reboot of the series and for it to occur in 1936, as the stage is set for World War II! This is the very first prequel in the AFTGW series. Old and new members are invited to begin anew this most wonderful RP series! This RP will begin as was historically true, what with the same leaders, nations, and governments as were present in 1936; however, as the game progresses you may make what ever changes you like (albeit within reason).
Here is the global situation thus far in the year 1936: Germany, now the world's second-leading power, under a new and visionary leader, is quickly rebuilding itself from its horrendous defeat back in WW1 and is likely to start anew a conflict with its old enemies. The Japanese Empire, now the third-largest power, is now firmly under the control of the militarists and has been expanding its' influence all across Asia.
The Soviet Union is going through an incredibly dark time, what with Stalin's paranoia reaching an all time high, and with the progress of the socialist cause trampling all other concerns. In the United States, under the beloved President Roosevelt, the effects of the great depression are slowly going away, but are still everpresent. With growing tensions abroad, many in America fear for the worst.
In China, the once great empire is now in a state of national emergency; constant civil war, corruption, and the ever present Japanese giant in the North are all working away at the nations incredible fragile base. In the British Empire, the world's leading power at this time, fears are growing in every crevice of society at the thought of fascist forces uniting to seize every colony in their global empire.
In France, the people are both battered and terrified at the same time. Massive initiatives are being taken by the French government in attempts to thwart any German offensive that may occur against them and avoid the horrors of the last war.
With rising tensions across the world, what will your fair nation do to survive the inevitable coming onslaught? Will you fall and burn as so many others will? Or, will you rise from the ashes of the old world to be a super power in the new? That future is up to you.
