"Well, actually its Little Darby Island, officially. Its owned by a private owner, and was not included in the sale when we purchased Darby Island, which we now call Salderia. The Ministry of Defense has plans of invading and capturing it. It would not be hard since no one lives there, and it is a short way across the water." He pulled up his briefcase and looked into it. "Let me see if I have a picture..." he muttered to himself. Lowe took out her phone and called up a picture on the Internet. "Here, the larger island is Salderia; the one in the back is Little Darby." she said as she handed the phone over to Phyrexus.

The Speaker examined the image before handing the phone back to Lowe.
"Wait, it's a private island? We could buy that for your people. With the amount we make in tax revenue and tariffs, we should be able to take care of that with ease. How much was it? Should be a cinch."

"We actually thought about purchasing it oursleves, not that we had the money," replied Lowe. "However, when I got into contact with the owner, a Mr. Trevor Jameson, he said it was not for sale, not that he ever uses it. If we had it, it could support a decent sized military base, according to our Military Commandants."

"Well, we could plant military forces there until he gives up. It's not as if he can do much against a military base, and that would result in minimal bloodshed."

This time offer him two times what the island is worth, I think the nations here would be willing to chip some money in, since it may give us a strategic military base."

"Minister Klunsten has a point. If we are to take a man's property, we are no better than imperialists. We find the value of the island, we each put in a share of, say, thrice the original cost, and go from there."

Salderia wrote:Lowe smiled at the Captain's reply "Thank you very much Mr. Simmons!" Sisko tried to smile, though he struggled. He felt his pride had been hurt by the accusations of him stooping down to bribery. Sisko didn't see it that way, he saw it as a legitimate purchase of land. Grudgingly, he finally let out a smile, but it felt too forced to him. "Thank you...sir" he managed to choke out. Lowe shot Sisko a dirty glance. A scientist by profession, he was no diplomat. Sisko felt most comfortable in a simulated "Hot Zone" with extremely deadly diseases.
Lowe, on the other hand, was a political science major, and achieved her masters in it as well. She understood people better, and was able to act gracious to others, even when she did not feel that way. Now she was thinking about how to answer Simmons's questions, but before she could answer, Sisko said "Mr. Simmons, the man in question got his wealth by exploiting the common man. He's on the board of directors for Gauro Corp, a shoe manufacturer." Oh great, his Red is showing! thought Lowe. "Companies like Nike and Reebok sub contract to his company for cheaper prices. Many of their factories are in NICs and LDCs, where labor is much cheaper. And he gets more money for sitting at a desk all day than those in the sweatshops."
Lowe cut in "Technically, he got it all legitimately, as far as we can tell. However, being a micro-country, with limited resources, we could not make a full background check. As for nationality, Mr. Jameson is from Canada."

“In the practical art of war, the best thing of all is to take the enemy's country whole and intact; to shatter and destroy it is not so good. So, too, it is better to recapture an army entire than to destroy it, to capture a regiment, a detachment or a company entire than to destroy them. Hence to fight and conquer in all your battles is not supreme excellence; supreme excellence consists in breaking the enemy's resistance without fighting.”-Sun Tzu
