I think this is the fear people have over the 'one-region' theory. You will by default get...the darkness creeping in. There'll always be one guy who claims he is going to nuke the earth, or fire a Death Star at the Sun, or something insane, and then everyone either has to ignore it and try to deal with the canon mess and confusion it sparks, or else be dragged into a war against the 'Darth Vaderian Empire' or the 'Fifth Nazi Reich' or something stupid

Yes, but it isn't fun only because nobody think it's fun so they won't devote any time to it. If they thought it was fun and devoted some time to it then it would be fun because they'd have made it fun together. That's how society works (or doesn't): people work together (or don't) to create something useful, like fun.
I don't know what sort of argument that is, but I call it argumentum ad stock market liquidity - they run (or don't) on the same principle.

So some people would rather ignore the rest of NS and interact in an established world because the NS world is innately absurd. Even if you were to ignore those who use NS pops, you still have those with ridiculous "pop-caps" of upwards of two billion [with a GDP of capita of like, 67,000, or something], tens of thousands of other nations, and no real consistency.
Not everybody RPs the same way you do, L&A, and not everybody wants the same things you want, and your idea of a good RP community or world is certainly not universal or even necessarily right, unless, of course, you wish to suggest that dozens of other people are actually doing free-form RP wrong.

That doesn't mean it's sensible to cut every other region off.
In any society, normally people can work together to achieve a compromise - which can be remarkably effective.New Chilokver wrote:What's the deal with Whiteshore and the Tarkanese Federation?
There is currently a conflict between UCASIRE vs. SACTO, and in a related incident Whitshore and the Tarkanese Federation have to war. Inyurstan, as a member of SACTO, has sent support to the Tarkanese, and the Ausitorian government is intent upon demonstrating their equivalent ability to send support to Whiteshore, i.e. their independence from SACTO. (By extension, they also wish to demonstrate the IFC's ability to act independently from SACTO).

SACTO - Santiago Anti-Communist Treaty Organization: Meh
UL - United Left: They're defunct, so I don't even know why I'm putting this here.
TFA - Task Force Atlas: This is a joke, but oh boy it will eventually be a thing.

I know that SACTO kind of devolved into a bunch of wannabe fascists, so they don't strike me as something to be taken particularly seriously OOC. And the other two you listed seem largely to be nonentities, soooo... nothing?

It'd be nice to know what you're talking about before you open your mouth.
Just a thought.

Mebbe I just severely misconstrued what I saw.

Probably. Given that I'm a SACTO member and I tend to be the opposite of fascist.
Anyways, what is the equivalent of the UL nowadays?
