It's rap, not rock, but there ya go...

If you wanna try older stuff, I'd reccomend the Stones Paint It Black or maybe Gob's cover and here's some 80s tracks from Transformers: The Movie The Touch and Lion's cover of the theme song
The thing about any type of rock music is that it usually has all the characteristics I dislike and misses all the ones I like. It's the complete opposite of my music taste. There is a complete lack of sub-bass in both the drums and the other instruments of every rock song. Although the recording quality is just fine, my brain always thinks that it's horrible, quality-wise. It sounds like a large part of the song is missing.
So, while I do have rock songs I do like, they're rare and don't last long. Usually, combinations of electronic stuff with rock get rid of the sub-bass issue.
'Paint It Black' is a song I've heard many times. It's a classic within my family. I prefer 'Gimme Shelter'.

But I will give you credit where credit is due. This is Halloween and Monster Mash had 2000s rock covers by Marilyn Manson and Zombina and the Skeletones (I kinda prefer those versions to the originals (but I think both of the originals are great)). So switch the originals for those. BTW, which 2000s cover of Paint It Black do you think is the most halloweeny? I Can't listen to all of them, unfortunately.
Why does it have to be from 2000s? And so what if it's rock music?
Corrian wrote:There's also this horror synth which could be pretty Halloween-esque I guess.
Edit: And the Halloween theme and cover of said theme

Sorry, I forgot to ask what genres you like. I really like rock and metal, but if you don't that's fine, and I don't have to be mean about it. I respect your opinion. I especially like older rock songs. I had a lot of songs from the 2008 "Dad Rocks" Album on my Walkman. What Genres do you like? Here's a non-rock song from pre-2000. Do you like the Beatles or Bowie? They might be rock artists you like.

Maybe you remember the song I linked from the Doctor Who Episode "The End of The World". I'm a bit surprised that you haven't heard of Bowie. He's one of the world's most popular and well-known musicians. Here's one of his songs. I thought most people like several beatles songs, but to each their own. Here's "Another Day by Paul McCartney" Maybe you'll like it.Rikatan wrote:Tokuopolis wrote:

I remember the song you linked! I have no idea where from, though.
I usually like songs I have heard ages before a lot more than ones I've never heard. I'm weird.
I've never heard of Bowie. The only Beatles song I like is 'Hey Jude'.
My favorite genres are dnb and hardcore, but I also do actively listen to all electronic music.

You say you don't watch movies or TV, but then you say the anime Interstella 5555: The 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem helped you get into Daft Punk. I'm a bit confused here. Did you used to watch more TV and movies? What are your favourite entertainment mediums now?Rikatan wrote:Tokuopolis wrote: Maybe you remember the song I linked from the Doctor Who Episode "The End of The World". Music like Bowie's and The Beatles' (don't know if that's correct. gg midnight grammar) was forced on me a lot in my childhood, so I distanced myself from it as soon as I discovered that something else exists. Same for a lot of music that is outside of comfort zone. And I don't watch movies or TV at all. You can gasp, cry, and whatever else now.
Another Day is okay, I guess (certainly better than most acoustic/rock songs I hear).
I've heard both Electric Avenue and HBFS before. The latter is from one of my favorite albums, Discovery. I grew up with that album. The anime that went along with it probably helped me fall in love with it.
There are songs I like much more from Discovery, though. Face To Face and Digital Love are personal favorites.
The main reason I don't have much in common with others when it comes to music is because I need (literal) extremes a lot. Most of my music is considerably faster than usual and contains breakbeats and other related percussion. Even the music I consider simple has those characteristics.

Some people like and share their musical tastes with their parents, and plenty of people say they were introduced into rock and metal by their parents. But some people don't, and grow up to like different genres and have different tastes to their parents, and that's fine.
