Man, that makes me want to get back into MMO gaming.

And by 'back into', I mean 'into'.

I've started playing a little of something else with an NS GPer, but that's just the two of us. Not quite EVE's crazy fleet-on-fleet voice chat shenanigans.

I have to say that working in teams of two players is quite pleasant. Especially since EVE changed a tad since the last time I played. But those who engage in fleet battles and assaults can go psychotic when things don't go according to plan. It's hilarious to watch the videos of the meltdowns.

Yeah, goddamn these videos are hilarious. I played a bit of a game called Planetside 2, which was an MMO (albeit with much, much quicker progression relative to cap), and some of the videos on that are rather cool. Again, not quite EVE's fleet combat.

But yes, a power duo can be rather fun. The GPer plays a /lot/ more than I do - they have two characters, one that they grind regularly, and one that I do quests with on a different server - so I'm not quite as competent as they are. Plus they're playing a somewhat better class for early game. But it's good company and silly fun - except when I spend twenty minutes having them escort me to an NPC, losing them, and ending up where I started after I die >.>

Since he's helping me build my skills set, we have been doing only low level battles and incursions. As soon as I get my battle cruiser ready, I will be able to get into more involved things. But I only battle alongside him because he has quite the ship and the shield capacity to withstand quite a lot of damage. Not to mention that he can fight long range so... I orbit, and get ISK. At this point, we've pretty much proven that not only can evolution happen, it pretty much must happen since it's basically impossible to prevent it from happening.

I think, from memory, statistics say that male - female characters on a couple of larger MMOs (not players) are about 50%. A lot of those are because men like to try female side characters, for gear or story reasons. I had a female character on an MMO, back in the day, for RP.

But the player ratio is definitely getting closer, too.

Gallo says that due to how odd EVE characters can look, many male players prefer to look at themselves in female form (because damn, the female character designs look awesome) than use male characters.
