The Ottomans indeed were Defender of the Faith, but Persia was Shiite. Ethiopia became Sunni. Nobody warned me -- they feared me too much and I've warned the Ethiopians already, but that was a few years back. Persians weren't guaranteed by anybody, they had exactly one ally, that being Ethiopia.

Edit: For clarification, Persians were allied with Ethiopia, but not with Ottomans. Ethiopians were allied with Ottomans, though.

There we have it, then. Persia was allied with Sunni Ethiopia and called them in. Due to being defender of the faith the Ottomans then joined in to defend Ethiopia against.... wait, you said you're najd, right? That means you should be sunni as well, so the defender of the faith should be irrelevant...

I was focused on my own thang so I wasn't checking out the other nations but I remember hungry got a crisis for freedom and that Bavaria took it up. Then a world war happened cause of the crisis. Also UK got Oregon. And it's still 1844... So yea Victoria 2 at its finest.

Well I can get some mods but HPM works but crashes after a few years, which doesn't happen with any other mods and I can't find a link to PDM.

You should play it. Don't expect to get battlecruisers immediately (they require a special building if you want to be able to recruit them into your retinues), but destroyers are quite powerful as well and are available from the start. Just make sure to play a military state in order to get the necessary retinue size.

That's still there, but you can basically just ignore it. In the 40+ years I've played so far, the only effect of that has been to give me a little bit of Prestige by white-peacing out right before winning the main war. As long as you have a reasonable military, or have enough money to hire mercenaries, you have very little to fear.

Um. Remain pagans? They're not exactly "fitting in" with other religions in the area like Manichaeism or Mazdakism, or Muslim/Indian religions. Also, it's not like anyone actually plays 769.

I wonder what graphics engine they are using, because if it's Clausewitz the DANG! That engine has some hidden qualities that can't be seen with just maps.

Interesting planet generation is seen here with the tiles, it'll be interesting to see the combinations that'll arise there.

Also a very nice screenshot at the end, beautiful it is. I hope we get more info on Empires and Federations sometime.
