WORLDVISION SONG CONTEST 43
The show started with the orchestra playing the opening ident of Radiu-Televisiune Kalosia followed by the opening ident of Elktel, while both broadcasters' logos were shown on the screen. And without much ado, the camera cut to the stage, where WV42 winner Lucia Edin was ready to perform. It was going to be a long show, after all.
Goodbye to Yesterday — Lucia Edin
Winner of the 42nd WorldVision Song Contest and Reigning Champion
performed in English to the tune of Nacida Para Amar by Nina
Lucia Edin was wearing the same vibrant red dress she wore on the winning night. This contrasted with the blue-and-black gradient in the background and made her stand out well. The stage was dim and only a spotlight was cast over Lucia. The opening notes of the song started to play. The crowd went wild.
Quiet nights, silent cries
Living in sadness, it’s consuming me
My thoughts and struggles will not last
If nothing changes now
Quiet nights, silent cries
God, I have lived such a turbulent life
But the truth is that love is love
The sun is rising, now I’ll say:
Goodbye to yesterday
To all the sorrows I’ve left behind
And let’s toast for a new tomorrow
Which I will welcome with my open arms
Goodbye to yesterday
Everything stayed as it is.
Lack of light, violent fights
Walk away from it all, at least I’ll try
For the truth is that love is love
The sun has rose, so now I’ll say:
The white stage lights started to kick in, making the stage slightly brighter.
Goodbye to yesterday
To all the sorrows I’ve left behind
And let’s toast for a new tomorrow
Which I will welcome with my open arms
At the end of the first line of the next part, stage lights fully kicked in and it was now fully illuminated.
Goodbye to yesterday
Won’t care about any past sorrow
For I’ve entered a new tomorrow
Where I’m safe from abuse, from painful memories
Goodbye to yesterday
The song ended and was met with huge ovations by the live audience. She wasn't done yet, though.
Good evening Kalosia, buna sirë Monterra!!! How are you all doing tonight? Do you want more?
(The audience cheered. Some people were shouting "We want more! We want more!" and many joined in, becoming powerful enough to be heard by viewers at home.)
Alright, alright. (she turns to the conductor) Maestro, take it away!
