What is everyone's fascination with being with the Remnants?

I loved the opportunity I had to World-Build the fuck out of the West Coast. Why stick with the prefab stuff when you can get the awesome chance to flex your creative muscles?

Though I admit I am way better at world-building than actual RPing. Y'all make me feel bad with your awesome dialogues and endless wall of text. I'm lucky to pump out some half-way decent conversations and a couple paragraphs.

Also in a very off topic part, I think Bei should put a rule if it's not only on there that you can have max up to 2 or 3 characters. Not calling out anyone in particular, but it seems a couple of people who join always want to make their little factions to traipse around with without fear, unlike us one/two character folk who actually have to fear battle and actually have to deal with people to make groups.

Again, not calling out anyone specifically.

Well, we shall see. If he goes that way, perhaps he is the remnants of a remnant defector group that are even more hardliners than their predecessors while not as well armed. That would help there be a disconnect there.

Bio:

Daniel Lawrence Ferrier was born after the total collapse of society, in Schriever Air Force Base, Colorado. His father was a Colonel in the United States Marine Corps, and a renowned military commander for U.S. Remnant Forces. As a child in Remnant territory, Daniel was never exposed to the horrors of the outside world. As a boy, he and his father would frequently drive up into Colorado Springs for Daniel's baseball league or to get groceries. He always heard of the wastes outside of Remnant territory, but he trusted the strength of the Government and the Armed Forces, so he took it personally when the Remnants shattered, and chaos spread to once-peaceful lands. By the time Daniel turned 12, Colorado Springs had been overrun, and Schriever Air Force Base was put into effective lockdown. Civilian housing was evacuated due to it's considerable distance from the base. The large electric gates surrounding the base were activated to keep infected out, but it was rare to see them, due to the Air Force Base's distance from any populated areas. Still, most base activity was restricted to the bunker complex stretched beneath the base.

As he grew older, he trained, as did most other boys in the base. He learned to fight, to survive, and everything in between. Daniel tried extra hard, for he had to live up to the expectations of his father, the CO of famous Task Force Black, the only unit of soldiers that ever left the base. What they did, Daniel had no clue, but he was well aware that he would be a member one day, and had to be ready. At age 17, he was placed under the direct command of his father... in Task Force Black. Daniel's first mission... wasn't at all what he expected. He knew it would be bad, that much was clear... but the things he saw, what he experienced... he'll never forget. It was a scout mission in Denver- their objective being to map out the ruins of the downtown of the city.

The chopper dropped them off on the ruins of an old office building in the morning with only enough supplies for a day. It all went wrong too quick. During their descent to street-level, the team was ambushed by a pack of Lurkers, immediately losing a member of their team. He was ripped to shreds. The soldiers had to battle their way through a city of infected, pushing into the old subway tunnels and barricading themselves in. Wave after wave came, and it was a slaughter. More than half of the Task Force was lost within 2 hours, and the fate of the rest was almost certain. Instead of see the hold squad go down, Daniel's father ordered Daniel and the rest of the Task Force to retreat down the Subway tunnels while he held them off. Daniel was reluctant, but he had to go. He said goodbye to his father one last time, and the team escaped with their dead. Colonel Ferrier gave Task Force Black just enough time to escape the subways, for when Daniel and the others ascended, they were quickly picked up by the chopper.

With his father dead, Captain Jameson took command of Task Force Black, and Daniel quickly became Second-In-Command. When Captain Jameson suffered a critical injury and was no longer capable of serving on the field, Daniel assumed command. Today, at age 25, Daniel is the Commanding Officer of the famous Task Force Black, frequently scouring the ruins of Colorado to capture test subjects, scout ruins, gather technology, or needed supplies. With the weight of America on his shoulders, Daniel is always tested, but he fights on for what he believes in.

Bio:

Born long before the infection broke out, Gary was raised in Denver. His father was a mechanic, owned a garage, and his mother worked the desk. Being a mechanic was in the family, so Gary always helped his father. Gary was given the name "Red" when he was 15, after beating a bully so bad his clothes were soaked red with the bully's blood. From then on, everyone with the exception of his mother called him Red. After graduating High School, Red departed his family and joined the Army, where he served in the Post-9/11 invasion of Iraq as a Combat Mechanic, making repairs on tanks and Humvees during patrols. When he returned 2 years later, he was somewhat haunted from the war, but never showed it. Red went to College and got a degree in mechanics, then worked in his father's garage. When his father got cancer and died when Red was 23, he took over as owner and kept the garage going. Red married at 24, but the easy life didn't last. When the infection broke out and the world began to fall apart, Denver was saved, being under total control of the United States Government, but it wasn't the same. First, Red was contracted by the United States Army to make repairs on their trucks at his garage, but was eventually pulled from Denver and moved to an Army Outpost to serve there.

He and his family lived in Fort Carson for almost 10 years, but the final days of the United States weren't easy for Red. He remembers when the hordes of infected stormed into Fort Carson, remembers the soldiers scrambling to defend, remembers watching his family get slaughters, and remembers that life-changing bite. When he awoke more than a day later, he came to the realization that he hadn't turned into a crazed animal like the others. In fact, when he walked through the base, past crowds of infected, none so much as looked at him oddly. He was scared... confused... alone. He loaded a truck with medical supplies, weapons, and food, then departed from Fort Carson. Red lived in the truck for months, syphoning gas from abandoned cars on the streets. No infected bothered him for some odd reason, and he thought he got off easy. Eventually he moved into a small settlement just north of Denver, but it wasn't long before it all changed...

Over a few weeks, Red's skin began to flake off and scab over, his hair fell out, and his eyes turned to a milky white. All of the cartilage on his body shriveled up and fell off, and soon enough, he looked just like the infected that roamed around. The townspeople knew Red, they knew he was still Human in the mind, but they didn't trust he wouldn't turn. They kicked him back into the Wastes, alone once again. With nothing but the clothes on his back and a bag of supplies, Red sought a new home, but his journey was not an easy one. Whenever he approached trade caravans, he was shot at. The Humans who didn't attack him instead treated him like a monster. Gradually, Red came to hate Humans for their actions. To be as far from any Humans as possible, Red travelled to Denver, using his abilities to his advantage. Red settled in an old subway tunnel, in an old train car, protected by hordes of Infected both above and below ground. They are his only company, his only companionship, but he finds them more comforting than any Human could ever be...

As for the second guy, Infected are less zombie-like and still very much alive, so the amount of damage that man's body has suffered would be catastrophic if not fatal if not from organ failure then likely infection or necrosis. Just food for thought.
