Other:
Conceived by the WOULF Consortium as a low-cost adaptation program for pre-outbreak VALKs, the Type 60 quickly evolved from that mere adaptation of previously-existing designs to a dedicated production line of its own. It was focused around adaptability and the ability to swap armaments across the whole line and with the WCs previous Type 48 VALK. Variants on the basic design, such as the ‘Site 2’ artillery-support VALK (the ‘Dire Wolf’) and, especially, the ‘Site 3’ built VALKs meant for recon, training and utility purposes (the ‘Wulfen’, ‘Mad Dog’ and ‘Fenris’, respectively), configured in more traditional two-pilot setups, saw usage in what survived of national militaries. The initial ‘Timber Wolf’ builds saw only fringe service in Gama’s Valkyrie Corps due to the wasted space of the secondary pilot cockpit. This downside was quickly rectified in the VALKs refits and modifications, however, and the secondary cockpit was replaced with additional weapons, ammunition, or equipment that might increase its survivability.

Other: The PTS-43 'Catamount' is an original Proteus design, built from the ground-up by one of their East Asian chapters. Drawing inspiration from a number of older VALK designs, both GAMA and Proteus, the Catamount was designed to be able to operate off-grid for extended periods of time. For this reason, it was decided to build the VALK on a very manoeuvrable platform which focused primarily on munition-less weapons. The Catamount needed to be small enough to evade direct conflict with larger GAMA models if necessary, but large enough that a toe-to-toe engagement was not out of the question.
Double-jointed legs were chosen for their greater stability, and a trio of claws mounted above each hand to allow the Catamount to move seamlessly between ranged and hand-to-hand combat. The signature weapon of the Catamount, the Directed Proton Cannon (DPC), is an energy weapon which fires a concentrated stream of protons at it's target, delivering thermal and kinetic damage in equal measure. DPC's also have the potential to wreak havoc on exposed, unshielded electronics. A pair of 150mm autocannons were mounted in the arms, to give the Catamount a little more oomph during larger melees and when on shorter excursions; the VALK excels in both long- and close-range engagements.
The Catamount suffers from one major drawback: the heat generated by it's twin DPC's is extensive, so much so that (if left unchecked) it could potentially cook an unfortunate pilot alive. An innovative heat-venting system was devised, which can eject streams of plasma from six specialized vents mounted in the torso, three in the front and three in the rear. When venting plasma, these vents pose a potential weak-point in the Catamount's otherwise impressive armour, for any pilot both accurate enough to hit them and lucky enough to be facing them when they open.
The Catamount also utilizes a cutting-edge counter-RAMM system, based around a series of ultraviolet lasers which target munition payloads and stabilizing features where applicable.

On the one hand, holy fuck BATTLETECH! My incredibly nerdy childhood is back!
On the other hand, now I want to scrape up a few bucks and have the strange desire to go cleaning and digging through boxes of old books in my basement for the early-90s Battletech novels about the Third Secession Wars. Do you have any idea how messy my basement is? If I end up cleaning the damn thing just to satisfy my inner nerd, I'm blaming it on you now!

You are entirely correct. I admit to having used 'autocannon' because it sounded better than 'howitzer' or anything else I could think of off the top of my head. Also, bad habits from Battletech where only cannon was 'autocannon'.

The general consensus of Mon and I is 5 "weapon" systems for the VALK. This isn't because we want to suck the fun, its so that we don't have everyone in the typical scenario of "ooh i'll take that and that and that and that looks good too... etc". Just figured I'd rebring that up while everyone is making their VALK sheets.


Also as a sidebar, Mon and I are surprisingly actually running out of room on our two OP posts to add everything in. So these VALK schematics might end up being just links depending on what we do.

I think it might have been something along the lines of originally we didn't think the RP would get as far as it has, and now we're just too stuck in our old ways and don't have time to do it.
