I'm still trying to figure out why you need genes in the first place...

I don't want to be uploaded anywhere. What if the Matrix has a hard-drive failure?
I suppose I do technically have genes and cells, now that I think about it...

When it comes down to it, tech is what it will take to truly move past many of these issues. Once you've got cybernetic eye implants combined with wireless access, for instance, reporting crime is a snap. Once people can get new bodies and experiment with sex cheaply enough, anyone could have started as any sex, so there's no way to know who to discriminate against. Complaints about looks fading become irrelevant, along with all the angst that goes with it. Etc, etc.

TBH, by that point, I think a lot fewer people would care. I mean, if you could have a full replacement body, using a brain transplant, who would know? All of the equipment would be in the right place and in the right condition, and all of the secondary sexual characteristics would be just right, too. If the issue is personality, then just date by personality. If the issue is loss-of-face, well, no one will know, and that's a stupid thing to lose face over so society should change.Gauthier wrote:Oh look. How many Fedora Points™ do I need to upgrade from a Trilby?

It's not just genes to me, it's the history of a person. What someone was before may change, but it is still very much relevant to me and my perception of them, and personally, I am not sexually inclined to such a person. It's not about telling the difference, it's about someone's individual sexual preference. I'm not against people doing this, let them do it as much as they like. But please don't expect me to be more sexually attracted to someone for it. And I disagree personally, I think a lot of people would still care, not just men, but women too, and perhaps even some trans folks as well.

What someone was before they met you is absolutely none of your business.
