Trump's only real purpose is to be a LeeRoy Jenkins that takes out most of the other GOP candidates with him, except Jeb Bush and maybe one or two others.
Crimes committed by Muslims will be a pan-Islamic plot and proof of Islam's inherent evil. On the other hand crimes committed by non-Muslims will merely be the acts of loners who do not represent their belief system at all.
The probability of one's participation in homosexual acts is directly proportional to one's public disdain and disgust for homosexuals.
If a political figure makes an accusation of wrongdoing without evidence, odds are probable that the accuser or an associate thereof has in fact committed the very same act, possibly to a worse degree.
Where is your God-Emperor now?

Can you expand upon this point ASB?

I mean, obviously these debates are a clown car...but how have we gotten to this point? What is the GOP thinking, and what might they do to change the process??

So are like half the campaigns just going to die next week when there candidate doesn't make the cut to appear on the debate stage?

It seems a little bizarre to weed candidates out like that, before a single vote has been cast.

I hope the debates really show the Republican voters that Trump is not the man they want to be their candidate.

well no I don't think so.

the big debate will be overrun by stupid talk from Donald trump so it will be a loser for the other 9 guys. they are also having a different event for the 5 stragglers who will not have to contend with trump AND will have fewer people to compete with for air time. PLUS it seems to me that few people will be bothering to watch a debate done 6 months before the first vote is cast when they could be out enjoying a hot august evening. so in the end people will judge based on the clips they see on tv and the internet (if they care at all) and those are up for grabs--the most forceful, smart or outrageous candidate wins the viral video award.

the candidates drop out when they run out of cash. that is what did in tim pawlenty in '12. (well in '11 since he got out after the iowa straw poll.)

The best option outside of the libertarians would probably be Governor of Ohio John Kasich, who is just as conservative economically as the rest of the GOP, but is moderate to liberal on most social issues. However, he has little chance to get the nomination, though it looks like he might get the tenth spot in the FOX debate.

There is also Former Governor of New York George Pataki, who is similar to Kasich, although he has even less of a chance of winning the nomination than him. Beyond those two, the only others there really are, are Jim Gilmore, who has no chance, and Jeb Bush, though neither are legitimately moderate by any means.

GOP ratings lowest in 20 years.
I personally feel that this is a result of Trump's language as well as a multitude of other factors.

The important thing to note is that this is not just Trump's language.

Every candidate, in order to win the GOP block, has had to resort to make a mockery out of themselves and be the greatest assholes in the campaign trail. That is who they are catering to because most of the people they are trying to reach believe these things.

And they won't change.

The audience they are trying to reach are the people who are angry at Obama because of reasons. From the birthers, to the anti-vaxxers, to the anti-immigration block, to the fiscally conservative, to the social hyper-conservative bible-thumper. And, mostly, WASPs. The GOP has had to be more to the right than ever before, because that's what wins them the nomination to president and the Republican states.

I would not underestimate Kasich, he is a man that has disproved people at times. So I believe he has shot based on his record in politics. If it's not him, then there is Bush, Walker, or Rubio.

It's rare for there to be 16 candidates in a primary, I don't think this has ever happened before.

Fox News is now hosting two debates and every candidate will get a chance. http://www.politico.com/story/2015/07/fox-republican-debate-lowers-threshold-120748.html?hp=r2_4
