Butter your own toast?!?
Clearly, the government will create a service of highly qualified (and highly paid) public employees to do the toast-buttering for everybody...

It's certainly higher than last year's:
All the main categories were down, including violent crime and sex offences, but drug offences were up 18%, gun crime was up 2% and murder was up 3%.

Where does it say that bit about murder?
It shows there were five million recorded crimes. All the main categories were down, including violent crime and sex offences, but drug offences were up 18%, gun crime was up 2% and murder was up 3%.

And it's only "police-recorded" crime that's down, so that if people have become less likely to bother reporting 'minor' crime to the authorities (because they expect that nothing would be done about it anyway, so there's no point in bothering...) or the police have changed their policy on what gets 'recorded' as a crime (for example, if they no longer do so for any incidents that get dealt with by a warning or a summary fine rather than by actually bringing charges... and perhaps are dealing with more incidents in those ways than was formerly the case...) then the figures might not be entirely accurate in the first place...

OP is a year late.CrimeThe risk of being a victim is, in fact, slightly up on last year, making me look rather foolish with that sarcastic bit up abovebut the overall crime rate is down 5%.
