Tensions in Vishpanyar

Bion Valaxes, Zakrioleion, Vishpanyar

Bion looked at his friend. Jason Eudalros had been strong once, he had not been the dried out, living corpse he was now. Jason looked pale, his eyes closed and his thinning hair combed backwards. "Mylord, you should leave his excellecy now." said a doctor besides Bion. Bion had to keep himself from hitting the doctor who wanted to remove him from his friend, but then turned away, knowing the doctor was right. When Bion had left the room did he sigh, his friend was still ἐπιστράτηγος (viceking) of Vishpanyar and many things requested his attention. "Please leave people, his excellency won't be able to handle any cases today due to health matters. If you want anything that needs the blessing of the ἐπιστράτηγος, please turn to me or the κονόσταυλος." Bion knew that this wouldn't work as he always answered no and the κονόσταυλος was not in Zakrioleion. With annoyed faces left the group of people but Bion didn't care, he and Jason had already uncountable allies and enemies. Bion walked towards the harbour, his part of the city. Bion was admiral(ναύαρχος) of the Vishpnyar fleet and war veteran. He had spent his whole carrier besides Jason who had been his political counterpart. If Jason would fall would Bion not only lose a friend but his position would become very unsure. It was not for nothing that Bion had moved his HQ from the government quarter to the port quarter since Jason's weakenening, that Bion considered poisoning. A few hours later sat Bion still behind his desk as he was now functioning both as ἐπιστράτηγος and ναύαρχος. Bion looked up when somebody knocked on the door and he got a bad feeling when he saw the official messenger from the palace. His feeling was right, as always. "Forgive me milord, and my deepest condolences. ἐπιστράτηγος Jason of house Eudalros has just died in his sleep." Bion sat silently on his chair, ignoring the fearful messenger. He had known Jasons death was coming but it was a hard thing to swallow that he was really dead now. After a few minutes that seemed like ages rose Bion from his chair and said with empty voice:"Bring me to him." The messenger nodded and soon did they reach the colonial palace. The message had been true, Jason was lying death on his bier. Tension could be felt everywhere in the palace. Nobody's position was sure now. A new ἐπιστράτηγος would come and he would certainly get in conflict with the old guard and Bion Valaxes. People were now trying to secure their position and Bion grim times would come. With a heavy heart waited Bion the next days for the new ἐπιστράτηγος, while preparing himself and his loyalists for possible conflicts.

Galenos Kallerzanis, Taeletos city, Taelete

"And do you hereby swear to do everything in your power to secure and improve the position of the Taeletean league in Vishpanyar?" "Yes, I do" "Do you hereby swear to always obey the commands of the council?" "Yes, I do" "Do you hereby swear not to start any conflicts without permission of the council?" "Yes, I do" "Do you hereby swear to do nobody unnecessary harm?" "Yes, I do" "Do you swear this all by your faith in God and by your life?" "Everything I swore before has been sworn by God and by my life" "Rise then, Galenos of house Kallerzanis, rise as ἐπιστράτηγος of Vishpanyar and φρουρός of Zakrioleion." Galenos rose, his muscles were rigid due to the long kneeling. The council official now gave him a big golden chain of office and when he had put the chain on did he receive his sigil ring. "Now you are accepted by the earthly government as ruler of Vishpanyar. When you're accepted by the spiritual rule of the church will you be written down as official ἐπιστράτηγος ." Galenos nodded and bowed to the bleachers full of councilmembers on the sides of the room. Altough the patriarch would still have to accept him did Galenos knew that he was now already ἐπιστράτηγος de facto, altough the council had spent two days of choosing him from among the candidates. He turned around and left the council room while applause arose on the stone benches. Galenos walked now to the exit of the complex of the five akropoloi, the political center of Taelete and the league. Galenos would now ride in triumph to the Despote's palace where he would receive congrutiolations and an indication of the way that the Taeletean government wanted him to act. When Galenos entered the courtyard did he see his Trazentine guard reasy to escort him trough the city, their white with gold uniforms and flags shining in the sun. Galenos mounted his horse( tradition is important in Taelete so horses are still much used) and gave the order to lower the gates. As soon as they opened was Galenos shocked by the loud sounds of cheering and calling outside. When Galenos and his escort left the gates did they see cheering and waving people everywhere on the side of the road. Galenos wondered to what he thanked all the happiness while riding towards the palace. From one of his guards did he hear that the people tought him capable of securing Vishpanyar and of bringing more wealth from it. When Galenos had grown used to the cheering he started to think about things he needed to do to secure his rule over Vishpanyar. He knew that the first requirement of a steady rule would be allies and soldiers. Galenos would take 10.000 men and 31 battleships with him from his lands at Trazentioch so he would have troops to command until he would gain loyalty of the Taeletean forces in Vishpanyar. But to truly secure his rule would Galenos need allies and he would put focus at two possible allies, house Zolkrovin of Zolsvegorod that were one of the most powerful families within the league and owners of the city of Kaslamkovegrad in Vishanyar, and the patriarchal greek-orthodox church of Krionarlassion. Galenos knew the πρωτοστράτηγος(first general) of the church armies among his friends so Galenos was quite sure that he would gain support with the church but he knew that house Zolkrovin would not be directly convinced. This meant that he would make a two-day trip to Zolsvegorod, HQ of the house to win them for his cause before leaving to Krionarlassion and Vishpanyar. Galenos looked up from his toughts when he was told that his escort had arrived at the despote's palace. Galenos dismounted and walked into the palace, he would leave Taelete for Zolsvegorod and Vishpanyar as soon as the despote would have congratulationed him.

Anna Larana, Zarmeloch, Vishpanyar

αντιβασιλέας(regent) Anna Larana looked how the cars were stuffed with palace properties in the courtyard below her. Servants and guards were running around to prepare the leaving. The death of the ἐπιστράτηγος was devastating for Anna's already weak rule. The city nobles and corporations had now no longer to fear that Anna would be helped by Taeletean troops if they attacked her as the Taeletean troops were busy securing the colonial rule and their own position now their commander-in-chief had fallen away. Anna had already struggled for power with the nobles during her whole rule as she was a woman without a big army to enforce her rule, but now was her last authority really gone and only her palace was still under her control. It was for that reason that she would capitulate to Zakrioleion, where she would gain support to regain support to secure her rule over Zarmeloch. The only other Larana in the city, her sister Esther Larana had already left southwards. Anna turned around and walked downstairs as everything seemed ready for the journey. Motorbikes, cars and men on foot were gathering up in a colonne as Anna entered her coach. The gates of the palace wall opened and guards grouped together around the colonne, she took 50 city watchmen, 50 Vishpan soldiers and 100 household guards with her southwards, she hoped they were enough protection. As the colonne moved trough the city heard Anna suddenly a loud explosion on her right side. She looked out of her window and saw a house in the street burning, while she became cold of fear. More explosions could be heard and the colonne moved faster while soldiers moved in the direction from which the explosions came. Sounds of explosions and fighting men could be heard the whole time in Zarmeloch and it was a great moment when her coach rode trough the city gates, which were full of death soldiers. Even outside the city kept the colonne moving southwards with haste. Later heard Anna that half her escort had died that day.

Tancred Filaurangius, Western River Delta, Vishpanyar

Tancred watched the new regiment of Pefkiots stepping ashore. Another 700 soldiers to bolster his force. Tancred was already κονόσταυλος(constable) for three years but he had never received any power as all other leaders had always kept their forces for themselves, blocking Tancred's carrier and ambitions as he only had a few hundred household guards and 5000 Vishpans under his command. In the three days that their hadn't been an ἐπιστράτηγος, however, had Tancrred been commander-in-chief of the ground forces in Vishpanyar with free acces to the government funds. He used this two days to hire 12600 Clányan mercenaries, 15000 Pefkiot mercenaries and the ramcloak company, numbering 14000 men. He hired this mercenaries for at least several weeks and within that time would he have found a secure position that would provide him of enough funds to keep this army standing as his position as κονόσταυλος was propably gone with the new ἐπιστράτηγος. For that reason had the news from Zarmeloch been received with great happiness. If he could capture Anna Larana and force her to abdicate before taking Zarmeloch where anarchy reigned since Anna's disappearance could he become αντιβασιλέας(regent) of Zarmeloch himself, a position that would able him to fund his force. For the moment had Tancred to wait, wait for a sign of Anna Larana and wait for the Clányan mercenaries to arrive.

Gregorios Aballas, The Eastern River Delta, Vishpanyar

Gregorios Aballas, 'prince of the people' and beggar-general of the mendicant order of st Demetrios, one of the biggest militant orders known in the world, watched his 11.000 men streaming from the ships. The death of Jason Eudalros had opened possibilities for the mendicant order. It was time to cleanse Vishpanyar from Nihonese heathens for once and for all as their was no strong, exerienced or united government to stop the order. The Nihonese formed 10 to 15% of the population on the riverdelta and all followed protestantism and had left the true faith of the patriarchate of Krionarlassion. The mendicant order could not accept this within the borders of the totally greek-orthodox Taeletean league. When all Nihonese would have been deported, killed or converted(by force) would Gregorios turn himself to the immoral cities of Karvelosh and Zarmeloch to restore morality there. And here that all started, here were the men of st Demetrios setting foot on Vishpanyari soil. Here would the crusade begin. The patriarchate and the governments of the league did not know of this operation and when they would find out would they be to late to stop the religious fire. Aballas looked up when a scout came running towards him. "We have luck, sir. There's a Nihonese fishing village close and a local Vishpan has promised to guide us if we pay him." Gregorios nodded and said:"Well, where are you waiting for, pay the man and gather forces to take the town. I want not a single heathen there alive when the sun sets." The scout smiled and answered:"Yes, sir" before running away to forfill his orders. An hour later were Nihonese burnt within their houses, raped, torn apart or tortured to death around them while some women and children had been safe as they'd converted themselves. In the next hours and day burnt Nihonese village after village on the delta while the faith militants were closing in on Karvelosh, a big city, which stands for 5% out of Nihonese. In the meanwhile are messages of the happenings being sent to local authorities and to Zakrioleion.

My colony(Vishpanyar) is split in 5 parts,
-Zakrioleion, island and city. The island lies before the coast of Vishpanyar, just in front of a river delta. It is dominated by the Taeletean main army base(in the region) and fortress city, Zakrioleion. It is both the colonial capital and the main seat of the army as almost all Taeletean forces are garrisoned there. It is also the place were the Taeletean Far East fleet is located. The city and island are ruled by ἐπιστράτηγος(viceking) Jason Eudalros, who is dying from illness, poison, who knows? The only settlements in the region outside of Zakrioleion city are West and East Valma, fortress towns that guard the bay of Zakrioleion. The population is almost totally greek and almost all are greek-orthodox christians.
-The Riverdelta, lying in the center of the southern coast and being more than half of the coastline is this region very important for the colony. It is the center of trade and the two biggest cities(Zarmeloch and Karvelosh) lie here. It is a corrupt and immoral regions that is controlled by its high nobility and big corporations. The cities are more than thousand years old and the culture stands mainly out of greek, Russian and western European influences. The city guards and household forces are the only forces in the area and both are very weak forces. The region is one big swamp, crossed by rivers. On its borders are fertile grounds. There is no main religion. The leaders are:
Zarmeloch, αντιβασιλέας(regent) Anna Larana
Karvelosh, αντιβασιλέας(regent) Pelias Poulmannos
-The mountain chains, the mainland of the colony is surrounded by big mountains. The mountains are low populated but are well-guarded by Taeletean forces. This will make it a very hard operation to invade Vishpanyar from this way. Directly beside the mountains lies the big valley of Vishpanyar, which mainly stads out of grassy plains and farmland.
-Kaslamkovegrad, a coastal city in the west. The city is surrounded by mountains and the main culture is Russian as it is a city that is property of the Zolkrovin family of Zolsvegorod that have a Russian cultural background. The city has its own (Zolkrovin) army and it is a center of weapon industry and trade. The leader of the city and army is член совета(councillor/regent) Maksimilian Zolkrovin.
-Vishpanyar, the biggest part of the colony and it looks a lot like colonial India. It is ruled by local monarchs, the most prominent of them, the Nadī rājā(river king) rules half of Vishpanyar. On the other side is the region ruled by Taeletean officials. The population has almost totally an indian culture. The main religion is hinduism and the army stands almost totally out of locals. The regions has an Indian climate and is quite old-fashioned. The army of locals is very big but bad armed and trained. The main ruler in the region is currently Nadī rājā Vishpan LVIII.
Other important persons are:

Commander of all Land forces, κονόσταυλος(constable) Tancred Filaurangius
Admiral of the Vishpanyar fleet, ναύαρχος(admiral) Bion Valaxes

The K. means Karvelosh, the Z. means Zarmeloch and the red dot without name is the only prominent military base at the coastline before the delta from the East.

*Note about the word Vishpan which means both the Indian cultured people in Vishpanyar, as their king as the central river in the colony.*

*** Vishpanyar, Chosei town

The faith militants who decided to enter the area to massacre the Nihonese, did not, frankly, knew with whom they are messing with. Nihonese culture was culture glorifying war, warrior values (Bushido). A culture where death in battle was a highest honour one can achieve. While in other countries boys dreamed about becoming engineers or astronauts, in Nihon they dreamed of becoming soldiers. Katana was a thing that decorated every home, and if somebody did not knew some type of martial art, he was laughingstock of the neighbourhood. The few villages that were taken so far were due to the fact that the Demetrios Order had an enormous number advantage, and the inhabitants were caught by surprise. Still, everywhere they seen men taking their swords and whatever things were under their arms, attempting to defend their families. They did not cared about bullets, they did not cared about even their own lives; those fanatics were going to see that Nihonese are not easy prey, as they though, be they minority here or not. Using various communication devices, such as internet or mobile phones, Nihonese hastily begun to organize. It was not in their nature to protest when they were being murdered. The major action was to be carried by the 1st Nihonese Volunteer Brigade "Ronin", unit that was allowed by treaty between local Nihonese and Taeletians.

In the morning, Brigadier - General Sasaki Kaoru sat down on his chair, correcting his grey beard as he thought about the past. In that past - the world of his own memories, the events he remembered - he was a colonel, commanding an infantry regiment in An` Nam war, when the Nihonese military attacked the country to quell local socialist movement. Right now, he lived where his daughter migrated; to Vishpanyar. And yet it seemed, that again now he was going to defend his family. What happened angered him a lot, since privately he was an orthodox Christian; yet if those barbarians thought that they can, in the name of God, plunder, kill, rape and pillage, they were wrong. Christ condemned such behaviour. And Sasaki was not going to allow it to continue. He knelt down and prayed "Our Father" for a time, then rose his eyes to the heaven. That very moment and enormous confidence fell on him. He felt divine empowerment, to deal with those who claimed to worship God, but served Satan in secret. He rose up, corrected his uniform, and took his family katana from the rack above the fireplace. Living alone, he had no family here; his daughter died in car crash long ago.

Right now, a man who gave his entire life for the mission, stood up in the doors of his house, looking at the militiamen unit with which was supposed to take him into the jungles, where he would command the resistance against the enemy. Chosei town was the biggest Nihonese town in this area, with population of 89 000 people, in overwhelming majority Nihonese, was going to be resistance base. His men already were going to fortify this town; the units made of local policemen and various hastily organised, but at least armed in firearms militia were ordered to hold the town at any cost. At the same time the "regular" militia units departed totally into the jungle. They had several advantages there. Unlike the enemy, they knew terrain; they have been born here or lived here for long time. Additionally, majority of local fishermen - and people working on the river - were also Nihonese. This meant that using ships and various water canals, combined with well - known terrain during land transportation allowed the Nihonese to manoeuvre through jungle at much faster pace than the enemy; who did not knew terrain; and using the fact that area was not well developed, he either had to use some of local roads or railways. This granted the Nihonese perfect opportunity for counterattack. Their own units were moving dispersed, in small groups, max to platoon sized. Each of group moved separately, and will remain in dispersion; they will re - assemble only when it came to major attack, then retreat back to jungle and disperse again. Their own commanders had been given a lot of initiative in conducting their tasks; the command was mostly decentralized. And of course, the communication could be upheld by the fact that Nihonese had signals unit + advanced radios, in addition to runners from various groups. While in case emissions were reduced to minimum - even if enemy probably lacked gear to intercept them - the units would still be able to coordinate their actions with their commanders.

What would the tactic used to defeat enemy that had ten to one numerical advantage? First, Nihonese were not going to hold terrain. Most of local villages were already fleeing towards Chosei, which was protected well by local police and hastily organized militias; which, using fact that mess even for well commanded and organized regular armies assault on the city was, would certainly be a good stronghold. If they wanted to move forward, at least in this area, they had to capture it, otherwise their supply lines would always be at threat. The same moment when, in small groups, Nihonese Ronin Brigade left the city under cover of the night and dispersed in terrain awaiting orders to move on and attack, local policemen and militia barricaded every access to the town with debris and junk, setting defence positions on the outskirts. Just 800 men against whole horde.

Coming back to method, it was combination of T.E. Lawrence's "War of Detachment", Motti Tactic used by Fins during Talvisota and own experiences of Nihonese military. At first, Nihonese militia was dispersed over wide area in hard and rarely populated, with ability to quickly focus on order. Then, plan was to split the enemy units into smaller groups - which should not be hard, considering their level of training and amount of communication devices they had -, encircle those groups, wipe them out, then retreat and disperse again.

Sasaki Kaoru looked at map last time. At night day before his men left Chosei, with his command post located now inside a cave, deep in the jungle. Local Nihonese and his own reconnaissance units were now identifying the targets to strike; and then the shock warfare begun with full force.

ORBAT
- 1st Nihonese Volunteer Brigade "Ronin" - dispersed in jungle and hard terrain.
- 900 - men hastily organized militia and policemen - holding the town.

*** Near Yahiko, day after Ronin brigade left the city, 22 ; 24.

The enemy made mistake that he used railways as the mean of transport; and that made him be very predictable, because considering that the rail roads were not exactly everywhere, the Nihonese militia had clear idea what route enemy will take; and thus they exactly knew where to set ambush. Nihonese, according to their tradition, struck at night. Major Nakano Takeshi just took the binoculars out of eyes, which were hidden under the wildly growing hair. He was an experienced commander, being with the militia since it was created; and right now, he was planing to hit the enemy where it will hurt him. Those animals killed his own wife and their unborn child, and he was now on a crusade to get his revenge. Sitting here among the elephant grass, he had good idea of what he wanted. He formulated whole OCOKA analysis in his head. OCOKA was commonly used tool in planing the operation.

Thoughts of Major Nakano wrote:Observation and Fields of fire;
- 1 to 2 Platoons/1st Company/1st Light Infantry Battalion: railway from both sides of the path in the and jungle.
- 1st Platoon/2nd Company/1st Light Infantry Battalion: railway from the side of the hill, at the turn of the railway.
- Mortar platoon/1st Light Infantry Battalion: railway from the side of the hill, behind the 1st Platoon.

Cover and Concealment;
- Jungle on both sides of the railway.
- NO cover on the railway field.

Obstacles:
- Dense jungle fields beginning at certain depth on both sides of the railway (EAST - WEST). SLOW GO for light infantry units.

Key Terrain:
- Hill SOUTH to the railway turn.
- The railway path.

Avenues of Approach:
- From the sides, straight on through the railway path.
- Down the hill, near the heavily vegetated area on the right side.

Major Nakano carefully analysed whole area. He had the plan already formulated in mind. To successfully destroy the incoming train, which carried roughly 400 men, he planned to use a U - shaped ambush, with two platoons on each side of the railway path, and one platoon on the hill that was behind the turn of the rail road. Local authorities cut a huge area of the jungle - approximately 12 meters from the rail road itself on both sides. This gave the Nakano's men a clear overview of the terrain. The idea was to position the two platoons on both sides of the roads; while a single platoon took position on the hill, supported by the battalion's mortar platoon attached to it during this operation. Each platoon dug it's own spider holes and positions from which they were going to shoot at the enemy. Whole attack doctrine was formulated on one slow - four quick doctrine. One slow stood for slow reconnaissance; the battlefield was checked six hours before already. Four quick were; quick advance, to prevent enemy from getting information about the unit, and quick attack, which was being realized now; and consisted the three strongs; strong fight, attack and withdrawal. Then would come quick clearance and quick evacuation along planned routes, back into dispersed state.

Corporal Minami Kohaku cowered more, closing his eyes to prevent the enemy from seeing the white of his eyes, which would contrast with his camouflage paint covered face. He looked deeper into the railroad as the sound of the train - carrying the militants from St. Demetrios' s order - approached at his position. He was right in front of the railway, sitting here with his brother, Kichiro, holding a Type 24 (V2) recoilless rifle loaded with a M520 HEDP (High Explosive Dual Purpose) round, ready to destroy the locomotive. The sound of incoming train was getting louder and louder, and soon the locomotive became visible, as with loud noise it was coming straight on the Kohaku' s position, ready to turn.

"It is time, Kohaku - kun" whispered his brother as he looked at the incoming locomotive, then hugging him with his arms. This was not act of love, but served to stabilize the shooter due to heavy recoil of Type 24. Kohaku took aim, calculated distance and pulled the trigger. Seconds after him, another round was fried. Both of them with a loud thump fled straight on the locomotive. There was no chance they would miss. Resulting explosion will destroy it with ease and cause a train crash, which will cause the train to flip or fall on either side of the road. Considering that train crashes were usually much more drastic than car ones, it will do damage to people inside. But that was not the only one bad thing that was going to happen to them.

Then, the barrage of projectiles from recoilless rifles from the sides and mortar fire guided from the top of the hill (where vegetation was much lower than the areas around), would shake the stopped and wrecked train. The mortars will also fire the flares so whole are will be illuminated enough to have everything seen. Then, the Nihonese militiamen begun their own attack - by - fire, emerging from their holes and beginning the advance from both sides under the watch of MGs shooting from the turn. If everything went according to plans of the Nihonese...

Enemy will loose 400 men in the matter of minutes. Similar traps were going to be set in whole area. After the deed will be done, quick clearance, quick policing of the battlefield, collecting the wounded, POWs and arms of the enemy, then each unit will begin retreat back into dispersal. First one to go would be the mortar platoon and rear security element of the platoon defending it (one squad acted as rear security to prevent surprises). Then one platoon from the side. Then second one on both sides. Finally the command post and the platoon on the hill will vanish back into the jungle, and disperse again.

ORBAT
- 1st Company/1st Light Infantry Battalion
- 1st Platoon/2nd Company/1st Light Infantry Battalion
- Mortar platoon/1st Light Infantry Battalion.

*** Niijima

The once calm town was now observing as the fire extinguished and burned remains of houses added additional drama to sight of killed bodies lying on the ground. Whole village was wiped out, with exception of few Nihonese who have converted; the armed militiamen of the St. Demetrios's order were now busy resting, with only occasional patrol or watchman checking them after successful murder, rape and plunder of once peaceful Nihonese village. Yet, it seemed that justice was about to reach them today. 8 km away, hidden inside a cave among the rocks, Associate Colonel Nakahara Kenshin just finished giving combat order to commanders of his companies; who will exactly know what to do once it is issued. He portrayed them general concept of operations; yet did not how they have to achieve it. Each of them had high autonomy in regards to realisation of commander's plan. Commander specified what they have to do, but the realisation of his will remained up to them; each of them quickly went to his men, and wrote combat order for their company. At 00.10 various units begun to re - assemble from smaller groups that came out of dispersion at exact points specified to them by the commanders.

At the same time, near the rice field, the mortar unit has successfully arrived at their desalinated place. The sergeant Akiyawa Jiro was now issuing a fire order to his mortar unit, after checking with the snipers the location of enemy targets.

"Platoon, fire mission inbound, over!" he said on radio alerting them that something was about to happen.

"Platoon, HE proximity, over" his voice informed the crews of the mortars to prepare highly explosive round with proximity fuse.

"Platoon, all mortars, volley fire two rounds, at my mark, over!" now whole platoon had to know, it will be on sight. The crews knew now when to fire, and in what mode.

"Platoon, two rounds, over!" each of mortars received information to fire two rounds at given coordinates.

OOC Note: I do not have fire table for Soltam K6; therefore I just entered random values there, but I am aiming exactly at the village's northwestern district ;).

"Platoon, Deflection four zero nine, over" he informed them about the deflection of the mortar, to add another statistic later on: "Platoon, Charge 2 meters, over!" indicating that the mortar round will explode 2 meters over target.

By that time his assistants quickly calculated the time; since they were militia, they had not the advanced computers used in modern militaries, but shooting at half of their mortar's range still made it deadly. After the time was set, a sound came:

"Platoon, mark, over!" he almost shouted it, and then the earth trembled as his mortar unit spewed hellfire and brimstone into the air, which would later on the zealot - infested city. Series of explosions of HE rounds shook whole area, destroying buildings and killing people.

At the same time, Nihonese militiamen attempted to get as close as they could, using their camouflage skills and going by crawling. When the mortar barrage shook the area, they fired their own 60mm company mortars (as opposed to 120mm mortars of Mortar battalion) then, with loud "Banzai" cry arose from the ground, accompanied by volley of fire, attacking the enemy at close range and attempting to realize their unit's tactical goals.

The war brewed on... and nothing could stop it now.

Near to the Western River Delta, Vishpanyar
Captain Cacsus Ceŧfenyac Réigen

The ship of mercenaries ploughed through the water, crashing against the incoming waves as they advanced. It would not be too long before they arrived in Vishpanyar, and the mercenary Captain had seen it all before. He knew what he was getting into, and he found some sense of enjoyment in it. He puffed his cigar as the wind battered his face and the waves crashed against the ship's hull.
He had done his service, as all had in the Empire. He had completed three years military service, and then some. But he grew tired of the military - always orders, no way for him to command himself. But this changed when he joined the mercenaries. His life was in his hands, and he was paid well for the service. 2,400 troops, they had. Taelete had bought some good ones. A couple of regular infantry units, desert infantry, forest infantry, and other types on top. They had the lot. He looked back over the ship, then out to sea. He saw the land in the distance. He took his cigar from his land and threw it to the waves.
"Well, boys. It seems that today's you're lucky day. Skipps - what do you say we go into that delta and dock somewhere. We've been told to meet up with a person called..." he took a message out from his pocket, and read it out loud, "Tancred Filaurangius. We'll see him, and see in hat shape these forces are."
"When do we get paid, Captain?" one young recruit asked.
"Probably November. That is, unless they need us for longer, eh?" the ship erupted in laughter. "We'll be paid when we get paid. And we fight until then."
The ship entered the delta area. They hoped to find this 'Filaurangius' fellow as soon as possible.
"Hey! You look like you need some mercenaries!"
Unruly puppet of Claanyad.

Gregorios Aballas, Vishpanyar, Friyaka, Demetrian HQ.

The first advance was a disaster, that was clear to Gregorios. He had allowed his untrained militiamen to much and he had underestimated the Nihonese militias in power. This had resulted in the disaster of Niijima, where hundreds of his unprepared and untrained troops had been butchered by the Nihonese, and other defeats. Aballas did not now his losses but they were significant, considering the retreat of his lines at such an early time in the war. The Nihonese had hit him and had only left a small region west of the river that separated the part of the delta with Chosei town and the part with Friyaka, new HQ of the mendicant order since its sack. Now it was Gregorios' time to hit, and he would hit hard. Gregorios had managed to gather 6000 regular militiamen in Friyaka besides his 5000 own men. Gregorios had only one option left, counter-attacking the Nihonese counter-attack. As his force, even the reduced force in Friyaka, easily outnumbered the Nihonese was he suspecting that the Nihonese tried a guerilla war, a tought that was confirmed by battle reports. Gregorios plan was simple, he couldn't catch the Nihonese for an open combat except by invading their towns so that would be exactly what Aballas had in mind. At first would he compose four army groups that would retake all lost ground(how is explained in the battle plan below). Then would a triple force invade Nihonese territory where they would sack and loot towns, forcing the Nihonese into combat. Gregorios would use layer combat, using his untrained troops to sack towns and forming Nihonese targets at that point(with the trained troops outside the town in battle formation) while forming an anti-ambush line around his trained troops during the moving. The counter-offensive would be called 'Operation Marshtowns', a name some will never forget.

Act One, The preparation.

At first had Aballas 500 Nihonese prisoners, men, women and hildren whipped to death before the eyes of their kin, then did he release ten Nihonese captives in order to bring the news to the Nihonese militias in order to enrage them.

Immidiately after this actions was his force gathered and crossed his troops the arm of the Vishpan river that separated Friyaka from Niijima. Their safe crossing and arrival were guaranteed by the 500 digged in militiamen across the water. When his army had arrived on the other side of the river arm arrived Gregorios and did he present his battle plan:

Task Organisation
Operation Marshtowns
1. Situation
Nihonese militias have proved themselves stronger than tought before and push back the faith militiamen who launch a counter-offensive to stop the counter-offensive(nice sentence this.).
a) Enemy Forces
Unknown but less than 5000 numbers the total Nihonese force according to government dossiers so propably less than 3000. Location unknown but tought to be mainly around Niijima.
b) Friendly Forces
Army Group A:
Second and third Aballasid regiments, numbering 2000.
2000 other militiamen.
Army Group B:
Fourth Aballasid regiment, numbering 1000.
1000 other militiamen.
Army Group C:
Fifth Aballasid regiment, numbering 1000.
1000 other militiamen.
Army Group R:
First Aballasid regiment, numbering 1000.
Army Group D:
500 digged in regular militants to guard the contact with Friyaka.

2. Mission
Retaking Niijima and cutting of Nihonese units from retreat before destroying them to have a clean start for an offensive in order to defeat Nihonese troops on the whole front while also killing as many of their heathen civilians.

3. Execution
a) Intent and Concept of Operations
b) Tasks to subordinate units.
Army Groups B and C will move around Niijima and will cut off Nihonese retreat while army group A advances onto the town, crushing all opposition on its path. Army groups R and D will remain at the river crossing to protect the way back. Army Group R will be pulled into combt at my order.
c) Special tasks, none
d) Coordinating Instructions, none.

4. Logistics and Administration
a) Medical Service, provided on the field by army doctors and order priests.
b) Logistics, cars are ready to move anything or anyone necessary.

5. Command and Signal
One horn blast, attack. -> for a unit
Two horn blasts, retreat. -> for a unit
One green parachute flare, hold fast -> From HQ
Two green parachute flares, allowed retreat -> From HQ to Army Group
One Red parachute flare, encountering resistance -> Army group to HQ
Two Red parachute flares, being pushed back -> Army group to HQ
Three Red parachute flares, army group breaking under attack -> Army group to HQ

Soon after were the armies on the move in order to take Niijima and to kill as many Nihonese as possible. With the Nihonese hiding in small groups was an easy journey to Niijima expected but Gregorios had ordered his men to be careful during the walk as the Nihonese had shown to be unpredictable.

Uniforms of the Aballasid regiments

Note about Friyaka -> Friyaka is one of the bigger Nihonese villages taken by the Order and it is totally ruined. For its strategical and easy-to-defend-position is it the current HQ of the Order.

Galenos Kallerzanis, ἐπιστράτηγος of Vishpanyar, Zolsvegorod

Galenos' plane landed on the airport of Zolsvegorod. Galenos looked around to the cold landscape around him. He was welcomed by twohundred mounted honour guards in Zolkrovin uniforms. Galenos descended of the plane, followed by his twenty guards, to receive the welcome words of the high government official that stood before all honour guards. "Greetings, your highness, welcome to Zolsvegorod. We hope you had a nice trip but we guess that it is cold for you to speak here so please let us escort you to the palace." said the official while bowing and pointing on a serie of luxuous coaches behind him. Galenos new that he earned this great welcome due to his position as Trazentine crown prince, as Trazentioch and Zolsvegorod had always been close allies. "Well, first I'll thank you, as this welcome is more than I'd ever expected as a humble guest. This said do I accept your offer gladly." Galenos entered the coach as did his bodyguards and soon moved the colonne to the Royal Palace. The palace was huge and after Galenos' coach rode trough the old fortress gates was he once again silent of the beautiful palace complex in front of him. Several officials awaited him and led him trough the palace and past all palace guards until he reached a small park plateau that looked out over the sea. Here stood an old men in richly decorated clothes that Galenos recognized as Arseniy Zolkrovin, Knjaz of Zolsvegorod and patriarch of the Zolkrovin family, one of the most powerful persons of the league. Galenos walked towards Arseniy and bowed:"Greetings, lord Zolkrovin, may God bless you and your house." Arseniy slightly smiled as he answered:"Be blessed too, Galenos Kallerzanis, or should I say lord ἐπιστράτηγος? Please sit down." and he pointed on the two chairs and table that stood at the balcony. While Galenos sat down did he keep Arseniy in sight as he knew that he had to be very careful with this man that had gained quite a reputation in his long life. Arseniy had worked himself up to the most richest and important man within the league in his 54 years of adult life, due to intiguing, fighting and trading. While Galenos talked left his eyes never the sharp ones of Arseniy, as he constantly tried to know what the old man tought. "As you propably know am I soon going to Vishpanyar in order to start my reign there as ἐπιστράτηγος and as you are the ruler of Kaslamkovegrad that lies within Vishpanyar did I think it relevant to see you in person in order to ask your opinion over my rule. Will I find an opponent or an enemy in you?" Galenos studied Arseniy's face while keeping his own face as serene as always but he couldn't see any signs of what Arseniy was thinking on his face. "Well, young ἐπιστράτηγος, I don't know what kind of ruler you will be. Capable or incapable, thrustworthy or unthrustworthy, cruel or kind, weak or strong. What I do know, however, is the fact that Trazentioch and Zolsvegorod, House Kallerzanis and house Zolkrovin have always stood together and I have not forgotten that you were amongst those who defeated the Dolian communists at Kelerv. From my sources have I heard that you're young but capable so combine this all and my opinion about you and your reign are quite good. I must ask, however, what is your opinion about Kaslamkovegrad and the Zolkrovin rule there?" Galenos had to keep himself from smiling as he answered:"I've heard that your son and brother have comitted good work there and the city is a flower. I even think that it deserves more importance in the colony as its industrial heart. Maybe some expansion of the district and some mining monopolies?" Galenos could see slight amusement in Arseniy's eyes when the old man answered:"Yes, that would be nice and I would be very grateful for that. Could I then offer you in return 200 Katyusha rocket launchers as a gift and the promise of support from Kaslamkovegrad and house Zolkrovin whenever needed?" Inside was Galenos bursting of relief and happiness by these words as they were the true sign of Arseniy's support to Galenos but outside didn't Galenos show more than a slight smile."I accept your offer gratefully mylord. I hope that this new friendship will bring us both much good." Arseniy nodded, also with a slight smile on his old face. Them en shook hands and gave eachother papers that finished the exchange of gifts. Although no official alliance was made had Galenos now received the support of Arseniy and that support would remain as Arseniy had now put this money on Galenos and he would keep betting on him and that would only change if Galenos started to become really unreliable or incapable as many powrful houses would note this unofficial alliance.

Galenos spent that night in the palace and left to Krionarlassion with the plane the next day.

Aristeides Scylvardos, πρωτοστράτηγος of the patriarchal church of Krionarlassion, Krionarlassion

Aristeides Scylvardos, also called goldclaw, watched the new ἐπιστράτηγος walking into the patriarchal palace trough the gate below Aristeides' feet. The man was quite young for his position as ἐπιστράτηγος with his 22 years but his other position as heir to one of the member nations of the league, Trazentioch, gave an explanation for his new rank. Aristeides had meeted Galenos before and their talks had been good ones as the young Galenos was one of the few in the league that was able to understand Aristeides' deeper strategical thinking. That had all been three years ago, before Galenos had distinguished himself during the eigth Trazentine-Scandieroni war and the Taronian communist uprising. Aristeides sighed and turned from his sun-warmed spot on the wall to welcome Galenos. Galenos was just handing over his jacket to a servant when Aristeides entered. Galenos turned around to see who entered the audience hall of the πρωτοστράτηγος and Aristeides saw the slight suprise that it was the πρωτοστράτηγος himself. Galenos immidiately bowed and stepped forward to shake Aristeides' hand with the words:"Greetings, lord πρωτοστράτηγος, I hope I haven't taken you away from any matters?" Aristeides shook Galenos' hand and looked him straight in the eye for as long as it took to shake hands, a normal man would look away from Galenos' deep golden-green eyes but Aristeides was not a normal man. Both men stopped looking in eachother's eyes when when Aristeides indicated Galenos to follow him to his office while answering Galenos' formal question:"No, lord ἐπιστράτηγος , I was already on my way here." Patriarchal honour guards opened the door. Aristeides office was one of the most ornated ones in the patriarchal palace, not because of his vanity but to use it to distract and overawe his guests. Aristeides sat down at his desk and allowed Galenos to take seat in front of him. "Well, lord ἐπιστράτηγος, it is of course my turn to speak. What brings you to my humble office?" Galenos smirked and started to speak:"Well, lord πρωτοστράτηγος, I suggest we talk openly and without waisting words to formal sentences as we both know that my rule in Vishpanyar is unsteady and e both know that I'm here to ask support from the church forces to gain proper control over the colony." Aristeides looked at Galenos' face and saw there that the man knew how risky his blunt declaration was. It could either bring Aristeides and the church to his side or it could ruin his carrier. "You're right, speaking plainly is sometimes better. But the style of talking does not make me side with you, what will the church get by supporting you?" "Well, at first will the church be allowed to keep 15.000 men under arms in Vishpanyar. At second will I appoint an officer from the patriarchal guard as my ἔξαρχος(military governor, second in command in Vishpanyar). The third gain will be the permanent rule over a quarter in Zakrioleion and of course will you also gain stability within the colony. In return do I only ask 8000 church soldiers to side with my own and support of the church with my actions." Aristeides understood Galenos' plan. This offer meant no loss for Galenos it would gain Aristeides and the patriarchate a lot. Now it was Galenos' turn to watch the others face, to look wether Aristeides would accept his offer. Aristeides knew he couldn't reject the offer so after a silence of a few minutes did he declare: "Very well then, I guess you have already a contract ready." Galenos nodded and took two scrolls from his briefcase. Aristeides read them and concluded that they indeed contained nothing more than the just made agreement, before signing it. When both men had signed and sealed both scrolls handed Galenos one to Aristeides and the men shook hands. "Congrutiolations, ἐπιστράτηγος. Not many men get what they want in this room. The church armies are rready at any moment so when will you leave?" Galenos tolerated himself a slight smile and said:"We'll leave within four hours so I suggest you start gathering your stuff, lord πρωτοστράτηγος." Aristeides frowned as he answered:"Sorry, but I don't join you in Vishpanyar." "Yes, you do, lord πρωτοστράτηγος. You just allowed me to choose an ἔξαρχος from the officer ranks of the patriarchal guard and I choose you." After that words turned Galenos around, did he walk to the door where he said:"I'll see you in four hours, until then." before closing the door behind his back. Aristeides stared forward for several moments, realizing he had just been outmanoevred. Then he rose as he realized that he had no choice but going to Vishpanyar with the young ἐπιστράτηγος. Aristeides spent the next four hours gathering his 8000 men, informing his high command and the patriarch about his sudden leave and settling matters that needed to be settled before his leave. Galenos spent this four hours with the patriarch in order to be accepted by the church as ἐπιστράτηγος of Vishpanyar, which happened. Four hours later left the first planes and the first of the 18.000 men. The last will arrive in Vishpanyar within a timespan of two weeks.

Note: As πρωτοστράτηγος has Aristeides the right to sign military/political agreement without permission of the patriarch.

Second Note: Both Galenos and Aristeides know that Aristeides will only remain ἔξαρχος until the situation in Vishpanyar is stabile, then another church officer will become ἔξαρχος .

Nihonese militiaman ambushing the St. Demetrios' s order militants, 2015..

*** Vishpanyar, The River delta

And so few days have passed since the fighting begun. In first day of fighting, enemy lost two battalions without almost any losses on Nihonese side; two battalions wiped out in one night. The fanatics that came here to slaughter the Nihonese have learned with hard way that even if sons of Admiral Yi were small in number in this area, their warrior spirit has not decreased by even small percent. Brigadier General Sasaki Kaoru smiled when he was reading the situation reports from his men; Roughly 700 enemies paid in blood for their crimes against innocent people whose only fault was that they were of different faith than fanatics who came to murder them. And 700 of those fanatics were now being eaten by various reducent organisms. Kaoru rose up from his position deep inside the cave hidden in the mountains, where local HQ was located. The Ronin Brigade has made it's name in the battle against the foes of Nihonese nation that day. But now, few days after that, enemy was moving again, with far bigger forces than they originally brought for organized rape, murder and pillage. Those forces however would not be enough, since Nihonese started organizing themselves also. Roughly 600 guns were seized first night of fighting from the enemy; those guns, alongside with all ammunition enemy had (Nihonese captured it instead of destroying) were taken by civilian helpers and through use of bikes and rivers transported to chosei, which made possible to increase the amount of militia inside the town to 1200, since 200 of them the militia took as reserve. Some of those newly recruited militiamen never held gun in their arms before; some were veterans of local militia. But the help came quickly in form 32 - man unit of Jack Kurosawa, Nihonese - American mercenary with very long career in various countries, who came here quickly on his own with few of his friends as he was "Bound by honour to help his kin". Kurosawa was not alone; he brought with himself 31 men, who, while were not exactly armed, were mostly officers and various specialists (communication etc) that the militia could use. Therefore the local hastily organized units in Chosei gotten very good commanders with long experience, though many of them still lacked training and some of their guns were hunting rifles.

Similar situation happened just at the end of first day of fighting in Karvelosh, where the "Bushido" brigade opened it's reserves, which, combined with hunting rifles and armaments which ironically were given to militia by Nihonese Yakuza, and of course local policemen allowed to form certain volunteer units in that city. Yet, this unit was no to take part in combat again; Bushido and Ronin brigades were to fight, being professionals. Civilian militias had only to hold their own cities and prevent the enemy from taking them. But rise of such units, while much inferior in firepower and training to Bushido brigade, allowed the last one to leave the city and take part in fighting directly. Unlike the light infantry Ronin brigade, Bushido brigade was mechanized infantry unit operated on old soviet equipment handed by them after communist government in Ayukryata was toppled by Nihonese intervention. And thus, the Mechanized Brigade embarked into journey into the combat area, using organized civilian group to deliver the oil and ammo to them.

*** Near Niijima

The enemy forces had to walk slowly. First, because they had no means of transport of their own, they were almost without logistics. To suply division sized element in ammunition and food, just as one of major needs of soldiers, you need a lot of vehicles. Yet St. Demetrios order almost had none, which meant that their soldiers not only walked slowly because they had to check if the leaf laying on the ground is not trigger of some trap - and during that few days, the roads were full of wolf holes and various [url-]interesting booby traps that the militants had to walk slowly, and even with that feet pierced by spikes and other nasty things were happening, but also that they had to wait a long time for the supplies to come, since Nihonese blew up most of railways, and ordered the local villages to flee, destroying every food that could not have been taken. Therefore the fanatics would walk very often with empty livers, not to mention that hot temperature, dangerous animals such as snakes and local diseases would probably do also some harm. Additionally each of them could carry only ~ 200 rounds of ammunition to FN FAL (since 7.62 is heavy round, heavier than 5.56), it meant that the time during which they could stay in fire fight was severely limited, and then they would have nothing to shoot at the enemy at. On the Nihonese side, the situation looked differently; each battalion took a group of local civilians who were responsible for supporting it. Those civilians organized series of pre - staged supply points, on which units could resupply during the march, allowing them to quickly cross long distances. The civilians operated also boats, horses and bicycles which allowed it to quickly move the equipment through dense jungle and water canals to the units. The Bushido brigade had more classic supply lines operating trucks and boats which delivered it to them.

The way in which enemy communicated also gave several opportunities. Nihonese have not read their visual signals, but without appropriate command network it meant that their ability to command was severely limited. With no radios, to operate on such distances the enemy had to use phones - perfect for the Nihonese, who quickly gotten access to their communication lines since civilian phones were not exactly had to get into considering they were not encrypted. Using IMSI catchers delivered by local police, militia knew everything. Now, Nihonese knew exactly what the enemy was doing, where he was, and what his orders were. Nihonese command, located in small town named Chibu near the Karvelosh perfectly knew what was happening... and thus, enemy lost before the battle even begun.

It was early morning when the units of Army Group A entered into the ruins of Niijima. It was totally burned; Nihonese have not left anything valuable, and what was worse, were nowhere to be seen. The bodies of the mutilated and laying everywhere. And then, the crusaders realised that the Nihonese were nowhere near this place.

Their reconnaissance failed them totally. What raided Niijima was single battalion - sized formation, which, after it destroyed the unit and cleared arms and wounded, quickly retreated back into the jungles. No Nihonese was ever in this area, though, approximately three light infantry battalions were on this bank, neither of them was anywhere near Niijima nor did they have in plans to hold ground, since any informed commander knew it would be suicide. Those units were in dispersal somewhere; maybe close, maybe not. What remained obvious was, that they were nowhere near Niijima, and the St. Demetrios Order' s attack just hit the void. Yet, road was open into Chosei, where civilians were, since they had nowhere to flee. Most of other villagers fled long ago, and Chosei had the food reserves.... perhaps it was the time to attack it?

Image
Attack on the enemy HQ.

*** 2nd Bank of the River, Rice fields of Toyone

Dawn. The sun slowly risen when the enemy crossed the river and passed by. Then, the whole are was washed with blood.

Unlike on the other bank, this place turned into real hell quickly, thanks to Bushido Brigade advancing here and two light infantry battalions grouped in. This was the bank on which the moment when the enemy crossed it's forces, it begun the assault. The goal was simple, and the mission clear; destroy this fanatics once for all. Additionally using the horses as mean of transport 120mm mortar battalion joined the two infantry battalions in the jungle. The battle was about to begin, and Nihonese command wished it to be decessive.

For the fire support, Nihonese made an interesting thing. There was a small airport near Chibu town, serving mostly for local commercial purposes. On the airport were two civilian cargo planes, both AC - 47 Spooky, used to transport various cargo. The owner, a Nihonese businessman, borrowed them to the militia, which quickly went to work on them. Few hours were enough to restore both aircraft to their original purpose, though they will not have the fire-power possessed by the original, it was not a concern. At dawn, both Spookies started from the airport. First headed on the Enemy HQ, second towards the enemy formation guarding bridge, to synchronize with Nihonese units. Each of them had six KPV HMGs mounted into them, three per each stern, and made to act as a gunship; perfect way to kill huge numbers of enemy infantry.

The enemy totally ignored Nihonese units on this bank, which meant... that a perfect chance for attack begun. For last few days the 4th, 6th and 1st Infantry Battalions / 1st Infantry Brigade "Ronin" have been assembling in here alongside 120mm mortar battalion and recon/sniper company, though not without problems. The initial reconnaissance confirmed amount of enemies in the compound to be approximately 600 - 700 men guarding the high - value targets such as beggar - general. With little thought, the company commanders under Major Nakano Takeshi, man responsible for the Ambush on the highways, quickly formulated the attack plan, simple as always. First, a single company out of the Nihonese unit - under the cover of all mortar units - attack from the north. This was to mock raid of some eager Nihonese militia. The moment when defender's attention was captured full scale assault using three battalions from the east came. Some of them wore taken from the enemy uniforms of St. Demetrios 's order, to further confuse them. Attack was carried by "blooming lotus" way; after the obstacles would be cleared, each unit will form a semi - independent column which will avoid enemy position on the perimeter and quickly launch in - depth attack, seizing every key objective. Then once the enemy would be encircled and leaderless, the units will be one by one destroyed. A single AC - 47 spooky was to provide aid during this attack.

Army group R and D were not so lucky either. They were to face whole Nihonese mechanized brigade in what would be latter known as battle of Toyone rice fields. Against first Abbalasid regiment went two Nihonese mechanized battalions and single tank battalion, supporter by artillery battalion. Plan of attack was simple; a manoeuvre called "chopping" involved taking the two Mechanized battalions striking at single company of the enemy after the 150mm artillery will soften the positions through bombardment. Initial barrage involved the 18 howitzers firing three rounds each - meaning 56 anti - infantry Sh - 501 shells, each with 690 bullets, all aimed at chopping down the enemy unit exposed on the rice field. Then the attack of the mechanized formation will come; the infantry supported with their TOPAS 2AP APC's HMGs will attempt t break the enemy line, allowing tanks to get in and pass through. Then encirclement would come and since the Nihonese firepower was far bigger than their own. A single tank company was to be kept as a reserve.

The same moment an assault was to be launched on Army group D, carried by forces of a single mechanized battalion and the Brigade's MRL battery. The same way was to be employed; but preceded by fire from 6x BM - 21 Grad, each launching 40 tubes which equated 240 missiles falling on the Army group D. Grad, while old, was still a worthy design; and fanatics were going to learn that hard way, especially that 2nd Spooky was to support them...

ORBAT:
- 1st, 4th and 6th Light Infantry Battalions/ Ronin Brigade
- 120mm Mortar and recon platoon / Ronin Brigade
- 2x AC - 47 Spooky civilian version based improvised gunship.
- Whole Bushido Mechanized brigade.

Gregorios Aballas, River Delta

He was fucked, this was Gregorios' main tought at Toyone. He had received constant reports about Nihonese attacks at Friyaka and other Demetrian troops and now were his own army groups (R and D) under attack. At the moment that his spies had reported a Nihonese advance to his positions had all soldiers returned to their trenches in the Rice Fields. Although the trenches were carefully made and of very good use was Aballas not prepared for the artillaery barrage that rained upon the Demetrians. Although the trenches saved many did they fail many too and when the rain of shells stopped saw Aballas the bodies of dead brothers all around him. Still, Aballas was not the man to give up so he rose from his trench and shouted:"Up my brothers, I'm alive and you are all too. Take your weapon and keep ready in your trench as the enemy will advance within a minute. Stand tall with me brothers, God is with us!" After men had returned this last sentenced was Aballas sure that his men would stand, they could not flee so they had to fight to death or victory. Then took Aballas his light gun and shot Two Red parachute flares in the air, knowing that Army Group A would now return to help them while Army Groups B and C would keep their positions. At that point started the Nihonese attack. It became the same hell all battles were. Both sides fired everything they got at their foes. With the militias only having FN FAL rifles, grenades and M1A1 bazooka's to defend themselves were the Nihonese in the most advantageous position, certainly after the artillery barrage. The trenches of the Demetrians, however, kept the balance of the battle more equal as the Nihonese were forced to attack the well diiged in Demetrians. Aballas knew that his firce would lose in time from the Nihonese so all his hope was put upon army group A that could defeat the Nihonese from behind. All Aballas could do now was keeping the Nihonese off until army group A arrived. The Nionese artillery barrage had cost the Demetrians 900 lives.

Friyaka, the River Delta

In Friyaka, the same situation happened with digged-in Demetrians fighting superior Nihonese forces. When the Nihonese attack started were the Demetrians totally suprised and 300 died without utting up any form of resistance when the Nihonese took street after street. The Demetrians, however, had been ready to march soon so they had easy access to weapons and ammo and they started to defend themselves to repel the Nihonese. Another hundred died during the formation, fighting only for their own life. The last 300 Demetrians were now able to form a front and between the ruins of Friyaka did they soon start a ferocious defensive battle.

Galenos Kallerzanis, the plane towards Vishpanyar

Galenos was just writing a letter to the Vishpan king, called Vishpan LVIII, when Aristeides Scylvardos entered Galenos' compartment of the plane. "Did you know about the fighting between our faith militias and local Nihonese militias?" asked Aristeides with loud voice. Galenos put his hands together and answered:"Yes, I have seen some reports. But why should this interest the goverment? Neither of the sides have asked for our help or have done anything against the Taeletean rule." Aristeides said:"I know, but those faith militias stand for our church and our kin, if they lose does that mean loss of face to our rule and the curch. We need to intervene to defeat his Faith militias. I demand the right to join forces with the faith militias and I ask for government support." Galenos answered the older an with calm voice:"You can pull in as many church as you want in that conflict but nor you nor any colonial soldier will get involved. We cannot afford any conflict with Nihon at the moment as I need to consolidate my rule first. Besides, have you seen in what bad state our colonial forces here are? Even if I pull in all my legionaries and Hikanatoi(Elite Palace Guard) are we still nowhere." "You talk about consolidating your rule but it will never be consolidated if you don't bring order to that Delta." said Aristeides with slightly angry voice. "I know, but I didn't say I would not bring order to the delta region." said Galenos with slight amusement "After I've paraded trough Zakrioleion and after I've taken residence in the palace will I go to Karvelosh and Zarmeloch while you keep Bion Valaxes under control and I will order the Nihonese and Demetrians to put down their arms while calling that Tancred Filaurangius back to Zakrioleion with me. I will also install loyalists of mine as regents in Zarmeloch and Karvelosh to stop the quarrreling of the nobles there. Does that statisfy you, Aristeides?" "You know it doesn't." answered Aristeides "As it will put your life in danger and it will keep us from showing our supriority over the Nihonese, but I'll obey and act as you say in this case." Galenos nodded and said:"Thank you, Aristeides, I know that this is not as you like it but it has to happen if we want to rule this colony properly. Now, please leave so I can write a letter to our most esteemed Vishpan king." Aristeides slightly bowed and left the compartment. When he was gone sighed Galenos before he took his pencil to finish his letter.

From Galenos Kallerzanis, ἐπιστράτηγος of Vishpanyar
To: Vishpan LVIII, Nadī rājā of the Vishpan river

Greetings, your most noble majesty.

I write you this letter to inform you of the fact that ἐπιστράτηγος Jason Eudalros has passed away. In the few days after his death have I become the new ἐπιστράτηγος. I promise you that this will not have any negative influence on you, your dynasty and your people. The necessary hings need to be done, however, and I'll soon travel to your palace in order to accept your vassalage. Until that time do I hope that your vows and friendship with Taelete are enough to trust your loyalty to the colonial rule.

I look forrward to our meeting

signed

Galenos Kallerzanis, ἐπιστράτηγος of Vishpanyar, φρουρός of Zakrioleion and ἡγεμών of the Trazentines.

Zakrioleion, Vishpanyar, the Airport

The sound of seagulls, a burning sun and many exotic flavours welcomed Galenos to Vishpanyar when he stepped out of his plane. Galenos looked around for a few seconds to make sure that his guards controlled the airfield before he walked down the stairs of the plane. Galenos noticed that his uniform was too hot for standing in this open sun here in Vishpanyar. A man walked forward with a beautiful black stallion on his side. The man wore the colours of Galenos' house. "Mylord, your horse." Galenos nodded and mounted his horse while he glanced at his 900 already arrived honour guards of whom 400 were mounted. Galenos rode to the first ranks while Aristeides mounted his stallion behind him. When both men were at the front of the army raised Galenos his hand. At this command started the 900 to move towards the gates that separated the city of Zakrioleion from the airport. Thousands of cheering people filled the walls and other thousands stood besides the road. When the gates opened saw Galenos National honour guards guarding the sides of the road. When Galenos had passed trough the gates was he welcomed by the happily shouted word 'επιστρατηγος' or even 'Βασιλεύς', Galenos futural title as Trazentine emperor. The parade went on until the Colonial palace, seat of the επιστρατηγος and the administrative heart of Vishpanyar and Zakrioleion. At the Central Square stood regiments from all over Vishpanyar in battle formation, Vishpan regiments, Noble guards, Church regiments, Governmental honour guards, colonial troops and of course the veteran sailors of the Vishpanyar fleet. While his mounted guards circeled around the Great Fountain and the pillar of Foundation rode Galenos to the stairs of the palace where a group of high officers and officials stood between the pillars of the Palace's frontside. In the center stood Bion Valaxes, a harsh, middle-aged man in a white, richly decorated admiral uniform. Bion looked openly hostile to Galenos whom he considered a threat of his position. Galenos accepted Bion's silent provocation and led his horse over the red carpet up to so many stairs that Bion and his consorts had to step back. Galenos then turned his horse so his face looked towards the square where soldiers and civilians looked at him full of expectation. And while Galenos Kallerzanis started to speak entered a small group of his men the palace:"Citizens of Zakrioleion, Wardens of Vishpanyar. Before you stands your επιστρατηγος and φρουρός. I will speak openly to you, inhabitants of this ancient city and country, I have been elected for this position due to my birthright, not my capability. I will, however, try to show myself a worthy leader of this glorious land. But for that will I need your help as we're surrounded by enemies and I can't keep them all off you on my own.But I'm sure that we are able to keep anyone off we stand in cooporation, the people, army and επιστρατηγος of Vishpanyar. All Hail Vishpanyar, All hail Taele, All hail the επιστρατηγος!" At that moment was a big banner with the sigil of house Kallerzanis rolled out from the balcony of the palace by the men that Galenos had sent inside. At the same moment rose all guards of Galenos their guns and swords and shouted:"χαλάζι(Hail)" and they shouted it again and again, soon followed by the Regiments and citizens of the city. When silence had returned drew Galenos his sword and did he made a slash on his hand as he spoke:"I, Galenos of House Kallerzanis. επιστρατηγος of Vishpanyar, φρουρός of Zakrioleion and ηγεμόνας of Trazentioch, swear hereby always to protect and never to abandon the people of Vishpanyar until they release me of this vow." To put power behind his words rose Galenos his fist, red of blood and then exclaimed the masses again:"χαλάζι(Hail)", this time before Galenos' own guards. Then, under the cheering of the masses rode Galenos into the palace upon his horse. A move that made his opponents frown and his supporters cheer.

Four Hours Later, Zakrioleion, the Colonial Palace

Galenos sat behind his esk in his just furnished office. Aristeides stood behind his right and ναύαρχος Bion Valaxes sat in front of him. Galenos started to speak:"I think that you already know why you are here, Bion. Although not all of my forces have arrived yet is my support in the city bigger than yours and as I'm about to leave again do I want you to pledge your allegiance to me." Bion looked suspiciously at Galenos and said:"Where are you going then, lord επιστρατηγος? Have you found a new title that's even higher?" Galenos smirked:"No, ναύαρχος, I'm leaving to the River Delta to secure that region under my rule. As you know is the region currently torn apart by quarreling nobles, militias and a bugging κονόσταυλος and my rule in Vishpanyar won't be recognized if I don't clear that mess up. Besides, I want to appoint people loyal to me in that region." Bion tought, yes he wants to appoint loyal people everywhere, soon me and Jason's old guard are being removed on all positions. Something needs to happen. He answered:"Alright then, mylord. What vow do you want me to swear?" Galenos smiled and said:"Well, the heaviest one, I guess. I need my ναύαρχος to be loyal. You'll swear 'Ariston's vow'." Bion's eyes slightly widened after these words as 'Ariston's vow' was the most demanding vow in the Taeletean League. The vow was first sworn by the legendary δεσπότης Ariston Trefellos 2700 years ago. Bion knew that it would be very hard to oppose Galenos after this vow that he almost couldn't break but whatchoice did he have? Galenos would propably kill him immidiately if Bion refused to swear the vow. "I, Bion of house Valaxes, swear hereby on God, my life and my legacy that I will always be a loyal servant of Galenos of house Kallerzanis and the Taeletean rule in Vishpanyar, I won't hinder, hurt or strive them. I will obey, protect and assist them against everyone until the end of my days. If I will break this vow can God bring my soul to hell, can my ruler take my life and can my enemies destroy my legacy. This is my vow that will be operative until my dead or until I'm released of this vow." Galenos nodded and said:"That is done than, ναύαρχος, you'll keep your rank until you break this vow, I promise you that." he continued "I'll go to Karvelosh tomorrow with 3000 men at my back to secure the region. I want you to prepare enough transport ships to bring my men there and I want 5 frigates to protect these ships. In my absence will Aristeides rule in Zakrioleion in my stead, obey him like you would obey me. You'll assist Aristeides with ruling and you will continue your old duties as admiral. Is everything understood?" "Yes, lord επιστρατηγος, I'll forfill your orders." Galenos nodded and smiled:"Thank you, Bion, you're dismissed for now as you'll have many things to do now." Bion agreed and bowed before leaving the room, still thinking about his just sword vow. When he had left turned Aristeides to Galenos:"Well, now that is done do I think that I'm going to gather your lord's escort, I guess you want also colonial troops and honour guards with you?" "Yes, that would be great." answered Galenos "Another thing, I'm going to write a national declaration for the Delta region, I guess you can spread it over the region?" Aristeides nodded and left the room. Galenos took his pencil and papers and started to write his declaration and a letter to Tancred Filaurangius.

The next day left Galenos and his fleet to Karvelosh.

Note: Galenos is no man of the people but he is a man who knows of how well use the masses can be.

Greetings κονόσταυλος,
Recently has ἐπιστράτηγος Jason Eudalros passed away, in the days after his death have I been made new ἐπιστράτηγος of Vishpanyar. I normally would have sent this message just to invite you to meet me so you could swear your allegiance to me. However, word has reached me that you have gathered a big mercenary army with Taeletean state money without a proper reason as it seems to me. I'll give you a chance to speak with me about your reasons behind that and for that reason do I call you to Karvelosh where we'll meet. You are not allowed to take more than 400 men with you. If you refuse to come to me will I officially outlaw you.

Written with hope for a good future

0300
16km West of Niijima, LZ Tijger
1 Section, 11 Platoon, Echo Company, 1st Arcerion Special Operations Regiment

The back of the helicopter bucked wildly as the thermal columns of the jungle made it surge up and down. The pilot was tired, not only from this flight but from the dozens of others earlier in the day moving Arco soldiers to their assembly areas. Over the day helicotpers had begun to wind down for maintenance, but as the most senior pilot in his squadron, he had to take this mission as much out of pride for his leadership role as for his breadth of experience. It also didn't help that his LZ was an unmarked piece of grass in the middle of a jungle. Behind the pilot and co-pilot, the crew chief watched out of the corner of his eye as the final preparations were made. The Oberfeldwebel was checking the other three men in his assault group over, and next to him an Unteroffizier was doing the same. Nametapes were gone, unit and national insignia had been left behind. Bayonets, knives, and dogtags had all been blackened. Their faces were a mixture of anger, impatience, professionalism and camouflage paint. The crew chief shuddered, knowing that these men would come back days later smelling like filth and having removed their enemies from existence. "33 Alpha Einer, Rooi, I repeat, Rooi." The codeword for 2 minutes until insertion was given, and magazines, with gleaming 7.92mm rounds disappearing into the magazine housing of their rifles. Fingers flashed and soon all of the men of 1 Section knew that they were about to step off of the helicopter. The safety harnesses were un-tethered, and legs began dangling over the sides of the helicopter.

The helicopter flared, engines roaring as the air frame struggled to slow itself down. Gloved hands grabbed for purchase inside as it quickly descended onto the dark jungle floor below. The pilot was scanning frantically but methodically with his NVGs, ensuring there was nothing that would cause his aircraft to lurch into the earth below. "All clear, dust off" and with that the helicopter left, lighter and with a noticeable difference in the amount of crew.

0315

Oberfeldwebel Conrad Hammerich checked the wristwatch on the inside of his forearm. 0315. Listening halt is complete. They had heard no signs of enemy activity that were aroused by the helicopter's passing, and the silent stalking through the jungle was about to begin. He touched the man in the prone in front of him, and gave a quick hand signal, which the gunner returned then passed on to the next man. Conrad opened his compass, the bearing already pre-set before they had taken off, and stepped behind the gunner, who he whispered to begin walking to the South East. The patrol of eight Arco Special Operations soldiers quietly left the LZ, and from the rear of the column the radio operator, using his ANAF/PRC-111 sent out a codeword to the electronic warfare signals post a few kilometers away, "2-21 Bravo this is Alpha Echo 11-1, Blauw, I repeat, Blauw. Out."

0345

They had been slowly working their way through the jungle, and had trekked over two kilometers, and were soon to be at their expected target. Conrad called a halt, and sent his men to ground, where they began concealing themselves in the brush. He walked over to a tree, and on the North side attached a green glow stick, knowing that the enemy in this area were to his South and East. He took a few paces away, checked that it was concealed from prying eyes, and waited. Not a few moments had passed when a young Nihonese man and a companion of his approached silently, and would have gone largely undetected had it not been for the NVGs and a rather sharp-eared Unteroffizier who pointed it out. Conrad whistled softly, and the attention of the group's leader was drawn to him. He stood up, and showed empty palms to the nervous militiamen, and they slowly lowered their weapons, noticing that he was an actual soldier, and he slowly moved his hand, and from his left thigh pocket pulled out a tiny coloured Arcerion flag, the orange, white and blue bringing them some comfort. He motioned for his interpreter, and he had a quick discussion with the militiamen, and then turned to Conrad. "They said they'll take us to the local brigade commander. Might take an hour or two, there is patrols we have to avoid." Conrad nodded, and waved at his Unteroffizier, giving him the hand signal for a staggered formation off of the guides. "Tell the guides to fall in with our formation, leader out front with me." He nodded, and soon the tiny band of warriors stepped off into the jungle night, to begin the process of bringing regular forces to bear in the river delta.

Nihonese militiaman on patrol.

*** Vishpanyar, 041400AJULY15

Problem for Aballas was, that fight was won by the Nihonese long before it even begun. It was because Nihonese had much superior firepower to the enemy formations. The militia was a mechanized force with superior equipment; and as soon as advance begun HMGs mounted inside towers of TOPAS 2AP very quickly flooded the St. Georgios's units with a rain of steel constantly falling at them. It was totally without mercy, totally without any form of stop. The artillery however, did exactly what it had to, because instead of dispersing fire, it focused it. This caused death of many Demetrians... and victory for the Nihonese. Because exactly at that moment Nihonese Mechanized company headed straight at the hole caused by the fire of Nihonese artillery. Heavy machine guns mounted on TOPAS 2AP dwarfed every fire mean that Demetrians had, and WWII era Bazookas were not exactly effective against more modern APCs.

With that in mind, the mechanized unit advanced in full fury against the weakened by artillery barrage line of Demetrians. It would soon trample over them with their threads, and pave a way for another unit - this time tanks, which will complete the destruction. Of course even with protection of APCs this was not without losses, especially on open terrain - so far Nihonese lost 20 men, but that did not concerned them that much. To support the assault, use of Type 26 single - shot thremobaric grenade launchers was employed. Each of those shots had 10m blast radius, more than enough to destroy the fortified troops. So far, the Abballasids were doomed, and nothing could stop their demise.

How army group A planned to cross wide and deep river with enemy nearby remained still in question of Nihonese commanders in that area. They knew that each attempt would end in massacre, therefore they were not worried.

In Friyaka situation looked even worse, since Nihonese did not launched typical "front" attack. Their quickly moving, semi - independent columns were more interested in capturing key objectives and destroying enemy command posts in first place rather than taking control over area - and they did it perfectly. Even if Demetrians formed line, it did not matter, as Nihonese strategy was to avoid enemy defences on perimeter - because when they did it, Nihonese had control of every key structure within the town, with Demetrian commanders either dead or captured, leaving Demetrians paralysed by shock and lack of organisation So far, it did not matter. Their line had no real value since it operated without command and had Nihonese units behind them. Using lack of organisation, the Nihonese units simply begun to work on separating the enemy formations who had nobody to command them. It was rather a slaughter than a battle; with type 26 single shot RPGs being constantly fired at enemy buildings to root the Demetrians out.

Fujioka Jirou, a Nihonese corporal, smiled as he and his fire team advanced in column array using bounding overwatch to quickly advance between the bushes on the outskirts of the Friyaka, straight onto their target. They were getting close to the objective that was given to them; a villa on the outskirts, which once used to be most expensive home in this area. This villa was now being surrounded by the Nihonese militia. It looked beautifully; the expensive windows shined in the morning sun as the Nihonese units were seizing the town. They were not alone in here; 2nd unit was already infiltrating the area from another side at the back. In the front Nihonese also were preparing; on given signal all units had to coordinate the attack. Two infiltration teams right now gotten below the fence and took positions inside the garden.

On given sign, two barks of dog, the attack begun. Two soldiers, each from separate infiltration team, fired a single flashbang from his grenade launcher into the window of the 2nd floor. Then, the frontal assault begun, when at the same time, using it as cover, the two infiltration teams used this as cover to launch attack on the upper floor, with grappling hooks + line acting as insertion methods. Single soldier took aim at the windows with his Type 3 rifle, second one at the lower floor, while first two begun to climb upwards into their target windows.

Hoping to find in there the local commander of the whole unit. He already was unable to command his men because he was cut off by the Nihonese without means to communicate his men.

Today, God of their fathers, Jesus Christ, granted the Nihonese enormous victory; one which their enemies will remember for a long time...

*** Chosei 040230AJULY15

The march taken Arceri commandos through the dense and bug - filled jungle straight into Chosei, the city of the brave, as Nihonese all around the world called it now. The city itself was prepared for a siege; the militiamen ordered all civilians to move into the centre of the town, while turning outskirts into real fortress. Each road leading inside the town was blocked with rubble, various other paths mined and filled with traps. Nihonese, instead of more classic defence lines, formed a network of supporting, semi - independent strong points based on highest buildings in the area, which were locked and connected via tunnel network. Each of the windows on ground floor was shut and made inaccessible by quickly being integrated into the wall, doors were blocked by rubble while the upper floors were turned into defensive positions. Armed militiamen patrolled entire area, while the sniper positions and MG nests controlled entire neighbourhoods via long range fire.

Yet the militiamen were strangely calm. Arceri commandos noticed various firearms; mostly Type 3 and FN FAL rifles (captured from demetrians), but some of them were armed in variety of other models, including improvised SMGs to production of which local factory once producing vacuum cleaners was turned to. Various others had hunting rifles, and many fielded improvised RPGs or less home - made Nihonese Type 24 recoilless rifles. Some men were sent to crew hell cannons which were to provide the fire support for the defenders.

The Arceri militiamen were greet by a short Nihonese man. They knew well who he was. Nakano Takeshi, aka "Tiger of Yahiko", now promoted to Associate Colonel. The man whose face appeared on TV after his famous ambush wiped out entire battalion of Demetrians without any losses. From that time on, he became face of the conflict; media wanted to get interviews with him, and since he was by nature charismatic figure, Nakano allowed them. He still asked them to give all the glory for the victories to Jesus Christ, not to himself. Nihonese were protestants and everybody knew that; and for them, this war was sort of holy; waged not to spread the faith, but in defence of human dignity. Therefore a duty to honour and God for every Nihonese.

They met in what used to be a teahouse, now was command post. He saluted them, then he spoke:

"Thank you for coming" he smiled "I heard that Arceri military will send someone. Thanks God!"

He turned his eyes into the outskirts, from where they could expect assault:

"I have to apologize my dear friends, but General Kaoru is now commanding assault on Demetrian main body. I am in charge of all units within this city. As you see, we are poorly armed, but we have superior fighting spirit, God on our side - and what is best, our enemy are total amateurs who broken every rule of warfare thus far. They are too busy plundering and raping to fight properly."

Still there was something strange inside the eyes of Associate Colonel Nakano. He looked at them now:

"I am more concerned about the Taeletian government. I doubt they will not try to disarm us after what happened here... and those scum did not lifted a finger when the fanatics murdered their loyal citizens and militia which shed it' blood for them... God at least allowed us to win." he paused for a while "I doubt that Demetrian main body will hold out for long in any case."

ULTIMATUM

Postby New Aeyariss » Mon Jul 13, 2015 2:09 pm

OFFICIAL MESSAGE OF THE EMPIRE OF GREATER NIHON

Image

"名誉 忠義 義"

"HONOUR, LOYALTY, RIGHTEOUSNESS!"

ATTN: Taeletian League.
SUBJECT: Ultimatum.
ENCRYPTION: PUBLIC

Dear leadership of Taeletian League, Greetings with honour!

I, Maki Kojiro, Shogun by the grace of Almighty God of the Imperial Armed Forces and whole Empire of Greater Nihon am writing this letter to you with my heart filled with sadness. Sadness because lost lives of brave and valiant Nihonese people who were murdered because of their faith and nationality. So far, the reason why the Empire of Greater Nihon had not intervened yet, was, that our brothers in Vishpanyar proven to be more than capable of facing the thread, and so far they destroyed every resistance that arose against them. Yet as now, I need to inform you of something;

You told Nihonese militias to disarm - thing we can not tolerate. The Nihonese government wishes to remind to Government of Taeletian league that it was Taeletian league's responsibility to protect the citizens on their own soil. As now, Taeletian league proven that it is unable to even think of providing peace and security within the region. When it all begun, not a single Taeletian soldier intervened to stop the genocide. Your league only became concerned when the victories of our brave countrymen fighting outnumbered ten to one broken the enemy and sent him back to his father, the Devil and Serpent of Eden.

Additionally the Empire of Greater Nihon wishes to remind Galenos Kallerzanis that Nihonese militias do not have to disarm because they were acting according to treaty they signed with previous governor, who signed it on behalf of Taeletian League. Therefore, actions of Galenos Kallerzanis constitute nothing more than attempts to subjugate parts of his own security forces. Knowing that he did not even lifted a finger when our countymen were being murdered, the Empire of Greater Nihon announces the following:

a) Remnants of St. Demetrios order have to disarm and give themselves to Nihonese custody.

b) The Nihonese government will create a commission to investigate crimes against Nihonese people.

c) Taeletian League security forces have to withdraw all planned or already carried actions against Nihonese Self - Defence Forces.

d) Galenos Kallerzanis has to imminently withdraw his threats to Nihonese Self - Defence Forces.

e) Reparations have to be paid by Taeletian League to every Nihonese family affected by attacks of the Medicant Order of St. Demetrios, including for every soldier who refused to act upon the slaughter.

Not to stand behind our brothers in the time of need is a dishonour to a Nihonese - dishonour we shall not bear. Failure to meet those terms will result in acknowledging by Nihonese government that Taeletian League is not longer capable of upholding law and order on area of Vishpanyar, and thus, full scale Nihonese military intervention to root out anarchy from said lands and remove security threat anarchy in that colony poses to our people.

Thank you,

- Maki Kojiro, Shogun of the Empire of Greater Nihon and highest commander of the Imperial Armed Forces.
- Murakami Akira, Prime Minister of the Empire of Greater Nihon.

Rising Tensions, Part 1of 2

Postby Taelete » Tue Jul 21, 2015 12:41 pm

Tancred Filaurangius, Western River Delta

Tancred openly laughed when he first saw Galenos' letter and declaration:"That new ἐπιστράτηγος is certain of his position, it seems. He will have a lot to learn about Vishpanyar, nobody will come to his aid. Karvelosh will be his end." Everyone in the command tent looked at Tancred and a Vishpan commander remarked:"The Karveloshi nobles won't oppose him as long as he has that army of his at his back." Tancred looked contemptuously at the man and answered:"Of course not, oaf. But nobody will help him either. And if it hasn't occured to you yet, we outnumber them easily. If we act fast will we be able to eliminate this new ἐπιστράτηγος, giving us open game in the River Delta Region." One of the Pefkiot commanders asked:"Are you openly going to rebel against the Taeletean rule?" Tancred answered:"Yes, I will. Anarchy reigns Zarmeloch and if we can manage to kill the ἐπιστράτηγος at Karvelosh will there be nobody in the River Delta Region that could oppose us. At that point would we have enough industrial centers and enough agricultural regions under our command to maintain ourselves and besides that is the River Delta Region easy to protect. We could create our own state, gentlemen." "As long as you pay us and as long as you keep your ambitions realistic will we follow you, but if not, we'll leave." said the Pefkiot. God damn all mercenaries! Tought Tancred in silence. "And what about the Mendicant Order and the Nihonese militias?" remarked a Vishpan commander. Tancred answered:"One of them will destroy the other, we will ally ourselves with the victor, brining them an offer they cannot decline." he continued to talk against the Vishpan commander:"I heard that your men spotted something important on the road?" "Someone important indeed, master." answered the Vishpan commander "And we have taken her captive, it was Esther Larana, sister of Anna Larana, the fled αντιβασιλέας of Zarmeloch." Tancred rose from his chair and said:"Thank God. Esther can be the key to Anna Larana and it would be great to have Anna abdicating as αντιβασιλέας of Zarmeloch. Question her about the route her sister will take southwards and send 300 Pefkiots to arrest Anna." At the point when Tancred finished talking entered a Vishpan messenger the room who said:"Mylord, the Claanyan mercenaries have arrived." Tancred looked up and smiled:"Not a moment to early." he paused for a moment and said then:"Send them where we can use them best, at Zarmeloch. The Claanyans will prove more than able to take the by anarchy struck city what will provide us of support in the back when we're at Karvelosh. Now, gentlemen, it's time to prepare your forces for the long march ahead. The march order will be the following: The vanguard will be formed by the Pefkiots who are followed by the Ramcloaks and my household guards while the Vishpans come as last with the baggage train." The officers bowed and left the command tent, all with other toughts about what should happen.

Galenos Kallerzanis, Colonial Palace, Karvelosh

Galenos looked out over Karvelosh from his tower window. He and his 3000 troops had paraded trough Karvelosh only a few hours earlier and it seemed they had to be used again very soon, this time for real fighting. Karvelosh, this stinking pile of shit and the industrial heart of Vishpanyar was under threat. Galenos looked down on the factories and slums of the lower parts of the city before his eyes went back to the palaces and offices of the Upper city and ended at the Colonial Square that was lying in front of the Colonial Palace in which Galenos had taken residence. Galenos turned around and looked into the room before him. It was a richly decorated room full of paintings, tapestries and marble busts. In the center of the room stood a big, gilded table surrounded by chairs. Only few of these chairs were filled as Galenos had invited ony his highest commanders to this meeting: Pelias Poulmannos, the young regent of the city, Diokles Hadamros, the commander of the Colonial troops in the city, Manouel Tazkanes, the vice-admiral of Bion Valaxes who commanded the five frigates and Arsiteides Scylvardos who was just flown over from Zakrioleion.

Galenos started to speak:"Gentlemen, as you all too well know are we here in a very precarious position. According to the last reports is Tancred closing in on Karvelosh with higher speed than we'd expected. Their won't be enough time to fortify this city properly unless we win time, and exactly that is going to be a problem as his army seems to stand out of several dozens of thousands." Galenos paused to let this work in on everyone before he continued:"I have tought out a way to stop them but as I cannot speak as an experienced military commander do I ask for advise. My plan was to do the only thing that could proof effective: An attack. Tancred, of course, knows this will be our only chance of weakening him and he will prepare his vanguard for this, but I doubt that these mercenaries will listen careful and I think that an attack could still proof worth the costs, especially when carried out by a capable commander, what do you think?"

All members nodded but Galenos saw that of all only Aristeides was really thinking deep about the plan, Pelias didn't even seem to care at all. Galenos had to hide his smile, of all people in the room was only Aristeides of true value to the operation.

When it seemed all in the room had agreed to Galenos' plan did he continue:"Very well then, I hereby appoint Aristeides Scylvardos as executive commander of the offensive. Aristeides, you'll gather three Battalions tht will function under your command. Diokles, Pelias and Manouel, you'll gather all remaining forces in the city and form battalions out of them. With all remaining forces do I also mean city guards, policemen, household guard and continue like that, we'll need all armed troops we can find if we want to survive this."

After these words turned Galenos to the window and said:"That was all, gentlemen, go on and do your duty if you want to live another day."

Tancred Filaurangius, Western River Delta

Tancred looked out over the ruined jungle around him, everywhere were lying scatered bodies and burned remains of tanks and other IFV's. It had been a disaster, the Pefkiots, although warned, hadn't been prepared for the Taeletean attack and they hadn't been in formation when suddenly an artillery barrage opened that struck the points where most Pefkiots were gathered, directly after the artillery attack came the ground forces. Masses of Leopard 2 and Dardo IFV tanks appeared and brought death to the Pefkiots as they approached by all accessable ways while infantry attacked from the ways that were inaccessable for the tanks. At the point that the well-trained Pefkiots formed up for a counter-attack had already several thousands of them been killed by the three Taeletean battalions, one of Patriarchal Church soldiers, one local greek tank battalion and one battalion of Trazentine legionaries. That last battalion had given new fuel to Tancred's concern that Galenos was moving groups of the commonly feared Trazentine legionaries to Vishpanyar. The Pefkiot counter-attack, however, proved succesful as numbers had decided the battle and for every Taeletean had Tancred five Pefkiots. After four hours of bloody fighting had the Taeletean commander, who was later identified as Aristeides Scylvardos, taken up position with his last fifty men on a hill. All reports told that not a single Taeletean had run, but what could be expected of Trazentine legionaries and Church soldiers. And while the Pefkiots were hesitating to attack Scylvardos appeared suddenly a battalion of the colourful Evzones. The Pefkiots, feeling safely in the tought that they had defeated the Taeletean attack, were again unprepared for the attack and suffered again many deads. But the Evzones didn't continue to rout and attack the Pefkiots, they went to the hill in order to safe Aristeides and his fifty men. The Pefkiots, expecting another big attack, slightly retreated before they advanced again. This gave Aristeides' men and the Evzones time to retreat. The Pefkiots, however, became now aware of the fact that they now only had to deal with 500 Evzones without any IFV's or air support. The Pefkiots then pursued the Taeleteans and killed twohundred of the Evzones while losing only 70 men on their own side. Aristeides and the other Evzones, however, managed to escape to Karvelosh and were able to cross the riverarm that separates Karvelosh from Tancred's army by the transport ships with which they had been brought to Karvelosh from Zakrioleion and in Karvelosh were they, for the moment, safe as Tancred didn't want more extreme losses by thoughtless acting. When Tancred's officers had counted the dead bodies had they come to both embarrasing and shocking numbers, 1650 Taeleteans(including the killed Evzones) against a number of around 7000 Pefkiots. Following the news of these numbers deserted another 1300 Pefkiots. It was for Tancred, who could not miss a single man, a catastrophe, something that was made even worse by the escape of Aristeides Scylvardos, one of Galenos' best commanders. Tancred looked up from this toughts that only made him feel bad and turned around from the sight of the massacre as he entered the rich homestead called 'Hikarros', which was destinated as his High Command now the area was secured. While Tancred made his way up the stairs to give his generals new orders was his attention asked by one of his spymasters.

"Mylord Tancred, important news from the east." said the man. Tancred nodded to indicate that the spymaster could continue so the man continued:"It seems that most of the Demetrian forces have been defeated at Toyone and our agents there say that Gregorios Aballas is amongst the dead."

Both Tancred and his staff were stunned due to suprise. The balance of power had been lying heavily with the Demetrians. While Tancred and his staff were just realizing the result of this news went the phone of one of the staff commanders. The man quickly took up the phone and said:"Hello?" before falling silent. He slowly looked at Tancred and said with wavering voice:"Mylord Tancred, The Nihonese Empire has just sent an ultimatum to the Taeletean League that propably isn't going to be accepted."

The whole staff started to slowly show smiles as the tension with Nihon would likely draw much attention and forces from the Taeletean League, attention and forces that would otherwise have been turned against Tancred and his army.

After a few moments of silence joined Tancred their smiling and spoke:"Mark my words, loyal friends. As this day opens a new future for us. After a though beginning will our rebellion soon prove succesful. Galenos Kallerzanis won't receive help from Zakrioleion anymore as that would give the Nihonese an opportunity to take Zakrioleion that they just wouldn't be able to reject and no help from Zakrioleion means no help at all for Galenos. This means we are in a superior position to crush Galenos and his rule over the Delta River Region. I'll send word to the Nihonese Empire to offer them our full support and assistance to let them know we'll side with them if war breaks out. This should grant us some credit with the Nihonese that will in that case certainly support our rebellion." He paused before continuing:"Assemble the men and follow me to the balcony, I'll present my lans to both you and the men." While staff officers bowed and followed his orders, still smiling, walked Tancred to the side of the room where he said to his personal eunuch, Bojas, the following:"Prepare the flag, as soon as I say the agreed sentence will you have your servants waving them from all windows." Bojas nodded and walked away.

As soon as Tancred, now fully prepared, appeared at the balcony was he able to look down on masses of Vishpans, Mercenaries and household guards that had all come to hear what he had to say. Tancred started to speak with loud but calm voice:"Greetings, my soldiers. I bring with me good tidings that will free your hearts from fear if that has ever been there. It seems that the Mendicant Order of Saint Demetrios has been defeated by the Nihonese self-defence militias. The Demetrian commander, Gregorios Aballas, has been killed with most of his men and only few Demetrians remain. This event has been followed by an ultimatum from the Nihonese Empire to the Taeletean League as a whole. This is good news for usas it brings even higher tensions between the League and the Empire which will take forces from the League that were turned against us against Nihon. It is in this way safe to say that Galenos Kallerzanis won't get help from the Colonial forces in Zakrioleion nor from any other forces which means me have open game in the whole River Delta Region. Now that has happened is it time to forget the failures of the past. A moment has come to leave all behind up to an even less controlled future, a future as legends, as founders of a nation and as rulers. Let's forget the failures of the past my friend but remember your mistakes and never make them again. The time of failures is over, the time to become victors has come. For that reason do I hereby forefill the first part of our mission, I hereby proclaim the Independent Realm of the River Delta Region! A new nation has been created, now we have to conquer it! Let us all be faithful soldiers to this cause!"

After these words rose Bojas the Eunuch his hand banners appeared from all windows of the villa Hikarros. All banners showed a sandy bacground, cut in two by a thick blue Line. Although mosty mercenaries started the soldiers to shout and cheer in happiness after Tancred's words as they gave them new courage and gave them prospects of victory, power and wealth.

After some time, when the cheering had faded again started Tancred to continue his speech:"But before the wealth, glory and honour of victory will reach you will we hve to fight, together. Karvelosh and Zarmeloch must be taken. For that reason do I ask you to prepare yourself, positions North, West and South of the city mus be taken and I want ou to seize all ships civilian and military that you can put your hands on within this Delta Region. We'll need them to take Karvelosh. Now return to your accommodations, your commanders will give your nstructions of what will be your personal tasks. And remember above all: the past is gone, turn to the future!" After these words left Tancred the balcony and the men started cheering again.

In the hours after the speech were Tancred's Orders followed by all with renewed zeal. Soon was everything getting ready for an attack on Karvelosh.

Rising Tensions, Part 2of 2

Postby Taelete » Wed Jul 29, 2015 2:38 pm

Galenos Kallerzanis, Karvelosh, River Delta Region

The news of the great victory over Tancred's Pefkiot vanguard pleased Galenos immeasurable. When the Evzones and Aristeides' remaining men walked trough Karvelosh again were they welcomed by cheering masses, who were still fearing Tancred's army would sack their city, and by the Taeletean army within the city. While these returning forces made their way to the Colonial Palace was Galenos confronted by a difficult dilemma. This because the commander of the Evzones, the nobleman Aristocles Seltarreos, had disobeyed Galenos' command by attacking the Pefkiots with his Evzones and if Galenos wanted to maintain his authority would he need to punish Aristocles for that, even though Aristocles had saved Aristeides and he had outmanoevred several Pefkiot units, which made him a possible heroe and military mascot for the colonial rule. As soon as the cheering reached the palace walked, Galenos, followed by his high command staff and the city's magistrates to the square in full uniform. All his soldiers on the square immidiately prsented arms. Around a hundred metres from Galenos' approaching group stopped the Evzones and only Aristeides and Aristocles walked futher forwards until they reached Galenos. After a short moment of silence stepped Galenos forwards and embraced Aristeides and said:""Welcome back, my friend, I'm glad to see you in good health." Aristeides replied these warm welcome and Galenos then turned to Aristocles. After another moment of silence said Galenos with loud voice:"People of Karvelosh, in front of you and me stands this man, Aristocles Seltarreos, lieutenant colonel of our Evzones Battalion and member of the prominent Seltarreos House. He is also a man who disobeyed the commands of me and his superiors. By disobeying these orders, however, has he saved Aristeides Scylvardos, my ἔξαρχος and a man that is known for his military qualities and political importance. Aristocles also defeated several battalions of Pefkiots. It is for that reason that I will let you decide over his fate, like you, my subjects, will decide over the fate of any disobeying general, that did archieve succes by disobeying, in the future."

After these words went Galenos silent and spread his arms to indicate he was wating for an answer. Man could see the tension on the faces of the Evzones, Aristeides and Aristocles himself that all feared for Aristocles' life. The first reaction to Galenos' unusual request came from one of the Evzones who shouted:"Let him live!" and this soldier was soon joined by hundreds, even thousands of other voices who all said the same:"Let him live!"

Galenos shwed a slight reply as he rose his arms for silence. Galenos then said to Aristocles:"It seems you have not only the favour of me and God but also the army and the people, lieutenant colonel. It is for that reason that I forgive you the disobeying of my orders and as Tancred Filaurangius has left the Taeletean service do I hereby name you my new κονόσταυλος. In return for my mercy do I ask loyalty and obedience of you."

After these words kneeled Aristocles down before Galenos and swore his loyalty. After that started the people and troops again to cheer and under this cheering walked Galenos and his high command, now including Aristocles and Aristeides, inside the colonial palace for a meeting as an agent had approached, informing Galenos that new events had occured.

The Commanders gathered in the same room as usual but the high command looked better now with officers walking in and out and with two more seats on the table filled. It was a serie of news, at first came the news of the Nihonese victory at the Toyone Rice Fields. A great victory it was Gregorios Aballas killed, a big part of the Demetrian elite in Vishpanyar dead and almost no losses on Nihonese side. The news of the victory of Toyone was followed by the Nihonese (re)conquest of Friyaka and at this point started some Taeletean commanders to worry about the Nihonese power in the River Delta Region. This worry became more serious with news about the ultimatum of the Greater Empire Dai Nihon that placed even the news of Tancred's new nation in the shadow.

The ultimatum was not making very high demands but was made unaceptable for many by the symbolic meaning as accepting it would make the Taeletean League look weaker than the Nihonese Empire and it would open the way for futural ultimata from the Nihonese. This was for most Taeleteans, arrogant, proud and patriottic as they are not of light weight. It would, however, be uneasy to disarm the Nihonese requests and arguments and many reconsidered rejecting the ultimatum when remembering the growing Nihonese power in the world and especially the regions around Vishpanyar.

For Galenos personally was the answer easy, he would decline it as it was affecting his direct authority and he needed his authority now more than ever before. And with a delination from all leaders of the league logically in mind were Galenos and his councillors already thinking of how to handle the futural conflict or even the futural war against both the Nihonese Empire, the Nihonese self-defence militias and Tancred's army.
For that reason had the available troops to be well-coordinated. Galenos' initial idea to draw reinforcements from Zakrioleion would not longer work with the Nihonese threat as all Zakrioleioni troops would have to be used against a possible Nihonese attack also because Zakrioleion was still the city around which all Teletean power in Vishpanyar was centered.

After a long meeting decided Galenos and his commanders to call in help from a party not yet involved, the Nadī rājā Vishpan LVIII, the ruler of the only Vishpan of real importance and a man that proclaimed he could raise a million men to arms. Soon was a message sent to this man and a few hours later was Vishpanyar mobilizing. Galenos had commanded the Nadī rājā to come to the River Delta himself with half his forces while sending the other half to the Eastern mountain chain. The orders for the Nadī rājā and his troops were simpel, they had to take Zarmeloch that was still in the hands of all kinds of anarchists and when Zarmeloch was taken would they have to attack Tancred's army at Karvelosh.

This meant that the next task for Galenos and his high command was to hold Karvelosh until the arrival of the Vishpans for that they united all troops in the city to one corps, the Karvelosh Corps:

Karvelosh Corps

1st Battalion: Elite Infantry: Trazentine Legionaries, 500 men.
2nd Battalion: Elite Infantry: Colonial Honor Guard, 500 men
3rd Battalion: Regular Infantry: Church soldiers, 500 men
4th Battalion: Alternative Infantry: Armed Policemen, 200 men + Corporation wardens, 200 men.
5th Battalion: Light Infantry: City Guards, 500 men
6th Battalion: Light Infantry: Vishpan Militiamen, 500 men
7th Battalion: Alternative Infantry: Civil Militiamen, 500 men
8th Battalion: Regular Infantry: Taeletean Colonial Guards, 500 men
9th Battalion: Regular Infantry: Local Greek Colonial Guards, 500 men
10th Battalion: Elite Infantry: National Evzones, 300 men
1st Squadron: Light Cavalry: Noble Household Guards, 400 men
2nd Squadron: Light Cavalry: Mounted Local Greek Colonial Guards, 200 men
3rd Squadron: Mechanized Cavalry: Local Leopard 2A6 HEL Tank Troops, 500 men
4th Squadron: Mechanized Cavalry: Colonial Leopard 2A6 HEL Tank Troops, 500 men
1st Battery: Artillery: Taeletean and Local Greek Military Engineers, 300 + Zolkrovin household engineers, 200 men
5 frigates and their crews
The Artillery pieces are mostly Katyusha rocket launchers and M777 Howitzers.

After the corps was properly formed were the troops spread over the Karvelosh Island and the (few) existing fortifications were manned again. Furthermore were new fortifications and defensive lines created all over the island and the troops were spread over it:

Brown= Galenos' lines of defence
Light Red= Galenos' Artillery Positions

And while Karvelosh was prepared for Tancred's attack sent Galenos a message to Bion Valaxes, telling him to prepare a force in order to eliminate the Nihonese self-defence militias as soon as permission from the leaders of the Taeletean League would come. Galenos also sent Aristocles Seltarreos to Taeletos City to represent Galenos between the leaders of the League.

Taeletos City, Taelete

The ultimatum of the Empire of Nihon was a pressing matter, man could see that in the Golden Hall of Taeletos as all aristocrates and leaders/regents of the League were present: King Philokrates V Eudalros of Scandieron, Knjaz* Kroshar XXVII Talredos of Kroshargrad, Knjaz Sergei III Vahlax of Dolgorod, Prince Lucius II Almarallen of the Nievarc, Despote Amyntas VIII Trefellos of Iarfallos, Knjaz Arseniy VI Zolkrovin of Zolsvegorod and Regent Lord Alkibiades Dakrelios of the Trazentine Empire. All of them were monarchs as the only theocrate of the league, Nektarios VII of Krionarlassion, wasn't present due to health matters.

With all these high leaders was it for both Aristocles and the Taeletean aristocrates quite useless to be part of the meeting as a single leader/regent would have enough influence to ignore any of their opposition. Still, the leaders allowed some aristocrates to speak first.
The first to speak was the respected nobleman Agathos Antidoros:"The League has passed its prime, the League's members fight eachother, unrest reigns the lower classes and our armies are no longer feared around the globe. But we have not yet fallen that deep we should accept an ultimatum from those unworthy Asians. They ask not much, I'll give them that, but what they ask are things that are exactly the opposite of the things our ἐπιστράτηγος openly demanded, this means that accepting the ultimatum would look us like men fearful for the Nihonese torment and we would throw away the glory and honour gained by our ancestors for this league by accepting this ultimatum! It is for that reason that I hereby decline the ultimatum and I call every man with honour to do the same."

Applause and nodding followed when Agathos finished. When Agathos sat down and silence had returned rose another Aristocrate to speak, the rich and well-known Tytos Iassoros, he spoke for accepting the ultimatum:"I agree with the most honoured Agathos that our League has waned over time but it is exactly for that reason we mustn't go to war. If we want to become feared and commony known again shouldn't we fight a war with a militaristic and rising power like Nihon because of one symbolic loss. We can have that loss and it will spare us a war that will mean a ctastrophe for the economy and that will prove fatal for the flower of our nation's population. We must gain strength now so we can stand strong against any ultimatum in the future."

Besides applause followed also some shouting this speech, shouting like 'Coward(s)' and 'Damned merchants'. As soon as silence had returned and another aristocrate stood up to speak came a voice from the other side of the hall, where the leaders of the league's nation sat:"Can I speak now, please?" The man speaking was Alkibiades Dakrelios, Regent of Trazentiocheia, one of the if not the most prominent nation in the League. Besides the power of his nation was Alkibiades also feared and respected himself as the man that never lost a war and the man that rose 10.000 troops only by his personality. This made his question a retoric one, of course he could speak. The aristocrate that had risen to speak sat down again and Alkibiades rose and stepped forward before he started to speak:

"At first do I want to say that I disagree with both men here about the waning of the League, even if it would be waning, proclaiming it is just stupid. Instead of saying that the League has waned we can also better say: Taelete has waned over time, stuffed with wealth and quarreling old men but the League hasn't as the League isn't Taelete." Angry murmering rose at the benches of the aristocrates but as soon as Alkibiades looked at them returned silence immidiately and Alkibiades continued:"I am, and I don't care how many disagree, a man of honour and for that won't I nor Trazentiocheia accept this ultimatum. We are still strong and we command a powerful army that isn't cowering for some Asians. The Nihonese Empire is strong, maybe in battle even stronger than us, and even if we win will it be at high costs. But Trazentiocheia won't agree with an ultimatum that, even only symbolic, will diminish the respect of our nation so much, we won't accept it without a battle or two given in reply before. And do not forget that a member of the Trazentine Imperial family is out there, even ruling Vishpanyar. This ultimatum is also turned against him and his personal authority and for that reason can't Trazentiocheia do anything else than declining the ultimatum. And to put power behind these words do I hereby dispatch the second Trazentine Legion 'Croesos' to Zakrioleion Island and I call all of you to send troops with them, as long as you represent real, honourable and strong nations, of course."

These words, their meaning and Alkibiades' personality brought an outburst in the council. Nation after nation from the League promised to send troops and even Taelete itself, still could man see the hidden glances full of hate towards Alkibiades from the Taeletean aristocrates. When the council was disbanded were, besides Alkibiades legion(60.000 men), 70.000 troops promised to Galenos for the protection of Vishpanyar should Nihon put power behind its ultimatum.

Another result of the Meeting was a carte blanche for Galenos Kallerzanis to handle all diplomatic matters with Nihon in the name of the entire League. This gave Galenos the responsibility of replying the Nihonese ultimatum and of preparing Vishpanyar for the effects of that reply. What Galenos would do, however, wasn't his own choice as the full Taeletean political system looked over his shoulders and Galenos would be bound to strict instructions.

*= Grand Prince, Grand Duke, Duke, Prince, shortly said, this means a lot.

Bion Valaxes, Zakrioleion, Vishpanyar

Bion Valaxes walked proud trough the port of Zakrioleion where the Vishpanyar fleet started preparing itself for war. The military part of the port was busier than ever due to the preparations for a now almost certain military conflict. Only a few hours ago had news reached him about the Nihonese ultimatum, directly followed by a message from Galenos that had told him not to intervene against the rebellious Tancred, as was ordered before, but to prepare for apossible war for Nihon.

This, of course, were preparations of an other kind. Tancred could be dealt with easily if the colonial rule had had hands free but Nihon was a rising superpower, mostly naval, the point were Taelete was normally strongest and Bion realised, as one of the few Taeleteans, that Nihon was quite able of crushing the whole Taeletean rule over Vishpanyar and besides that were the Nihonese self-defence militias a problem behind the lines. Bion turned because of this to the so-called 'Garallos plans', a few rough plans designed in the past for the occasion of a war between Nihon and the League in Vishpanyar. The plans also included a blueprint for an operation against the Nihonese self-defence militias and Bion had been ordered by Galenos to eliminate those as fast as possible.

To execute the 'Garallos Plans' started Bion 'Operation Chosei', an operation that would include both air and ground attacks. At first would airsrikes hit Friyaka, Chosei and all other Nihonese villages and towns that were still under arms. Airstrikes would also been done against any other known place of miltia activity. Then would a special force of 2000 commandos arrive that would clear up the last remnants of resistance. The commandos would also kill all surviving leaders of the militias.

The commandos would be armed with AK-12 assault rifles, Glock 17 pistols and E44-E 81 mm Mortars while being assisted by ten Boeing AH-64 Apache helicopters.
The air attack force would stand out of 17 Panavia Tornado planes and 16 F-16 Fighting Falcon fighters.

Bion was currently on his way to his flagship, the 'HS Kreios', where he would give the official order to start the operation. When he arrived at the large aircraft carrier was he welcomed by a big part of his staff. As soon as he reached his command room did Bion ask:"Is everything in position?" "Yes, sir." came the reply and several buttons were pressed by crewmembers while staff officers started applauding. Bion shook his head while once again realising the how silly such official launches of operations were. It showed once agin the conservative attitude of the Taeletean League.

What Bion didn't realize, however, was the Arceri presence with the militias. A mistake of which the consquences will be revealed in time.

With a sigh sat Bion down behind his desk as he put himself upon the task of organizing the preparation of the defence of Vishpanyar and the mobilizing of the Taeletean, Vishpan, local Greek and militia forces since he was acting commander-in-chief of Vishpanyar now Galenos was stuck in Karvelosh.

And while Bion and other Taeletean commanders all over Vishpanyar and the League prepared for war issued Galenos the League's answer to the Nihonese ultimatum:

OFFICIAL MESSAGE OF THE TAELETEAN LEAGUE

ATTN: The Empire of Greater Nihon.
ENCRYPTION: PUBLIC

Most Esteemed government of The Empire of Greater Nihon, Greetings!

Most honoured Shogun, your ultimatum has shocked both me and the Taeletean League for which I am currently speaking.

The conflict between the Mendicant Order of St Demetrios and the self-defence militias of your brothers in Vishpanyar was one between militias officially recognized by our government. Both militias were highly respected and honoured within the Taeletean Leagueand Vishpanyar. It is for that reason that we hesitated to intervene by other means than calming words. When the conflict between both militias reached a climax of bloodshed at Toyone, however, a point at which both sides were more cruel and disrespectful than could have ever been expected of such honourable organizations, decided our government to intervene with our official legal power. The demand of dropping down arms was issued o both sides without favour and could have ended the bloodshed for once and for all.

In answer to our legally allowed call for reconciliation and peace did we receive only a hostile declination from your brothers and this forced the already disarming Demetrians to take up arms again. In this way have your brothers, that we highly respect, brought us in a very precarious position as we used a threat of hunting down those who wouldn't answer our declaration and your brothers did exactly that.

It is for these reasons that our governmen favours the the Mendicant Order of St Demetrios more than your brothers' self-defence militias and your ultimatum has only pulled us more to the side of the Demetrians as you are currently interfering with our internal policy concerning decendants of Nihonese immigrants we allowed in Vishpanyar and self-defence militias we allowed as one of the few within the League. Furthermore do you put demands that go straightly against our government that in this case only acted for the stability and well-being of its people. This is for our government unaccetable and because of that will we decline your ultimatum. We also advise your government to stay out of cases that do not officially concern your nation.

Concerning our current gathering of troops in Vishpanyar do I promise you that those will only be used to act in internal matters like rebellion or rejection of Government demands. They will, however, also stand ready against any other threat to Vishpanyar and the Taeletean League.

Our Enemies do not last, our friends do.

Signed with good hopes for the future,

Galenos Kallerzanis, ἐπιστράτηγος of Vishpanyar, φρουρός of Zakrioleion, ἡγεμών of the Trazentines and representor of the Taeletean League.
