coolness factor aside, it also hides the IR of those engines well

We've been over the intakes on the top, It's not a good idea for any fighter that wants to have much in the way of angle of attack. Besides, the YF-23-esque exhausts you were already using will make it very difficult to spot the IR emissions from the ground.
But why do you need a single exhaust?

This is what a cranked delta looks like done right. Just raptorize an XF-108 if you want a workable stelf fighter with lots of gottagofast on the side.

Tilt rotor or tilt engine, yes.

Neither gives you more durability.

You want something faster than a helicopter, more survivable, that has similarly good hover performance and control and doesn't have hideous instadeath areas of its flight envelope? Then you need a compound gyrodyne, preferably of the rotodyne genus.

Doable but fairly worthless. Tilt rotors gigantic podded engines will make then extremely vulnerable to battle damage, and if they are damaged below flight speed they will crash catastrophically.
