Ok 2 questions. First off is this a generic zombie apocalypse rp or is there a plot to it? And secondly, is it one brand of zombie or multiple? like is it just the mushroom heads from last of us or are they coupled with walking dead and zombie land zombies? Or... whats the deal there?

1.) It's both, really. The plot is playing out a bit more organically. The folks in Chicago are currently dealing with the army trying to murderize them for various reasons. Otherwise, the main plot is whatever emerges from OP, Co-Op, or the players themselves.

2.) Now, I may not be the perfect person to answer this, but my thought was that the zombies were a cross between walking zombies and the infected from 28 Days later. It's probably better to ask the OP, but that's what I've been running with.

1) I have a plot idea in mind but am waiting for an oppurtune time to get into it, the time being mainly for the group to survive and, hopefully, get together so that a main plot can be handled without everyone being killed off.

2) The infected are akin to 28 Weeks Later. Those in good condition can most likely outrun you but they do suffer from exposure/injuries and so typically slow down with age. Mutations have created a few special cases that are more dangerous.
