The Tarrentian IBRRT is here! The two Round Robin Pools are as follows with world rankings in parantheses:

Pool Groups have been updated to reflect the depature of Newmanistan from the international sporting scene

Imperium Pool

Schedules will be posted shortly and the tournament is set to begin on Monday, June 21st. Please post your Rosters here for all participating nations.

For the newcomers please look at examples of rosters from the last World Baseball Classic for an idea of what to do: Sarzonia, Tarrentum, Virabia and Quintessence of Dust. As you can see, you can go as basic or as in-depth as you want.

Also please include the following in your Roster Posts:
Code: Select all
Choose my runscorers: Y / N
Choose my lineup: Y / N
Follow my Pitching Rotation: Y / N
Godmod scoring events: Y / N
RP injuries to my players: Y / N
Godmod injuries to my players:  Y / N
Eject my players: Y / N
Godmod other events: Y / N

You may also want to state whether your team utilizes the Designated Hitter (DH) position or not. Home team determines if the DH is used. (So if Team A is home and Team B is away and Team A uses the DH but Team B does not, Team B must use a DH)

Tarrentum Falcons

The Tarrentum Sports Committee, alongside the Allied States Major League and ASML Players Corporation, announce there roster, starting lineups and pertinent information for the Tarrentian International Baseball Round Robin Tournament. All of the players will be looking to the Falcons to have great success as they host their first international tournament.

There has also been some shakeup with the Coaching Staff and Vincent Saloni and Galahad Asanti are in Newmanistan with the U-21 and U-16 National Teams.

*Position: First and Last Name, Age, B/T (Uni #)
Coaches
Manager: Tiberius Wavi, 47 (56) – Wavi has successfully managed the Napoliroma Legion to the Allied States Championships two out of the past three years. His team is constantly in the pennant race.
Bench Coach: Ruboni Kilia, 50 (10) – Kilia has been in the First Base Coaches Box for 20 years holding the position with a variety of ASML and ASMiL (Allied States Minor League) teams. He has coached for Napoliroma for the past five years. This is his first stint as Bench Coach and replaces, for this tournament, Vincent Saloni in the dugout. Kilia also serves as the outfield instructor for the Legion.
First Base Coach: Zax Brotti, 41 (81) - Brotti hails from the far western city of Yui (hence the interesting 'X') and has helped the Yui Grizzlies organization at the minor league level as the coach of their AAA affliate the Gallen Yellow Finches.
Third Base Coach: Carlo Revo, 39 (89) – Revo is the Third Base and Hitting Coach for the AAA-affiliate of the Lower Marentian Rams, the Fremont Wolves. Revo has been with the Wolves for two years since retiring as a player and has steadily risen through the ranks.

*Position: First and Last Name, Age, B/T (Uni #)
Pitchers
SP 1: Brodi Jacobo, 27, L/L (34) – Jacobo has anchored the pitching staff for the Napoliroma Legion to two AS Championships. He has a devastating knucklecurve and one of the most commanding changeup pitches in the majors. He has carried a sub-3.50 ERA since his emergence in the majors four years ago.
SP 2: Gaele DeRosi, 32, R/R (21) – DeRosi has been firing his fastball past batters for the Krozuy Falcons for 7 years and currently is the highest paid player in the ASML. He has lost a little bit of control on his pitches since turning 30 but is still able to strikeout most batters. He has over 115 Ks the past three years.
SP 3: Julianna Italiana, 24, S/R (18) – The beloved niece of Supreme President Cesare Italiana. Julianna broke the gender barrier in ASML only four years ago not through political force but through shear skill and determination. She easily handles batters with her skill with curveballs, changeups and sliders. Italiana plays for the ASML expansion team based in Silver Beach, the York Rangers.
SP 4: Fironte Sareb, 18, R/L (77) – Sareb was the number 1 prospect for the ASML and was drafted last year by the Lower Marentian Rams. He sets a quick pace on the mound with his cut fastball and fastball pitches. Sareb is returning to Tarrentum to take part in this tournament no matter where the U-21 team is in the Keisler Cup.
SP 5: Romeo Vasparian, 22, R/R (74) – Vasparian was recently called up to the majors to play for the Garatia Warhounds and helped the Hounds make their first playoffs in twenty years. Last year he had a 10-8 record with a 2.92 ERA.
Long Reliever: Pollani Dazzera, 27, R/R (3) – Dazzera has pitched in relief for the Legion for five years and has frustrated hitters with his cut fastball.
Mid Reliever: Johnny Burtoni, 34, R/L (24) – Burtoni is a starter for the new ASML franchise, Confrenden Wildcats. While in the now defunct Tarrenecia League, Burtoni held a 16-4 record with a 2.18 ERA and 220 strikeouts.
Mid Reliever: Liona Marrada, 25, L/L (16) – Marrada worked her way through the minor leagues alongside Julianna Italiana and became a fierce pitcher in her own right. Marrada has pitched for the Krozuy Falcons this past year and ended the season with a 2.01 ERA.
Mid Reliever: Alberto Trevino, 33, S/R (9) – Trevino was a pitcher with the recently purchased Tarrenecia franchise in Upper Calibri. The franchise, now located in Stroudsville, Tarburr and known as the Scruffy Platypuses, has Trevino as their centerpiece on the pitching rotation. He has agreed to a limited role in this tournament and in the next World Baseball Classic.
Setup: Ederi Sallamo, 30, R/R (40) – Sallamo has been the setup man for Napoliroma during their two AS Championships. He put up a .99 ERA last year.
Closer: Francisco Azzri, 38, R/R (99) – Azzri has led the league in Saves the past four years and plays for the Bolonza Industrialists (after a mid-season trade).

*First and Last Name, Age, B/T (Uni #)
Catchers
Valerio Utteroni, 32, S/R (52) – Utteroni has been behind the plate for the Napoliroma Legion for five years. He has a career batting average of .352 and homered 35 times last year.
Antoni Favella, 24, L/L (87) – Favella recently became an ASML star for picking off 50 consecutive stealing attempts against him. He has been a boon to the Garatia Warhounds since being promoted to the majors two years ago. His career batting average is .298.

*First and Last Name, Age, B/T (Uni #)
Infielders
Nicolai Rioi, 30, R/R (23) – Rioi plays first base for the Lower Maentain Rams and is an expert at the plate normally bringing pitchers to a full count when he is at bat. He has the most career walks of active players and analysts expect him to end his career with the ASML record for walks. Career BA .252
Colossi Trempani, 28, R/R (14) – Trempani plays third base for the Napoliroma Legion and is a great fielder winning the Platnium Glove award for three consecutive years as the ASML’s leading fielder. He has a career fielding percentage of .979 and a career batting average of .350
Trego Saronna, 33, L/L (66) – Saronna spent four years of his prime serving in the Tarrentum Armed Forces and is widely known as a clean cut, determined player for the Krozuy Falcons at second base. Saronna is a great field tactician but is prone to some errors occasionally. He leads the league in doubles this year. Career BA .278
Ferdini Zappataro, 25, R/R (32) – Zappataro (Zappa) has played shortstop for the Garatia Warhounds the past three years and has been the subject of many highlight reels. He led the majors in triples and stolen bases last year (20 and 85 respectively). Career BA .303
Xavier Gradoni, 29, S/R (20) – Gradoni plays third and first base for the Riori Cannons. He is a strong batter who registered a hit in 40 consecutive games last year. Career BA .340
Dessea Vallena, 22, R/R (15) – Vallena was the first woman to start as a position player in the ASML. Vallena is quick in either middle infield position and was the Husoni Bishops’ only representative at the All-Star game last year, which was also her rookie season. She was involved in an off-season trade and now plays for the expansion Stroudsville Scruffy Platypuses. Career BA .280, Career SB 70

*First and Last Name, Age, B/T (Uni #)
Outfielders
Jax Ianello, 30, R/R (61) – Ianello plays left field for the Napoliroma Legion and has seen his stock rise as a great fielder and hitter during his 6 years in the majors. Career BA .278 (.340 the past two years), Career fielding percentage .968
Rian Fesserallia, 29, R/R (28) – Fesserallia has been a great long ball hitter for the Garatia Warhounds but is prone to hitting droughts at the plate. Career BA .320
Cesare Puloni, 33, R/R (10) – Puloni has played numerous outfield positions during his career, most recently right field for the Krozuy Falcons. Puloni has a knack for unbelievable defensive plays and is a solid .300 hitter for his career.
Norian Ionian, 35, L/L (59) – Ionian is nearing retirement but has still managed to put up impressive numbers at the plate. His 32 homeruns last year put him among the league leaders. His age is showing in his fielding ability however as he has lost about a step or two from his prime. Career BA .304

Choose my runscorers: Yes
Choose my lineup: No, Lineups are posted
Follow my Pitching Rotation: Yes
Godmod scoring events: Yes, within reason
RP injuries to my players: Yes, but only to the extent of saying what player was injured. Severity will be at my discretion
Godmod injuries to my players: No
Eject my players: Yes, one per game – No bench clearing brawls with mass ejections
Godmod other events: No, except for weather.

Other factoids: The Allied States Major League does not have a DH for any team. All games played when Tarrentum is the "home" tell will NOT have a DH in the lineup. If a game is decided by one or two runs either way then my starting pitcher was taken out and a reliever was put in. This means that for a 3-2 Tarrentum victory, either my Setup or Closer got the save.

Newmanistan Bows Out

The Tarrentum National Sports Committee has just received an official memorandum from the nation of Newmanistan stating their intent to withdraw from all international sporting events. While noting the situation as unfortunate, the TNSC and the Tarrentum National Baseball Committee have agreed to let Nemanistan cede from the Tarrentian IBRRT.

With this opening there have been some scheduling changes and one spot has been vacated. Therefore the TNSC has reopened entry into the tournament to the first nation to contact them. They have also declared that so-called "puppet" nations may be allowed to enter.

During Newmanistan's time away from the international athletic community we sincerely wish for everything to be resolved and for the nation to make a quick come back to the world sports stage.

Thank you.

[OOC: If no nation is added by the first scorination (Monday 8pm EST) then I will have to add my puppet Meddicia in order to balance everything out. If I don't, then the Valley Pool participants will play one less game each...which is totally unfair.]

The Tarrentum National Baseball Committee has accepted The Fanboyists expression of interest to join the Tarrentian IBRRT.

All teams have been sent new Pool Groupings and new Schedules.

Team Rosters for over half of the participating teams have not arrived at TNBC headquarters in Napoliroma, Tarrentum and the TNBC implores all nations to provide one.

Tarburr Platypusses

Confederacy of Tarburr Platypusses Baseball Lineup

All players and coaches are pulled from the top two leagues in Tarburr, the TBL (Tarburr Baseball League) and the NBLT (National Baseball League of Tarburr).

Position: First and Last Name, Age, Trows/Bats, Uniform Number

Coaches:

Manager: Horatio 'Pops' Pollard, 68, #99 - 'Pops' Pollard has been manager for many teams in the course of his 35 year coaching career. He has guided his team, the Stroudsville Scruffy Playpusses, to consecutive TBL championships after placing them in the playoffs for a Tarburr record 12 years in a row.

Bench Coach: Oliver Banks, 39, #98 - Banks has seen a meteoric rise to elite status in the NBLT, where in his first year as manager of the Blankson Bobcats he led the team to the National Series. Since then he has kept his team in the pennant race despite its small market resources.

First Base Coach: Ban Gregovic, 45, #62 - Gregovic first arrived in Tarburr as an infant, son of an immigrant. A former all-star in the NBLT, he has been a hitting coach for several teams in the NBLT, and recently moved to the baseline with great success for his team.

Third Base Coach: Altair Morgan, 59, #78 - Morgan started his coaching career after an unsucessful attempt at playing as a pro. He coached Stragburn College two three national titles before moving up to the TBL as a first base coach. For the past 10 years he has worked 3rd base for the Grange Bluemen, a perrinnial power in the TBL.

Pitchers

SP1: Andrian Dosset, 28, R/R, #13 - Dosset is an old school power pitcher with recorded fastballs flirting with the 100mph mark, even reaching the number on occassion. He has won two Pitcher of the Year awards for the Larrisburg Boilers in the TBL. His career ERA has dropped to a 2.50 since he added a solid curveball and slider to his lineup.

SP2: Matt Hoch, 33, L/L, #32 - Hoch has been a sensational pitcher since his first days playing with the Bluemen. Though his fastball has lost speed, his control remains excellent, and his array of pitches is second to none. The devastating changeup that brought him fame and fortune is still there and as strong as ever.

SP3: Dave Betrard, 24, L/R #23 - Betrard is the current craze in the TBL, and for good reason. The Stroudsville player has been on fire for his first two years in the league posting a 2.84 era, and leading the division in strikeouts. He has a solid fastball, but his real damage comes from his slurve and knuckleball. Sometimes has control issues which can lead to a lot of walks.

SP4: Harmon Rand, 26, R/R, #44 - Harmon was touted as the greatest prospect in Tarburr history when he was drafted at 18 by the Dremmon Calvary. The TBL proved more challenging for him than expected, and he spent most of his time moving up and down from the minors. He focused and began to train with several coaches, and for the past 3 years has begun to live up to his potential. Last season he posted a 2.82 ERA and led the NBLT in strikeouts, mainly from his array of off-speed pitches.

SP5: Trent Filmore, 35, R/R, #55 - Filmore began his career as a relief pitcher but moved to a starting role with the Vayburro Mustangs. For the past 10 years he has finished in the top 5 in ERA, strikeouts and shutouts. His fastball still does most of the work thanks to his superb control, and his curveball throws batters out of rhythm.

Long Relief: Castro Covier, 29, L/R, #37 - Covier was struggling as a starting pitcher when he came into the league, and his coach switched him to relief. It was there that he found his calling, posting a 35-13 record over the last 3 years. His ERA dropped from a 5.67 to a 3.12.

Mid Relief: Preston Gromley, 30, R/R, #31 - A longtime journeyman pitcher, Gromley made an impact last season for the surprising Dremmon Calvary. Many credit the presence of Gromley as the piece that put the Calvary in contention, and gave the team a chance to win when Rand was not starting. He has posted 10+ saves in the past 4 seasons.

Mid Relief: Jerome Vines, 27, L/L, #69 - As talented as he is egotistic, Jerome has been one of the best relief pitchers in the NBLT for the past three years. He has led the league in saves for 2 years of the last three seasons.

Mid Relief: Aaron Ayers, 32, L/R, #42 - A little known player, Ayers quietly managed to lead the TBL in saves last season. A look at his career stats proves that he is an elite pitcher, but playing for sub-par teams has hurt him.

Closer: Addel Drake, 28, R/R, #92 - Drake has been a star pitcher for the Stroudsville squad for the past 4 seasons. His devastating split-finger fastball has been his best weapon, frustrating hitters with it's movement and speed.

Catchers

Starter: Bradley Bohm, 30, R/R, #37 - Bohm has been awarded the Basker Trophy for best defensive catcher five consecutive seasons, and has a penchant for picking off runners stealing second. His batting average is .250 for his career.

Backup/DH: Hal Nester, 27, R/R, #20 - A two time all-star in the TBL, Nester finished last season batting .301 with 25 HRs and led the league in doubles.

Infielders

1B: Ricky Danner, 26, R/R, #43 - A rarity among professional players, Danner is a right-handed 1st Baseman. He is two time reigning Offensive player of the year in the TBL, batting .319 with 59 HRs and 135 RBIs. He is a fan favorite in Stroudsville.

2B: Wilson Mauer, 23, R/R, #1 - Mauer is the youngest player on the team, but has earned his spot. A very athletic player, he sometimes has mental lapses due to his age, but can also make unbelieveable plays. He batted .274 last season, and led the NBTL in stolen bases with 69.

SS: Trey Roberts, 30, L/L, #3 - Roberts is a three time Defensive Player of the Year winner for the TBL's Youngerton Badgers. Posting a .295 career batting average, Roberts is known for his keen eye in the batter's box which have made him a great leadoff batter.

3B: Faman Broussa, 33, R/R, #29 - Broussa, an ethnic Dirkastani, is one of the most consistent batters in the history of the NBLT with a lifetime .342 average. He rarely hits the longball, but is 45 base hits shy of the all-time NBLT record.

Utility: Tommy O'Donnel, 28, L/L, #40 - O'Donnel has played both 1st and 3rd base for the Bomar Baggers in the NBLT. A solid defensive player, he hit .301 last season with 29 HRs and 102 RBIs.

UT: Gerald Brake, 34, R/R, #19 - Brake is in his last season as a player, but still has the talent and versitility to be a valued memeber of the team. Though a step slower than years past, the TBL player is known as an outstanding fielder, and has a respectable .298 average.

Outfielders:

CF: Kenny Farris, 31, L/L, #16 - Farris is considered to be one of the best all-around players in the TBL. His batting efforts (.302 average, 35 HRs) and outstanding fielding percentage earned him MVP honors for the past 3 seasons.

LF: Dale Vay, 28, R/R, #9 - Vay has been a force for the Bluemen ever since they acquired him in a trade last year. He has an extremely strong arm, and has the speed to cover distance fast. He had 53 stolen bases last season.

RF: Tim Leguire, 33, L/L, #46 - Leguire was a late entrant into the TBL, starting as a rookie at age 29. Posting a .333 batting average last season, he anchored the lineup for the Dremmon Calvary who surprised the league with their post-season run. He has a strong arm, but is sometimes apt to inaccuracy.

UT: Timmy Pearson, 24, R/S, #11 - Pearson is a young player full of athleticism and potential, but prone to mistakes. When playing his best he is a fearsome batter (.320 average last season in the NBTL), and makes amazing catches. However, he is prone to chasing bad pitches and trying to do too much on defense.

CHURCHMA BASEBALL

Churchma squad loses tournament opener against Silver Beach
Churchma Sports Inc.

The Churchma/Silver Beach matchup marked the first game played in Ventilli Ballpark in this tournament. The game brought in 36,809 faithful fans, and unfortunately, the Churchma fans had to go back home with their heads hanging after a 9-6 defeat.

Silver Beach came out swinging early, and brought in two runs in the top of the first inning. Starting pitcher Colby Colgate had trouble getting batters out in the beginning of the game. Colgate allowed Silver Beach's first seven batters to get to the plate in the first inning. Had there not been an inning-ending double play, the first inning could have been even uglier for Colgate and his crew.

Silver Beach jumped ahead in the first six innings of the game, and gained a 7-2 lead. A huge bottom of the sixth inning lifted Churchma within one run of the tie. Lefty, first basemen Byron Uda blasted a 407 foot, three-run homerun over the right field wall that brought every Churchma fan to their feet. "I'm happy to get that first homerun out of the way," Uda said, "trust me there will be plenty more to come."

Churchma didn't score again, while Silver Beach put in two more runs in the top of the eigth. "Although we came out with the loss today, I'm pleased with how we played in our first international game. Silver Beach is one of the top 30 teams in the world, and we hung in there close with them. We'll come ready to play tomorrow against Auremena," center fielder Jim Karney said.

Mantwenic Loses Opener to Unranked Team!

Mantwenic opened this Tarrentian IBRRT tournament with a pool ranking of nineteen. Unfortunately Mantwenic lost their opener to Pretty Awesome Persons squad. Bill Lyons gave up a two run shot in the top of the first to let PAP get ahead. He then threw four scoreless innings, although Mantwenic never struck back.
Then it happened again in the sixth inning, with a man on second and a man on third. Lyons delivered the pitch to find it going to the warning track, right over Left Fielder Kevin Lang's head! The ball bounced off the wall but by the time Lang threw it home PAP had already scored two runs with a man on third! The coach came to the mound and pointed to the bullpen where reliever Jack Faulkner was coming out. He pitched 3 three scoreless innings, but Mantwenic lost to the score of 4-0.

Tarrentum Falcons Sporting News

Ventili, Meddicia - The Falcons lost a surprising game against their unranked opponents to the east, Tarburr. While they had their ace on the mound, Brodi Jacobo looked anything but. After giving up back-to-back homeruns, Jacobo then gave up two doubles to Kenny Farris and Dale Vay for the third run of the first. The second fared no worse for the Falcons as Jacobo once again gave up a home run, this time to Catcher Bradley Bohm. The Falcons could never recover from Jacobo's lack of control and lack of communication with catcher Valerio Utteroni.

Manager Tiberius Wavi was forced to take out Jacobo in the bottom of the third inning in order to try to get something going. While the Falcons were able to drive in a run early, the Platypuses struck back again with another four run inning in the fifth inning to finally seal the win. "I'm just incredibly disappointed with the way that these ball players went out there and totally screwed the pooch." Wavi said in a press conference after the game.

Speculation has arisen that the Tarrentians were distracted throughout the game. They are playing on unfriendly soil here in Meddicia where a [censored by Tarrentum National Press Committee]. Also, most of these players are currently in the midst of their domestic baseball season and trying to find time to practice together is hard to come by. Most have opted to "practice" in the warm ups before these tournament games. They are helped by the fact that the tournament is not half a world away but with Tarburr and Silver Beach also participating in the same league this theory just cannot hold much water.

"Really, we have to look at this as a way to get better for the next Classic," left fielder Norian Ionian said in the locker room after the loss. "We can't go about thinking that our success in our first WBC last year is any indication that we will get that far again. We have to show our nation, Meddicia and the world that we can play anybody, whereever, whenever, and come away winners. Right now, I don't see that happening." The Tarrentians were not helped by the fact that most of the 32,019 in attendance were cheering for Tarburr. "It's hard to get started when you have so many fans of the other team out there when this is supposed to be part of your country," catcher Antoni Favella said. "I totally understand why the TNBC made us play here in Meddicia but there has to be some other compromise about how to show that we are 'playing fair' and I don't think that means we have to play all of our games here in Ventili."

While the loss was hard most analysts agree that it was a fluke. A way to shake off the cobwebs so to speak. It was a day of upsets in the Valley Pool as not only did the Falcons go down but the Pool's top seed, Yafor 2, with their B-Squad, lost a close one to newcomer Iron Coast and The Fanboyists also lost by one run to newcomer St. Epero.

Wavi is expected to release lineups for the game later this morning with Yafor 2.

Victory in Tarrentum after despicable WBC

In the national team's first game after the WBC, Silver Beach defeated Churchma 9-6. In this match, it was a tremendous start, but the manager was fruious at his bullpen, which allowed four runs after the 7-2 lead.

The first inning was brilliant. The first seven batters reached base, and the bases were loaded with nobody out in the top of the 1st. The #4 and #5 hitters both hit singles to score runs, to make it 2-0. Then, the next two reached base by fielder's choice, as the third baseman twice threw home to ensure no one would score, and kept the game a 2-0. In the bottom of the first though, is where the trouble happened, when the leadoff man hit a home run, and the largely Churchma crowd went crazy with the "wacky towels." They loaded the bases with 1 out, with their #6 hitter up, and he was walked to tie the score at two. Then, their #7 hit into a double play to end the first inning at 2-2.

In the top of the 4th inning, Silver Beach exploded. The #2 hitter lead off the 4th inning, and he hit a double to get on second base. The #3 hitter, the superstar out of Tasmania State University, and playing for the Plymouth Bears, was intentionally walked, to make it 1st and 2nd with nobody out. Then, the #4 hitter hit a ground rule double, to make it 3-2 Silver Beach, men on 2nd and 3rd with nobody out. Then, the #5 hitter hit a towering 436 foot shot to make the score 6-2. The next two hitters reached base via the single, to make it men on first and third with nobody out. The number 8 hitter grounded into a double play, so the man on third scored, and the pitcher was retired, to make the score 7-2, which they took to the 6th inning.

In the 6th, the starter was taken out with the score at 7-3, having pitched 5.2 innings of work with 6 strikeouts, and no one on base. The Middle reliever, Zachary, did terrible. He let the next two guys on with 4 pitch walks, and then serves it up to the Churchma first baseman, who clobbered a fastball 407 feet down the right field line, to make the score 7-6. He let the next three on with walks, then was taken out and Nathaniel came in, who struck out the pinch hitter with three pitches. In the 8th, Silver Beach scored twice more, with the first two batters in the lineup getting singles, and the #3 hitter doubling them in with two outs. This sealed a 9-6 victory for Silver Beach. It was a great game, and they are looking ahead to the Tolietdonia game, though they should not get ahead of themselves.

Boydsrkov shines in international debut

Tarrentum (GP)- In his international debut for the Iron Coast yesterday, all Drzak Boydsrkov did was strike out 20 battters, allow only four hits, and drive in the only run with an RBI single in the 8th. So what it was a B-team? They had the international experience outside of their own region that Boydsrkov and the rest of the national team lacked.Boydsrkov, who already holds the BAIC's all-time carrer, single-game and single-season strikeout records, has now undeniably proved he is the greatest pitchere in our proud nation's history. CHURCHMA BASEBALL

Churchma beats Auremena 6-2, now 1-1 in tournament play
Churchma Sports Inc.

The bottom of the third inning ended and Churchma never had to look back. After the conclusion of the third inning, the Churchma squad was up 3-2. Consistent pitching from starter Darren Brickwell and closer Felix Vidro held Auremena to only two runs through nine innings.

The Churchma faithful had to deal with a much smaller stadium this game (at National Griffins Stadium) but they did all they could to fill it up. With standing room the attendance was 11,097. There were thousands of fans outside the stadium that tailgated late into the night.

"It's great to be playing on the international scene, now the whole world gets to see how great our fans are. Other teams are starting to notice our "wacky towels", I've even seen young Tarrentain children waving them around. This atmoshpere is phenomenal," catcher Alberto Linehan said.

Linehan had a great day for Churchma, batting 3-4 with a double, homerun, and three RBI. The homerun was a two-run shot over deep left-center field that was marked at 398 feet. Leadoff batter Jim Karney also played well going 3-5, with a triple, RBI, and two stolen bases.

Starting pitcher Darren Brickwell got the win after he pitched 7.1 innings, giving up two earned runs, seven strikeouts, and only two walks. Felix Vidro came in to clean up for Brickwell, pitching 1.2 innings and only gave up one hit while striking out two. Churchma's next game is against the undefeated PAP team, once again at National Griffons Stadium.

A Mako's power display gives Hammerheads 2nd win

Postby Iron Coast (Ancient) » Wed Jun 23, 2010 11:36 am

Tarrentum (GP)- Mako Handovic lived up to his rash comment of the day before ("I'll smash the ball s hard they'll have to name it Neil Armstrong!") by smadhing 3 homers, one a 534 foot blast into left of St. Epero pitcher Nathan Hall in the 4th. The only other run was provided by Leo Bradkov's two-out RBI double to secure the 4- 2 win. The Hammerheads sit tied for first in the Valley Poll with Tarburr at 2-0. Story by Horace Kolscik

Tarrentum Falcons Sporting News

Ventili, Meddicia - The Falcons proved once again that you should never count them out. Facing the B-Squad from International Well-Known Yafor 2, the Falcons got a surprise dominating performance from starter Gaele DeRosi. DeRosi has been a decent pitcher in domestic play but any blue and orange blooded Tarrentian knows how DeRosi blew his two starts in WBC 15 and was left out of the rotation in the Play-in and Round of 16 due to his shoddy performance. Yet last night DeRosi kept the Yaforites to 4 hits and 1 run in his 6 2/3 innings of work.

The situation became dicey towards the end of the game as the Yaforite's took the lead when reliever Johnny Burtoni blew the Save situation in the top of the eighth and then Alberto Trevino also gave up a run in the top of the ninth for what looked like a loss. However, the superstar antics of Miss Dessea Vallena shined again when she belted a two-run homerun in the bottom of the ninth to win it for the Falcons. Vallena was mobbed at home plate as she jumped on the bag for the 4th run. Amazingly, the crowd loved the Falcons performance also as they were enthusiastically behind the Falcons during the late innings of play.

The Falcons face the upstart Iron Coast Hammerheads who have recorded two upsets on their way to leading the Valley Pool along with the Platypuses from Tarburr. On the books this game should be all Tarrentum but with the Hammerheads' earlier upset of Yafor 2, some fans have been a little anxious about the game. The Hammerheads like to play close games and get the dramatic run so if the Falcons can jump out early and big, the game should be easily won.

Tarrentum Falcons Sporting News

Ventili, Meddicia - The Falcons won easily over the Hammerheads from Iron Coast yesterday morning with a 4 - 1 win. With a shutout performance by the beautiful Juliana Italiana, who went 7 innings and gave up only 3 hits. Reliever Alberto Trevino gave up the lone run to the Hammerheads in the bottom of the eighth after walking the first batter and giving up two more hits. The win places the Falcons in second place behind the Platypuses from their neighbor Tarburr who surprisingly won their third straight game in this tournament.

Tarrentum was helped offensively by Antoni Favella and Dessea Vallena who each homered (Favella a solo home run and Vallena a 2-run home run). The crowd was certainly behind the Falcons for all of this game as the Meddician fan base was bolstered by a strong showing of Tarrentian fans. The win puts Tarrentum on the right track as they face off against The Fanboyists tonight. With the weekend break coming up the Falcons are playing good ball and I hope that the break will do nothing but help them refine their teamwork and game skills.

Look for young Fironte Sareb to start the game for the Falcons against The Fanboyists as Tiberius Wavi, Falcons manager, also revealed that Trego Saronna will start at first for the failing Nicolai Rioi (2-11 in the tournament so far).
