There is something called war metal, but that's pretty much invented and perfected by Bolt Thrower. Sabaton is pretty much the band for those who don't want to be known as yet another Iron Maiden fanboy/girl, but they also fear the churning darkness of death/black metal and grindcore.

Bolt Thrower is Death Metal

More like a decidedly more melodic development from the concept pioneered by Stockholm death metal stalwarts Unleashed, even though you could also mention Bathory when it comes to the whole Norse/Viking aspect.

Just because you listened to something before it was cool does not give you the right to dictate what genre that band is. Nowhere on the internet does Bolt Thrower show up as War Metal but plenty of Black Metal bands show up.
