NOVA ANGLICANA DEFEATS PRIDNESTROVIA 4-2 IN WORLD CUP QUALIFIERS

NOVA ANGLICANA - The Red Army was soundly defeated by the Nova Anglicana national football team in their home stadium 4-2. Boyan Radev and Peter Schermer scored one goal each to keep Pridnestrovia in the game, but their efforts would be in vain after Emmanuel Moga scored a brace, and Chris Hodges and Philip Castillo had a goal each to their names.

Hodges opened up the scoring with a sublime volley into the right corner of goal in the 26th minute. Emmanuel Moga followed twelve minutes later with a cheeky chip following a long pass from Casey Bowman. Radev scored a free kick in the 45th minute to keep Nova Anglicana within reach of the Red Army.

In the second half, Schermer equalized in the 53rd minute following a corner in which he headed in the ball after Radev's attempt was saved by the Nova Anglicana keeper, but Castillo almost immediately gave his country the lead once again, also courtesy of a header from a corner. Moga got the brace after slotting the ball into the lower left corner in the 80th minute just beyond the reach of Svyatoslav Alkaev.

"Perhaps this loss was to expected," manager Werner Ceausescu said in the post-game press conference. "Nova Anglicana's ranked 35th in the world in football. I don't think we even have a rank when it comes to football. There is simply a big disparity in the level of play of our two nations. Hopefully we can do better against Wolfbenz."

Pridnestrovia's Sheriff Stadium will play host to Wolfbenz in matchday two of the World Cup qualifiers.

Semarland get to bad start
Eura beat Semarland 3-1 in opening qualification game

16th January Last updated: 23:25 SST
by Filip Andersen

Semarland kicked of their World Cup qualification campaign with a loss, losing 3-1 to Eura at the Bastion Arena.

Semarland kicked off, with Jakob Stretner started instead of Jakob Larsen who pulled a calf muscle during training. It was the Sporting Saint Adrensburg's striker's first international start, and he looked to make it a good one.

Unfortunately for Semarland, it was Eura who got off to the better start, with Gareth Blackthorn pounding home on 7 minutes. Some great play between himself and Craig Sinclair gave the defensive midfielder plenty of space to lash it home past Andreas Mikkelsen.

Semarland displayed good counter attacking play, with the trio of Cisse, Stretner and Lygaard troubling Chris Waller and the Euran defence as much as they could. Stretner headed over Cisse's corner, while Lygaard slammed it wide. As well as that, no-one could get on the end of Mads Olsen's low cutback.

Eura doubled their lead three minutes from half time, as Mark Rodgers headed home from Sinclair's corner. It was Sinclair's second assist of the game, and it looked to have deflated the Semarland side.

They appeared resilient though, bringing on Diego Snow, Yannick Simeone and Adel Nzonzi all at once for Runen, Stretner and Olsen at half time. Nzonzi, 23, hadn't had the most international experience, only coming on as an 84th minute substitute in a friendly, but he looked like a star in the second half.

He almost got an assist when Simeone headed his curling cross over the bar, and almost scored himself but his looping effort went over the bar. Semarland did pull one back, thanks to Snow's chipped pass finding Simeone, who controlled it well before finishing past Chris Waller on 64 minutes.

The Semars showed admirable spirit, with Nzonzi, Cisse and Snow supplying many good balls for Lygaard and Simeone who couldn't finish. Matur Eiriksson's volley soared over the bar and Jakob Lunds headed wide, but there were still plenty of chances.

Eura sealed it on 77 minutes when substitute Skorji Oslograd slotted home from Ryan King's cross. Oslograd, who replaced Sam Ashtree on 70 minutes, then became 12 goals closer to reaching the 100-goal mark, which Semarland captain Marc Lygaard did not so long ago.

Unfortunately, Lygaard couldn't score as the game finished 3-1 to Eura. Semarland next face Western Borderlands back home in Semarland at the Natunolstadion. They narrowly defeated Semarland's neighbours the Royal Kingdom of Quebec 4-3.

The plane landed, carrying the Barunia Suns to their first match of World Cup 71, against Khalifa Arabia. The team chatted excitedly at the prospect of their first game. Rose Kingsley was the first to open the door of the chartered aircraft. She poked her head out as she started to say "This is going to be gre…"
The words died on Rose's lips as she looked out. Darkness assaulted her vision - blackness sucked at her eyeballs, suffocating, all-encompassing blackness. Rose blinked her eyes, just to make sure they were open. Still the blackness remained. She looked inside the plane - all was fine, so she wasn't going blind. She looked outside again. Black stared at her. She tried to give it a prod, and almost fell out the plane. That was odd. Where were the steps? Perhaps they'd landed in the middle of a power cut. But, she thought she remembered that the Suns were meant to land during the day. Surely it couldn't be night already?

Rose and a few of the more adventurous members of the team were lowered down to the ground. Rose had been expecting hard tarmac underfoot, but this was soft. She lowered her hand and touched something that felt like grass. She blinked and pulled at a chunk. It came away in her hand, and she smelt it. It was grass. She was beginning to thin they hadn't arrived in Khalifa Arabia after all. She scanned the landscape for any clues as to their location. As she did so, she began to notice things in the landscape, shapes in the darkness, barely imperceptible in the gloom. Except, her mind was telling her, it wasn't that their was a lack of light. Rather, the landscape itself was black. The grass under her feet was black, the rolling hills were black, the sky was black.

Rose looked at the clump of grass in her hands. How she could see it at all was a mystery to her, for she could see no light source, but somehow she was able to see slight changes in the absence of colour before her. The grass was as black as midnight, no, as black as coal, no, as pitch, no… Rose tried to think of a suitable metaphor, but the best she could come up with was "as black as … black". It seemed to fit though. No black had ever been as perfect, as devoid of colour as this. It was black personified.

Out on the hills, only a small distance away, Rose could now make out a building. Guessing it would be the best place to get answers to where she was, she headed towards it. As she drew near, she saw a tall figure in a black robe looking away from her. Rose cleared her throat nervously, and began "Er, excuse me…"
"YES?" The voice rolled around the hills, and seemed to echo in Rose's head. For some reason, it reminded her of gravestones being dropped on each other.
"Um, what is this place?"
"THIS IS MY DOMAIN."
"Oh. Um, who are you?"
"I AM KNOWN BY MANY NAMES. REAPER OF SOULS. DESTROYER OF WORLDS. THE FINAL JUDGE. BILL."
"That sounds like death" said Rose.
"I SEE YOU KNOW ME." Said Death, turning his skeletal face to her.

"So, I'm dead then?" Weirdly, Rose didn't feel that upset about it. Maybe it was the shock.
"ACTUALLY, NO."
Rose scratched her head. She was relieved to be able to feel her fingers rake the skin. Perhaps, she really was alive. But if that was the case, why was she here?
"YOU WERE HEADED FOR KHALIFA ARABIA." Said Death.
"That doesn't answer my question." said Rose, and only then realised she hadn't actually asked the question. Death didn't seem to notice though.
"YOU ARRIVED IN THE CORRECT PLACE."
"Wait, this is Khalifa Arabia?"
"NOT…QUITE. IT WOULD BE CLOSER TO THE TRUTH TO SAY THIS WAS THE COUNTRY'S LAST KNOWN ADDRESS."
It took Rose a little while to work that out. Death stood waiting patiently. Eventually, she asked, "So, the whole nation's dead, then?"
"YES."
"Oh." said Rose. Then her mind grabbed hold of a shred of reality, and she added, "I suppose that's ruined the football, then."
"WHAT IS FOOTBALL?"
"Oh, just a game."
"A GAME? I LIKE GAMES. GAMES ARE FUN."

So began one of the strangest games of football. On a field of black black grass, Rose Kingsley took to the field with ten other Barunians. On the other field stood Death, the Grim Reaper himself. With him were an old man with a frying pan, a giro with a severe expression and black hair shot with white. There was also a small rodent of some description. As might be expected, they all wore black, including the rodent.
Death and his friends had no idea of the sport, but they turned that to their advantage, moving like a clumsy cyclone of flailing bones, and in the rodent's case very sharp teeth, knocking and biting their way to three goals. However, Kingsley and her team doubled that, and as they flew back from that strange, dark land, Rose could not help but turn the encounter over in her mind. As she thought about what Death, the Destroyer of Worlds had said to her, one thing jumped out of her. She stopped, stared, and repeated the word incredulously, dashing the question and demanding an answer she knew would have to wait her entire life to be answered. "Bill?"

OOC: Khalifa CTE'd, so I'm adopting the traditional licence of free reign. Also, yes, this is a blatant tribute to Terry Pratchett. Death and his "team" are directly inspired by him.

POLAASKAN 4-2 ADOXINIA

Key moments from the Natunolstadjon, Polaaberg

2' CHANCE! Riko van Bommel of Polaaskan blazes his effort over the bar. Picking up the ball on the half way line, he plays a neat one-two with Lukas Karlstrom before chesting the ball down and lashing an unstoppable shot at goal. If that would have gone in, it would have been a goal of a lifetime. Good play.

9' GOAAAAL! Polaaskan get their first goal of the World Cup! It's none other than Timo Heinckel. A mazy run down the left hand side from Karlstrom who whips in a brilliant cross met by the head of Heinckel, who heads it past Adoxinia's goalkeeper. 1-0 to Polaaskan.

11' ALMOST 2-0! Heinckel again is in the right place in the right team and he almost hooks Jonathan van Leonardsen's whipped cross past the Adoxinian goalkeeper. Great attacking play from Polaaskan here.

18' GOAL! Disaster for Polaaskan. 1-1. A mishap from Christian Hogg lets the Adoxinian striker slam home past a dumbfounded Teemu Petersen.

25' GOAAAL! POLAASKAN BACK IN THIS! 2-1. Iiro Mihaylov nets this time with another spectacular goal. Karlstrom is again involved. Some great passing from the two and a Mikke Leonardsen cross finds Mihaylov on the outside of the Adoxinian penalty area. Slaloming past a defender, he curls the ball into the far top corner. Excellent strike.

37' Ouch. That looked nasty. A clash of heads between van Bommel and an Adoxinian player sees van Bommel exit the field. Ragge Bielvenstramm comes on to make his debut in defensive midfield and there will be some added time here, at least a few minutes. The SK Topov Albion captain looks raring to go.

45+4' HALFTIME - Polaaskan 2-1 Adoxinia.

46' Back underway here at the Natunolstadjon. No changes from either side.

48' Yellow card for Mikke Leonardsen as he fells the Adoxinian left back.

53' CHANCE! Adoxinia see their shot go wide of Petersen's post.

55' CHANCE! Adoxinia were in a similar position there, but it goes wide.

57' Substitution - Iiro Mihaylov comes off, Artem Vestoriko comes on. Still 2-1.

62' GOAAAL! Polaaskan get their third, and it's substitute Artem Vestoriko who gets it! Latching onto Vasili Semshov's searching through ball, he takes a touch into the empty penalty area and drills it into the far corner. 3-1.

72' GOAAAL! That's sealed now. Ragge Bielvenstramm scores on his debut with a cracker. After Vestoriko was fouled on the far side, captain Sol Arke takes the free kick and finds Bielvenstramm in the crowded penalty area who hits first time into the roof of the net. 4-1 now.

83' GOAL! Adoxinia pull one back here. After Petersen athletically tips another shot round the post, the Adoxinian centre-back rises high and heads the corner home. 2-2.

85' Final substitution for Polaaskan here as Johan Pekarik replaces Mikke Leonardsen for the final few minutes.

90+1' FULL TIME! Polaaskan 4-2 Adoxinia. Great start to Polaaskan's World Cup qualifying campaign, bad one for Adoxinia's campaign. 4-2 here at the Natunolstadjon.

Polaaskan next travel to Palmeria for their next game, who lost 3-0 to Quakmybush. Tickets are still available, you can go to pfa.net/tickets to purchase them now. Hurry, not many are left.

Polaaskan: Teemu Petersen, Vasili Semshov, Sol Arke (c), Christian Hogg (vc), Jonathan van Leonardsen, Lukas Karlstrom, Iiro Mihaylov (Artem Vestoriko 57), Riko van Bommel (Ragge Bielvenstramm 38), Mikke Leonardsen (Johan Pekarik 85), Patrik Ael, Timo Heinckel

The game against Apox

Image

Image

The expectation before the match against Apox is very big because is a important game to 'Dark Lions' that won against Albaie by 3-0 score making a huge goal difference on the debut and now needs to prove that Dark Lions have the same bravure and willpower as always,a win against Apox can be great for the team can make six points and 'route' a good begin in this World Cup Qualifiers to forget the bad elimination in the last World Cup Qualifiers, despite the good campaign and will be a game to see if Red Blackiland will dispute,in fact,a place to play soccer with more 31 countries in the Franz Ferdinand and pizza/fish lands.
A huge pyro,as usual and a mosaic is awarded to be made, during the entrance scene of the players on the field, when the 'Dark Lions' bus will travel around Red Glorious Stadium dependences,a great party usual knowed by 'Fire Streets' or 'Ruas de Fogo' will be made.
Image

Apox fans at Red Blackiland

Peter Valbuena, actual coach of Red Blackiland said that Apox is a very skillful and qualified team and have international stars in your squad, but Red Blackiland showed that with focus and willpower can overcome hard obstacles like well-placed teams in the rankings, and one more time, needs to show it to your fans and crowd, certainly, the crowd will support the team until the end and this is because that crowds have confidence on the team, things built by a good two-year history of overcome obstacles.
A tactical well-posted team, with fast line passes will be crucial for can produce a good result tonight,in these months that Red Blackiland don't played any friendlies, the team trained your habilities and accuracy, the style of players suffered changes a bit.He completed your interview saying ''We will give priority to the offensive game, waiting the rival in the defense, attacking at all stadiums, regardless of playing inside or outside the home, don't waiting the rival attacks all time,we will be aggresive in the line that the defense will exit to the attack with the ball.
And Carmona called the fans to the stadium, for support the team road to a win,all tickets was sold and the expectation for a full-filled stadium is an reality.
The pitch is ours!

Vision from the Fans #1 - Empty Stadium

Viewing a report of a soccer TV program,a study was made to verify the impact to the player before a match without a single fan. Here's what I understood, No crowd, shouting that can reach 120 decibels of noise (a jackhammer reaches 110), the player gets accommodated in the field, because their level of adrenaline in the body is much less intense. This makes him pay less attention to the attack or defensive moves, has loss of possible chances calculation, increases your emotional stress, causing the increase of heartbeat and consequently will tire running less, not to mention the tension of the muscles, which can facilitating lesions.
Now nothing compares with the moral effect. Imagine the player entering the field without a fan to applaud? It's like football lost its meaning or sense. In the sports world, not much bother me more than an empty stadium. I can watch a game of poor technical quality, provided there is an interesting atmosphere in the stands. On the other hand, any big game will be a real show if there is no audience.
I do not propose to discuss the causes of various stadiums are empty. The press has done frequently. Although many reports, reports and statistics, few measures are put into practice. Clubs and federations to organize the championships do not seem to work to change the situation, although there are exceptions. The grandstand of fans displacement to the couch is an old subject, but now sounds like something irreversible. The reasons may be the high ticket prices, violence, inflation, the low quality of the current football matches, the match times, the heat, winter, poor public transport, the prohibition of beer, the beach or the safety of shopping. The fan makes use of any of these discourses to justify their absence in what could be almost a weekly commitment.
Interestingly, all these problems are quickly forgotten when it comes time for a championship final,a derby or a decisive game.At this time, all the difficulties are forgotten and want to be with our team. I therefore believe that passion is not over or even decreased. And follow not understand why move away from, if we say that we love so much football.
Also criticized the inertia of leaders, directors and presidents who do little to bring good amount of public in stadiums. Therefore, experiments like this done below are welcome:
On the last weekend, Gremio Rockshore and Internacional of Roca Escalada, played at the Beira-Mar Stadium in Rockshore. Are two teams of the third national division, but even so, the game is surrounded by a history of violence off the pitch. As a result, the top hats and learders decided that this would be the "derby of peace". In an stadium sector with a capacity of 2,000 people, each Inter-fan partner was entitled to buy a ticket to a Grêmio Rockshore fan.The idea was to demonstrate that the rival fans could watch the classic with harmony with the rivals and it worked. At least in that sector, no problems were recorded. Outside, another group of Gremio Rockshore supporters clashed with the police and opponents.
I only ask you not invite me to watch a game side of my rival to. As the ball begins 'walking' on the field, i prefer support and believe that I can help my team in any way. I think to do that, shoulder to shoulder with a rival is a little uncomfortable. But after the final whistle, nothing against share a beer. In practice, the only thing that concerns me in this episode is that a model of support that will be lose spaces in stadiums, in detriment to a more behaved crowd.
In the end, is the fear that may be in operation an attempt to limit the access of the traditional fan to the modern stadiums. Even without being able to see if this is happening, the fact is that the strategy is going wrong, after all, are left empty chairs. The new fans invited to join the party did not accept the invitation and only confirm presence when the event is really important.

them from back in the old days, hrright?”

“Ayyuh. They were one of the teams with hwhom the Belles had regular ‘friendly’ games. Ur’rmm, and if memory serves me true then there were even a few Bears playing for teams in
their league at one stage.”

“Hr’rmmm”.

“Not here? Hwhat do you mean, not here?”

“I mean
“not here”, for true. I’ve just checked with home, by raven, and apparently somebody somehows misread the schedule before. We aren’t supposed to be playing away to West Angola, we’re supposed to be playing at home against Varmelle instead.”

“Oh, fleas and fur-loss! Hwhen?”

“Well, the good news is that after the plane’s re-fuelled we’ll still have enough time to get back to Wimbley for the match.”

“And the
bad news?”

“After the plane’s re-fuelled we’ll still have enough time to get back to Wimbley for the match. Just about that, and barely a watch to spare unless the wind is verrry strongly in our favour.”

“Urrgah!”
“That’s not exactly going to help our girls’ readiness to play…”

“For true!”

OOC: Just in case if anyone wonder, I received the permission from Western Borderlands to RP it as such, with great reception from him.

Match in Western Borderlands Leads to Bizarre Events to Unfold, in a 3-4 away loss

QUEBEC CITY/VILLE DE QUEBEC — Last night, the Grim Reapers faced their first opponent in a year, as they faced the Western Borderlands. The Quebecois Nationals were heavily jeered and insulted before the match, as they faced their opponents in one of the most dangerous matches set for them. The threats made against various members, including 7 members of the starters, forced the National Team to fly without all their starters but one. Fortunately the threats, made by the Christian State, did not lead anyone to death yet but it certainly weighed enough upon the players as they made their way to the game.

Once the Grim Reapers made their way to the centre of the pitch, it was to be revealed on how bad it was going to get for the boys in Red, Grey and Black. As the 21st-ranked side marched into the stadium, the players were booed and told to "Go Home" by many Westetrners. The Quebecois National Anthem was drowned out by the sounds of booing and gunpowder, and it was of no surprise that they instantly felt threatened. This however didn't affect the game and 5 minutes later the match started with high tensions in a stadium at Northbrook.

The draw for those who move the ball first favoured Quebec, whom eventually had Roberto Di Maria commission the ball, before passing it to Hazel Van Robben. Van Robben, the latest Quebecois superstar just off a magical LigAnaia season with Fligsive, quickly made a move by deking two of their midfielders, and were not that far away from the net. It was then that the beginning of all, occurred, as Van Robben got an extremely unfair red card on the fourth minute for on-turf dispute which was due to an on-turf action that was blatantly incomprehensible to most sensible persons.

What happened was that Van Robben, who was about to set it up on a cross to Zachary Fortin, got tackled and then pressed by Drake Manthromma in what was a penalty-worthy action, before saying a disturbing, extremely-derogative sentence to the 16-year old. Van Robben, clearly not impressed by this, kick the MRA right in his jaw, breaking it with a smooth but effective kick at the spot. The referee, 43-year old Markus Anderlecht, gave her a red card rightaway, without also pointing out at the very source behind it. Van Robben, not happy about the treatment, was left with no option but to spit at the opponent as she left. The players, originally described as "jovial" and "passionate", turned "surly" and booed the decision. They were unhappy with the decision, but after 10 minutes of stoppage had to be back in the game.

Very upset at what their only original starter had to go through, the Grim Reapers decided to make up for their loss by making a difference in scores. 18-year old Marcos Zelaya, the rising star at SK Aasiaat Harbour, scored the first goal of the match in 8th minute of the game with a nice bicycle kick off an awesome cross by Jason Goulding. Unfortunately, Zelaya accidentally slipped on a celebratory Hamburger he received from the team trainer, fell and accidentally broke his ankle. This certainly didn't help the Grim Reapers, who were now without two of their best players.

This was then followed by the tying goal by the Westerners, who were able to take advantage of the miscommunication by the defenders. Seon Hyuk Kim, disregarded his defensive duties and pressed for the journey to the opponent zone to double the lead. When that didn't work out, the Grim Reapers' defense was left with a huge hole that Erik Tijadik took advantage of. After a relatively simple series of tic and toes, he launched the long-range shot that Courtois was unable to make a save out of.

In the next 20 minutes the Quebecois regrouped however, and quickly scored two more goals to make it a 3-1 game for the Grim Reapers. The 2-1 goal by Andrew Hyun, who was forced to play the role of Centre Attacking Midfielder, started the 20-minute long ride. Man Jin Kang's corner was floated in for Angelo Gelinas to beat Aneluc in the air, and, while Tarane got in a block, the ball fell for Hyun, who did superbly to get the precision and power on his standing header to beat Haunedo into the corner. This then was followed by another goal 5 minutes later, as the lead was increased to 3-1 on a Trojana goal by Di Maria and Goulding. CD Aguila marksman Di Maria, who took advantage of the cavernous gap in Westerners’ midfield, to step forward and instantly pick out typically high-quality pass. Goulding was the recipient, running in behind the bewildered Western Borderlands backline before showing some ability with his feet to fire low into the far corner of the net. The tiny contingent of Quebecois fans, 100 in their numbers, wildly cheered as they showered themselves and the home fans with gatorade.

Sadly, the happiness would soon be disrupted by a horrible decision by the Nepharim referee. Thirtieth minute into play, Seon Hyuk Kim was shoved harshly by Avendom Maxim, forcing him to dive unintentionally into the turf. Anderlecht, a referee known for his hatred towards diving, immediately gave him the yellow card. This led Carlos Ferrari to complain about the decision, on the behalf of the team, leading to a hostile confrontation that had him receive red card. "This was a huge downer in the first half," Ferrari said in post-game media conference. "The referee did 'many' sensible decisions, but ones like this clearly ruined the game."

With two key players out of Grim Reapers' lineup, it wasn't long before the Westerners came back. Thanks to another defensive mistake in the 35th minute, this time by Gong, Arion Carr easily scored to make it 3-2. The fans wildly cheered as the host team slowly made their comeback. As they got used to the artificial advantage they were given, they were able to register 5 shots in next 10 minutes. One was particularly dangerous, as launched a bullet-like shot in long distance. Fortunately, despite Seung Myeon Courtois being unprepared to take the shot, it was bounced off the crossbar, just by mere nanometers wide. So by the end of first half, it was still 3-2, in favour of Grim Reapers.

Neither side made any substitutions yet, our Grim Reapers due to lack of players to replace and the home side for unknown reasons. That being said, both teams looked to achieve their goal in the second half entering the pitch again. Second half was lot more eventful than the first half: Lot more missed calls, lot more unfair penalties, etc. Westerners became increasingly evident and they attacked very quickly, but also engaged in misconduct for Quebec that was so blatant in nature.

At the 51th minute into the game, Namuro Red racially targeted Aaron Hyun, by saying an extremely offensive racist term against Korean Quebecois. Hyun didn't respond to it nicely at all, punching the suspected-KKK right in the left eye. This led to Hyun getting a yellow card and nothing for the racist Westerner, which led to both sides having to make substitutions. Hyun was substituted for Claude Im Shik Sung (that's how desperate they were on substitutions), and Namuro Red for Maurice Arkazan.

In the 67th minute, a mistake by Arion Carr lead to a Quebecois breakaway and a goal for Burgess FC striker Angelo Gelinas...except that one of the linesmen (incorrectly) ruled that Gelinas was offsides, preventing the score from slowly slipping away. The Grim Reapers were once again unhappy about it, but they were unable to overrule this.

The Grim Reapers started to get more aggressive in their display of play, and soon it would cost them the lead. At the 75th minute of the game, Roberto Di Maria accidentally elbowed in the face while on a header, and was booked for this. The penalty shot was given and Vencharde would score right off his shot. The game was tied now.

but got the Grim Reapers riled up, as they launched 7 shots on net over the next 11 minutes. Still both sides played with much intensity and fire involved, dazzling the fans and all the watchers of it. Then down came another highlight, though not a good one, like how we have seen it.

The game-winning goal, scored on the 86th minute, was very controversial, due to poor eyesight by the referee and a foul play that went in. Kenneth Winton tried to hook the ball clear but didn't execute it well. The ball screwed off his foot and into the penalty area, toward Byzar, who had continued his run. Seung Myeon Courtois came out of his goal to punch the ball clear. Then the moment of cheating occurred, as Byzar punched it hard and clear, with his right hand. As if it's bewitched, the ball went into the goal. The referee, despite seeing the infringement of what's a basic rule in this sport, allowed the goal, leading the quiet but loud Quebecois contingent to shout 'Death to the Nepharim Referee' and 'Should be 4-2'.

Instantly the stadium went silent, as the horrible act was allowed to be passed like many of legislation under a RLStates Harper legislation. Despite that the away fans still chanted, not giving up on their heroes, with their deafening chants of 'Go Grim Reapers' and 'Vivre le Quebec'. Players of both sides, knowing that there's still 10 more minutes to play(including the extra time), gave out their best. Lots expected the Grim Reapers to bounce back but they were far too exhausted to tie the scoreboard. After a couple of minutes, Royal Kingdom of Quebec ended up losing the game, 4-3, to Western Borderlands.

The game was not yet to be over however. As the game finished and players shook their hands, the stadium announcer and sound manager accidentally pressed the wrong button for the end-of-game music, which led to this blasting into the stadium. As a result, a massive dance party happened in the stadium, with everybody dancing and making up for what was a rather mistake-filled game by the referee and disappointing game for both sides.

Ministry of Sport overrules DSF, moves Valladares match to Net Natinalen Stadin
DSF President Timothy O'Donahaue to be called before Parliamentary Committee on Sport

Image
Darmeni Soccer Federation President Timothy O'Donahaue has already
faced criticism over his job performance since Riotgate
SCOTT CITY - Following a controversial decision by the Darmeni Soccer Federation to schedule their rivalry World Cup Qualifying match against Valladares at the 15,500 seat Rodell Stadium on the northern island of Tilden, the Ministry of Sport has stepped in and moved the location of the match to the Net Natinalen Stadin in Scott City.

According to the DSF, the decision to hold the match in Tilden was made due to "security precautions". In actuality, the security plans for the match called for normal levels of security. A DSF official, speaking anonymously as he was not cleared to speak on the issue, said that the real reasons for scheduling the match were "to make travel harder for Valladar fans".

Whatever the reasons, the Valladar Football Association was not happy, responding by letter to the DSF that it was withholding tickets from Darmeni fans for the match in Canalave (which Darmen lost 3-1 in the sweltering heat of the afternoon) and demanding that the return leg be moved away from Rodell. It also noted that the DSF was required to host all future matches against Valladares in stadiums seating no less than 60,000, a requirement which Rodell Stadium clearly does not meet.

The DSF initially refused to move the location of the match, and revoked all tickets sold to Valladar fans. The Ministry of Sport however, itself under pressure from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Relations not to repeat "Riotgate", stepped in, moving the match to the capital. It also reinstated the tickets sold to Valladar fans, although it banned any further sales to Valladar fans. Only 3,000 Valladar fans will have tickets the match, according to the official ticket sales records as released by the DSF.

In response to the debacle his organization has created, Sports Minister Georges Thomas personally summoned DSF President Timothy O'Donahaue to appear before the Parliamentary Committee on Sport to answer to the many questions the Committee is expected to have. A hearing has been provisionally scheduled for Tuesday morning. Thomas and O'Donahaue were both unavailable for comment.

Resituated

introduction

Part two: Gary nae mates

There was a bustle about the art gallery, a kind of cut and thrust that excited Gary whenever he was at an exhibition opening. It struck him that the private viewing was not about the work. No. If you were there you already knew what the work was. It was about acknowledging the artist’s contribution and about showing your support. If you were so inclined, it could also be a chance to network, to meet likeminded people and exchange ideas, while reinforcing social relations.

Gary had been invited by his friend Sabine Hegel, one of the artists showing work. He had first met her at a PFA award night a few seasons back, met her at a football event off all places. Sabine happened to be the partner of his Schottia teammate Bruno Schwartz, one of the players Gary didn’t actually know too well. Gary had instantly fallen for her. Well of course he had, he was that predictable. He was a sucker for a girl with a pretty face and interests that lay firmly away from the football filed. He wouldn’t have perused anything; even if he had wanted to she was probably out of his league. She was ANL, and he was Schottic Regional Division D.

They had stayed in touch though, and whenever she was showing in the Handon area Gary would drop everything to make it to one of her shows.

Strangely Gary felt relaxed and at ease in this kind of setting. His turtle shell glasses and beard, which earned him such ridicule on the training pitch, by contrast allowed him to blend in and melt away in the art-scene. There was also the added advantage that few artists seemed to follow football. Yes. Here in this crowded, artist run gallery in a quiet Handon backstreet, Gary felt totally at ease.

The gallery was in the basement beneath an artisan coffee house, and to get there you had to descend a narrow flight of concrete steps; all the time your head being filled with the aroma of fresh espresso. Inside, the square and rather non-descript room, was painted white, and lit by industrial strip lighting along the celling. The room was busy, there had to be thirty of forty people crammed into the small space. All of them were divided into smaller sub-groups of folk who knew each other, with some sociable souls floating between the groups. Gary figured that most of them were probably students, either at New Belfast Institute of Art, or The University of Handon. He would have liked to study art, he would have. He was twenty-two, he would have probably been graduating this year, maybe looking to enrol on a Masters programme somewhere, or take a year out and intern at a local gallery. But that was out of the question, he was a footballer now, and he would just have to like it or lump it.

Lump it… He shouldn’t tempt himself, lumping it was a distinct temptation.

He had a quick glance around for Sabine, but he couldn’t make her out at present, she was reasonably tall for a woman, not far off 180cm, so she was normally easy to spot. It was hard to make out where the work was situated too, such was the swell of people, none of whom seemed to be looking at anything on the walls. Gary though he would bide his time and take the opportunity to get a drink from the table at the entrance.

The makeshift bar was what appeared to be a wallpapering table, covered with carless splatters of brightly coloured paint. The bar (or table) was manned by two young hipsters, probably two of the gallery’s committee members. The girl-member was wearing a brown leather jacket open over a glittery-black jumper, the guy-member wore jeans and a denim jacket; he also had a beard, a shorter version of Gary’s. To one side of the table there was a couple of 3ltr boxes of wine, with some plastic cups already laid out, to the other side was a bucket filled with bottles of beer in ice. In the centre of the table was a small metal money tin and a sign which read “Drinks £1.”

Gary rummaged through his pockets finding three Schottic Pound coins, that meant three bottles of beer. Tomorrow was Saturday and he had his first match for Marionville, the Old Boys as their fans called them, he should at least be lucid for it.

He turned and glanced into the room once more, just in case he missed Sabine. He was on his own here after all; out on a limb.

He caught the eye of a young student, a girl, no more than eighteen or nineteen.

She smiled at him,

he smiled back.

She wore a maroon coloured felt jacked over a short dark-blue dress and black tights. Gary tried hard not to look at her legs. She had little make up on, and had a suitably Art-School-style fringe.

‘I’ll just take a bottle of beer please.’ Gary said turning back towards the guy-committee-member.

‘That’s a pound, man!’ The hipster said handing Gary a bottle of cold Lammerton Lager, and accepting his single coin.

‘Cheers, man.’ “Man!” He really was on holiday.

‘Cheers.’

The young art student he had just smiled at was standing next to him being served by the girl-committee-member. She glanced sideways at him nervously as she took her money from her purse. She flashed eye contact, and tucked a few loose strands of hair quickly behind her ear.

‘Hi, Gary, isn’t it?’ She said blushing.

Oh no, not a fan. Not tonight please… Gary was blushing too, his neck suddenly hot.

‘Oh, don’t worry, I’m not here to bother you.’ She replied sensing his discomfort and reddening even more. ‘Chloe Rudden.’ She said switching her bottle of beer over to offer her right hand. Gary, doing the same, accepted it. Her hand was amazingly slender; it was also cold from the beer bottle.

‘Hi, there…’ Chloe Rudden; it sounded familiar. The cogs were turning, but nothing was falling into place.

‘Sorry.’ She said, scrunching her eyes shut and shaking her head, as if realising her mistake ‘We’ve met before. Well. Sort of… if you would call it a meeting.’

‘I’m so sorry.’ Said Gary, genuinely unable to place her. ‘I’m terrible with names and faces.’ Not particularly true, but he didn’t want to embarrass the girl.

‘No it’s totally cool, it was under pretty different circumstances, and I didn’t look like this.’ She exhaled a laugh, growing in confidence a little. ‘I play for Handon Eagles? In the woman’s super league?’ She was waiting for Gary to catch on, but he didn’t really follow football and they were just words to him. ‘Well anyways… I trained with you once when you were playing for the Under-21s and I was with the Under-19s, it was two years ago to be fair. So…’

He had clearly embarrassed the poor girl, fancy not knowing her name. Well in his defence she would have looked very different. Say something. Save the conversation. Don’t leave it like this. Tell a lie.

‘Oh yeah, of course. Yeah, you would have had your hair back and stuff…’ He made the motion with his hands as if it added something to the conversation.

‘Yeah, and I was, like, sixteen.’ Chloe laughed, clearly relieved that she hadn’t made a fool of herself. She had an almost goofy laugh, Gary liked it.

‘Yeah, Yeah…’

‘Yeah…’

‘So you guys must be near the top of the table…?’ Gary was guessing.

‘Nah, we were. That’s probably what you’re think of.’

‘Yeah.’ He lied. ‘I remember the Eagles doing well, but with everything that’s been happening in my life right now I kind of lost track.’ A good save there. He had been stuck in a civil-war, she couldn’t hold that against him.

‘Oh my god of course.’ It was her turn to feel bad now. What was this, guilt tennis? ‘I heard all about that. Was that pretty scary?’

‘Not really no, I didn’t really see any of the fighting. There were a few protests in the city but it was largely pretty uneventful considering what was going on.’

She was nodding along as he spoke, a look of concern on her face. She paused to sip her beer before asking the next question.

‘So what do you do now then? Will you go back to playing for the Flockers once the war’s over?’

‘Well…’ Gary wondered if it was professional to say he hoped not. ‘Technically I’m on loan hear so if the war is over within my contract then I guess I’ll go back but I’m not totally sure.’

She again nodded along while he spoke, then once he had finished, smiled and spoke once more.

‘So what brings you here anyway?’ She said indicating with a thumb that they should talk somewhere that didn’t obstruct the drinks table. She seemed confident now, willing to take the lead. ‘I mean I know I’m setting myself up for a similar question here, but you don’t bump into many footballers in Art galleries.’

‘No…’ Gary accepted her point with a smile. ‘I actually like it that way.’ He added a laugh at the end in case he had over stepped things with that remark.

‘No don’t worry, me too!’ She reached over and touched his arm. In Gary’s head you could have heard a pin drop. She Chloe, eh… Somethingorother, touch him Gary Corise on the arm. Snap out of it.

‘Yeah, but I have a friend who’s showing work.’ He added finally.

‘Ah cool, which piece is hers?’ Chloe went up onto her tiptoes to try and see where the pieces were situated, but she was a good bit shorted than Gary.

‘Eh I’m not sure yet.’ Said Gary, accompanying it with a short laugh. ‘I haven’t had a chance to have a look around yet.’ He puffed his cheeks out a little, feeling a bit bad that he had went to the drinks table before the art, but he guessed he wasn’t the only one.

‘I’ve heard really good things about the show.’ Chloe added again looking around in vein for some artwork. ‘I was really curious to see what they had done with the space, the guys that run this gallery put on some interesting stuff.’

It was Gary’s turn to nod along.

‘Shall we have a look around?’ Chloe asked, already turning towards the gallery proper.

Gary shrugged and followed. It certainly beat standing around like Jimmy nae mates.

Schottia were on top form yesterday, as they avoided a potential match day one banana skin, slamming five past Group 11 rivals Fratton. Barry Gorman's men had a comfortable start to the campaign in front of a packet Harbourhill stadium as they kept their focus to see off the team that reached the last-16 of the Baptism of Fire.

It was a very familiar Schottia side that lined up for the first game on the road to Yttribia & Felix. The only change to the expected starting eleven was Di Bradini Cup winner Craig O'Maramy, who earned his third cap on the right wing. The 21-year-old Warriors winger had seemingly impressed his manager as he helped his side lift the trophy.

The White and Greens, playing in their new look black away-strip, kicked off the match in confident fashion as they looked to press the home advantage. Schottia had the game's first chance 7 minutes in when Handon United attacker Gaston Avelione used his pace to get in behind the Fratton defence. It was a clever, chipped through ball from Jon Fotan, which seemed to catch everyone out. However, the Fadron Flight midfielder slightly misjudged the weight of his pass, leaving Avelione unable to connect properly with the ball, which he struck straight at the keeper.

This seemed to give the fans and the players a sense of belief and it wasn't long before Schottia broke the deadlock. On 10 minutes right-back Jack Gordon picked up a slack pass on the halfway line. Looking up, he played the ball forward to Eoin Killanen, who took the pass on his chest before out turning the left-back. Schottia's Under 21 captain never normally needs much of an invitation to shoot and this was no different, as he slid the ball home from 12-yards-out. By this point Schottia were very much in the ascendency and they quickly doubled their lead 5 minutes later.

This time it was Avelione who was the provider, reaching the by-line before cutting back onto his right foot, and crossing the ball for Mark Allen. The big striker rose higher than the defenders to nod the ball past the outstretched keeper, as the FC Hill Valley player opened his account. The home side were in complete control by this stage, but they weren’t finished there, and on 30 minutes they had already put the game beyond all doubt.

After some strong play by Gary Corsie, holding up the ball on the edge of the 18-yard-box, the player was eventually upended by a Frattan midfielder, winning his side a free kick in an excellent position. Fotan, Avelione and Allen all stood over the dead ball, but it was to be set piece specialist Fotan who curled the ball round the wall and into the top corner. That made it three, and despite the occasional half chance for the visitors, Schottia simply needed to run down the clock to head up the tunnel at half time with a commanding lead.

Barry Gorman made a double change 50 minutes in, however, and that seemed to take some of the sting out of the game. The manager was no doubt in the mood to rest players, bringing on Port Sebastian teenager Joey Bia in place of O'Maramy, and Alfred Seggerson on for Corsie. The latter was making his competitive debut, after the Handon United player opted to play for Schottia before the start of the tournament.

The Kloith born player made an instant impact as it was his pass, on 57 minutes, that set up Killanen for his second. After a neat one two with Avelione, Seggerson found himself in bags of room as he surged forward towards goal. He was then gifted way too much space as he slotted the ball through for the FC Zürich forward to blast home his second of the game from the centre of the box. The 20-year-old, after his form in Starblaydia was beginning to prove himself as one of the best young players in the region.

The match wasn't all one way, however, and 10 minutes from time Fratton got a consolation goal, rewarding their never say die attitude. The strike would give their fans, who had remained in the stadium till the end, some hope that they can pick up a couple of results during the qualifiers.

Schottia still had something left in the tank though, and they finished of the game in triumphant style, as Avelione scored with a fantastic solo effort.

The result will have left the fans celebrating ling into the night, and given the side real belief that they can mount a qualification bid this time round. The manner of the victory and the all round performance will no doubt stand as a statement of intent to the rest of the group, showing that Schottia have what it takes to produce results at the right time. Winning will also come as something as a relief for Gorman, who will be happy that his side didn't suffer the same fate as many other nations, in what was a day of big upsets.

Line- up: D'Araby 6, Gordon 7 (78 Watt 6), O'Brian 8, Hanlon 7, Okywä 7, O'Maramy 7 (50 Bia 7), Avelione 8, Corsie 7 (50 Seggerson 7), Foton 8, Killanen 9, Allen 8,

Man of the Match: Killanen. Its hard to beleive this guy is only 20, such is level of the FC Zürich man. Outstandind today.

No struggle to survive.

What a match to behold. For the third straight time, Zenic has won their first match of the qualifiers and this time they did it against a top tier team, the Ceni national squad. By the end of the match, the scoreline read 6-2 in favor of our squad. For those of you do didn’t have a chance to view the game, I’m just the person you need right now.

The game was played at the Philosophia Colloseum in Manascus, just outside of the capital city, New Ciitum in front of a crowd of 98,246. Both teams started the match at full speed with possession switching between the two every 15 seconds. Eventually, Zenic took advantage of Killian’s open spot within the Cenian formation to launch the ball forward to Augustine, who in turn laid it off for Kun-woo to score the first goal of the World Cup 71 qualifying campaign in the 9th minute. However, the lead would be relinquished in the 17th minute as Del Olmo scored. The next goal came in the 38th minute as Noveth scored. The scoreline would read 1-2 in favor of the visitors at the end of the first half and it looked as if Zenic might lose the momentum in the second half and potentially lose this important game.

Well, we aren’t sure of what Sanders told his players in the locker room but when they came out onto the pitch for the second half, they looked as confident as they did at the beginning. The team came out swinging, getting goals from both Ayaode and Gavin Barnsley, by the 58th minute to put Zenic up 3-2 at home. After a while, Ayaode scored his second of the game to make it 4-2 and Sanders made the decision to sit both Ayaode as well as Kun-woo to give them some rest, presumably for the game against Khalifa Arabia. In their place came Felix Peer and Alexi Romanov respectively. Pleasently surprising was their contributions to the game as each got an assist by giving goals to Augustine and Killian by the 79th minute to put the game at 6-2, the final score.

Truly, it was a game to watch and has launched Zenic to the top of Group 17 alongside Barunia. This match could also be the first showing of Zenic finally getting over the hurdle of being a middle of the pack squad to being a World Class squad by beating teams ranked above them. Should Sanders keep his team from getting overconfident and win both games they should win as well as get a few upsets, the rumors surrounding his position and ability should be quelled permanently.

But, as mentioned before, they need to win the games they are supposed to win such as the game against the 168th ranked Khalifa Arabia. The game will be played at home once again in the Philosophia Colloseum. Having played only around an hour in the Ceni match, I assume that Ayaode and Kun-woo will come out at full force in the Khalifa Arabia match and try to put it out of reach by the hour mark. This way, Sanders can keep them rested before traveling to the Stadium Bloumany to face off against the Blouman Empire. It will be an important match as a draw or even a win would provide an incredible amount of momentum for the rest of the qualifiers.

These next two games are setting up to provide a fantastic and entertaining experience. Hope you’ll be able to watch alongside us here at The Leinz Herald as we support our Survivors.

Chiata Times
Isula ge Ru Gets Stomped

To open up the World Cup 71 Qualifiers, Chiata did something unexpected. They won. The actually met expectations! Walters proved that his new squad is capable on an international level. A solid road win against a competent opponent may mean good things in the future for the Suns. Sadly, Isula ge Ru did not submit a roster, so place names will be used instead. As punishment, no accent was given above the 'g' in Isula ge Ru. No, this is not an excuse for our editors not knowing how to type that on a keyboard.

The Match

Isula ge Ru was given the honor of kicking off. Forward Joe lost the ball to Prince after a few seconds, which really set the tone for the entire match. Headed by attacks by Davis, Prince, and Carroll, the Suns made repeated stabs at Isula ge Ru's net. Davis was able to get past her marker and charge for the goal after receiving the pass from Pearlman. Defender Bob moved up, accidently leaving Prince with room to run. Davis recognized the opportunity and threaded the ball through a cluster of bodies to meet with Prince. Prince went head on with Keeper Kyle. With a casual shot to the corner, Prince misjudged the situation as Try-hard Terry slid in and stopped the shot. The ball bounced from the pitch, strait to the Keeper's head, and rattled in the net. Keeper Kyle was deeply embarrassed by the score while Terry hurt his pinkie finger on the goal post and left the game, to be replaced by Defender David.

Forward's Joe and Fahim attempted to salvage hopes for their side but managed nothing against Chiata's stout defense. Off of a long ball, Stewart ran the side lines and was only stopped from veering into the box by a rough tackle from Winger William, who was shown the Yellow card shortly after. Forward Joe finally got his team together and led an assault upon the Suns' defense. Mid Mike got inside the box with the ball and was about to let loose onto the open side of the net if it wasn't for the heroics Martinez, who practically dragged Mike to the ground. The surprise wasn't that Martinez was given a card and that Mike was given a penalty kick, but that Martinez wasn't given a Red Card, a fact that has Isula ge Ru's players howling at the officials. Truex proved his worth by stopping the kick, well actually, he did little. Mike missed the goal all together. The half was winding down by the 40th minute and Isula ge Ru began to play just plain sloppy. Midfield Michael tripped up and gave the ball to Pearlman. She was able to bring the ball to Isula ge Ru's half before passing back to Widman. Winger William fell down, leaving a gap that Widman took advantage of. A hop-skip-and-a-jump later, Davis had the ball, knocking on the door again. Prince poked through again, got the pass from Davis, and tapped the ball in after Keeper Kyle fell too. With wobbly legs, Isula ge Ru left the pitch for the half.

Not much is to be said about the second half, save the four yellows that were called. One was given to Widman in the 50th while another was called on Carroll in the 60th. Isula ge Ru continued to play sloppy, but not quite as terrible as before. Winger Westy was one of the many who was given a yellow card. On the 72nd minute, Prince was subbed out after a job well done and the stadium applauded. Mozrek was sent in the replace him on the pitch. The final yellow of the day was given to Westy, after he poked Webb in the eye. Being his second yellow, Westy was sent off the pitch.

Next match will be against top flight Turori. Though they joined Chiata in the dismal march to the Cup of Harmony, they were actually able to win it. Chiata will play away again, making the game even more difficult. However, the Suns proved themselves today and will look to extend their momentum, at the expense of Turori.

Polkopia Falls Short First Match Day
By: Sebastian Aliyev

Image
Following the match against Pays den haut, the Polkopian National Team leaves the Parc Blainville with slumped shoulders after a 3-2 defeat to the home team.

As we would have expected, the attack was led by Immanuil Serevo, following beautiful through balls by Krenkov, Kantrisov, and Pensov, however it seemed as if though the Polkopian forward was having an off day, as many of his chances were left unconverted. Could this be due to age? Or was the pressure of a large tournament too much for him? Either way, Immanuil Serevo and Rostislav Kantrisov are going to have to step up if they can expect Polkopia to qualify for this prestigious tournament.

This game highlighted the Polkopian team's overall strengths and weaknesses. First, the Polkopian defense has always been rather sloppy when it came down to defending against headers. This was Alexander T'voni's first start for the Polkopian Team, and within 15 minutes, hadn't covered his man properly, leading Vincent, clan Turcotte to head the ball into the Polkopian net with ease. A sloppy performance on his part.

Furthermore, Vladimir Polov's lack of experience took a toll on the Polkopian side today. For instance, the second goal by Pays d'en Haut was scored by Charles-André, clan Saint-Onge. It was a lazy effort from Polov to block the shot; he had lazily stuck his arm out last minute, and it proved to not be enough. Had he dived for the ball, like a keeper should, he would have easily blocked the shot. Personally, I attribute this kind of mentality to the club he plays for. If Polov continues to play for Peeto Gordost', he'll never get the experience that he'd get if he played for a better club in a much better league.

One thing I did notice was the excellency of the Polkopian midfield, who constantly created chances for the offense. Not one midfielder disappointed me today, and coach Spartak Stenin shouldn't blame them for the result of this game.

Next, the Polkopian team plays Allamunnic States, a team where Polkopia can expect to win, even playing on their home ground. The game kicks off in just a few hours, so we'll let you know the results of the game once it's over!

Team Ndaku wins first game on first day of the World Cup 71

Playing at home in Milangua Stadium, Milangua was the Ndakene International team and the Mendoyan International team. Today's game was a massive one; about 320,000 football fans attended the evening match; only about 120,000 were able to watch within the stadium. Team Ndaku was able to win 3-2 against the Mendoyan team; Ndakene scorers Aurélien Boitumelo (25'), Léonce Tatenda (33') and Stephen Azaria (78') and Mendoyan scorers were Iván Moreno (55') and Alexis Vázquez (57').

It was definitely a scare when Vázquez tied up the match in the second half of the game at 57 minutes. Suddenly Milangua Stadium became a little still; every pass and corner kick had to count, or else the Ndakene team would have lost on their own land! The next 21 minutes seemed the longest and most suspenseful of the whole match, then a pass from Ndakene number 15 Pemphero Massamba to 14 Stephen Azaria enabled Azaria to put in one more goal needed to bring victory to Ndaku! This really got the crowd back on their feet!

'Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching. I charge you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead at His appearing and His kingdom: For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables. But you be watchful in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.' (II Timothy 4:1-5 NKJV)

"Yes?" answered the coach. Mago's first day on the qualifiers, where the national team really mattered, ended better than he expected. Sure, the team failed to score a goal at Buyan. Sure, they didn't manage to steal a point from Buyan, but that's a hell of a way to start, he thought. Hell, there was also the fact that the next match was against Thibaut, the group's other knee-biter side. Thankfully, Thibaut was the one team they had a clear chance of facing on fair field. Everyone else had more experience, thus making it hard for Matthewsiania in the ground.

"Ah. Mago. The wizard of the defense that took Real Sociedade to their last title.", answered an old voice. "I hope you realize who's on the other side of the phone." The Figs' coach got a bit confused, but expected the one person that would call after Matthewsiania's qualifiers' debut. "Your Majesty?". "Quite." answered the King. "Only seems fair I'd call you after the match-up you and your team put up."

"Look, Your Majesty... We tried our best on the field and I'm sorry we couldn't come up with a win and-"
"Calm down, Mr. Mago. You did well enough. You played exactly like you should against a team like Buyan. You played ferocious. You played prideful. You played with your heart on the field. The way Matthewsianians do. And besides..." the King said, calming the coach down. "The Qualifiers are hard and our goal isn't qualification in any means, but to play well enough to warrant a Cup of Harmony invite. If we get that, we'll follow Unified Sunrise's steps to the top."

A brief minute of silence.

"You do know that they had to hire Kylx for a manager spot, right, Your Majesty?" asked Mago.

"I know."

The King then sighed.

"But he's way too expensive."

Before Quebec

"I'm afraid that we have to be the villains today" Hector said to the team after his assessment of the Quebecois squad.

"What do you mean by that?" Erik asked.

"We play dirty to get the result, insult them, shove them around, do anything to prevent them from getting into a rhythm" Hector said flatly.
"Basically, if we can get into their heads and make them feel uncomfortable we will win, plus I'm confident that the circumstances will be optimal for us. We can pull this off and it will be the best win in Western Borderlands history, Every player has to shove those people around, Every player has to physically dominate their man. If we do that our chances will drastically improve for qualification. Every team's rise has to start somewhere and we start here"

Erik looked at Hector, looked at his team, then looked back at Hector. "I need to talk to you in private"

The rest of the team were all for the plan. They discussed how to get in the heads of some players, how to injure them, and how to make Quebec lose focus.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Half an our later-------------------------------------------------------------------------

After the team meeting Erik stormed into Hector's office. "What the hell are you thinking?!"
"I'm thinking about winning" Hector said calmly.
"Yeah winning, by doing what? the equivalent of beating the players over with a stick?"
"It's not that blunt" Hector said before he pulled out his team chart "It's just the natural order of things, if you can't win fairly then cheat"
"Natural order my-"
"Do you want to qualify or do you want to be remembered as the guy who let down his team"
Erik hesitated but then he fired back "Just like you were right?"
Hector smirked "Which is why I want YOU to win, do you think I would draw up this plan if I thought we couldn't win with it? why would I want our team to not qualify? sure the method of doing so isn't...ideal, but it's the only way I found."
Erik looked as though he was about to respond but the Hector cuts off his response with "Did you do well last World Cup Erik?"

Erik did not respond it was as if time stopped for Erik as his thoughts raced to find a comeback, but he could not formulate one.
He looked at Hector with a blank face and left without a word.

After Quebec

"I told you" Hector said to Erik after the team left the stadium. "I told you that that is the way we have to approach this match"
Erik glared at Hector, he did not want to admit that Hector was right. Erik wanted his team to be great without the excessive need to play dirty, but he was pulled back down to reality when he saw his teammates celebrate their victory. He knew then, the couldn't have won without the dirty play.

Then Erik realized that he was fueling himself with false hopes, especially when he thought back to Hector's question, "Did you do well last World Cup Erik?" and so he turned to face Hector.

Erik smiled and asked "So what's next?"
Hector responded with "A drink, A plan, and glory."
Erik chuckled a bit, but his thoughts still racing.
Then Erik looked at Hector, an old man who used to play the Western Borderlands' most cherished club: Northbrook. The same club Erik lead for some time before moving to Semarland. Erik looked up to him as a child, Erik used to wear his jersey to Northbrook games all of the time, in a sense Hector was Erik's idol.

But now it's different, instead of looking up to Hector he was looking directly at him.

Then he looked at the schedule he had, they were going to Semarland next.

Hector's Plan

Hector settled his team down and was prepared to lay down his plan for the next match against Semarland. He was very confident in his plan as right after he got home from Quebec, he started to write it down. Things have been going well for him lately, having won his first match as manager against Quebec and having won the adoration of the public shortly after he was the happiest man in the world.

So, he stated "When we go against Semarland, we have to do more of the same" Most of the team became nervous, after the brutal match against Quebec they hoped Hector would have changed the plan. As Hector spoke on however, they noticed a figure behind Hector and it's malevolent nature.

"But seeing as Drake Manthromma is in immense pain after the last game, I decided to start someone over him" Hector looked behind him and nodded his head. The figure slowly and briskly made his way to the front of the room.

"Gasoro Ikharimikialbos-O'ijima" The team looked at Hector with bewildered eyes. Gasoro was not much of a defender as he was a thug he threw down players, he punched them whenever no one was looking and he was unapologetic about it. He had a tendency to get himself suspended a lot, so he was not on the team last World Cup, but now the circumstances are different. Hector's message was clear: destroy any team in the way.
Gasoro himself looked more like an ogre than a human. Many at his club (Natadym) called him "Gasogre" due to his appearance.

Hector smiled and said "More of the same, but better."

Hector walked back into his office with many of the players in shock.

Drake himself managed to painfully mutter "Oh...no..."
"Open your eyes don't be this way,Throw all your dreams, the rest will have to wait"-Serj Tankian singing "ching chime"

KONDRII PACKS HIS SUITCASE
Jells Kondrii has scored a double in front of a packed home ground as the Swordeans shocked Filopines in the first game of the World Cup 71 Qualifiers. Kondrii headed his first goal in the goal in the 21st minute following an excellent Harvey Bell cross, and the Swordeans had the advantage in the 56th minute as Kondrii scored from an extremely tight angle in the box, but a Markus Dagan Own Goal in the 89th minute meant that George Haklim didn't get a clean sheet. The squad will stay the same for the team's next game however. In a legendary night, Shop Owner sang his famous WorldVision 37 song 'Shop Owner is King' while to the amazement of the crowd, executing 6 criminals at the same time with a ninja sword. The Swordean fans didn't care.

Prince Lennard V of Wolfbenz to attend home match against Pridnestrovia

The elegant Prince waves to the people of Wolfbenz

Kolbenz, Wolitz Bay, Wolfbenz- After the Dire Wolves hard-fought game against Schutzenphalia & West Ruhntuhnkuhnland, the heir apparent to the Wolfish throne, Prince Lennard V, has promised he and a few of his family members would attend the Dire Wolves home game against Pridnestrovia, a team that lost their first match to Nova Anglicana 4-2.

The Dire Wolves are 2-for-2 in losing their opening match in the World Cup Qualifying stage, and the memory of losing against a team that was one of the few in which the Dire Wolves were seeded higher than, lost an upsetting match. Some think it might be the start of a curse; Wolfbenz will lose all of their opening matches in World Cup Qualifying.

"We still have a lot of time to get on our feet," Espen Pavlov, the only Wolfish scorer in the 2-1 match, said in his post match interview against Schutzenphalia & West Ruhntuhnkuhnland, "Schutzenphalia & West Runtunhulunland (sic) are a good team, and we can't lose out confidence this early in qualifying."

OOC: This is a prelude to the RP storyline that both Quebec and I will be working together for this WC cycle.

Lucas Cartagena, a household name in the Guayabalense mafia, a name that is synonymous with death and total corruption, one of those people who does everything needed to grow his own family and personal empire, one of those people who eliminates the "clutter" that was in the way. Cartagena is one of those very visionary drug traffickers who always seeks to expand its evil tentacles to other latitudes, and it is something that he is doing, expanding into remote places like The Kingdom of Québec or Meritocracy of Ko-oren, places that are normally considered as a paradise on terms of the size of the drug market, things that makes happy to the Guayabalense smugglers, considering the legality of drugs in this nation.

Anyway, Lucas felt the need to expand further into the market of the Kingdom of Québec considering the ease of sale that is in that place but was an obstacle in front of his nose, the dreaded consortium of Monty-Capp, a pair of mafias established over 100 years and totally grounded in that kingdom, manipulating from major oil companies to companies engaged in the construction of various goods such as houses, buildings, etc. And of course the sale of drugs, as to avoid such sale or as lucrative as the Quebecois market, it is inevitable the fact of being tempted by an industry that generates billions of dollars annually, Lucas had that market looks "Achieving and get there is a good ambition, no matter the blood that has to be shed." With only hear such words from the mouth of Cartagena, was certain that the march would undertake to achieve their goal, all in revenge for an event.

Fourty years ago, the father of Lucas, José went to take a trip to Quebec to see where he could invest and grow the family empire in economic terms, staying for a couple of years there. After five years, José formed a large conglomerate drug smuggling, being at that time a great competition for Monty-Capp, Patrizio Monty decided to kidnap José, then killed him with a wealth of barbarism. Lucas recalled that event, take a deep breath, exhaled and said to himself. "I need to kill that bastard as quickly as possible, I need to avenge my father." The loss of his father was painful, so he literally felt compelled to intervene to defend the legacy of his father in those lands.

According to Lucas he had learned more Guayabalenses had entered scene Quebecois market, as is the case with Marcelo Valladares, a friend of Monty and Capp, therefore a rival of Lucas in their plans of megalomania and drugs, Marcelo is an old known for Lucas, childhood friends who grew up together in Santa Inés, a distant city to the capital, San Salvador, where they shared education and passion for football, which certainly facilitated the consortium Monty-Capps to buy important teams in the field of Guayabalense football such as FAS and Alianza in the decade of 2170 (1970 in the Kingdom of Québec), after graduating, they diverged, those paths met again in an unfortunate situation for the eyes anyone not involved in the issue of smuggling, Lucas felt angry after knowing that his childhood friend was on the other side.

That other side was made up Tybalt / Tybalt on the side of Capp and Mercutio / Romeo by the side of Monty, seemed to have divided but only a link kept separate from the possibilities of becoming a bloodbath, including Romeo Monty married the eldest granddaughter of Consort Capp, which Patrizio Monty had not allowed if still alive ... After a battle with cancer, unfortunately Monty lost it due to their immunological problems and severe depression that sent him to the grave, at an advanced age.

"Boss, are you ready?" told an employee to Lucas, who was taking a plane to go to Quebec and follow the same steps as his father, was not alone, he was going with his family and cronies, all going with the mission of building a megalomaniac empire with drug dealers everywhere, connections for big business and increase their wealth, ambitious plans typical of someone like him.

A new adventure took Lucas and his family to change latitudes, desperate impulse for revenge and ambition led him to make that decision, the goal was to unseat the Monty-Capp consortium, which would not fail, not at all easy, despite that Lucas already had contacts in Québec, very reliable contacts that had already shared experiences before, not only Guayabalenses but Calanians, Quebecers, and other nationalities there present, who were under his command, anyone would envy that, but "that" started when Lucas was young, but this path in the "Crazy Life" has not been harvested from overnight.

It all started when the father of Lucas received as a gift a small plantation of cocaine, which decided to harvest and distribute to different places, is how it all started with a small plantation of 25 square meters have plantations of over 800 hectares, oversized for a plantation, but it is common knowledge that this big is the megalomania of the Cartagena family, which has also been forced to reduce to ashes competition through "economic mischief" and killings, which seemed to be just a hobby became a cartel, recognized throughout the region as "Los Cartagena" name that symbolizes lust, greed, crime and evil.

That same slogan crime and evil was perfect to describe San José Guayabal in the days after the fall of the "Iron Curtain" or better known as the "Communist Era" uncontrolled killings, terrorist attacks everywhere, impunity and corruption they were the order of the day at that time, is when the Cartagena family managed to take advantage of the situation to dress up as white sheep and thus manipulate the tentacles of a large cartel, with influence in the government, which gave impunity to move forth, what mattered to them was money, not the lives of others.

You hear horrible and somewhat sadistic point, but it's true, that's the way The Cartagena operate, based on money, power and blood, thereby fail to meet their "needs" and even its pleasures, an evil family and power-hungry, what can we expect from them? Simply death and horror.

(I didn't want to crack open this RP just yet, but hey, it's late and I don't have time to write an original one)

Travanera Military Base, some years ago

You don’t know a snow storm till you've experienced one at Travanera. It looks like the whole word is coming crashing down, and sitting in the barracks, perched half-way up a mountain with nothing but snow and rock for miles around, you certainly feel it. Travanera was an anachronism from another age; the previous Communist regime kept a listening station up here, illegally tracking the telephone calls of the people in the Northern Valleys. It was decommissioned in the Great Rezoning, but the Special Defensive Unit moved in in 2002, using it mainly for training elite forces and patrolling the country’s northern border. It was situated 83 miles away from the nearest settlement of note, other than mining communities, and was connected to the rest of the country through a single-track road which was cut-off for half the year. Supplies and personnel were brought in mainly on helicopters, but weather regularly hampered these efforts.

Currently there were 73 personnel at the base, 26 from a SD Unit from Kreceva who were on their Extremity Training, whilst the others were part of the patrol units. The youngest of these was 22 year-old Katarina Krevic, transferred from Brezden Military College four months previously. Seeing Katarina in the street, you might be fooled into the thinking the army was the last place she’d end up; she was tall for a woman, maybe 5ft 9”, and held herself well. She had long brown hair, straightened time and time again, and would be called attractive by just about anyone. Her gender and diminutive stature led to her being the butt of the other soldiers, but her fierce nature and Private Zoren Disanevic’s broken nose more than attested for her ability as a soldier.

Being one of the two females on the base, the other being the older Communications Officer, Katarina had an unusually large living space – her bunk and it’s surrounds was always scrupulously neat: her clothes were all neatly folded away in their respective place, and a long line of battered novels sat neatly on a plank of wood attached to the wall above her bed. It was here that she could be found during her hours off duty, reading one of these many novels by lamplight. Regular parcels came for her with the latest bestseller, sent directly from a bookshop in her native Vfana. Before attending Military College in Brezden, she had studied Szavda Literature at a ‘premier university’, although she declined to say which one. The other soldiers used to joke that she had walked straight out the pages of the one of the infinite mystery-romance novels that Szavda writing machine churned out.

Katarina was sat in her usual position, thumbing through a well-worn copy of the 1959 classic A Bride for Mikhail, when the door to her barrack opened. It was Elena, the Comms Officer, wearing the standard uniform with the typical large winter coat. She removed her hat and brushed a large amount of snow off of it before closing the door and coming inside.

“Blowing a bitch outside” the Comms Officer said as she removed her gloves and placed them on the radiator.
“I can tell.” Katarina responded without looking up from her book.
“Are you still reading that bloody book?” Elena said, bemused.
“Yeah. I was almost done when I read a paper from a Literature Professor in Kreceva who suggested a reading of the book as a metaphor for man’s desire to find companionship and compassion in the post-lapsarian world.”
“What does that mean?”
“Well, it basically means that ever since…”
Elena cut in “I don’t actually give a shit.”
“I didn’t think you did.”
“Oh yeah, the Captain said that…” Elena was cut-off by the high-pitched whine of the Base Alarm. The caged red-light on the wall of their quarters flashed on and off.
“Shit.” Katarina said whilst putting down her book and rising from her chair “That’s me; I’m on exterior alert duty. Where are my gloves?” Elena took them from the drawer and threw them to her. Katarina put them on whilst affixing her hat. She buttoned up her coat and raised her hood, before heading outside.

The storm was still blowing fiercely as she moved across the court-yard of the base towards the main operation centre. She pressed down on the handle and entered the snow-lock, before passing through the second door and into the main area. In one corner was a console, and two people stood by it, intently staring at the screens. Katarina walked up and joined them.

“What seems to be the issue?” Katarina asked?
“You’re not going to believe this” said the man next to her, who was the Console Technician “But someone has put out a distress signal around the Bkahver Pass.”
“Fuck. Why?” Katarina responded.
“We don’t know” replied the other man, whom Katarina knew very well as her Operations Partner Aco Vukovic, or Ace for short. “But HQ wants us to send a chopper out to investigate. And because it’s our shift, well, you know…”

“Fuck fuck fuck!” Katarina castigated herself, going out in this snowstorm would be hell. The door to the centre opened once again and another man entered. This was one the helicopter pilots, Lazar. He was on duty as well, and had to fly in these terrible conditions. Aco and Katarina moved to join the pilot, whilst the technician radioed to the Operations Manager who had to get flight equipment ready.

“How the fuck are we going to fly in this weather?” mused Aco
“Well, I don’t know, but we do have the finest vehicle known to man to deal with this kind of situation. Do we know what we’re looking at?”
“Someone has deployed a distress beacon near the Bkhaver Pass, so it’s probably some fucking immigrants or hikers. Or god forbid it’s one of those stupid bears has got into trouble.”

Recently, the Sazvda military had agreed a deal with the Wildlife Protection Service to monitor the activities of over 600 endangered Mazna Bears in return for use of certain land for military activities, and part of the deal was that tags were placed on each bear, and when the bears showed distinct features, such as heightened heart rate, rapid movements or other indicators of trouble, then the military at Travanera was obliged to check it out. Being a woman, it was assumed Katarina liked animals, so she was put in charge of the operation.

The three left the centre and headed to another, smaller, building. This was the Equipment Store, and they were greeted by a sprightly young man. This was the deputy Operations Manager. He took two scoped rifles off a rack and handed them to Katarina and Aco. He took a box of rounds from the shelf below and Aco pocketed them, whilst he opened a separate box and presented the contents to Katarina.

“New from HQ yesterday, these tranquilliser darts can put a bear out from 800 yards. Will put the bastards out for a good couple a hours.”
“Great, thanks.” Katarina replied, putting the box into her jacket pocket. She ran a few rudimentary checks on her rifle whilst the DOM retrieved a first aid kit and the pack which they could perform basic surgery on the bear should it be in desperate need. Most of the time, it was that the bears got stuck in ravines or in other less navigable parts. Katarina and Aco took the rest of the gear and three hurried towards the helicopter pad, where their ride sat. This was pride of the Szavda Research and Patrol force, the Snowchaser Helicopter, and it was a particularly fitting name given the current conditions. It was dark grey with the ubiquitous red stripe and wings of the Szavda Air Force. It had two massive floodlights on the front, and a very technical looking radar array to one side of the rotor circle. The take-off crew were putting the finishing touches to the chopper. Lazar got in the front, whilst Katarina and Aco put their equipment in the passenger compartment and got in after them. Lazar flicked a switch in the cockpit and the rotors roared into life, lifting the helicopter away into the white-out.

OOC: This is part of a series of excerpts of a story I wrote, set in FT Ceni. Treat it as fiction and non-canonical; excerpt 1 is the beginning of the story and the rest should provide some context as well

Excerpt 1
Excerpts 2 & 3
Excerpt 4

The largest planet by population in Ceni loomed in sight as the ship approached Cenaci. Cenaci was the pearl of the oyster, the grand jewel of the crown. Cenaci was the origin of the Cenian race and the capital of Ceni.
The mood of the crew was high as the ship came closer to the majestic planet. Cenaci was a big place to find a buyer for the ship’s cargo, a load of foodstuffs from the farm planet of Ille. In the ship’s hold were numerous things to feed the world’s monstrous population. There were scrumptious faltry steaks, cooked tenderly by Ille’s best chefs and then frozen for sale. There were batatas, large roots which were packed full of calories and carbohydrates. There were the finest milks and creams from Ille’s faltries. Even best of all was the cargo of ice cream, a treat that would delight all ages.
As the planet came closer, Charkorian could make out more and more of the planet’s surface. He could make out the gigantic Palace Museum, the tall B’betsy Center, and so much more. Charkorian would enjoy the planet’s numerous attractions after he had sold his cargo.
Suddenly, a corvette-sized ship came to Charkorian as he was approaching the planet. “This is the Wonderful Majesty,” it announced. “We have come to take your cargo, your ships, and your lives. We are part of the Scourge, the most feared pirate organization in all of Ceni. Surrender to us, and prepare to be boarded.”
“Not again,” Charkorian groaned. “How many times have we been chased by pirates?”
` “Too many times,” Ishad agreed. “What will we do this time?”
“Run, like every other time.”
Charkorian quickly revved up the engines. They sprung to life, getting faster and faster. He quickly turned the ship around so they could jet past the corvette. When the engines were finally at full power, they rocketed past the corvette. It began to fire, but Charkorian artfully dodged its blasts. Left, right. The ship weaved in and out of the blasts, avoiding them as it went.
Once the ship had finally gotten out of the corvette’s range, Charkorian punched in the coordinates for the other side of Cenaci. He double-checked them and pulled the lever. Off they went, and out they came. The crew was now even more anxious to get to Cenaci, wary that they were about to get attacked by more pirates.
Pirates this close to Cenaci were a bad omen. If pirates could slip past Cenaci’s security net, either the pirates were very good or the security net was very bad. Neither spelled good things for Charkorian and his crew.
Besides, Charkorian was tired. He needed a good night’s rest after the long day in hyperspace, with nothing to do. It was gloomy for him. That night, he would have some caf and some sleep. He needed it badly.
Charkorian eased on the controls and slowly brought his ship into Cenaci’s orbit. It remained there until Cenaci control cleared it for a landing at the largest starport in Ceni, the King Kendrick Starport. It gracefully descended like an elevator and gently touched down in the starport.

“Five thousand Bewlegi.”
“Deal.”
Charkorian felt proud of himself for the great deal he had just made. Five thousand Bewlegi was a great score for the shipment of exotic spices from Cenaci to Illirea, just a dozen parsecs south of where they were. There was probably a catch, but for now, Charkorian, was excited about a great new cargo. The crew’s senses would surely be delighted.
He was walking beneath the astonishing King Kendrick Towers when all hell broke loose.
Two thugs broke out of the surrounding crowd and began to run for him. At the same time, a man wearing a dark suit came out of the crowd. He also began to start walking in his direction.
To make matters worse, a third thug came swinging from an aerial platform on repulsorlift boots. Of course, Charkorian only noticed this lofty challenger just in time to avoid the oncoming figure.
The rest of the thugs took their opportunity, diving for Charkorian as he struggled to get through the crowd. One took the right, one took the left, trying to get him in their grasp.
Charkorian was not one to let a possible heist go easily. He rapidly turned to the left and let out his right foot into the solar plexus of one of his attackers. Of course, that left him off his balance and a bright target for the other.
Charkorian had an extra trick up his sleeve for this one. He swept his fist underneath the other attacker and punched him in the gut.
Wheezing and blowing, the other attacker tried again to take Charkorian down. He tried to get for a bash in the stomach, but Charkorian was quicker and elbowed the attacker. The attacker got up quickly and let out a great kick.
At the same time, Charkorian let out another punch to the assailant’s face. He then followed up with a punch to the ribs.
Finally, a high kick to the gut finished of this attacker, who crumpled to the ground in a heap. However, there was still one left.
The dark-suited guy began to advance towards Charkorian, following the histrionical affair as one of his men fell to the ground. It appeared that the executive assailant was not planning to let this one go. He quickened his pace towards Charkorian.
Two against one was not good odds. And there was still the third one on repulsor boots, who had temporarily came away from the fray. When the enemy controlled the sky, his prospects were not good.
Like an eagle diving for an unfortunate fish in a river, the assailant on repulsor boots swooped down from his perch to claw his prey and deliver him to the hungry chicks back at the nest. Charkorian ducked, right into the suited man. He pulled a hood over him and everything went black.
But Charkorian was not done fighting. Even though he was blinded, he lashed out at his attacker, sending a punch into the man. A strong kick soon followed, sending the man off of his balance.
This was all Charkorian needed. He quickly yanked the hood off his face and dove for the suited man, crushing him. He then had a one-two whammy against the man’s head, knocking him unconscious. Two down, two to go.
As the third assailant swooped around the buildings, looking for Charkorian in the sea of people. the last thug on the ground spotted him and decided to charge. Not exactly the most prudent decision on his part, for Charkorian started a bear hug on him and quickly turned him to the floor. the assailant was further dispatched with a kick to the spine.
The man with repulsor boots tried to make one last attack on Charkorian. Seeing the folly in attacking the man who had suddenly dispatched his enemies, however, he decided to fly back to his nest, choosing the certainty of being rebuked by his young chicks about not having food over the certainty of being knocked unconscious and trapped by the bird tamer.
Charkorian wondered what had prompted this attack. Was it revenge? Was it an attempt to capture the valuable spices in his hold? He did not know, and he did not intend to know why. All he needed to know was that he was safe.
Unfortunately, the worst was yet to come. A triangle formation of thugs came hurriedly walking down the mane esplanade, pushing and shoving people out of their way. They grew ever closer. Closer they came. Closer. Closer. Closer.
Finally, they drew up around Charkorian, encircling him within their numbers. Their noose got tighter. Their ring got smaller. He was about to become their victim, another murder on a crowded planet. And nobody would know.
One little movement sealed Charkorian’s fate. As the ruffians tightly surrounded him, their leader nodded. They were ready for the kill, ready for the works. Charkorian had a one-way ticket on the train to them, and they were the conductors, and the daylight train was leaving Cenaci.
Charkorian was not ready to die.
His head darted. Left. Right. Forward. Backward. They were after him.
One decided he would be the one to get the glory of the kill, drawing his blaster. Right at that moment, Charkorian let out a huge kick and the assaulter oomphed to the ground. Another tried to draw a blaster. Quickly, Charkorian spun around and gave him the best one-two, knocking out the Illirean by the pressure sensors near the stomach.
He quickly fell to the ground. Then, he span around on his arm and knocked the thugs to the ground like a row of dominoes. Getting up, Charkorian lowered his center of gravity and headbutted an assailant. His head span but the man cried and thudded to the ground.
Seeing an opportunity, Charkorian dived for a rope that he saw. Grabbing it and getting used to its heft, he swung it around as a test. Looping it and snapping it, he took out one of the thugs. His assailants kept going, running right into Charkorian’s rope of terror. He snapped it like a whip right down on one of the assailants, knocking him unconscious.
As one advanced, he drew his blaster. Charkorian spun the rope round and round like a lasso, catching two men in its grip. He then lifted the rope and threw the men into a group of two other men, putting them out of service.
Charkorian huffed and puffed. Seeing an opportunity, two men advanced to outflank Charkorian. One came from the left, while the other came from the right. Both drew their blasters. Charkorian had to get them. And fast. Danger was looming on Cenaci, and Charkorian would be the victim.
Right in front of him, a bright yellow airspeeder would be his savior. Dodging the frightened crowd, he began to dash for his only hope. Realizing their folly, the assailants struggled to push back against the crowd, only running out of breath. Two saw another airspeeder. One jumped in and grabbed the controls, lifting the machine off the ground. It began to rise, slower at first. Then it began to gain height faster and faster.
Finally reaching his chosen vehicle, Charkorian took a quick glance at the controls. Easy enough, but hard when your life is at stake. He revved up the engines and began to ascend. The chase was on.

(OOC: Apologies in advance for JAC’s sailor’s mouth. Especially to Kalumba for calling one of his strikers a, well, you’ll find out...)

James-Alexandre Christopherson’s office - Arena la Rouge, Philibiscostal
Christopherson scowled as he sat in his office eating a bagel and lox while rewatching the opening game against Kalumba. It wasn’t pleasant to see some of the mistakes his squad was making.

"For the love of Christ, Sessions, don’t let the fucker through!" James-Alexandre yelled with a mouth half-full of bagel as he watched the defender let Piet von Kruger nearly score, not realising that his assistant was standing at the open door. "As long as Intan does the job, we’re fine..."

Pritchard knocked on the door to get his boss’s attention, only to be met with a cry of "Holy shit!" and a James-Alexandre jumping out of his chair and falling on the floor.

"You scared the living crap out of me, Ryan," Christopherson moaned while trying to recover whatever he could of his bagel and take it to the rubbish bin. "What do you want?"

"Sorry," Pritchard muttered sheepishly. "Didn’t mean to frighten you. Do you want help with that?"

"It’s fine, Ryan."

"I was just wondering what we were going to do about the next game."

"Bench the starting eleven is what we’re going to do."

"Worried about Nova Anglicana, right?"

"Not to mention we then go to play the USI afterwards. The draw was a goddamned bitch like that."

Ryan had grown accustomed to James-Alexandre’s potty mouth. JAC, as he became affectionately known by La Corona’s fanbase, had gained a reputation for his love affair with profanity. Some even joked that Christopherson loved the f-bomb more than he loved his wife, not to mention that Christopherson would gladly play along with the friendly ribbing.

"True," Pritchard replied, standing with a sort of blank stare in the middle of the office.

"Take a seat," Christopherson asked before sitting down in one of the two chairs in front of his desk.

Pritchard immediately took the other. "Of course. So what do we say to the team after last night?"

James-Alexandre looked over at Ryan. Ryan had become James-Alexandre’s closest confidant. Hell, Ryan knew secrets that James-Alexandre’s wife could only dream of knowing. A good right-hand-man was hard to find in the city of Philibiscostal, where everyone simply looked for an opportunity to move up the social ladder, overlooking job security in favour of advancement. Ryan was different, sticking through a difficult boss through thick and thin. James-Alexandre couldn’t do anything but be honest. "We might tell them that getting a draw against a higher-ranked opponent is a good job, but we’re not. We blew the lead on home soil at the start of the campaign. We could have won, but we didn’t. And that is infuriating."

"The away games are going to be really important though," Ryan said. "If we can get draws against the higher-ranked teams and wins against the lower-ranked sides, it puts us in good shape. Dropping two points at home will seem insignificant if we can get three points on the return leg to Kalumba."

"True," Christopherson replied sombrely. "Do you want a drink?"

"No thanks, sir."

James-Alexandre got up to go to his mini-refrigerator in the office and get a beer before sitting back down in the same seat. "We’re between a rock and a hard place right now," the manager said as he opened the bottle. "If we field our main eleven against Peace Republic, we ought to be assured a win, but we need them in peak shape for our game against Nova Anglicana. If we field our substitutes, we’re taking a huge risk, but it keeps our main eleven rested."

"Rest them," Ryan said. "We haven’t a clue who is playing for our opponents or what their strategy is, but you know how these unranked teams turn out."

"Arvenia," Christopherson replied, pointing out the team that the UCN had claimed "took a wrong turn on their way to the bingo tournament across town."

"Fluke," Ryan responded. "One draw does not a good team make. They’ll be a spoiler, but they always play poorly on aggregate. Unless they start churning out goals like butter, we shouldn’t be worried."

"Right," Christopherson moaned. "We rest the starting eleven, put on the substitutes and make sure to give the team a stern talking to before we play here."

"Sounds like a plan."

"Sounds like a plan."

Previous to the match against Ekoz, in Ekoz, the êLFêF had snuck in a two minute long video to promote the Lonish culture. Entirely unnecessary, as we said earlier, but hell. You gotta do what you gotta do, and if promotion of one of the most lame and touristically unattractive nations imaginable is what you gotta do, you better make the best of it.

Giluvâs - the Bright Capital of the Northern Provence of Doligât

"Giluvâs is the typical city you would expect in Lons’ northern regions. The provence of Doligât is reknowned for its mountainous areas, but also for the large amount of idyllic sceneries it provides. Giluvâs not only is the most typical of Doligât’s cities, it’s also the oldest. While the area around the city has matured with the ages, Giluvâs often looks as if it has been frozen in time. It's not unusual for one visiting Giluvâs to feel nostalgic, or to dream away in its beautiful nostalgic museums. The Lonish National Team all have visited the city at least once, for example because they were born and raised there, or simply to play a game in the competition. Giluvâs Hawks, the team that has its home in Giluvâs, currently holds the eighth spot in the competition. From the Locksmiths; substitute player Gelân Fritânê was born, raised and trained in Giluvâs, and still plays there for the Hawks. "People who visit Giluvâs are often amazed by the way it is built, the old houses and streets. Giluvâs is truly a magnificent place for every one, especially those interested in the nostalgic Lonish life." Come visit Giluvâs, in Lons. Lots of Lons." The video ended with a rather strange logo resembling a heart. If one thought hard and deep about it, they might realise Lots of Lons was designed to resemble the phrase Lots of Love. However, it would take a true Lonian's English skill to make that association.

The match itself was rather boring. Ekoz scored a goal in the 65th minute. Apart from that; the Lonish defense, as well as Ekoz's defense was on point. However, this meant the game was played mostly in the midfield, while chances at goal were very limited. Next match, Lons plays the Holy Republican Empire, a team that is expected to do rather well in these qualifiers. More importantly however, would probably be the next video, as its the most action the Lonish public will be seeing. It is about Tanibûs, the Everlit Harborous City in the East. Stay tuned.
