The constitutional amendment has been passed. This amendment reforms Syndikat's political system from full presidential to semi-presidential.

The Fedsynd (previously called the Federal Council) elects one of their own as First Minister. The FM and Prime Minister co-manage the executive branch. In the event that the PM and FM are of different parties/coalitions, the FM will manage domestic affairs and PM will manage Foreign affairs.

So far polls are showing that the dearly loved People's Communist Party of Syndikat is set to achieve a minority gov't in the Fedsynd, and the Worker's Solidarity Party is set to be the Official Opposition.

In the race for Prime Minister, 3 candidates have stepped forward:

Abraham Guilbert (Ganyde Socialist Party): Like every election the ol' GSP is trying to move Syndikat in a more authoritarian, militaristic direction, including more military spending and scrapping the Alp Doctrine. Don't expect anything to come of this campaign folks.

Victor Freitag (Worker's Solidarity Party): This guy's main schtick is that he wants to bring back the Syndfranc, Syndikat's currency, to domestic use. Currently it is only used for international trade reasons. He is opposed to a transition to communism, and also opposes the Alp Doctine, believing that military alliances would be beneficial to Syndikat.

Clara Bruneau (Syndikati Syndicalist Party): Having previously served as Minister of Health under Prime Ministers Alexander Braun, Kevin Aalard, and Issac Lambert, she has a lot of experience in the government. She supports Syndikat's Alp Doctrine, the document that defines basic military policy in Syndikat, establishing Syndikat as neutral, and only using military force to defend Syndikat and humanity. She wants to expand Syndikat's scientific prowess, mainly with a genetics program that could see human beings live longer, healthier, and stronger. Among all her ideas, she is also described as a kind and caring woman, and potentially strong leader.

(Don't worry about the genetics. I'm not Volk, I'm not going to create horrible cult abominations and stuff. This is a Syndikati genetics program.)

A debate between the Prime Minister candidates has occurred. Main topics included how to handle the military, how we,d deal with another terrorist situation, and how to handle foreign affairs.

The general consensus in Syndikat is that Clara Bruneau won the debate. She's stated she'd like to slowly dismantle the military when the time is right, and wants to improve relations peaceful, like minded nations.

Abraham Guilbert's campaign has been suffering since he made a racist comment after the debate. Backstage, when he thought he was alone, he called Bruneau a 'half-Togerian bitch'. Guilbert's already suffering campaign is expected to be dead in the water.

(For those curious, ethnically, Bruneau is half Syndikati and half Togerian. There is a significant ethnic Togerian minority in Syndikat that goes back to just after the ol revolution. Even with her ethnic roots, Bruneau is Syndikati through and through. She speaks French (and German), she has Syndikati values, etc.)
