Reverend Norv wrote:Every RP I run is a learning experience for me.

In this one, I tried to create an intricately plotted story in which every PC had a key role to play. I interwove relationships and backgrounds, planted secrets in the past, connected plotlines for the future.

Then two-thirds of the PCs left.

The reality is that I can't run this RP with the players I have left. I plotted this too intricately - and therefore too rigidly - to be able to continue without most of the original players.

Next time - and there will be a next time - I won't make the same mistake.

But I don't think there's any point in trying to revive this further, folks. I'm sorry.

A shame. I think Moira is the most fun I've had with a character since Catrin.

Out of all of the RPs I've played, this is the one that I enjoyed the most. Back when I worked at the body shop, I was counting down the hours until I could head back home and type up a post.

A shame it had to end this way. This was probably the most well done rp I ever participated in, and it was nice for the player characters to actually hold importance to the storyline. If you're ever interested in creating a rp set in 1800's Appalachia like you mentioned some time ago, Norv, I would be extremely interested. Also, you should probably get a job writing for Telltale. Just saying.

But God, why does it feel like I'm writing an eulogy?

I regret that we didn't see what Norv had envisioned further along in the storyline.

Indeed. This was one of the best roleplays on the forum, I'm sure we can all agree. Norv, the next time you make an RP, you know I'll be there.

Another thing: Norv, thank you for introducing to me this fascinating period in history. The reivers are something I knew absolutely nothing about, but you wove an immersive world around them that was simply captivating.

And for god's sake, man, write some novels.

@Wolfy: It does kind of feel like we're writing eulogies, doesn't it?

I have to second everyone else's sentiments. I learned a great deal about historical Scotland/England, ballads, and the mythology and folktales of the Border. I enjoyed the small role I played in this role-play immensely, and I am more than apologetic that my posting became so sparse. To be honest, I was a bit discouraged by the lack of activity later on, and felt that even if I did post the plot wouldn't advance too much further due to general inactivity. In all, this has been an experience of mixed emotions. I'm proud to have been involved, and regretful that my involvement didn't proceed further.

Yeah, uh, what they said.

You're pretty damn good at this, Norv - perhaps too good, which seems to have been the issue.
"Then I was fertilized and grew wise;
From a word to a word I was led to a word,
From a work to a work I was led to a work."
- Odin, Hávamál 138-141, the Poetic Edda, as translated by Dan McCoy.

I enjoy meta-humor and self-deprecation. Annoying, right?

Goodbye.
